| 9:1 | Then verily the first Couenant had also ordinances of diuine Seruice, and a worldly Sanctuary. |
| 9:2 | For there was a Tabernacle made, the first, wherein was the Candlesticke, and the Table, and the Shewbread, which is called the Sanctuarie. |
| 9:3 | And after the second vaile, the Tabernacle which is called ye Holiest of all: |
| 9:4 | Which had the golden Censor, and the Arke of the Couenant ouerlayed round about with gold, wherein was the Golden pot that had Manna, and Aarons rod that budded, and the Tables of the Couenant. |
| 9:5 | And ouer it the Cherubims of glory shadowing the Mercyseat; of which we cannot now speake particularly. |
| 9:6 | Now when these things were thus ordained, the Priestes went alwayes into the first Tabernacle, accomplishing the seruice of God. |
| 9:7 | But into the second went the high Priest alone once euery yeere, not without blood, which he offered for himselfe, and for the errors of the people. |
| 9:8 | The holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the Holiest of all, was not yet made manifest, while as the first Tabernacle was yet standing: |
| 9:9 | Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offred both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the seruice perfect, as pertayning to the conscience, |
| 9:10 | Which stood onely in meates and drinkes, and diuers washings, and carnall ordinances imposed on them vntill the time of reformation. |
| 9:11 | But Christ being come an high Priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect Tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building: |
| 9:12 | Neither by the blood of Goats and Calues: but by his owne blood hee entred in once into the Holy place, hauing obtained eternall redemption for vs. |
| 9:13 | For if the blood of Bulls, and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the vncleane, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: |
| 9:14 | How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit, offered himselfe without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead workes, to serue the liuing God? |
| 9:15 | And for this cause hee is the Mediatour of the New Testament, that by meanes of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were vnder the first Testament, they which are called, might receiue the promise of eternall inheritance. |
| 9:16 | For where a Testament is, there must also of necessitie bee the death of the Testatour. |
| 9:17 | For a Testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all whilest the Testatour liueth. |
| 9:18 | Whereupon, neither the first Testament was dedicated without blood. |
| 9:19 | For when Moses had spoken euery precept to all the people according to the Law, he tooke the blood of Calues and of Goates, with water and scarlet wooll, and hysope, and sprinckled both the booke and all the people, |
| 9:20 | Saying, This is the blood of the Testament which God hath enioyned vnto you. |
| 9:21 | Moreouer, hee sprinkled with blood both the Tabernacle, and all the vessels of the Ministery. |
| 9:22 | And almost all things are by the Law purged with blood: and without shedding of blood is no remission. |
| 9:23 | It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heauens should bee purified with these, but the heauenly things themselues with better sacrifices then these. |
| 9:24 | For Christ is not entred into the Holy places made with handes, which are the figures of the true, but into heauen it selfe, now to appeare in the presence of God for vs. |
| 9:25 | Nor yet that he should offer himselfe often, as the high Priest entreth into the Holy place, euery yeere with blood of others: |
| 9:26 | For then must hee often haue suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world, hath he appeared to put away sinne by the sacrifice of himselfe. |
| 9:27 | And as it is appointed vnto men once to die, but after this the Iudgement: |
| 9:28 | So Christ was once offered to beare the sinnes of many, & vnto them that looke for him shall hee appeare the second time without sinne, vnto saluation. |

| 9:2 | For there was made a foretabernacle, wherin was ye candilsticke, and the table, and the shewe bred: and this is called ye Holy. |
| 9:3 | But behynde the seconde vayle was the Tabernacle which is called Holiest of all, |
| 9:4 | which had the golden censor, and the Arke of the Testament ouerlayed rounde aboute with golde, wherin was the golden pot with Manna, and Aarons rodd that florished, and the tables of the Testament: |
| 9:5 | Aboue therin were the Cherubins off glory ouershadowynge the Mercyseate: Of which thinges it is not now to speake perticularly. |
| 9:6 | When these thinges were thus ordeyned, the prestes wente allwayes in to the first Tabernacle, and excuted ye seruyce of God. |
| 9:7 | But in to the seconde wente the hye prest alone once in the yeare, not without bloude, which he offred for himselfe and for the ignoraunce of the people. |
| 9:8 | Wherwith the holy goost this signifyeth, that the waye of holynes was not yet opened, whyle as yet the first Tabernacle was stondynge. |
| 9:9 | Which was a symilitude for the tyme then present, in the which were offred giftes and sacrifices, and coulde not make perfecte (as partaynynge to the conscience) him, that dyd the Gods seruyce |
| 9:10 | onely with meates and drynkes, and dyuerse wasshinges, and iustifienges of the flesh, which were ordeyned vnto the tyme of reformacion. |
| 9:11 | But Christ beynge an hye prest of good thinges to come, came by a greater and a more perfecte Tabernacle, not made with handes, that is to saye, not of this maner buyldynge: |
| 9:12 | nether by the bloude of goates or calues: but by his owne bloude entred he once for all in to the holy place, and hath founde eternall redempcion. |
| 9:13 | For yff the bloude off oxen and off goates, and the asshes off the cowe whan it is sprenkled, haloweth the vncleane as touchynge the purificacion of the flesh, |
| 9:14 | How moch more shal the bloude of Christ (which thorow the eternall sprete offred him selfe without spot vnto God) pourge oure conscience from deed workes, for to serue the lyuynge God? |
| 9:15 | And for this cause is he ye mediatour of the new Testament, that thorow death which chaunsed for the redempcion of those trasgressions (that were vnder the first Testament) they which were called mighte receaue the promes of eternall inheritaunce. |
| 9:16 | For where soeuer is a Testament, there must also be the death of him that maketh the testament. |
| 9:17 | For a Testamet taketh auctorite whan men are deed: for it is no value, as longe as he that made it is alyue. |
| 9:18 | For the which cause that first Testamet also was not ordeyned without bloude. |
| 9:19 | For whan all the commaundementes (acordinge to the lawe) were red of Moses vnto all the people, he toke ye bloude of calues and of goates, with water and purple woll and ysope, and sprenkled the boke and all the people, |
| 9:20 | sayenge: This is the bloude of the Testament, which God hath appoynted vnto you. |
| 9:21 | And the Tabernakle and all the vessels of the Gods seruyce sprenkled he with bloude likewyse. |
| 9:22 | And allmost all thinges are pourged with bloude after the lawe: and without sheddynge of bloude is no remyssion. |
| 9:23 | It is necessary then, that the symilitude of heauenly thinges be purified with soche: but ye heauenly thinges themselues are purified with better sacrifices, then are those. |
| 9:24 | For Christ is not entred into the holy places yt are made with handes (which are but symilitudes of true thinges) but in to the very heauen, for to apeare now before the face of God for vs: |
| 9:25 | Not to offer himselfe offt as the hye prest entreth in to the holy place euery yeare with straunge bloude: |
| 9:26 | for the must he often haue suffred sence the worlde beganne. But now in the ende of the worlde hath he appeared once, to put synne to flight, by the offerynge vp of himselfe. |
| 9:27 | And as it is appoynted vnto me yt they shal once dye, and then cometh the iudgmet: Eue |
| 9:28 | so Christ was once offred, to take awaye the synnes of many. And vnto them that loke for him, shal he appeare agayne without synne vnto saluacion. |
| 9:1 | And the former testament hadde iustefiyngis of worschip, and hooli thing duringe for a tyme. |
| 9:2 | For the tabernacle was maad first, in which weren candilstikis, and boord, and setting forth of looues, which is seid hooli. |
| 9:3 | And after the veil, the secounde tabernacle, that is seid sancta sanctorum, that is, hooli of hooli thingis; |
| 9:4 | hauynge a goldun cenrer, and the arke of the testament, keuered aboute on ech side with gold, in which was a pot of gold hauynge manna, and the yerde of Aaron that florischide, and the tablis of the testament; |
| 9:5 | on whiche thingis weren cherubyns of glorie, ouerschadewinge the propiciatorie; of whiche thingis it is not now to seie bi alle. |
| 9:6 | But whanne these weren maad thus togidere, preestis entriden eueremore in the formere tabernacle, doynge the offices of sacrifices; but in the secounde tabernacle, |
| 9:7 | the bischop entride onys in the yeer, not without blood, which he offride for his ignoraunce and the puplis. |
| 9:8 | For the Hooli Goost signefiede this thing, that not yit the weie of seyntis was openyd, while the formere tabernacle hadde staat. |
| 9:9 | Which parable is of this present tyme, bi which also yiftis and sacrifices ben offrid, whiche moun not make a man seruynge perfit bi conscience, oneli in metis, |
| 9:10 | and drynkis, and dyuerse waischingis, and riytwisnessis of fleisch, that weren sett to the tyme of correccioun. |
| 9:11 | But Crist beynge a bischop of goodis to comynge, entride bi a largere and perfitere tabernacle, not maad bi hoond, that is to seye, |
| 9:12 | not of this makyng, nether bi blood of goot buckis, or of calues, but bi his owne blood, entride onys in to the hooli thingis, that weren foundun bi an euerlastinge redempcioun. |
| 9:13 | For if the blood of gootbuckis, and of boolis, and the aische of a cow calf spreynd, halewith vnclene men to the clensing of fleisch, |
| 9:14 | hou myche more the blood of Crist, which bi the Hooli Goost offride hym silf vnwemmyd to God, schal clense oure conscience fro deed werkis, to serue God that lyueth? |
| 9:15 | And therfor he is a mediatour of the newe testament, that bi deth fallinge bitwixe, in to redempcioun of tho trespassyngis that weren vndur the formere testament, thei that ben clepid take the biheest of euerlastinge eritage. |
| 9:16 | For where a testament is, it is nede, that the deth of the testament makere come bitwixe. |
| 9:17 | For a testament is confermed in deed men; ellis it is not worthe, while he lyueth, that made the testament. |
| 9:18 | Wherfor nether the firste testament was halewid without blood. |
| 9:19 | For whanne ech maundement of the lawe was red of Moises to al the puple, he took the blood of calues, and of buckis of geet, with watir, and reed wolle, and ysope, and bispreynde bothe thilke book and al the puple, |
| 9:20 | and seide, This is the blood of the testament, that God comaundide to you. |
| 9:21 | Also he spreynde with blood the tabernacle, and alle the vessels of the seruyce in lijk maner. |
| 9:22 | And almest alle thingis ben clensid in blood bi the lawe; and without scheding of blood remyssioun of synnes is not maad. |
| 9:23 | Therfor it is nede, that the saumpleris of heuenli thingis be clensid with these thingis; but thilke heuenli thingis with betere sacrificis than these. |
| 9:24 | For Jhesus entride not in to hooli thingis maad bi hoondis, that ben saumpleris of very thingis, but in to heuene it silf, that he appere now to the cheer of God for vs; nether that he offre him silf ofte, |
| 9:25 | as the bischop entride in to hooli thingis bi alle yeeris in alien blood, |
| 9:26 | ellis it bihofte hym to suffre ofte fro the bigynnyng of the world; but now onys in the ending of worldis, to distruccioun of synne bi his sacrifice he apperide. |
| 9:27 | And as it is ordeynede to men, |
| 9:28 | onys to die, but aftir this is the dom, so Crist was offrid onys, to auoyde the synnes of many men; the secounde tyme he schal appere with outen synne to men that abiden him in to heelthe. |
