1 Kings - Chapter: 9

>
9:1And it came to passe, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the Lord, and the kings house, and all Solomons desire which hee was pleased to doe,
9:2That the Lord appeared to Solomon the second time, as hee had appeared vnto him at Gibeon.
9:3And the Lord said vnto him, I haue heard thy prayer and thy supplication that thou hast made before me: I haue hallowed this house which thou hast built, to put my Name there for euer, and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
9:4And if thou wilt walke before me, as Dauid thy father walked, in integritie of heart, and in vprightnesse, to doe according to all that I haue commanded thee, and wilt keepe my Statutes, and my Iudgements:
9:5Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdome vpon Israel for euer, as I promised to Dauid thy father, saying, There shall not faile thee a man vpon the throne of Israel.
9:6But if you shall at all turne from following me, you or your children, and will not keepe my Commandements, and my Statutes, which I haue set before you, but goe and serue other gods, and worship them:
9:7Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I haue giuen them; and this house which I haue hallowed for my Name, will I cast out of my sight, and Israel shall bee a prouerbe, and a by-word among all people:
9:8And at this house which is high, euery one that passeth by it, shalbe astonished, and shall hisse, and they shal say, Why hath the Lord done thus vnto this land, and to this house?
9:9And they shall answere, Because they forsooke the Lord their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and haue taken hold vpon other gods, and haue worshipped them, and serued them: therefore hath the Lord brought vpon them all this euill.
9:10And it came to passe at the end of twentie yeeres, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the Lord, and the Kings house,
9:11(Now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with Cedar trees, and firre trees, and with golde according to al his desire) that then Solomon gaue Hiram twentie cities in the land of Galile.
9:12And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had giuen him, and they pleased him not.
9:13And he said, What cities are these which thou hast giuen me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul vnto this day.
9:14And Hiram sent to the king sixe score talents of gold.
9:15And this is the reason of the leuie which king Solomon raised, for to build the house of the Lord, and his owne house, and Millo, and the wall of Ierusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.
9:16For Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone vp, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slaine the Canaanites that dwelt in the citie, and giuen it for a present vnto his daughter Solomons wife.
9:17And Solomon built Gezer, and Beth-horon the nether,
9:18And Baalath, and Tadmor in the wildernesse, in the land.
9:19And all the cities of store that Solomon had, and cities for his charets, and cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon disired to build in Ierusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.
9:20And all the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittittes, Perizzites, Hiuites, and Iebusites, which were not of the children of Israel,
9:21Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel also were not able vtterly to destroy, vpon those did Solomon leuie a tribute of bond-seruice vnto this day.
9:22But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondmen: but they were men of warre, and his seruants, and his princes, and his captaines, and rulers of his charets, and his horsemen.
9:23These were the chiefe of the officers that were ouer Solomons worke, fiue hundred and fiftie, which bare rule ouer the people that wrought in the worke.
9:24But Pharaohs daughter came vp out of the citie of Dauid, vnto her house which Solomon had built for her: then did he build Millo.
9:25And three times in a yeere did Solomon offer burnt offerings, and peace offerings vpon the Altar which he built vnto the Lord, and he burnt incense vpon the altar that was before the Lord: so he finished the house.
9:26And king Solomon made a nauie of ships in Ezion Geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shoare of the red sea, in the land of Edom.
9:27And Hiram sent in the nauie his seruants, shipmen that had knowledge of the Sea, with the seruants of Solomon.
9:28And they came to Ophir, and fet from thence gold foure hundred and twentie talents, and brought it to king Solomon.

9:1When Salomon had finished the building of the house of ye Lord, and the kings palace, and all that Salomon desired and minded to do,
9:2Then the Lord appeared vnto Salomon the second time, as he appeared vnto him at Gibeon.
9:3And the Lord sayd vnto him, I haue heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I haue halowed this house (which thou hast built) to put my Name there for euer, and mine eyes, and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
9:4And if thou wilt walke before mee (as Dauid thy father walked in purenesse of heart and in righteousnesse) to doe according to al that I haue commanded thee, and keepe my statutes, and my iudgements,
9:5Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdome vpon Israel for euer, as I promised to Dauid thy father, saying, Thou shalt not want a man vpon the throne of Israel.
9:6But if ye and your children turne away from mee, and wil not keepe my commandements, and my statutes (which I haue set before you) but go and serue other gods, and worship them,
9:7Then will I cutte off Israel from the lande, which I haue giuen them, and the house which I haue halowed for my Name, will I cast out of my sight, and Israel shall be a prouerbe, and a common talke among all people.
9:8Euen this hie house shall bee so: euery one that passeth by it, shalbe astonied, and shall hisse, and they shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus vnto this land and to this house?
9:9And they shall answere, Because they forsooke the Lord their God, which brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and haue taken holde vpon other gods, and haue worshipped them, and serued them, therfore hath the Lord brought vpon them all this euill.
9:10And at the ende of twentie yeeres, when Salomon had buylded the two houses, the house of the Lord, and the Kings palace,
9:11(For the which Hiram the King of Tyrus had brought to Salomon timber of cedar, and firre trees, and golde, and whatsoeuer he desired) then King Salomon gaue to Hiram twentie cities in the land of Galil.
9:12And Hiram came out from Tyrus to see the cities which Salomon had giuen him, and they pleased him not.
9:13Therefore hee sayde, What cities are these which thou hast giuen me, my brother? And hee called them the land of Cabul vnto this day.
9:14And Hiram had sent the King sixe score talents of gold.
9:15And this is the cause of the tribute why King Salomon raised tribute, to wit, to builde the house of the Lord, and his owne house, and Millo, and the wall of Ierusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.
9:16Pharaoh King of Egypt had come vp, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slew the Canaanites, that dwelt in the citie, and gaue it for a present vnto his daughter Salomons wife.
9:17(Therefore Salomon builte Gezer and Beth-horon the nether,
9:18And Baalath and Tamor in the wildernes of the land,
9:19And all the cities of store, that Salomon had, euen cities for charets, and cities for horsemen, and all that Salomon desired and woulde build in Ierusalem, and in Lebanon and in all the land of his dominion)
9:20Al the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hiuites, and Iebusites, which were not of the children of Israel:
9:21To wit, their children that were left after them in the lande, whome the children of Israel were not able to destroy, those did Salomon make tributaries vnto this day.
9:22But of the children of Israel did Salomon make no bondmen: but they were men of warre and his seruants, and his princes, and his captaines, and rulers of his charets and his horsemen.
9:23These were the princes of the officers, that were ouer Salomons worke: euen fiue hundreth and fiftie, and they ruled the people that wrought in the worke.
9:24And Pharaohs daughter came vp from the citie of Dauid vnto the house which Salomon had built for her: then did he buylde Millo.
9:25And thrise a yere did Salomon offer burnt offringes and peace offrings vpon the altar which he built vnto the Lord: and hee burnt incense vpon the altar that was before the Lord, when hee had finished the house.
9:26Also King Salomon made a nauie of ships in Ezeon-geber, which is beside Eloth, and the brinke of the red Sea, in the land of Edom.
9:27And Hiram sent with the nauie his seruats, that were mariners, and had knowledge of the sea, with the seruants of Salomon.
9:28And they came to Ophir and sette from thence foure hundreth and twentie talents of gold, and brought it to King Salomon.

9:1And when Salomon had fynysshed the buyldynge of the house of the Lorde and the kynges palace, & all that he had in hys mynde, and was apoynted to make:
9:2the Lorde appered vnto hym agayne, as he appered to hym at Gibeon.
9:3And the Lorde sayde vnto hym: I haue hearde thy prayer and thy intercessyon, that thou hast made before me. For I haue halowed this house (which thou hast buylte) to put my name ther for euer, and myne eyes and myne herte shalbe there perpetuallye.
9:4And yf thou wylt walcke before me (as Dauid thy father walcked, in purenesse of herte and in ryghteousnesse) to do all that I haue commaunded the, and wylt kepe my statutes, & my lawes,
9:5then wyll I stablysshe the seate of thy kyngdome vpon Israel for euer, as I promysed to Dauid thy father sayinge. Thou shalt not be without a man vpon the seate of Israel.
9:6But and yf ye and youre chyldren turne awaye from me, and wyll not kepe my commaundementes and my statutes (whyche I haue set before you) but go and serue other Goddes, and worshyppe them:
9:7then wyll I wede Israel oute of the lande, whych I haue geuen them. And thys house whych I haue halowed for my name, wyll I cast oute of my syght. And Israel shalbe a prouerbe and a fable amonge all nacyons.
9:8And thys house shalbe taken awaye: so that euery one that passeth by it, shalbe astonyed, and shall hysse, and they shall saye: why hath the Lorde done thus vnto thys lande and to thys house?
9:9And they shall answere: because they forsoke the Lorde theyr God, whyche brought theyr fathers out of the lande of Egypt, and haue taken holde vpon other Goddes, and haue worshipped them, and serued them, therfore hath the Lorde brought vpon them all thys euell.
9:10And it fortuned, that at the ende of twentye yeres, Salomon fynisshed the buyldynge of the two houses, that is to wete, the house of the Lorde and the kynges palace.
9:11And Hyram the kynge of Tyre brought Salomon tymbre of Cedar, and fyrre trees, golde, and whatsoeuer he desyred. And Salomon agayne gaue Hyram .xx. cyties into the lande of Galile.
9:12And Hyram came oute from Tyre to se the cyties whyche Salomon had geuen hym, and they pleased hym not.
9:13And he sayde: what cyties are these, which thou hast geuen me, my brother? and he called them the lande of Cabull vnto thys daye.
9:14And Hyram sent the kynge syxe skore hundred wayght of golde.
9:15And thys is the summe, which kynge Salomon raysed for a trybute whan he buylded the house of the Lorde and hys awne house, and Millo, and the wall of Ierusalem, and Hazoer, and Megeddo, and Gazer.
9:16For Pharao kynge of Egypte went vp, & toke Gazer, and burnt it with fyre, and slue the Cananites that dwelt in the cytie, and gaue it for a present vnto hys daughter, Salomons wyfe.
9:17And Salomon buylt Gazer and Beth Horon the nether:
9:18and Baalath and Thamar in the wyldernesse and in the lande:
9:19and all the treasure cyties that Salomon had, and cyties for hys charettes, & cyties for hys horsemen, and all that Salomon desyred and wolde buylde in Ierusalem, in Libanon, and in all the lande of hys dominyon.
9:20And all the people that were lefte of the Amorites, Hethites, Pheresites, Heuites and Iebusites, (whych were not of the chyldren of Israel)
9:21theyr chyldren that were lefte after them in the lande, whom the chyldren of Israel also were not able to destroye. Those dyd Salomon compell to bryng tribute vnto thys daye.
9:22But of the chyldren of Israel dyd Salomon make no bonde men. But they were men of warre, hys ministers, hys Lordes, his captaynes, and rulers of his charettes, and of hys horsemen.
9:23And these were the Lordes, that were sett ouer Salomons worke: euen fyue hundred were they and fyftye, and they ruled the people that wrought the worcke.
9:24And Pharaos daughter came vp oute of the cytie of Dauid vnto the house which Salomon had buylt for her. And then dyd he also buylde Millo.
9:25And thryse a yere dyd Salomon offer burntofferinges and peace offeringes vpon the aultare, whyche he buylt vnto the Lorde. And he burnt incense vpon the altare that was before the Lorde, and so he fynisshed the house.
9:26And kynge Salomon made a nauye of shyppes in Azion Gaber whyche is besyde Eloth, on the bryncke of the redd see, in the lande of Edom.
9:27And Hyram sent by shyppe also of hys seruauntes, that were shypmen, and had knowledge of the see, wyth the seruauntes of Salomon.
9:28And they came to Ophyr and fet from thence one and twentye skore hundred weyght of golde, & brought it to kynge Salomon.
