2 Timothy - Chapter: 2

>
2:1Thou therefore, my sonne, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Iesus.
2:2And the things that thou hast heard of mee among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithfull men, who shall be able to teach others also.
2:3Thou therefore indure hardnesse, as a good souldier of Iesus Christ.
2:4No man that warreth, intangleth himselfe with the affaires of this life, that hee may please him who hath chosen him to be a souldJeremiah
2:5And if a man also striue for masteries, yet is hee not crowned except hee striue lawfully.
2:6The husbandman that laboureth, must bee first partaker of the fruites.
2:7Consider what I say, and the Lord giue thee vnderstanding in all things.
2:8Remember that Iesus Christ of the seede of Dauid, was raised from the dead, according to my Gospel:
2:9Wherein I suffer trouble as an euill doer, euen vnto bonds: but the word of God is not bound.
2:10Therefore I indure all things for the elects sakes, that they may also obtaine the saluation which is in Christ Iesus, with eternall glory.
2:11It is a faithfull saying: for if we bee dead with him, wee shall also liue with him.
2:12If we suffer, we shall also reigne with him: if wee denie him, hee also will denie vs.
2:13If we beleeue not, yet he abideth faithfull, he cannot denie himselfe.
2:14Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord, that they striue not about words to no profite, but to the subuerting of the hearers.
2:15Studie to shewe thy selfe approued vnto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly diuiding the word of trueth.
2:16But shun profane and vaine bablings, for they will increase vnto more vngodlinesse.
2:17And their word will eate as doth a canker: of whom is Hymeneus and Philetus.
2:18Who concerning the trueth haue erred, saying that the resurrection is past alreadie, and ouerthrow the faith of some.
2:19Neuerthelesse the foundation of God standeth sure, hauing the seale, the Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let euery one that nameth the Name of Christ, depart from iniquitie.
2:20But in a great house, there are not onely vessels of gold, and of siluer, but also a wood, & of earth: and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
2:21If a man therefore purge himselfe from these, he shal be a vessell vnto honour, sanctified, and meete for the Masters vse, and prepared vnto euery good worke.
2:22Flie also youthfull lusts: but follow righteousnesse, faith, charitie, peace with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2:23But foolish and vnlearned questions auoid, knowing that they doe gender strifes.
2:24And the seruant of the Lord must not striue: but bee gentle vnto all men, apt to teach, patient,
2:25In meekenesse instructing those that oppose themselues, if God peraduenture will giue them repentance to the acknowledging of the trueth.
2:26And that they may recouer themselues out of the snare of the deuill, who are taken captiue by him at his will.

2:1Thou therfore my sonne, be stronge thorow the grace which is in Christ Iesu.
2:2And what thinges thou hast herde of me by many witnesses, the same commytte thou vnto faithfull men, which are apte to teach other.
2:3Thou therfore suffre affliccion as a good soudyer off Iesu Christ.
2:4No ma that warreth, tangleth him selfe with wordly busynesses, & that because he wolde please him, which hath chosen him to be a soudyer.
2:5And though a man stryue for a mastrye, yet is he not crowned, excepte he stryue laufully.
2:6The hussbandman that laboureth, must first enioye the frutes.
2:7Consydre what I saye. The LORDE shal geue the vnderstondynge in all thinges.
2:8Remembre that Iesus Christ, beynge of the sede of Dauid, rose agayne fro the deed, acordynge to my Gospell,
2:9where in I suffre as an euell doer euen vnto bandes: but the worde of God is not bounde.
2:10Therfore suffre I all for the electes sakes, that they also mighte optayne the saluacion in Christ Iesu with eternall glory.
2:11This is a true sayenge: Yf we be deed wt him, we shal lyue with him also:
2:12Yf we be pacient, we shal also raigne with him: Yf we denye him, he also shal denye vs:
2:13Yf we beleue not, yet abydeth he faithfull, he can not denye himselfe.
2:14Of these thinges put thou them in remebraunce, and testifye before the LORDE, that they stryue not aboute wordes, which is to no profit, but to peruerte the hearers.
2:15Study to shewe thy selfe vnto God a laudable workman, that nedeth not to be ashamed, deuydynge the worde of trueth iustly.
2:16As for vngoostly and vayne talkynges, eschue them: for they helpe moch to vngodlynes,
2:17and their worde fretteth as doth a canker: Of whose nombre is Hymeneos & Philetus,
2:18which as concernynge the trueth haue erred, sayenge, that the resurreccion is past allready, and haue destroyed the faith of dyuerse personnes.
2:19But ye sure grounde of God stondeth fast, and hath this seale: The LORDE knoweth them that are his, and let euery ma that calleth vpon the name of Christ, departe from iniquyte.
2:20Not withstondynge in a greate house are not onely vessels of golde and of syluer, but also of wod and of earth: some for honoure, and some to dishonoure.
2:21But yf a man pourge himselfe from soch felowes, he shalbe a vessell sanctified vnto honoure, mete for the LORDE, and prepared vnto all good workes.
2:22Fle thou the lustes of youth, but folowe righteousnes, faith, loue, peace, with all them that call vpon the LORDE with pure hert.
2:23As for folish questions and soch as teach not, put them fro the: for thou knowest that they do but geder stryfe.
2:24The seruaunt of the LORDE ought not to stryue, but to be gentle vnto euery man: apte to teach, one that can forbeare
2:25the euell, one yt can with mekenesse enfourme them yt resist: yf God at eny tyme wyl geue them repentaunce for to knowe the trueth,
2:26and to turne agayne from the snare of the deuell, which are holden in preson of him at his will.

2:1Therfor thou, my sone, be coumfortid in grace that is in Crist Jhesu.
2:2And what thingis thou hast herd of me bi many witnessis, bitake thou these to feithful men, whiche schulen `be also able to teche othere men.
2:3Trauele thou as a good knyyt of Crist Jhesu.
2:4No man holdinge knyythod to God, wlappith hym silf with worldli nedis, that he plese to hym, to whom he hath preuyd hym silf.
2:5For he that fiytith in a batel, schal not be corowned, but he fiyte lawfuli.
2:6It bihoueth an erthetiliere to resseyue first of the fruytis.
2:7Vndurstonde thou what thingis Y seie. For the Lord schal yyue to thee vndurstonding in alle thingis.
2:8Be thou myndeful that the Lord Jhesu Crist of the seed of Dauid hath rise ayen fro deth,
2:9aftir my gospel, in which Y trauele `til to boondis, as worching yuele, but the word of God is not boundun.
2:10Therfor Y suffre alle thingis for the chosun, that also thei gete the heelthe, that is in Crist Jhesu, with heuenli glorie.
2:11A trewe word, that if we ben deed togidere, also we schulen liue togidere;
2:12if we suffren, we schulen regne togidere; if we denyen, he schal denye vs;
2:13if we bileuen not, he dwellith feithful, he mai not denye hym silf.
2:14Teche thou these thingis, witnessinge bifore God. Nyle thou stryue in wordis; for to no thing it is profitable, but to the subuerting of men that heren.
2:15Bisili kepe to yyue thi silf a preued preisable werkman to God, with oute schame, riytli tretinge the word of treuthe.
2:16But eschewe thou vnhooli and veyn spechis, for whi tho profiten myche to vnfeithfulnesse,
2:17and the word of hem crepith as a canker. Of whiche Filete is, and Ymeneus,
2:18whiche felden doun fro the treuthe, seiynge that the rising ayen is now doon, and thei subuertiden the feith of summen.
2:19But the sad foundement of God stondith, hauynge this marke, The Lord knowith whiche ben hise, and, Ech man that nameth the name of the Lord, departith fro wickidnesse.
2:20But in a greet hous ben not oneli vessels of gold and of siluer, but also of tree and of erthe; and so summen ben in to onour, and summe in to dispit.
2:21Therfor if ony man clensith hym silf fro these, he schal be a vessel halewid in to onour, and profitable to the Lord, redi to al good werk.
2:22And fle thou desiris of yongthe, but sue thou riytwisnesse, feith, charite, pees, with hem that inwardli clepen the Lord of a clene herte.
2:23And eschewe thou foltische questiouns, and without kunnyng, wytynge that tho gendren chidyngis.
2:24But it bihoueth the seruaunt of the Lord to chide not; but to be mylde to alle men, able to teche,
2:25paciente, with temperaunce repreuynge hem that ayenstonden the treuthe, that sum tyme God yyue to hem forthenkyng, that thei knowen the treuthe,
2:26and that thei rise ayen fro the snares of the deuel, of whom thei ben holdun prisoneris at his wille.
