1:1	Peter an Apostle of Iesu Chryst, to them that dwell here and there as straun thorowout Pontus, Galacia, Capadocya: Asia, and Bethynia, elect
1:2	accordyng to the for knowledge of God the farthe thorow the sanctifynge of the sprete vnto obedience & sprincklyng of the bloude of Iesus Chryst. Grace be wyth you and peace be multiplyed.
1:3	Blessed be God the father of oure Lord Iesus Chryst, whych accordyng to his aboundant mercye begat vs agayne vnto a lyuely hope (by that that Iesus Christ rose agayne from deeth)
1:4	to an inherytaunce immortall and vndefyled, and that perissheth not, reserued in heauen for you,
1:5	whych are kept by the power of of God thorow fayth, vnto saluacion, whych is prepared allready to be shewed in the last tyme,
1:6	in the whych ye reioyce, though now for a season (yf nede require) ye are in heuynes, thorowe manifolde temptacyons,
1:7	that the triall of youre fayth beyng moche more precious then golde that peryssheth (though it be tryed with fyre) myght be founde vnto laude, glory and honoure, at the apperynge of Iesus Chryst,
1:8	whom ye haue not sene, & yet loue hym, in whome euen now, though ye se hym not, yet do you beleue, and reioyce with ioye vnspeakable and glorious
1:9	receauyge the ende of your fayth, euen the saluacyon of youre soules.
1:10	Of whych saluacyon haue the Prophetes enquyred and searched, whych prophesyed of the grace that shuld come vnto you,
1:11	searchyng when or at what tyme the sprete of Chryst (whych was in them) shuld sygnifye, whych sprete testifyed before, the passyons that shuld happen vnto Chryst, & the glory that shulde folowe after,
1:12	vnto whych Prophetes it was also declared, that not vnto them selues, but vnto vs, they shulde minyster the thynges whych are now shewed vnto you of them, whych (by the holy goost sent downe from heauen) haue in the Gospell preached vnto you the thynges, whych the angels desyre to beholde.
1:13	Wherfore gyrde vp the loynes of youre mynde, be sober, & trust perfectly on the grace that is brought vnto you (by the declaryng of Iesus Chryst)
1:14	as obedient chyldren, that ye geue not youre selues ouer vnto youre olde lustes,
1:15	by whych ye were led, whan as yet ye were ignoraunt of Christ: but as he which called you, is holy, euen so be ye holy also in all maner of conuersacyon,
1:16	because it is written. Be holy, for I am holy.
1:17	And yf so be that ye call on the father, which wythout respect of person iudgeth according to euery mannes worke, se that ye passe the tyme of youre pilgremage in feare.
1:18	For as moch as ye knowe, how that ye were not redemed wyth corruptible thynges (as syluer & golde) from youre vayne conuersacion, whych ye receaued by the tradicion of the fathers:
1:19	but wt the precious bloude of Chryst, as of a lambe vndefyled, and wythout spot,
1:20	whych was ordeyned before hande, euen before the worlde was made: but was declared in the last tymes for your sakes,
1:21	whych by his meanes do beleue on God, that raysed hym vp from deeth, & gloryfyed hym, that ye might haue fayth and hope toward God:
1:22	euen ye whych haue purifyed youre soules thorow the sprete, in obeynge the trueth wyth brotherly loue vnfayned, se that ye loue one another wyth a pure hert feruently:
1:23	for ye are borne a newe, not of mortall seed, but of immortall, by the worde of God, which lyueth and lasteth for euer.
1:24	For all flesshe is grasse, and all the glory of man is as the floure of grasse. The grasse wyddereth, and the floure falleth awaye,
1:25	but the worde of the Lord endureth euer And thys is the worde, whych by the Gospell was preached vnto you.

1:2	of Asye, and of Bitynye, bi the `bifor knowyng of God, the fadir, in halewyng of spirit, bi obedience, and springyng of the blood of Jhesu Crist, grace and pees be multiplied to you.
1:3	Blessid be God, and the fadir of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, which bi his greet merci bigat vs ayen in to lyuynge hope, bi the ayen risyng of Jhesu Crist fro deth,
1:4	in to eritage vncorruptible, and vndefoulid, and that schal not fade, that is kept in heuenes for you,
1:5	that in the vertu of God ben kept bi the feith in to heelthe, and is redi to be schewid in the last tyme.
1:6	In which ye schulen make ioye, thouy it bihoueth now a litil to be sori in dyuerse temptaciouns;
1:7	that the preuyng of youre feith be myche more preciouse than gold, that is preuyd bi fier; and be foundun in to heriyng, and glorie, and onour, in the reuelacioun of Jhesu Crist.
1:8	Whom whanne ye han not seyn, ye louen; in to whom also now ye not seynge, bileuen; but ye that bileuen schulen haue ioye, and gladnesse that may not be teld out,
1:9	and ye schulen be glorified, and haue the ende of youre feith, the helthe of youre soulis.
1:10	Of which helthe profetis souyten, and enserchiden, that profecieden of the grace to comyng in you,
1:11	and souyten which euer what maner tyme the spirit of Crist signyfiede in hem, and bifor telde tho passiouns, that ben in Crist, and the latere glories.
1:12	To which it was schewid, for not to hem silf, but to you thei mynystriden tho thingis, that now ben teld to you bi hem that prechiden to you bi the Hooli Goost sent fro heuene, in to whom aungelis desiren to biholde.
1:13	For which thing be ye gird the leendis of youre soule, sobre, perfit, and hope ye in to the ilke grace that is profrid to you bi the schewyng of Jhesu Crist,
1:14	as sones of obedience, not made lijk to the formere desiris of youre vnkunnyngnesse,
1:15	but lijk him that hath `clepid you hooli; that also `ye silf be hooli in `al lyuyng;
1:16	for it is writun, Ye schulen be hooli, for Y am hooli.
1:17	And if ye inwardli clepe him fadir, which demeth withouten accepcioun of persoones bi the werk of ech man, lyue ye in drede in the time of youre pilgrimage; witynge that not bi corruptible gold,
1:18	ethir siluer, ye ben bouyt ayen of youre veyn liuynge of fadris tradicioun,
1:19	but bi the precious blood as of the lomb vndefoulid and vnspottid,
1:20	Crist Jhesu, that was knowun bifor the makyng of the world, but he is schewid in the laste tymes,
1:21	for you that bi hym ben feithful in God; that reiside hym fro deth, and yaf to hym euerlastynge glorie, that youre feith and hope were in God.
1:22	And make ye chast youre soulis in obedience of charite, in loue of britherhod; of simple herte loue ye togidre more bisili.
1:23	And be ye borun ayen, not of corruptible seed, `but vncorruptible, bi the word of lyuynge God, and dwellynge in to with outen ende.
1:24	For ech fleisch is hey, and al the glorie of it is as flour of hey; the hei driede vp, and his flour felde doun;
1:25	but the word of the Lord dwellith with outen ende. And this is the word, that is prechid to you.

1:3	Blessed be God and the father of oure LORDE Iesus Christ, which acordinge to his greate mercy hath begotten vs agayne vnto a lyuely hope by the resurreccion of Iesus Christ from the deed,
1:4	to an vncorruptible and vndefyled inheritaunce, which neuer shal fade awaye, but is reserued in heauen for you
1:5	that are kepte by the power of God thorow faith to saluacion, which is prepared all ready to be shewed in the last tyme:
1:6	in the which ye shal reioyse, though now for a litle season (yff nede requyre) ye are in heuynes thorow manyfolde temptacions:
1:7	that youre faith once tryed (beynge moch more precious then the corruptible golde that is tryed thorow the fyre) might be founde vnto laude, glory and honoure at the appearynge of Iesus Christ:
1:8	whom ye haue not sene, and yet loue him: in whom now ye beleue, though ye se him not. Euen so shal ye reioyce also with vnoutspeakable and glorious ioye,
1:9	receauynge the ende of youre faith, euen the saluacion of youre soules.
1:10	Of which saluacion the prophetes haue enquyred and searched, which prophecied off the grace that shulde come vpon you:
1:11	searchinge whan or at what tyme the sprete off Christ that was in them, shulde signifye, which (sprete) testified before the passions that shulde come vnto Christ, and the glory that shulde folowe after.
1:12	Vnto the which (prophetes) it was declared, that not vnto them selues, but vnto vs they shulde mynister the thinges which are now shewed vnto you, by them which thorow ye holy goost sent downe from heauen, haue preached vnto you the thinges which the a

1:17	And yf so be that ye call on the father, which without respecte of personnes iudgeth acordynge to euery mans worke, se yt ye passe ye tyme of youre pilgremage in feare:
1:18	and knowe, that ye were not redemed wt corruptible syluer and golde, from youre vayne conuersacion (which ye receaued by the tradicios of the fathers)
1:19	but with the precious bloude of Christ, as of an innocet and vndefyled lambe,
1:20	which was ordeyned before the worlde was made, but is declared in these last tymes for youre sakes,
1:21	which thorow him beleue on God, that raysed him vp from the deed, and hath geue him the glory, that ye might haue faith & hope in God:
1:22	Euen ye which haue purifyed youre soules in obeyenge the trueth thorow the sprete, for to loue brotherly without faynynge, & feruently one to loue another wt a pure hert,
1:23	as they that are borne a new, not of corruptible sede, but of vncorruptible, eue by the lyuynge worde of God, which endureth for euer.
1:24	For all flesh is as grasse, and all the glory of man is as the floure of grasse. The grasse withereth, & the floure falleth awaye
1:25	but the worde of the LORDE endureth for euer. This is the worde, that is preached amonge you.
