| 3:1 | Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; |
| 3:2 | While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. |
| 3:3 | Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; |
| 3:4 | But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. |
| 3:5 | For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: |
| 3:6 | Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. |
| 3:7 | Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. |
| 3:8 | Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: |
| 3:9 | Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. |
| 3:10 | For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: |
| 3:11 | Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. |
| 3:12 | For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. |
| 3:13 | And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? |
| 3:14 | But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; |
| 3:15 | But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: |
| 3:16 | Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. |
| 3:17 | For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. |
| 3:18 | For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: |
| 3:19 | By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; |
| 3:20 | Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. |
| 3:21 | The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: |
| 3:22 | Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him. |
| 3:1 | ομοιως αι γυναικες υποτασσομεναι τοις ιδιοις ανδρασιν ινα και ει τινες απειθουσιν τω λογω δια της των γυναικων αναστροφης ανευ λογου κερδηθησωνται |

| 3:3 | ων εστω ουχ ο εξωθεν εμπλοκης τριχων και περιθεσεως χρυσιων η ενδυσεως ιματιων κοσμος |
| 3:4 | αλλ ο κρυπτος της καρδιας ανθρωπος εν τω αφθαρτω του πραεος και ησυχιου πνευματος ο εστιν ενωπιον του θεου πολυτελες |
| 3:5 | ουτως γαρ ποτε και αι αγιαι γυναικες αι ελπιζουσαι επι τον θεον εκοσμουν εαυτας υποτασσομεναι τοις ιδιοις ανδρασιν |
| 3:6 | ως σαρρα υπηκουσεν τω αβρααμ κυριον αυτον καλουσα ης εγενηθητε τεκνα αγαθοποιουσαι και μη φοβουμεναι μηδεμιαν πτοησιν |
| 3:7 | οι ανδρες ομοιως συνοικουντες κατα γνωσιν ως ασθενεστερω σκευει τω γυναικειω απονεμοντες τιμην ως και συγκληρονομοι χαριτος ζωης εις το μη εκκοπτεσθαι τας προσευχας υμων |
| 3:8 | το δε τελος παντες ομοφρονες συμπαθεις φιλαδελφοι ευσπλαγχνοι φιλοφρονες |
| 3:9 | μη αποδιδοντες κακον αντι κακου η λοιδοριαν αντι λοιδοριας τουναντιον δε ευλογουντες ειδοτες οτι εις τουτο εκληθητε ινα ευλογιαν κληρονομησητε |
| 3:10 | ο γαρ θελων ζωην αγαπαν και ιδειν ημερας αγαθας παυσατω την γλωσσαν αυτου απο κακου και χειλη αυτου του μη λαλησαι δολον |
| 3:11 | εκκλινατω απο κακου και ποιησατω αγαθον ζητησατω ειρηνην και διωξατω αυτην |
| 3:12 | οτι οι οφθαλμοι κυριου επι δικαιους και ωτα αυτου εις δεησιν αυτων προσωπον δε κυριου επι ποιουντας κακα |
| 3:13 | και τις ο κακωσων υμας εαν του αγαθου μιμηται γενησθε |
| 3:14 | αλλ ει και πασχοιτε δια δικαιοσυνην μακαριοι τον δε φοβον αυτων μη φοβηθητε μηδε ταραχθητε |
| 3:15 | κυριον δε τον θεον αγιασατε εν ταις καρδιαις υμων ετοιμοι δε αει προς απολογιαν παντι τω αιτουντι υμας λογον περι της εν υμιν ελπιδος μετα πραυτητος και φοβου |
| 3:16 | συνειδησιν εχοντες αγαθην ινα εν ω καταλαλωσιν υμων ως κακοποιων καταισχυνθωσιν οι επηρεαζοντες υμων την αγαθην εν χριστω αναστροφην |
| 3:17 | κρειττον γαρ αγαθοποιουντας ει θελει το θελημα του θεου πασχειν η κακοποιουντας |
| 3:18 | οτι και χριστος απαξ περι αμαρτιων επαθεν δικαιος υπερ αδικων ινα ημας προσαγαγη τω θεω θανατωθεις μεν σαρκι ζωοποιηθεις δε τω πνευματι |
| 3:19 | εν ω και τοις εν φυλακη πνευμασιν πορευθεις εκηρυξεν |
| 3:20 | απειθησασιν ποτε οτε απαξ εξεδεχετο η του θεου μακροθυμια εν ημεραις νωε κατασκευαζομενης κιβωτου εις ην ολιγαι τουτ εστιν οκτω ψυχαι διεσωθησαν δι υδατος |
| 3:21 | ο και ημας αντιτυπον νυν σωζει βαπτισμα ου σαρκος αποθεσις ρυπου αλλα συνειδησεως αγαθης επερωτημα εις θεον δι αναστασεως ιησου χριστου |
| 3:22 | ος εστιν εν δεξια του θεου πορευθεις εις ουρανον υποταγεντων αυτω αγγελων και εξουσιων και δυναμεων |
| 3:1 | Lykewyse let the wyves be in subieccio to their husbades that eve they which beleve not the worde maye with out the worde be wonne by the conversacion of ye wyves: |
| 3:2 | whill they beholde youre pure coversacion coupled with feare. |
| 3:3 | Whose apparell shall not be outwarde with broyded heare and hanginge on of golde other in puttinge on of gorgious aparell: |
| 3:4 | but let the hyd man of the herte be incorrupt with a meke and a quyet sprete which sprete is before God a thinge moche set by. |
| 3:5 | For after this maner in the olde tyme dyd the holy wemen which trusted in God tyer the selves and were obediet to their husbades |
| 3:6 | eve as Sara obeyed Abraha and called him Lorde: whose doughters ye are as longe as ye do well and be not afrayde of every shadowe. |
| 3:7 | Lyke wyse ye men dwell with them accordinge to knowledge gevinge honoure vnto the wyfe as vnto the weaker vessell and as vnto them that are heyres also of the grace of lyfe that youre prayers be not let. |
| 3:8 | In coclusion be ye all of one mynde one suffre with another love as brethren be petifull be courteous |
| 3:9 | not redringe evyll for evyll nether rebuke for rebuke: but contrary wyse blesse remembringe yt ye are thervnto called even yt ye shuld be heyres of blessinge. |
| 3:10 | If eny ma longe after life and loveth to se good dayes let him refrayne his tonge fro evyll and his lippes that they speake not gyle. |
| 3:11 | Let him eschue evyll and do good: let him seke peace and ensue it. |
| 3:12 | For ye eyes of ye Lorde are over ye righteous and his eares are open vnto their prayers. But ye face of the Lorde beholdeth the that do evyll. |
| 3:13 | Moreover who is it that will harme you yf ye folowe yt which is good? |
| 3:14 | Not withstondynge happy are ye yf ye suffre for rightewesnessis sake. Ye and feare not though they seme terrible vnto you nether be troubled: |
| 3:15 | but sanctifie the Lorde God in youre hertes. Be redy all wayes to geve an answere to every man that axeth you a reson of the hope that is in you and that with meaknes and feare: |
| 3:16 | havinge a good consciece that when they backbyte you as evyll doars they maye be ashamed for as moche as they have falsely accused youre good conversacion in Christ. |
| 3:17 | It is better (yf the wyll of God be so) that ye suffre for well doynge then for evyll doynge. |
| 3:18 | For as moche as Christ hath once suffered for synnes ye iuste for ye vniuste forto bringe vs to God and was kylled as pertayninge to the flesshe: but was quyckened in the sprete. |
| 3:19 | In which sprete he also wet and preached vnto the spretes that were in preson |
| 3:20 | which were in tyme passed disobedient when the longe sufferinge of God abode excedinge paciently in the dayes of Noe whyll the arcke was a preparinge wherin feawe (that is to saye.viii soules) were saved by water |
| 3:21 | which signifieth baptim that now saveth vs not ye puttinge awaye of ye filth of the flesshe but in that a good conscience consenteth to God by ye resurreccio of Iesus Christ |
| 3:22 | which is oure right honde of God and is gone into heve angels power and myght subdued vnto him. |
