1:2vpon the hope, of eternall lyfe, whiche lyfe God that can not lye, hath promysed before the worlde beganne:
1:3but hath opened hys worde, at the tyme appoynted thorowe preachynge which preachynge is commytted vnto me by the commaundement of God oure sauyoure.
1:4To Titus hys naturall sonne in the common fayth. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the father and from the Lorde Iesu Christe oure sauyoure.
1:5For thys cause left I the in Crete, that thou shouldest performe that whiche was lackynge, and shouldest ordeyne elders in euery cytye as I appoynted the.
1:6Yf any be fautelesse, the husbande of one wyfe hauyng faythfull chyldren, whiche are not sclaundred of ryote, neyther are dysobedyent.
1:7For a byshoppe must be fautelesse, as it becommeth the mynister of God: not stubborne, not angrye, no dronkarde, no fyghter, not geuen to fylthy lucre:
1:8but herberous one that loueth goodnes, sober mynded, ryghtuous, holy temperate,
1:9and suche as cleaueth vnto the true worde of doctryne, that he maye be able to exhorte wyth wholesome learnynge, and to improue them, that saye agaynste it.
1:10For there are many dysobedyent: & talkers of vanitye and disceyuers of myndes, namely they of the circumcision,
1:11whose mouthes must be stopped: whiche peruerte whole houses teachynge thynges whiche they oughte not because of fylthy lucre.
1:12One beyng of them selues, which was a poete of theyr owne, said: The Cretians are alwayes lyars, euil beastes and slowe belyes.

1:14and not takyng hede to Iewes fables and commaundementes of men that turne from the truethe.
1:15Vnto the pure are all thynges pure, but vnto them that are defyled and vnbeleuynge, is nothynge pure: but euen the very myndes and consciences of them are defyled.
1:16They confesse that they knowe God: but wyth the dedes they denye hym, and are abhomynable and dysobedient, and vnto all good workes discommendable.

1:1Paul the seruaunt of God, and apostle of Iesu Christ accordinge to the fayth of goddes electe, and accordynge to the knowledge of the trueth, which is after godlynes
1:2in the hope of eternall lyfe, which God (that cannot lye) promysed before the worlde beganne:
1:3but hath opened his worde at the tyme appoynted thorowe preachinge, which is commytted vnto me, accordynge to the commaundement of God oure saueoure.
1:4To Tytus hys naturall sonne after the commen fayth. Grace mercy & peace from God the father & from the Lorde Iesu Christ oure saueoure.
1:5For this cause left I the in Creta, that thou shuldest refourme the thynges that are vnperfect, & shuldest ordeyne elders in euery cytie, as I had appoynted the.
1:6If eny be blamelesse, the husband of one wyfe, hauynge faythfull children, which are not slaundred of ryote, nether are disobedient.
1:7For a bysshope must be blamesse, as the stewarde of God: not stubborne, not angrye not geuen to moch wyne, no fyghter, not geuen to fylthy lucre:
1:8but a keper of hospitalite, one that loueth goodnes sobre, ryghteous, godly, temperat,
1:9and such as cleueth vnto the true worde of doctryne, that he maye be able also to exhorte by wholsome learnynge, & to improue them that saye agaynst it.
1:10For ther are many vnruely and talkers of vanite, and disceauers of myndes, specially they that are of the circumcision,
1:11whose mouthes must be stopped which peruert whole houses, teachinge thinges which they ought not, because of fylthy lucre.
1:12One of them selues (euen a prophete of their awne) sayde: The Cretyans are all wayes lyars, euyll beastes, slowe belyes.
1:13Thys wytnes is true: wherfore rebuke thou them sharply, that they maye be sounde in the fayth,
1:14not takynge hede to Iewes fables and commaundementes of men that turne awaye the trueth.
1:15Unto the pure, are all thynges pure: but vnto them that are defyled and vnbeleuynge, is nothynge pure: but euen the mynde and conscience of them is defyled.
1:16They confesse that they knowe God: but with the dedes they denye hym seinge they are abominable and disobedient, & vnapte vnto euery good worcke.

1:1Paul a seruaunt of God, and an Apostle of Iesus Christ, according to the faith of Gods elect, and the acknowledging of the trueth, which is according vnto godlines,
1:2Vnto the hope of eternall life, which God that cannot lie, hath promised before the world began:
1:3But hath made his worde manifest in due time through the preaching, which is committed vnto me, according to the commandement of God our Sauiour:
1:4To Titus my naturall sonne according to the common faith, Grace, mercie and peace from God the Father, and from the Lord Iesus Christ our Sauiour.
1:5For this cause left I thee in Creta, that thou shouldest continue to redresse the thinges that remaine, and shouldest ordeine Elders in euery citie, as I appointed thee,
1:6If any be vnreproueable, the husband of one wife, hauing faithfull children, which are not slandered of riot, neither are disobedient.
1:7For a Bishop must bee vnreproueable, as Gods steward, not froward, not angrie, not giuen to wine, no striker, not giuen to filthie lucre,
1:8But harberous, one that loueth goodnesse, wise, righteous, holy, temperate,
1:9Holding fast that faithfull worde according to doctrine, that he also may bee able to exhort with wholesome doctrine, and conuince them that say against it.
1:10For there are many disobedient and vaine talkers and deceiuers of mindes, chiefly they of the Circumcision,
1:11Whose mouthes must bee stopped, which subuert whole houses, teaching things, which they ought not, for filthie lucres sake.
1:12One of themselues, euen one of their owne prophets said, The Cretians are alwaies liars, euill beastes, slowe bellies.
1:13This witnesse is true: wherefore conuince them sharply, that they may be sound in ye faith,
1:14And not taking heede to Iewish fables and commandements of men, that turne away from the trueth.
1:15Vnto the pure are all things pure, but vnto them that are defiled, and vnbeleeuing, is nothing pure, but euen their mindes and consciences are defiled.
1:16They professe that they know God, but by works they deny him, and are abominable and disobedient, and vnto euery good worke reprobate.
