2 Kings - Chapter: 16


16:1	In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.
16:2	Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD his God, like David his father.
16:3	But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.
16:4	And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
16:5	Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.
16:6	At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day.
16:7	So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.
16:8	And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.
16:9	And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.
16:10	And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.
16:11	And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus.
16:12	And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.
16:13	And he burnt his burnt offering and his meat offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.
16:14	And he brought also the brasen altar, which was before the LORD, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of the altar.
16:15	And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king's burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire by.
16:16	Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.
16:17	And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a pavement of stones.
16:18	And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he from the house of the LORD for the king of Assyria.
16:19	Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
16:20	And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.


16:1	בשׁנת שׁבע עשׂרה שׁנה לפקח בן רמליהו מלך אחז בן יותם מלך יהודה׃
16:2	בן עשׂרים שׁנה אחז במלכו ושׁשׁ עשׂרה שׁנה מלך בירושׁלם ולא עשׂה הישׁר בעיני יהוה אלהיו כדוד אביו׃
16:3	וילך בדרך מלכי ישׂראל וגם את בנו העביר באשׁ כתעבות הגוים אשׁר הורישׁ יהוה אתם מפני בני ישׂראל׃
16:4	ויזבח ויקטר בבמות ועל הגבעות ותחת כל עץ רענן׃
16:5	אז יעלה רצין מלך ארם ופקח בן רמליהו מלך ישׂראל ירושׁלם למלחמה ויצרו על אחז ולא יכלו להלחם׃
16:6	בעת ההיא השׁיב רצין מלך ארם את אילת לארם וינשׁל את היהודים מאילות וארמים באו אילת וישׁבו שׁם עד היום הזה׃
16:7	וישׁלח אחז מלאכים אל תגלת פלסר מלך אשׁור לאמר עבדך ובנך אני עלה והושׁעני מכף מלך ארם ומכף מלך ישׂראל הקומים עלי׃
16:8	ויקח אחז את הכסף ואת הזהב הנמצא בית יהוה ובאצרות בית המלך וישׁלח למלך אשׁור שׁחד׃
16:9	וישׁמע אליו מלך אשׁור ויעל מלך אשׁור אל דמשׂק ויתפשׂה ויגלה קירה ואת רצין המית׃
16:10	וילך המלך אחז לקראת תגלת פלאסר מלך אשׁור דומשׂק וירא את המזבח אשׁר בדמשׂק וישׁלח המלך אחז אל אוריה הכהן את דמות המזבח ואת תבניתו לכל מעשׂהו׃
16:11	ויבן אוריה הכהן את המזבח ככל אשׁר שׁלח המלך אחז מדמשׂק כן עשׂה אוריה הכהן עד בוא המלך אחז מדמשׂק׃
16:12	ויבא המלך מדמשׂק וירא המלך את המזבח ויקרב המלך על המזבח ויעל עליו׃
16:13	ויקטר את עלתו ואת מנחתו ויסך את נסכו ויזרק את דם השׁלמים אשׁר לו על המזבח׃
16:14	ואת המזבח הנחשׁת אשׁר לפני יהוה ויקרב מאת פני הבית מבין המזבח ומבין בית יהוה ויתן אתו על ירך המזבח צפונה׃
16:15	ויצוהו המלך אחז את אוריה הכהן לאמר על המזבח הגדול הקטר את עלת הבקר ואת מנחת הערב ואת עלת המלך ואת מנחתו ואת עלת כל עם הארץ ומנחתם ונסכיהם וכל דם עלה וכל דם זבח עליו תזרק ומזבח הנחשׁת יהיה לי לבקר׃
16:16	ויעשׂ אוריה הכהן ככל אשׁר צוה המלך אחז׃
16:17	ויקצץ המלך אחז את המסגרות המכנות ויסר מעליהם ואת הכיר ואת הים הורד מעל הבקר הנחשׁת אשׁר תחתיה ויתן אתו על מרצפת אבנים׃
16:18	ואת מיסך השׁבת אשׁר בנו בבית ואת מבוא המלך החיצונה הסב בית יהוה מפני מלך אשׁור׃
16:19	ויתר דברי אחז אשׁר עשׂה הלא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי יהודה׃
16:20	וישׁכב אחז עם אבתיו ויקבר עם אבתיו בעיר דוד וימלך חזקיהו בנו תחתיו׃


16:1	In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah reigned hath Ahaz son of Jotham king of Judah.
16:2	A son of twenty years `is' Ahaz in his reigning, and sixteen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and he hath not done that which `is' right in the eyes of Jehovah his God, like David his father,
16:3	and he walketh in the way of the kings of Israel, and also his son he hath caused to pass over into fire, according to the abominations of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel,
16:4	and he sacrificeth and maketh perfume in high places, and on the heights, and under every green tree.
16:5	Then doth Rezin king of Aram go up, and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, to Jerusalem, to battle, and they lay siege to Ahaz, and they have not been able to fight.
16:6	At that time hath Rezin king of Aram brought back Elath to Aram, and casteth out the Jews from Elath, and the Aramaeans have come in to Elath, and dwell there unto this day.
16:7	And Ahaz sendeth messengers unto Tiglath-Pileser king of Asshur, saying, `Thy servant and thy son `am' I; come up and save me out of the hand of the king of Aram, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who are rising up against me.'
16:8	And Ahaz taketh the silver and the gold that is found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the house of the king, and sendeth to the king of Asshur -- a bribe.
16:9	And hearken unto him doth the king of Asshur, and the king of Asshur goeth up unto Damascus, and seizeth it, and removeth `the people of' it to Kir, and Rezin he hath put to death.
16:10	And king Ahaz goeth to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Asshur `at' Damascus, and seeth the altar that `is' in Damascus, and king Ahaz sendeth unto Urijah the priest the likeness of the altar, and its pattern, according to all its work,
16:11	and Urijah the priest buildeth the altar according to all that king Ahaz hath sent from Damascus; so did Urijah the priest till the coming in of king Ahaz from Damascus.
16:12	And the king cometh in from Damascus, and the king seeth the altar, and the king draweth near on the altar, and offereth on it,
16:13	and perfumeth his burnt-offering, and his present, and poureth out his libation, and sprinkleth the blood of the peace-offerings that he hath, on the altar.
16:14	As to the altar of brass that `is' before Jehovah -- he bringeth `it' near from the front of the house, from between the altar and the house of Jehovah, and putteth it on the side of the altar, northward.
16:15	And king Ahaz commandeth him -- Urijah the priest -- saying, `On the great altar perfume the burnt-offering of the morning, and the present of the evening, and the burnt-offering of the king, and his present, and the burnt-offering of all the people of the land, and their present, and their libations; and all the blood of the burnt-offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice, on it thou dost sprinkle, and the altar of brass is to me to inquire `by'.'
16:16	And Urijah the priest doth according to all that king Ahaz commanded.
16:17	And king Ahaz cutteth off the borders of the bases, and turneth aside from off them the laver, and the sea he hath taken down from off the brazen oxen that `are' under it, and putteth it on a pavement of stones.
16:18	And the covered place for the sabbath that they built in the house, and the entrance of the king without, he turned `from' the house of Jehovah, because of the king of Asshur.
16:19	And the rest of the matters of Ahaz that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?
16:20	And Ahaz lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers, in the city of David, and reign doth Hezekiah his son in his stead.
