| 3:1 | Likewyse ye wyues be in subieccyon to youre husbandes, that euen they whych obeye not the worde, maye without the worde be wonne by the conuersacyon of the wyues, |
| 3:2 | whyll they beholde youre chast conuersacyon coupled wyth feare. |
| 3:3 | Whose apparell shall not be outward wt broyded heare, & hangyng on of golde, ether in puttynge on of gorgyous apparell: |
| 3:4 | but let the hyd man which is in the herte, be without all corrupcyon, so that the sprete be at rest and quyete: whych sprete is before God a thynge moch set by. |
| 3:5 | For after this maner in the olde tyme dyd the holy wemen which trusted in God, tyer them selues, and were obedient to their husbandes, |
| 3:6 | euen as Sara obeyed Abraham, and called hym Lorde: whose daughters ye are, as longe as ye do well, & are not afrayde for anye terrour. |
| 3:7 | Lykewyse, ye men, dwell with them accordynge to knowledge: geuyng honoure vnto the wife, as vnto the weaker vessell, & as vnto them that are heyres also of the grace of lyfe that youre prayers be not hyndred. |
| 3:8 | In conclusyon, be ye all of one mynde, of one hart & loue as brethren, be petifull, be courteous |
| 3:9 | not rendrynge euyll for euyll, or rebuke for rebuke: but contrarywise, blesse: knowinge that ye are ther vnto called, euen that ye shulde be heyres of the blessynge. |
| 3:10 | For he that doth longe after lyfe, and loueth to se good dayes, let hym refrayne his tonge from euyll, & his lippes that they speake not gyle. |
| 3:11 | Let him eschue euyll, & do good: let him seke peace, and ensue it. |
| 3:12 | For the eyes of the Lord are ouer the ryghteous, and hys eares are open vnto their prayers. Agayne: the face of the Lorde is ouer them that do euyll. |
| 3:13 | Morouer, who is it that wyll harme you, yf ye folowe that whych is good? |
| 3:14 | Yee, happy are ye, yf anye trouble happen vnto you for rightewesnesse sake. Be not ye afrayed for anye terroure of them, nether be ye troubled |
| 3:15 | but sanctifye the Lorde God in youre hertes Be ready allwayes to geue an answere to euery man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, and that with meaknes and feare: |
| 3:16 | hauynge a good conscience that where as they backbyte you as euyll doars, they maye be ashamed, that falsely accuse your good conuersacion in Chryst. |
| 3:17 | For it is better (yf the wyll of God be so) that ye suffre for well doynge, then for euyll doinge. |
| 3:18 | For as moch as Christ hath once suffered for synnes, the iust for the vniust, to bring vs to God, and was kylled, as pertayninge to the flesshe: but was quyckened in the sprete. |
| 3:19 | In whych sprete he also went & preached vnto the spretes that were in preson, |
| 3:20 | which some tyme had bene disobedyent, when the longe sufferynge of God was once loked for in the dayes of Noe whyll the arcke was a preparyng: wherin feaw, that is to saye .viij. soules, were saued by the water, |
| 3:21 | like as baptyme also now saueth vs, not the puttynge awaye of the fylth of the flesshe, but in that a good conseyence consenteth to God, by the resurreccyon of Iesus Christ, |
| 3:22 | whych is on the ryghte hande of God: and is gone into heauen, angels, powers, and myght subdued vnto hym. |
| 3:1 | Also wymmen be thei suget to her hosebondis; that if ony man bileue not to the word, bi the conuersacioun of wymmen thei be wonnun with out word. |

| 3:3 | Of whiche `ther be not with outforth curious ournyng of heer, ether doyng aboute of gold, ethir ournyng of clothing; |
| 3:4 | but thilke that is the hid man of herte, in vncorrupcioun, and of mylde spirit, which is riche in the siyt of God. |
| 3:5 | For so sumtyme hooli wymmen hopinge in God ourneden hem silf, and weren suget to her owne hosebondis. |
| 3:6 | As Sara obeied to Abraham, and clepide hym lord; of whom ye ben douytris wel doynge, and not dredynge ony perturbacioun. |
| 3:7 | Also men dwelle togidre, and bi kunnyng yyue ye onoure to the wommanus freeltee, as to the more feble, and as to euen eiris of grace and of lijf, that youre preieris be not lettid. |
| 3:8 | And in feith alle of oon wille in preier be ye eche suffringe with othere, loueris of britherhod, merciful, mylde, meke; |
| 3:9 | not yeldinge yuel for yuel, nether cursing for cursing, but ayenward blessinge; for in this thing ye ben clepid, that ye welde blessinge bi eritage. |
| 3:10 | For he that wole loue lijf, and se goode daies, constreyne his tunge from yuel, and hise lippis, that thei speke not gile. |
| 3:11 | And bowe he from yuel, and do good; seke he pees, and perfitli sue it. |
| 3:12 | For the iyen of the Lord ben on iust men, and hise eris on the preieris of hem; but the cheer of the Lord is on men that don yuels. |
| 3:13 | And who is it that schal anoye you, if ye ben sueris and louyeris of goodnesse? |
| 3:14 | But also if ye suffren ony thing for riytwisnesse, ye ben blessid; but drede ye not the drede of hem, that ye be not disturblid. |
| 3:15 | But halewe ye the Lord Crist in youre hertis, and euermore be ye redi to satisfaccioun to ech man axynge you resoun of that feith and hope that is in you, |
| 3:16 | but with myldenesse and drede, hauynge good conscience; that in that thing that thei bacbiten of you, thei ben confoundid, whiche chalengen falsly youre good conuersacioun in Crist. |
| 3:17 | For it is betere that ye do wel, and suffre, if the wille of God wole, than doynge yuele. |
| 3:18 | For also Crist onys diede for oure synnes, he iust for vniust, that he schulde offre to God vs, maad deed in fleisch, but maad quik in spirit. |
| 3:19 | For which thing he cam in spirit, and also to hem that weren closid togidre in prisoun prechide; |
| 3:20 | whiche weren sum tyme vnbileueful, whanne thei abididen the pacience of God in the daies of Noe, whanne the schip was maad, in which a few, that is to seie, eiyte soulis weren maad saaf bi water. |
| 3:21 | And so baptym of lijk forme makith vs saaf; not the puttyng awei of the filthis of fleisch, but the axyng of a good conscience in God, bi the ayenrysyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, that is in the riyt half of God, |
| 3:22 | and swolewith deth, that we schulden be made eiris of euerlastinge lijf. He yede in to heuene, and aungelis, and powers, and vertues, ben maad sugetis to hym. |

| 3:6 | Euen as Sara obeyed Abraham, and called him lorde: whose doughters ye are, as loge as ye do well, not beynge afrayed for eny trouble. |
| 3:7 | Likewyse ye men, dwell with them acordinge vnto knowlege, geuynge honor vnto the wife, as to the weaker vessel: & as vnto the yt are heyres with you of the grace of life, that youre prayers be not let. |
| 3:8 | But in conclusion be ye all of one mynde, one suffre with another, loue as brethren, be pitefull, be curteous. |
| 3:9 | Recopence not euell for euell, nether rebuke for rebuke: but cotrary wyse, blesse: and knowe that ye are called therto, euen yt ye shulde be heyres of ye blessynge. |
| 3:10 | For who so listeth to lyue, and wolde fayne se good dayes, Let him refrayne his tonge from euell, and his lippes yt they speake no gyle. |
| 3:11 | Let him eschue euell, & do good: Let him seke peace and ensue it. |
| 3:12 | For ye eyes of the LORDE are ouer the righteous, & his eares are open vnto their prayers. But ye face of the LORDE beholdeth the yt do euell. |

| 3:14 | Not withstodinge blessed are ye, yf ye suffre for righteousnes sake Feare not ye their threatnynge, nether be troubled, |
| 3:15 | but sanctifye the LORDE God in youre hertes. Be ready allwayes to geue an answere to euery ma, that axeth you a reason of the hope that is in you, and that with mekenes & feare, |
| 3:16 | hauynge a good conscience, that they which bacbyte you as euell doers, maye be ashamed, that they haue falsely accused youre good couersacion in Christ. |
| 3:17 | For it is better (yf the wyll of God be so) that ye suffre for well doynge, the for euell doynge. |
