2 Kings - Chapter: 11

>
11:1And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah sawe that her sonne was dead, she arose, and destroyed all the seed royall.
11:2But Iehosheba the daughter of king Ioram, sister of Ahaziah, tooke Ioash the sonne of Ahaziah, and stale him from among the Kings sonnes which were slaine; and they hid him, euen him and his nurse in the bed-chamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slaine.
11:3And he was with her hidde in the House of the Lord, sixe yeeres: and Athaliah did reigne ouer the land.
11:4And the seuenth yeere Iehoiada sent and fet the rulers ouer hundreds, with the captains, and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the Lord, and made a couenant with them, and tooke an othe of them in the house of the Lord, and shewed them the Kings sonne.
11:5And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that yee shall doe; A third part of you that enter in on the Sabbath, shall euen be keepers of the watch of the kings house:
11:6And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur, and a third part at the gate behinde the guard: so shall yee keepe the watch of the house, that it be not broken downe.
11:7And two parts of all you, that goe foorth on the Sabbath, euen they shall keepe the watch of the house of the Lord about the King.
11:8And yee shall compasse the King round about, euery man with his weapons in his hand: and he that commeth within the ranges, let him bee slaine: and be yee with the king, as hee goeth out, and as he commeth in.
11:9And the captaines ouer the hundreds did according to all things that Iehoiada the Priest commanded: and they tooke euery man his men that were to come in on the Sabbath, with them that should goe out on the Sabbath, and came to Iehoiada the Priest.
11:10And to the captaines ouer hundreds, did the Priest giue king Dauids speares and shields, that were in the Temple.
11:11And the guard stood, euery man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the Temple, to the left corner of the Temple, along by the Altar and the Temple.
11:12And he brought foorth the kings sonne, and put the crowne vpon him, and gaue him the Testimonie, and they made him King, and anointed him, and they clapt their hands, and said, God saue the King.
11:13And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard, and of the people, she came to the people, into the Temple of the Lord.
11:14And when shee looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the maner was, and the Princes, and the trumpetters by the King, and all the people of the land reioyced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cryed, Treason, treason.
11:15But Iehoiada the Priest commanded the captaines of the hundreds, the officers of the hoste, and sayde vnto them, Haue her foorth without the ranges; and him that followeth her, kill with the sword: for the Priest had sayd, Let her not be slaine in the house of the Lord.
11:16And they laid hands on her, and she went by the way, by the which the horses came into the kings house, and there was she slaine.
11:17And Iehoiada made a couenant betweene the Lord and the king, and the people, that they should be the Lords people; betweene the king also and the people.
11:18And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down, his altars, and his images brake they in pieces throughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars: and the Priest appointed officers ouer the house of the Lord.
11:19And hee tooke the rulers ouer hundreds, and the captaines, and the guard, and all the people of the land, and they brought downe the king from the house of the Lord, and came by the way of the gate of the guard, to the kings house, and he sate on the throne of the kings.
11:20And all the people of the land reioyced, and the citie was in quiet, and they slew Athaliah with the sword, beside the kings house.
11:21Seuen yeeres old was Iehoash when he began to reigne.

11:3And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord sixe yeere: and Athaliah did reigne ouer the land.
11:4And the seuenth yeere Iehoiada sent and tooke the captaines ouer hundreths, with other captaines and them of the garde, and caused them to come vnto him into the house of the Lord, and made a couenant with them, and tooke an othe of them in the house of the Lord, and shewed them the Kings sonne.
11:5And he commanded them, saying, This is it that ye must doe, The third part of you, that commeth on the Sabbath, shall warde towarde the Kings house:
11:6And another third part in the gate of Sur: and another thirde part in the gate behinde them of the garde: and ye shall keepe watche in the house of Massah.
11:7And two parts of you, that is, all that goe out on the Sabbath day, shall keepe the watch of the house of the Lord about the King.
11:8And ye shall compasse the King rounde about, euery man with his weapon in his hande, and whosoeuer commeth within the ranges, let him be slayne: be you with the King, as he goeth out and in.
11:9And the captaines of the hundreths did according to all that Iehoiada the Priest commaded, and they tooke euery man his men that entred in to their charge on the Sabbath with them that went out of it on the Sabbath, and came to Iehoiada the Priest.
11:10And the Priest gaue to the captaines of hundreths the speares and the shieldes that were King Dauids, and were in the house of the Lord.
11:11And the garde stoode, euery man with his weapon in his hande, from the right side of the house to the left side, about the altar and about the house, round about the King.
11:12Then he brought out the Kings sonne, and put the crowne vpon him and gaue him the Testimonie, and they made him King: also they anoynted him, and clapt their handes, and sayde, God saue the King.
11:13And when Athaliah heard the noyse of the running of the people, shee came in to the people in the house of the Lord.
11:14And when shee looked, beholde, the King stoode by a pillar, as the maner was, and the princes and the trumpetters by the King, and al the people of the land reioyced, and blew with trumpets. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and cryed, Treason, treason.
11:15But Iehoiada the Priest commanded the captaines of the hundreths that had the rule of the hoste, and sayde vnto them, Haue her forth of the ranges, and he that followeth her, let him die by the sworde: for the Priest had sayd, Let her not be slaine in the house of the Lord.
11:16Then they laid hands on her, and she went by the way, by the which the horses goe to the house of the King, and there was she slaine.
11:17And Iehoiada made a couenant betweene the Lord, and the King and the people, that they should be the Lordes people: likewise betweene the King and the people.
11:18Then all the people of the lande went into the house of Baal, and destroyed it with his altars, and his images brake they downe courageously, and slewe Mattan the Priest of Baal before the altars: and the Priest set a garde ouer the house of the Lord.
11:19Then he tooke the captaines of hudreths, and the other captaines, and the garde, and all the people of the lande: and they brought the King from the house of the Lord, and came by the way of the gate of the garde to the Kings house: and he sate him downe on the throne of the Kings.
11:20And all the people of the land reioyced, and the citie was in quiet: for they had slaine Athaliah with the sworde beside the Kings house.
11:21Seuen yeere olde was Iehoash when he began to reigne.

 

11:1And Athalia the mother of Ahaziahu, when she sawe that her sonne was deed, she arose, and destroyed all the kinges seede.
11:2But Iehosaba the daughter of kynge Ioram, and syster of Ahaziahu, toke Ioas the sonne of Ahaziahu, and stale hym from amonge the kynges sonnes that were slayne, and his nource with hym, out of a slepynge chambre, and hyd hym from Athalia, that he was not slayne.
11:3And he was with her hyd in the house of the Lorde .vj. yere. And Athalia did raigne ouer the lande.
11:4And the .vij. yere Iehoiada sent and fet the rulers ouer hundredes, wt the captaynes, & them of the garde, and toke them to hym into the house of the Lorde, and made a bonde wt them, and toke an othe of them in the house of the Lorde, and she wed them the kynges sonne.
11:5And he commaunded them, saying: thys is it that ye must do: one thyrd parte of you, whose dewty is to come on the Sabboth daye, shall kepe the watch of the kynges house.
11:6And another thyrde parte shall kepe the gate of Sur: and another thyrd parte shall kepe the gate, which is behynde them of the garde: and so shall ye kepe the watche of the house of Messah,
11:7& two partes of you, that is, all that go out on the Sabboth daye, shall kepe the watche of the house of the Lorde about the kynge,
11:8and ye shall compasse the kynge rounde about, and euery man shall haue his weapen in his hande. And whosoeuer commeth with in the ranges, let hym be slayne. And se that ye be with the kynge as he goeth out and in.
11:9And the captaynes ouer the hundredes dyd, according to all thinges that Iehoiada the preste commaunded: and they toke euery man hys men, that were to come in on the Sabboth daye with them that shuld go out on the Sabboth, and came to Iehoiada the preste.
11:10And to the captaynes ouer hundredes, dyd the preste geue kinge Dauids speares & shyldes that were in the temple.
11:11And they of the garde stode, & euery man had his weapen in hys hande rounde about the kynge, from the ryght corner of the temple to the left, alonge by the aultar and the temple.
11:12And he brought out the kynges sonne, & put the crowne vpon him: & delyuered hym the witnesse, and made him kyng, & anoynted hym. And they clapte their handes, and sayde: God saue the kyng:
11:13And when Athalia heard the noyse of the runnynge of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the Lorde.
11:14And when she loked, behold, the kyng stode by a piller, as the maner was, and the syngers & the trompettes by the kynge, and all the people of the lande reioysed, and blewe wt trompettes. And Athalia rent her clothes and cryed: treason, treason.
11:15But Iehoiada the preste commaunded the captaynes of the hundredes that had the rule of the hoost, and sayd vnto them: haue her out without the temple, that she maye be within the ranges, and yf any folowe her, kyll hym with the swearde: for the preste had sayd she maye not be slayne in the house of the Lord.
11:16And they layde handes on her tyll she came into the waye, by the which the horses went into the kinges palace: & there was she slayne.
11:17And Iehoiada made a bonde betwene the Lorde and the kinge, and the people, that they shuld be the Lordes people, and also betwene the kynge and the people.
11:18And all the people of the lande went into the house of Baal, and destroyed it, his aultars also, & his ymages brake they downe lustely, and slue Mathan the preaste of Baal before the aultars. And the preste set a watch ouer the house of the Lorde,
11:19and roke the rulars ouer hundredes, the captaynes & them of the garde, and all the people of the lande. And they brought the kynge from the house of the Lorde: and came by the waye of the gate of them of the garde to the kynges palace. And he sat hym downe on the seate of the kynges.
11:20And all the people of the lande reioysed, and the cytye was in quyet. And they slue Athalia wt the swearde besyde the kinges palace.
11:21Seuen yeare olde was Iehoas, when he beganne to raygne.
