1 Kings - Chapter: 6


6:1	And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.
6:2	And the house which king Solomon built for the LORD, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits.
6:3	And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.
6:4	And for the house he made windows of narrow lights.
6:5	And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about:
6:6	The nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house.
6:7	And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor ax nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.
6:8	The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third.
6:9	So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar.
6:10	And then he built chambers against all the house, five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.
6:11	And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying,
6:12	Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
6:13	And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.
6:14	So Solomon built the house, and finished it.
6:15	And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the ceiling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of fir.
6:16	And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the oracle, even for the most holy place.
6:17	And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty cubits long.
6:18	And the cedar of the house within was carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.
6:19	And the oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
6:20	And the oracle in the forepart was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof: and he overlaid it with pure gold; and so covered the altar which was of cedar.
6:21	So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.
6:22	And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the oracle he overlaid with gold.
6:23	And within the oracle he made two cherubims of olive tree, each ten cubits high.
6:24	And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.
6:25	And the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubims were of one measure and one size.
6:26	The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub.
6:27	And he set the cherubims within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubims, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.
6:28	And he overlaid the cherubims with gold.
6:29	And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, within and without.
6:30	And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.
6:31	And for the entering of the oracle he made doors of olive tree: the lintel and side posts were a fifth part of the wall.
6:32	The two doors also were of olive tree; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubims, and upon the palm trees.
6:33	So also made he for the door of the temple posts of olive tree, a fourth part of the wall.
6:34	And the two doors were of fir tree: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.
6:35	And he carved thereon cherubims and palm trees and open flowers: and covered them with gold fitted upon the carved work.
6:36	And he built the inner court with three rows of hewed stone, and a row of cedar beams.
6:37	In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the LORD laid, in the month Zif:
6:38	And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.


6:1	ויהי בשׁמונים שׁנה וארבע מאות שׁנה לצאת בני ישׂראל מארץ מצרים בשׁנה הרביעית בחדשׁ זו הוא החדשׁ השׁני למלך שׁלמה על ישׂראל ויבן הבית ליהוה׃
6:2	והבית אשׁר בנה המלך שׁלמה ליהוה שׁשׁים אמה ארכו ועשׂרים רחבו ושׁלשׁים אמה קומתו׃
6:3	והאולם על פני היכל הבית עשׂרים אמה ארכו על פני רחב הבית עשׂר באמה רחבו על פני הבית׃
6:4	ויעשׂ לבית חלוני שׁקפים אטמים׃
6:5	ויבן על קיר הבית יצוע סביב את קירות הבית סביב להיכל ולדביר ויעשׂ צלעות סביב׃
6:6	היצוע התחתנה חמשׁ באמה רחבה והתיכנה שׁשׁ באמה רחבה והשׁלישׁית שׁבע באמה רחבה כי מגרעות נתן לבית סביב חוצה לבלתי אחז בקירות הבית׃
6:7	והבית בהבנתו אבן שׁלמה מסע נבנה ומקבות והגרזן כל כלי ברזל לא נשׁמע בבית בהבנתו׃
6:8	פתח הצלע התיכנה אל כתף הבית הימנית ובלולים יעלו על התיכנה ומן התיכנה אל השׁלשׁים׃
6:9	ויבן את הבית ויכלהו ויספן את הבית גבים ושׂדרת בארזים׃
6:10	ויבן את היצוע על כל הבית חמשׁ אמות קומתו ויאחז את הבית בעצי ארזים׃
6:11	ויהי דבר יהוה אל שׁלמה לאמר׃
6:12	הבית הזה אשׁר אתה בנה אם תלך בחקתי ואת משׁפטי תעשׂה ושׁמרת את כל מצותי ללכת בהם והקמתי את דברי אתך אשׁר דברתי אל דוד אביך׃
6:13	ושׁכנתי בתוך בני ישׂראל ולא אעזב את עמי ישׂראל׃
6:14	ויבן שׁלמה את הבית ויכלהו׃
6:15	ויבן את קירות הבית מביתה בצלעות ארזים מקרקע הבית עד קירות הספן צפה עץ מבית ויצף את קרקע הבית בצלעות ברושׁים׃
6:16	ויבן את עשׂרים אמה מירכותי הבית בצלעות ארזים מן הקרקע עד הקירות ויבן לו מבית לדביר לקדשׁ הקדשׁים׃
6:17	וארבעים באמה היה הבית הוא ההיכל לפני׃
6:18	וארז אל הבית פנימה מקלעת פקעים ופטורי צצים הכל ארז אין אבן נראה׃
6:19	ודביר בתוך הבית מפנימה הכין לתתן שׁם את ארון ברית יהוה׃
6:20	ולפני הדביר עשׂרים אמה ארך ועשׂרים אמה רחב ועשׂרים אמה קומתו ויצפהו זהב סגור ויצף מזבח ארז׃
6:21	ויצף שׁלמה את הבית מפנימה זהב סגור ויעבר ברתיקות זהב לפני הדביר ויצפהו זהב׃
6:22	ואת כל הבית צפה זהב עד תם כל הבית וכל המזבח אשׁר לדביר צפה זהב׃
6:23	ויעשׂ בדביר שׁני כרובים עצי שׁמן עשׂר אמות קומתו׃
6:24	וחמשׁ אמות כנף הכרוב האחת וחמשׁ אמות כנף הכרוב השׁנית עשׂר אמות מקצות כנפיו ועד קצות כנפיו׃
6:25	ועשׂר באמה הכרוב השׁני מדה אחת וקצב אחד לשׁני הכרבים׃
6:26	קומת הכרוב האחד עשׂר באמה וכן הכרוב השׁני׃
6:27	ויתן את הכרובים בתוך הבית הפנימי ויפרשׂו את כנפי הכרבים ותגע כנף האחד בקיר וכנף הכרוב השׁני נגעת בקיר השׁני וכנפיהם אל תוך הבית נגעת כנף אל כנף׃
6:28	ויצף את הכרובים זהב׃
6:29	ואת כל קירות הבית מסב קלע פתוחי מקלעות כרובים ותמרת ופטורי צצים מלפנים ולחיצון׃
6:30	ואת קרקע הבית צפה זהב לפנימה ולחיצון׃
6:31	ואת פתח הדביר עשׂה דלתות עצי שׁמן האיל מזוזות חמשׁית׃
6:32	ושׁתי דלתות עצי שׁמן וקלע עליהם מקלעות כרובים ותמרות ופטורי צצים וצפה זהב וירד על הכרובים ועל התמרות את הזהב׃
6:33	וכן עשׂה לפתח ההיכל מזוזות עצי שׁמן מאת רבעית׃
6:34	ושׁתי דלתות עצי ברושׁים שׁני צלעים הדלת האחת גלילים ושׁני קלעים הדלת השׁנית גלילים׃
6:35	וקלע כרובים ותמרות ופטרי צצים וצפה זהב מישׁר על המחקה׃
6:36	ויבן את החצר הפנימית שׁלשׁה טורי גזית וטור כרתת ארזים׃
6:37	בשׁנה הרביעית יסד בית יהוה בירח זו׃
6:38	ובשׁנה האחת עשׂרה בירח בול הוא החדשׁ השׁמיני כלה הבית לכל דבריו ולכל משׁפטו ויבנהו שׁבע שׁנים׃


6:1	And it cometh to pass, in the four hundred and eightieth year of the going out of the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, in the fourth year -- in the month of Zif, it `is' the second month -- of the reigning of Solomon over Israel, that he buildeth the house for Jehovah.
6:2	As to the house that king Solomon hath built for Jehovah, sixty cubits `is' its length, and twenty its breadth, and thirty cubits its height.
6:3	As to the porch on the front of the temple of the house, twenty cubits `is' its length on the front of the breadth of the house; ten by the cubit `is' its breadth on the front of the house;
6:4	and he maketh for the house windows of narrow lights.
6:5	And he buildeth against the wall of the house a couch round about, `even' the walls of the house round about, of the temple and of the oracle, and maketh sides round about.
6:6	The lowest couch, five by the cubit `is' its breadth; and the middle, six by the cubit `is' its breadth; and the third, seven by the cubit `is' its breadth, for withdrawings he hath put to the house round about, without -- not to lay hold on the walls of the house.
6:7	And the house, in its being built, of perfect stone brought `thither' hath been built, and hammer, and the axe -- any instrument of iron -- was not heard in the house, in its being built.
6:8	The opening of the middle side `is' at the right shoulder of the house, and with windings they go up on the middle one, and from the middle one unto the third.
6:9	And he buildeth the house, and completeth it, and covereth the house `with' beams and rows of cedars.
6:10	And he buildeth the couch against all the house, five cubits `is' its height, and it taketh hold of the house by cedar-wood.
6:11	And the word of Jehovah is unto Solomon, saying,
6:12	`This house that thou art building -- if thou dost walk in My statutes, and My judgments dost do, yea, hast done all My commands, to walk in them, then I have established My word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father,
6:13	and have tabernacled in the midst of the sons of Israel, and do not forsake My people Israel.'
6:14	And Solomon buildeth the house and completeth it;
6:15	and he buildeth the walls of the house within with beams of cedar, from the floor of the house unto the walls of the ceiling; he hath overlaid with wood the inside, and covereth the floor of the house with ribs of fir.
6:16	And he buildeth the twenty cubits on the sides of the house with ribs of cedar, from the floor unto the walls; and he buildeth for it within, for the oracle, for the holy of holies.
6:17	And forty by the cubit was the house, it `is' the temple before `it'.
6:18	And the cedar for the house within `is' carvings of knobs and openings of flowers; the whole `is' cedar, there is not a stone seen.
6:19	And the oracle in the midst of the house within he hath prepared, to put there the ark of the covenant of Jehovah.
6:20	And before the oracle `is' twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits `is' its height; and he overlayeth it with gold refined, and overlayeth the altar with cedar.
6:21	And Solomon overlayeth the house within with gold refined, and causeth `it' to pass over in chains of gold before the oracle, and overlayeth it with gold.
6:22	And the whole of the house he hath overlaid with gold, till the completion of all the house; and the whole of the altar that the oracle hath, he hath overlaid with gold.
6:23	And he maketh within the oracle two cherubs, of the oil-tree, ten cubits `is' their height;
6:24	and five cubits `is' the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the second wing of the cherub, ten cubits from the ends of its wings even unto the ends of its wings;
6:25	and ten by the cubit `is' the second cherub, one measure and one form `are' to the two cherubs,
6:26	the height of the one cherub `is' ten by the cubit, and so `is' the second cherub;
6:27	and he setteth the cherubs in the midst of the inner house, and they spread out the wings of the cherubs, and a wing of the one cometh against the wall, and a wing of the second cherub is coming against the second wall, and their wings `are' unto the midst of the house, coming wing against wing;
6:28	and he overlayeth the cherubs with gold,
6:29	and all the walls of the house round about he hath carved with openings of carvings, cherubs, and palm trees, and openings of flowers, within and without.
6:30	And the floor of the house he hath overlaid with gold, within and without;
6:31	as to the opening of the oracle, he made doors of the oil-tree; the lintel, side-posts, a fifth.
6:32	And the two doors `are' of the oil-tree, and he hath carved upon them carvings of cherubs, and palm-trees, and openings of flowers, and overlaid with gold, and he causeth the gold to go down on the cherubs and on the palm-trees.
6:33	And so he hath made for the opening of the temple, side-posts of the oil-tree, from the fourth.
6:34	And the two doors `are' of fir-tree, the two sides of the one door are revolving, and the two hangings of the second door are revolving.
6:35	And he hath carved cherubs, and palms, and openings of flowers, and overlaid with straightened gold the graved work.
6:36	And he buildeth the inner court, three rows of hewn work, and a row of beams of cedar.
6:37	In the fourth year hath the house of Jehovah been founded, in the month Zif,
6:38	and in the eleventh year, in the month Bul -- `that is' the eighth month -- hath the house been finished in all its matters, and in all its ordinances, and he buildeth it seven years.
