| 12:4 | And there came a traueller vnto the rich man, and he spared to take of his owne flocke, and of his owne herd, to dresse for the wayfaring man that was come vnto him, but tooke the poore mans lambe, and dressed it for the man that was come to him. |

| 12:7 | And Nathan said to Dauid, Thou art the man: thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king ouer Israel, and I deliuered thee out of the hand of Saul, |
| 12:8 | And I gaue thee thy Masters house, and thy Masters wiues into thy bosome, and gaue thee the house of Israel and of Iudah, and if that had bene too litle, I would moreouer haue giuen vnto thee such and such things. |
| 12:9 | Wherefore hast thou despised the commandement of the Lord, to doe euill in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slaine him with the sword of the children of Ammon. |

| 12:12 | For thou diddest it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the Sunne. |
| 12:13 | And Dauid saide vnto Nathan, I haue sinned against the Lord. And Nathan saide vnto Dauid, The Lord also hath put away thy sinne, thou shalt not die. |

| 12:18 | And it came to passe on the seuenth day, that the childe died: and the seruants of Dauid feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they saide, Behold, while the childe was yet aliue, we spake vnto him, and he would not hearken vnto our voice: how will he then vexe himselfe, if we tell him that the childe is dead? |
| 12:19 | But when Dauid saw that his seruants whispered, Dauid perceiued that the childe was dead: therefore Dauid said vnto his seruants, Is the child dead? and they said, He is dead. |
| 12:20 | Then Dauid arose from the earth and washed, and anointed himselfe, and changed his apparell, and came into the house of the Lord, and worshipped: then hee came to his owne house, and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eate. |
| 12:21 | Then said his seruants vnto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weepe for the childe, while it was aliue, but when the childe was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread. |
| 12:22 | And he said, While the child was yet aliue, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell, whether God will be gracious to me, that the child may liue? |

So Dauid and all the people returned vnto Ierusalem. |
| 12:1 | Then the Lord sent Nathan vnto Dauid, who came to him, and sayd vnto him, There were two men in one citie, the one riche, and the other poore. |
| 12:2 | The rich man had exceeding many sheepe and oxen: |
| 12:3 | But the poore had none at all, saue one litle sheepe which he had bought, and nourished vp: and it grew vp with him, and with his children also, and did eate of his owne morsels, and dranke of his owne cup, and slept in his bosome, and was vnto him as his daughter. |
| 12:4 | Now there came a stranger vnto the rich man, who refused to take of his owne sheepe, and of his owne oxen to dresse for the stranger that was come vnto him, but tooke the poore mans sheepe, and dressed it for the man that was come to him. |
| 12:5 | Then Dauid was exceeding wroth with the man, and sayde to Nathan, As the Lord liueth, the man that hath done this thing, shall surely dye, |
| 12:6 | And he shall restore the lambe foure folde, because he did this thing, and had no pitie thereof. |
| 12:7 | Then Nathan sayd to Dauid, Thou art the man. Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, I anoynted thee King ouer Israel, and deliuered thee out of the hand of Saul, |
| 12:8 | And gaue thee thy lordes house, and thy lords wiues into thy bosome, and gaue thee the house of Israel, and of Iudah, and would moreouer (if that had bene too litle) haue giuen thee such and such things. |
| 12:9 | Wherefore hast thou despised the commandement of the Lord, to doe euill in his sight? thou hast killed Vriah the Hittite with ye sworde, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slaine him with the sworde of the children of Ammon. |
| 12:10 | Now therefore the sworde shall neuer depart from thine house, because thou hast despised me, and taken the wife of Vriah the Hittite to be thy wife. |
| 12:11 | Thus sayth the Lord, Behold, I will rayse vp euil against thee out of thine owne house, and will take thy wiues before thine eyes, and giue them vnto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wiues in the sight of this sunne. |
| 12:12 | For thou diddest it secretly: but I will doe this thing before all Israel, and before the sunne. |
| 12:13 | Then Dauid sayde vnto Nathan, I haue sinned against the Lord. And Nathan sayde vnto Dauid, The Lord also hath put away thy sinne, thou shalt not die. |
| 12:14 | Howbeit because by this deede thou hast caused the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the childe that is borne vnto thee shall surely die. |
| 12:15 | So Nathan departed vnto his house: and the Lord stroke the childe that Vriahs wife bare vnto Dauid, and it was sicke. |
| 12:16 | Dauid therefore besought God for the childe, and fasted and went in, and lay all night vpon the earth. |
| 12:17 | Then the Elders of his house arose to come vnto him, and to cause him to rise from the groud: but he would not, neither did he eate meate with them. |
| 12:18 | So on the seuenth day the child dyed: and the seruants of Dauid feared to tell him that the childe was dead: for they sayde, Beholde, while the childe was aliue, we spake vnto him, and he woulde not hearken vnto our voyce: how then shall we say vnto him, The childe is dead, to vexe him more? |
| 12:19 | But when Dauid sawe that his seruantes whispered, Dauid perceiued that the childe was dead: therefore Dauid sayde vnto his seruants, Is the childe dead? And they sayd, He is dead. |
| 12:20 | Then Dauid arose from the earth, and washed and anoynted himselfe, and changed his apparell, and came into the house of the Lord, and worshipped, and afterward came to his owne house, and bade that they should set bread before him, and he did eate. |
| 12:21 | Then saide his seruants vnto him, What thing is this, that thou hast done? thou diddest fast and weepe for the childe while it was aliue, but when the childe was dead, thou diddest rise vp, and eate meate. |
| 12:22 | And he sayde, While the childe was yet aliue, I fasted, and wept: for I sayde, Who can tell whether God will haue mercy on me, that the childe may liue? |
| 12:23 | But now being dead, wherefore shoulde I now fast? Can I bring him againe any more? I shall goe to him, but he shall not returne to me. |
| 12:24 | And Dauid comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in vnto her, and lay with her, and she bare a sonne, and he called his name Salomon: also the Lord loued him. |
| 12:25 | For the Lord had sent by Nathan the Prophet: therefore he called his name Iedidiah, because the Lord loued him. |
| 12:26 | Then Ioab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and tooke the citie of the kingdome. |
| 12:27 | Therefore Ioab sent messengers to Dauid, saying, I haue fought against Rabbah, and haue taken the citie of waters. |
| 12:28 | Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and besiege the city, that thou mayest take it, lest the victorie be attributed to me. |
| 12:29 | So Dauid gathered al the people together, and went against Rabbah, and besieged it, and tooke it. |
| 12:30 | And he tooke their Kings crowne from his head, (which weighed a talent of golde, with precious stones) and it was set on Dauids head: and he brought away the spoyle of the citie in exceeding great abundance. |
| 12:31 | And he carryed away the people that was therein, and put them vnder sawes, and vnder yron harowes, and vnder axes of yron, and cast them into the tyle kylne: euen thus did he with all the cities of the children of Ammon. Then Dauid and all the people returned vnto Ierusalem. |
| 12:1 | And the Lorde sent Nathan vnto Dauid. And he came vnto him and tolde hym: there were two men in one cytie, the one ryche, and the other poore. |
| 12:2 | The ryche man had excedynge many shepe and oxen. |
| 12:3 | But the poore had nothynge saue one lytle shepe, whych he had bought, and noryshhed vp. And it grewe vp wyth hym and wyth hys chyldren also, and dyd eate of hys awne meate, and drancke of hys awne cuppe, and slept in hys bosome, and was vnto hym as hys daughter. |
| 12:4 | And there cam a straunger vnto the ryche man. And he coulde not fynde in hys heart to take of hys awne shepe, and of hys awne oxen, to dresse for the straunger that was come vnto hym. But toke the poore mannes shepe, and dressed it for the man that was come to him: |
| 12:5 | And Dauid was excedyng wroth wt the man, and sayde to Nathan: as surely as the Lorde lyueth, the man that hath done this thyng is the chylde of deeth. |
| 12:6 | He shall restore the lambe twyse foure folde, because he dyd thys thynge, and had no pitye. |
| 12:7 | And Nathan sayth to Dauid: thou art the man. Thus sayth the Lorde God of Israel, I anoynted the kynge ouer Israel, and rydde the out of the hande of Saul, |
| 12:8 | I gaue the thy masters house, and thy masters wyues into thy bosome, and gaue the, the house of Israel and of Iuda, & might (yf that had bene to lytle) haue geuen the so moche moare. |
| 12:9 | Wherfore then hast thou despised the commaundement of the Lorde, to do wyckednesse in hys syght? thou hast kylde Urias the Hethite with the swerde, and hast taken his wife to thy wyfe, & hast slayne hym with the swerde of the chyldren of Ammon. |
| 12:10 | Nowe therfore, the swerde shall neuer depart from thyne house, because thou hast despysed me, and taken the wyfe of Urias the Hethite, to be thy wife. |
| 12:11 | Wherfore thus sayth the Lorde: beholde, I wyll stere vp euell agaynst the, euen out of thyne awne house, & wyll take thy wyues before thyne eyes, and geue them vnto thy neyghboure, and he shall lye wyth thy wyues in the syght of the sonne. |
| 12:12 | For thou dydest it secretly, But I wyll do thys thynge before all Israel, and in the open sonne lygth. |
| 12:13 | And Dauid sayde vnto Nathan I haue synned agaynst the Lorde. And Nathan sayd vnto Dauid: the Lorde also hath put awaye thy synne, thou shalt not dye. |
| 12:14 | Howbeit, because in doyng thys deade, thou hast geuen the enemyes of the Lord a cause to rayle, the chylde that is borne vnto the, shall surelye dye. |
| 12:15 | And Nathan departed vnto hys house. And the Lorde stroke the chylde that Urias wyfe bare vnto Dauid, and it sickened sore. |
| 12:16 | Dauid therfore besought God for the chylde, and fasted and went in, and laye all nyght vpon the erthe. |
| 12:17 | And the elders of hys house arose and went to hym, to take him vp from the erth. But he wolde not, nether dyd he eate meat wyth them. |
| 12:18 | And it happened the seuenth daye, that the chylde dyed. And the seruauntes of Dauid durst not tell him, that the chylde was deed. For they sayd: beholde, while the chyld was yet alyue, we spake vnto hym, and he wolde not herken vnto oure voyce. Howe wyll he then vexe hym selfe, yf we tell hym, that the chylde is deed? |
| 12:19 | But Dauid seynge hys seruauntes whysperynge, perceaued, that the chylde was deed, & Dauid sayd vnto hys seruauntes: is the chylde deed? They sayde: yee. |
| 12:20 | And Dauid arose from the erth, and washed and anoynted him selfe, and chaunged his apparell, & came into the house of the Lorde, & worshypped, & afterward cam to hys awne house and badd that they shulde set bred before hym, and he dyd eate. |
| 12:21 | Then sayd his seruauntes vnto hym: what thynge is thys, that thou hast done? Thou dyddest faste and wepe for the chylde, whyle it was a lyue, & as sone as it was deed, thou diddest ryse vp, and eate meate. |
| 12:22 | He sayde: whyle the chylde was yet a lyue, I fasted and wepte. For this I thought: who can tell whether God wyll haue mercye on me, that the chylde maye lyue. |
| 12:23 | But nowe, seynge it is deed, wherfore shulde I fast? can I brynge him agayne any moare? I shall go to hym, rather then he shall come agayne to me. |
| 12:24 | And Dauid conforted Bethsabe his wyfe, and went in vnto her, and laye wyth her, and she bare a sonne, and called his name Salomon, and the Lorde loued hym. |
| 12:25 | And he sent by the hande of Nathan the prophete, and called his name Iedidia, of the Lordes behalfe. |
| 12:26 | Ioab fought agaynst Raba the cytie of the chyldren of Ammon, and toke the cyty of the kyngdome. |
| 12:27 | And Ioab sent messengers to Dauid, sayeng: I haue made assawt to Raba, and haue taken the cytie wyth waters. |
| 12:28 | Nowe therfore geather the rest of the people together, and besege the cytie, that thou mayest take it: lest I take it, and call it after my name. |
| 12:29 | And Dauid geathered all the people together, and went agaynst Raba, & beseged it, and gatt it. |
| 12:30 | And he toke theyr kynges croune from of hys heed, which wayed an hundred wayght of golde, and in it were precyous stones. And it was set on Dauids heed. And he brought out the spoyle of the cytie in excedynge great aboundance. |
| 12:31 | And he caryed out the people that was therin, and put them vpon sawes and vpon yron harowes, and vpon axes of yron, & thrust them into the tylekell. Thus dyd he with all the cyties of the children of Ammon. And so Dauid and all the people returned vnto Ierusalem. |
