2 Kings - Chapter: 12

>
12:1In the seuenth yeere of Iehu, Iehoash began to reigne, and fourtie yeeres reigned he in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Zibiah of Beersheba.
12:2And Iehoash did that which was right in the sight of the Lord all his dayes, wherein Iehoiada the Priest instructed him.
12:3But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed, and burnt incense in the high places.
12:4And Iehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the Lord, euen the money of euery one that passeth the account, the money that euery man is set at, and all the money that commeth into any mans heart, to bring into the house of the Lord,
12:5Let the priests take it to them, euery man of his acquaintance, and let them repaire the breaches of the house, wheresoeuer any breach shalbe found.
12:6But it was so that in the three and twentieth yeere of king Iehoash, the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.
12:7Then king Iehoash called for Iehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and saide vnto them, Why repaire ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receiue no more money of your acquaintance, but deliuer it for the breaches of the house.
12:8And the priests consented to receiue no more money of the people, neither to repaire the breaches of the house.
12:9But Iehoiada the priest tooke a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the Altar, on the right side, as one commeth into the house of the Lord, and the priests that kept the doore, put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the Lord.
12:10And it was so when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the kings scribe, and the high priest came vp, and they put vp in bags and told the money that was found in the house of the Lord.
12:11And they gaue the money, being told, into the handes of them that did the worke, that had the ouersight of the house of the Lord: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought vpon the house of the Lord,
12:12And to Masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber, and hewed stone to repaire the breaches of the house of the Lord, and for all that was laid out for the house to repaire it.
12:13Howbeit, there were not made for the house of the Lord, bowles of siluer, snuffers, basons, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of siluer, of the money that was brought into the house of the Lord:
12:14But they gaue that to the workemen, and repaired therewith the house of the Lord.
12:15Moreouer, they reckned not with the men, into whose hand they deliuered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.
12:16The trespasse money, and sinnemoney was not brought into the house of the Lord: it was the Priests.
12:17Then Hazael king of Syria went vp, and fought against Gath, and tooke it: and Hazael set his face to goe vp to Ierusalem.
12:18And Iehoash king of Iudah tooke all the hallowed things that Iehoshaphat, and Iehoram, and Ahaziah his fathers, kings of Iudah had dedicate, and his owne hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the Lord, and in the kings house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria, and hee went away from Ierusalem.
12:19And the rest of the actes of Iehoash, and all that he did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the kings of Iudah?
12:20And his seruants arose, and made a conspiracie, and slew Iehoash in the house of Millo, which goeth downe to Silla.
12:21For Iozachar the sonne of Shimeath, and Iehozabad the sonne of Shomer, his seruants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the citie of Dauid, and Amaziah his sonne reigned in his stead.

12:1In the seuenth yere of Iehu Iehoash began to reigne, and reigned fourty yeres in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.
12:2And Iehoash did that which was good in the sight of the Lord all his time that Iehoiada the Priest taught him.
12:3But the hie places were not taken away: for the people offred yet and burnt incense in the hie places.
12:4And Iehoash sayde to the Priestes, All the siluer of dedicate things that bee brought to the house of the Lord, that is, the money of them that are vnder the count, the money that euery man is set at, and all the money that one offereth willingly, and bringeth into the house of the Lord,
12:5Let the Priestes take it to them, euery man of his acquaintance: and they shall repaire the broken places of the house, wheresoeuer any decay is founde.
12:6Yet in the three and twentieth yeere of King Iehoash the Priestes had not mended that which was decayed in the Temple.
12:7Then King Iehoash called for Iehoiada the Priest, and the other Priestes, and sayd vnto them, Why repaire yee not the ruines of the Temple? nowe therefore receiue no more money of your acquaintance, except yee deliuer it to repaire the ruines of the Temple.
12:8So the Priestes consented to receiue no more money of the people, neither to repaire the decayed places of the Temple.
12:9Then Iehoiada the Priest tooke a chest and bored an hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side, as euery man commeth into the Temple of the Lord. And the Priestes that kept the doore, put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the Lord.
12:10And when they sawe there was much money in the chest, the Kinges Secretarie came vp and the hie Priest, and put it vp after that they had tolde the money that was found in the house of the Lord,
12:11And they gaue the money made readie into the handes of them, that vndertooke the worke, and that had the ouersight of the house of the Lord; and they payed it out to the carpenters and builders that wrought vpon the house of the Lord,
12:12And to the masons and hewers of stone, and to bye timber and hewed stone, to repayre that was decayed in the house of the Lord, and for all that which was layed out for the reparation of the Temple.
12:13Howbeit there was not made for the house of the Lord bowles of siluer, instruments of musicke, basons, trumpets, nor any vessels of golde, or vessels of siluer of the money that was brought into the house of the Lord.
12:14But they gaue it to the workemen, which repayred therewith the house of the Lord.
12:15Moreouer, they reckoned not with the men, into whose handes they deliuered that money to be bestowed on workemen: for they dealt faithfully.
12:16The money of the trespasse offring and the money of ye sinne offrings was not brought into the house of the Lord: for it was the Priests.
12:17Then came vp Hazael King of Aram, and fought against Gath and tooke it, and Hazael set his face to goe vp to Ierusalem.
12:18And Iehoash King of Iudah tooke all the halowed thinges that Iehoshaphat, and Iehoram, and Ahaziah his fathers Kings of Iudah had dedicated, and that he himselfe had dedicated, and all the golde that was found in the treasures of the house of the Lord and in the Kings house, and sent it to Hazael King of Aram, and he departed from Ierusalem.
12:19Concerning the rest of the acts of Ioash and all that he did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
12:20And his seruants arose and wrought treason, and slewe Ioash in the house of Millo, when he came downe to Silla:
12:21Euen Iozachar the sonne of Shimeath, and Iehozabad the sonne of Shomer his seruants smote him, and he dyed: and they buried him with his fathers in the citie of Dauid. And Amaziah his sonne reigned in his stead.

12:1And he beganne to raygne in the .vij. yeare of Iehu .xl. yeare raygned he in Ierusalem: & his mothers name was Zebiah of Berseba.
12:2And he did that which was good in the syght of the Lorde, as longe as Iehoiada the preste enfourmed hym.
12:3But the hylaultars were not taken a waye, for the people offered & burnt incense yet vpon the hylaultars.
12:4And Iehoas sayde to the prestes: all the syluer of dedicat thinges that be brought to the house of the Lorde in curraunt moneye, that is to saye, the money that euery man is set at, and all the money that euery man with a willing hert geueth & bringeth into the house of the Lorde,
12:5let the prestes take it to them, euery man of his aquayntaunce, to repayre the broken places of the house, wheresoeuer any decaye is founde.
12:6And so it came to passe, that vnto the .xxiij. yere of king Iehoas, the prestes had mended nothing, that was decayed in the temple.
12:7Then kyng Iehoas called for Iehoiada the bysshop, and the prestes, and sayde vnto them: why repayre ye not the broken places of the temple? Nowe therfore, se that ye receaue nomore money of your aquayntaunce, except ye delyuer it to repayre the temple withall.
12:8And the prestes consented to receaue nomore money of the people: except to repayre the decayed places of the temple.
12:9But Iehoiada the preast toke a chest and bored an hoale in the lyd of it, & set it besyde the altare on the ryght syde, as euery man commeth into the temple of the Lorde. And the preastes that kepte the vessels, put ther in all the money that was brought into the house of the Lorde.
12:10And it fortuned, that when they saw there was moche money in the chest, the kynges scribe and the hye preaste came, vp, and tolde the money that was founde in the house of the Lorde, and put it in to a bagg.
12:11And they gaue the money sealed into the handes of them that executed the worcke, and that had the ouersyght of the house of the Lorde: and they brought it out to the carpenters and buylders (that wrought vpon the house of the Lorde)
12:12and to masons and hewers of stone: And they bought tymbre and fre stone, to repayre the decay in the house of the Lorde, and to all that went out to mende the temple:
12:13howebeit there was not made for the house of the Lorde, bowlles of syluer, instrumentes of Musicke, basens, trompettes or any vessells of golde, or vessell of syluer, of the money that was brought in to the house of the Lorde:
12:14But they gaue that to the worckemen, and repayred therwyth the house of the Lord.
12:15Moreouer, they rekoned not wyth the men, into whose handes they delyuered that money to be bestowed on worckemen: for they dyd their busynes faythfully.
12:16Howbeit trespace money and synne money was not brought into the house of the Lorde, for it was the preastes.
12:17Then came Hazael kynge of Siria vp, and fought agaynst Geth and toke it, & Hazael set hys face to go vp to Ierusalem.
12:18And Ichoas kynge of Iuda toke all the halowed thynges that Iehosaphat, Iehoram and Haziahu his fathers kynges of Iuda, had dedicat, and that he hym selfe had dedicated, and all the golde that was found in the treasures of the house of the Lorde and in the kynges house, and sent it to Hazael kynge of Siria: and so he departed from Ierusalem.
12:19The remnaunt of the wordes that concerne Iehoas and all that he dyd, are they not written in the boke of the Chronycles of the kynges of Iuda?
12:20And hys awne seruauntes arose, and wrought treason, and slue Iehoas in the house Millo, whan he came downe to Silla.
12:21Iozabar the sonne of Semeath and Iehozabad the sonne of Somer hys seruauntes, smote hym, & he dyed. And they buryed hym wyth his fathers in the cytie of Dauid. And Amaziahu hys sonne raygned in hys steade.
