1 Kings - Chapter: 5

>
5:1And Hiram king of Tyre sent his seruants vnto Solomon: (for hee had heard that they had anointed him King in the roume of his father,) for Hiram was euer a louer of Dauid.
5:2And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,
5:3Thou knowest how that Dauid my father could not build an house vnto the Name of the Lord his God, for the warres which were about him on euery side, vntill the Lord put them vnder the soles of his feet.
5:4But now the Lord my God hath giuen me rest on euery side, so that there is neither aduersary, nor euill occurrent.
5:5And behold, I purpose to build an house vnto the Name of the Lord my God, as the Lord spake vnto Dauid my father, saying, Thy sonne, whom I will set vpon thy throne in thy roume, he shall build an house vnto my Name.
5:6Now therefore command thou, that they hew me Cedar trees out of Lebanon, and my seruants shall bee with thy seruants: and vnto thee will I giue hire for thy seruants, according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among vs, any that can skill to hew timber, like vnto the Sidonians.
5:7And it came to passe when Hiram heard the wordes of Solomon, that hee reioyced greatly, and said, Blessed be the Lord this day, which hath giuen vnto Dauid a wise sonne ouer this great people.
5:8And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I haue considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will doe all thy desire concerning timber of Cedar, and concerning timber of firre.
5:9My seruants shall bring them downe from Lebanon vnto the Sea: and I wil conuey them by sea in flotes, vnto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receiue them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giuing food for my houshold.
5:10So Hiram gaue Solomon Cedar trees, and Firre trees, according to all his desire.
5:11And Solomon gaue Hiram twentie thousand measures of wheate for food to his houshold, and twentie measures of pure oile: thus gaue Solomon to Hiram yeere by yeere.
5:12And the Lord gaue Solomon wisedome, as hee promised him: and there was peace betweene Hiram and Solomon, and they two made a league together.
5:13And King Solomon raised a leuie out of all Israel, and the leuie was thirtie thousand men.
5:14And hee sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a moneth by courses: a moneth they were in Lebanon, and two moneths at home: and Adoniram was ouer the leuie.
5:15And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourescore thousand hewers in the mountaines:
5:16Besides the chiefe of Solomons officers which were ouer the worke, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled ouer the people that wrought in the worke.
5:17And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
5:18And Solomons builders, and Hirams builders, did hewe them, and the stone-squarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.

 

5:1And Hiram King of Tyrus sent his seruants vnto Salomon, (for he had heard, that they had anoynted him King in the roume of his father) because Hiram had euer loued Dauid.
5:2Also Salomon sent to Hiram, saying,
5:3Thou knowest that Dauid my father could not build an house vnto the Name of the Lord his God, for the warres which were about him on euery side, vntill the Lord had put them vnder the soles of his feete.
5:4But now the Lord my God hath giuen me rest on euery side, so that there is neither aduersarie, nor euill to resist.
5:5And beholde, I purpose to build an house vnto ye Name of the Lord my God, as the Lord spake vnto Dauid my father, saying, Thy sonne, whom I wil set vpon thy throne for thee, he shall build an house vnto my Name.
5:6Now therefore commaund, that they hewe me cedar trees out of Lebanon, and my seruants shall be with thy seruants, and vnto thee will I giue the hire for thy seruants, according to all that thou shalt appoynt: for thou knowest that there are none among vs, that can hewe timber like vnto the Sidonians.
5:7And when Hiram heard the wordes of Salomon, he reioyced greatly, and sayde, Blessed be the Lord this day, which hath giuen vnto Dauid a wise sonne ouer this mightie people.
5:8And Hiram sent to Salomon, saying, I haue considered the things, for the which thou sentest vnto me, and will accomplish all thy desire, concerning the cedar trees and firre trees.
5:9My seruants shall bring them downe from Lebanon to the sea: and I will conuey them by sea in raftes vnto the place that thou shalt shew me, and wil cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receiue them: nowe thou shalt doe mee a pleasure to minister foode for my familie.
5:10So Hiram gaue Salomon cedar trees and firre trees, euen his full desire.
5:11And Salomon gaue Hiram twentie thousand measures of wheate for foode to his householde, and twentie measures of beaten oyle. Thus much gaue Salomon to Hiram yere by yere.
5:12And the Lord gaue Salomon wisedome as he promised him. And there was peace betweene Hiram and Salomon, and they two made a couenant.
5:13And King Salomon raised a summe out of all Israel, and the summe was thirtie thousand men:
5:14Whome he sent to Lebanon, ten thousand a moneth by course: they were a moneth in Lebanon, and two moneths at home. And Adoniram was ouer the summe.
5:15And Salomon had seuentie thousand that bare burdens, and fourescore thousand masons in the mountaine,
5:16Besides the princes, whome Salomon appoynted ouer the worke, euen three thousande and three hundreth, which ruled the people that wrought in the worke.
5:17And the King commanded them, and they brought great stones and costly stones to make the foundation of the house, euen hewed stones.
5:18And Salomons workemen, and the workemen of Hiram, and the masons hewed and prepared timber and stones for the buylding of the house.

 

5:1And Hiram kinge of Tire sent his seruauntes vnto Salomon, for he had heard, that they had anoynted hym kynge in the rowme of hys father. For Hiram was euer a louer of Dauid.
5:2And Salomon sent to Hiram, saying:
5:3thou knowest how that Dauid my father coulde not builde an house vnto the name of the Lorde hys God, for the warres which were aboute him on euery side, vntyll the Lorde putt them vnder the soles of hys fete.
5:4But nowe the Lorde my God hath geuen me rest on euery syde, so that there is nether aduersarye, nor anye euyll plage.
5:5And behold, I am determined to buyld an house vnto the name of the Lorde my God, as the Lorde spake vnto Dauid my father sayinge: thy sonne whom I wyll set vpon thy seate for the, he shall buylde an house vnto my name.
5:6Nowe therfore, commaunde thou that they hewe me Cedar trees out of Libanon. And my seruauntes shalbe with thyne, and vnto the, wyll I geue the hyre for thy seruauntes, accordynge to all soche thynges as thou shalt appoynte, for thou knowest that ther are not amonge vs, that can skyll to hewe tymber, lyke vnto the Sidones.
5:7Whan Hiram heard the wordes of Salomon, he reioysed greatly, & sayd. Blessed be the Lord this daye which hath geuen vnto dauid a wyse sonne ouer this myghty people.
5:8And Hiram sent to Salomon, saying: I haue consydred the thynges which thou sentest to me for: & will accomplysh all thy desyre, concerning tymbre of Cedar trees and fyrre.
5:9My seruauntes shall bryng them from Libanon to the see. And I will conuey them by ship vnto the place that thou shalt shewe me: & wyll cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receaue them. And thou shalt do me a pleasure agayne yf thou minystre fode for myne house.
5:10And so Hiram gaue Salomon cedar trees & firre trees, accordyng to all hys desyre.
5:11And Salomon gaue Hiram .xx.M. quarters of whete for fode to his housholde, and twentye buttes of pure oyle. Thus much gaue Salomon to Hiram yeare by yeare.
5:12And the Lorde gaue Salomon wisdome as he promised him. And ther was peace betwene Hiram and Salomon: & they two were confedered together.
5:13And king Salomon reysed a some out of all Israel. And the some was thirtye thousande men,
5:14whom he sent to Libanon .x.M. a moneth by coursse, so that when they had bene one moneth in Libanon, they abode two monethes at home. And Adoniram was ouer the some.
5:15And Salomon had thre score and ten thousande that bare burthens, and foure score thousand masons in the mountaynes,
5:16besydes the lordes, whom Salomon appoynted to ouer se the worke, euen thre thousand and thre hundred, which ruled the people that wrought in the worke.
5:17And the kynge commaunded them to bryng great stones, weighty stones and hewed stones for the foundacion of the house.
5:18And Salomons masons and the masons of Hiram dyd hewe them, wt the workmen of the corners. And so they prepared both tymbre & stones for the buildyng of the house.
