2 Kings - Chapter: 20

>
20:1In those dayes was Hezekiah sicke vnto death: and the Prophet Isaiah the sonne of Amos came to him, and saide vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not liue.
20:2Then hee turned his face to the wall, and prayed vnto the Lord, saying;
20:3I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I haue walked before thee in trueth, and with a perfect heart, and haue done that which is good in thy sight: and Hezekiah wept sore.
20:4And it came to passe afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him, saying:
20:5Turne againe, and tell Hezekiah the captaine of my people, Thus saith the Lord, the God of Dauid thy father, I haue heard thy prayer, I haue seene thy teares: behold, I will heale thee; on the third day thou shalt goe vp vnto the house of the Lord.
20:6And I will adde vnto thy dayes fifteene yeeres, and I will deliuer thee, and this city, out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this citie for mine owne sake, and for my seruant Dauids sake.
20:7And Isaiah said, Take a lumpe of figs. And they tooke and layd it on the boile, and he recouered.
20:8And Hezekiah said vnto Isaiah, What shall bee the signe that the Lord wil heale me, and that I shall goe vp into the house of the Lord the third day?
20:9And Isaiah said, This signe shalt thou haue of the Lord, that the Lord will doe the thing that hee hath spoken: shall the shadow goe forward ten degrees, or goe backe tenne degrees?
20:10And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go downe tenne degrees: nay, but let the shadow returne backward tenne degrees.
20:11And Isaiah the Prophet cryed vnto the Lord, and he brought the shadow tenne degrees backeward, by which it had gone downe in the diall of Ahaz.
20:12At that time Berodach-Baladan the sonne of Baladan King of Babylon, sent letters and a present vnto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had beene sicke.
20:13And Hezekiah hearkened vnto them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the siluer, and the golde, and the spices, and the precious oyntment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
20:14Then came Isaiah the Prophet vnto King Hezekiah, and sayde vnto him, What sayd these men? and from whence came they vnto thee? And Hezekiah sayde, They are come from a farre countrey, euen from Babylon.
20:15And he said, What haue they seene in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house haue they seene: there is nothing among my treasures, that I haue not shewed them.
20:16And Isaiah said vnto Hezekiah, Heare the word of the Lord.
20:17Behold, the dayes come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers haue layde vp in store vnto this day, shall be caried vnto Babylon: nothing shall be left, sayth the Lord.
20:18And of thy sonnes that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away, and they shall bee Eunuches in the palace of the king of Babylon.
20:19Then said Hezekiah vnto Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and trueth be in my dayes?
20:20And the rest of the actes of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how hee made a poole and a conduit, & brought water into the city, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
20:21And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and Manasseh his sonne reigned in his stead.

20:1About that time was Hezekiah sicke vnto death: and the Prophet Isaiah the sonne of Amoz came to him, and said vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Put thine house in an order: for thou shalt die, and not liue.
20:2Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the Lord, saying,
20:3I beseech thee, O Lord, remember nowe, howe I haue walked before thee in trueth and with a perfite heart, and haue done that which is good in thy sight: and Hezekiah wept sore.
20:4And afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle of the court, the worde of the Lord came to him, saying,
20:5Turne againe, and tell Hezekiah the captaine of my people, Thus saith the Lord God of Dauid thy father, I haue heard thy prayer, and seene thy teares: behold, I haue healed thee, and ye third day thou shalt go vp to ye house of ye Lord,
20:6And I wil adde vnto thy dayes fiftene yere, and wil deliuer thee and this citie out of the hand of the King of Asshur, and will defende this citie for mine owne sake, and for Dauid my seruats sake.
20:7Then Isaiah sayde, Take a lumpe of dry figges. And they tooke it, and layed it on the boyle, and he recouered.
20:8For Hezekiah had saide vnto Isaiah, What shalbe the signe that the Lord will heale me, and that I shall goe vp into the house of the Lord the thirde day?
20:9And Isaiah answered, This signe shalt thou haue of the Lord, that the Lord will doe that he hath spoken, Wilt thou that the shadowe goe forwarde ten degrees, or go backe ten degrees?
20:10And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadowe to passe forward ten degrees: not so then, but let ye shadow go backe ten degrees.
20:11And Isaiah the Prophet called vnto the Lord, and he brought againe the shadowe ten degrees backe by the degrees whereby it had gone downe in the diall of Ahaz.
20:12The same season Berodach Baladan the sonne of Baladan King of Babel, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard howe that Hezekiah was sicke.
20:13And Hezekiah heard them, and shewed them all his treasure house, to wit, the siluer, and the golde, and the spices, and the precious oyntment, and all the house of his armour, and al that was founde in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, and in all his realme, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
20:14Then Isaiah the Prophet came vnto King Hezekiah, and saide vnto him, What saide these men? and from whence came they to thee? And Hezekiah said, They be come from a farre countrey, euen from Babel.
20:15Then saide he, What haue they seene in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house haue they seene: there is nothing among my treasures, that I haue not shewed the.
20:16And Isaiah said vnto Hezekiah, Heare the worde of the Lord.
20:17Beholde, the dayes come, that all that is in thine house, and what so euer thy fathers haue layed vp in store vnto this day, shall be caryed into Babel: Nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.
20:18And of thy sonnes, that shall proceede out of thee, and which thou shalt beget, shall they take away, and they shalbe eunuches in the palace of the King of Babel.
20:19Then Hezekiah said vnto Isaiah, The word of the Lord which thou hast spoken, is good: for saide he, Shall it not be good, if peace and trueth be in my dayes?
20:20Concerning the rest of the actes of Hezekiah, and all his valiant deedes, and howe he made a poole and a cundite, and brought water into the citie, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
20:21And Hezekiah slept with his fathers: and Manasseh his sonne reigned in his steade.

20:1About that tyme was Hezekia sycke vnto the deeth. And the prophete Isay the sonne of Amoz came to him, and sayde vnto hym. Thus sayth the Lorde: put thyne housholde in an ordre, for thou shalte die, and not lyue.
20:2And Hezekia turned his face to the wall, & prayed vnto the Lorde, sayenge:
20:3I beseche the nowe, O Lorde, remembre howe I haue walked before the in trueth and with a perfecte herte, and haue done that which is good in thy syght, and Hezekia wepte sore.
20:4And it fortuned that afore Isay was gone out into the myddle of the courte, the worde of the Lorde came to him, sayinge:
20:5turne agayne, and tell Hezekia the captayne of my people: Thus sayth the Lorde God of Dauid thy father: I haue herde thy prayer, and sene thy teares. And beholde, I wyll heale the, so that on the thyrde daye thou shalt go vp into the house of the Lorde.
20:6And I wyll adde vnto thy dayes yet fyftene yere, and will delyuer the and this cytie out of the hande of the kynge of Assyria, and wyll defende thys cytie for myne awne sake, and for Dauid my seruauntes sake.
20:7And Isay sayde. Take a lompe of fygges. And they toke and layed it on the sore, and he recouered.
20:8And Hezekia sayde vnto Isay what shalbe the signe, that the Lorde wyll heale me, and that I shall go vp into the house of the Lord the thyrde daye?
20:9Isay answered: thys sygne shalt thou haue of the Lorde, that the Lorde will do that he hath spoken. Shall the shadowe go forwarde ten degrees, or go backe agayne ten degrees?
20:10Hezekia answered it is a lyght thynge for the shadowe to go downe ten degrees. but yf the shadow go backewarde ten degrees, it is no lyght thynge.
20:11And Isay the prophete called vnto the Lorde, and he brought the shadow ten degrees backwarde by which it had gone downe in the dyall of Ahaz.
20:12The same ceason Berodach Baladan the sonne of Baladan kynge of Babilon sent letters and a present vnto Hezekia, for he had hearde, howe that Hezekia was sycke.
20:13And Hezekia was glad of them, and shewed them all hys treasure house syluer, golde, odoures, preciouse oyntmente, all the house of hys armorye, and all that was founde in hys treasures: there was nothinge in hys house, & in all his realme, that Hezekia shewed them not.
20:14And Isay the prophete came vnto kynge Hezekia, and sayde vnto hym. What sayed these men, and from whence came they to the? And Hezekia sayde: they be come from a farre countree, euen from Babilon.
20:15And he sayde agayne: what haue they sene in thy house? Hezekia answered: all the thynges that are in my house haue they sene: there is nothynge amonge my treasures, that I haue not shewed them.
20:16And Isay sayde vnto Hezekia: heare the worde of the Lorde:
20:17Beholde, the dayes come, that all that is in thy house, and whatsoeuer thy fathers haue layde vp in store vnto thys daye shalbe caryed into Babylon, and nothynge shalbe lefte sayth the Lorde.
20:18And of thy sonnes (that shall proceade oute of the, and which thou shalt begette) shall they take awaye, and they shalbe chambrelayns in the palayce of the king of Babilon.
20:19And Hezekia sayde vnto Isay: wellcome be the worde of the Lorde which thou hast spoken: And he sayde: shall ther not be peace and truthe in my dayes?
20:20The remnaunt of the wordes that concerne Hezekia, and all hys power, and howe he made a pole and a conduyte, and brought water into the cytie, are they not written in the boke of the Chronicles of the kynges of Iuda?
20:21And Hezekia slepte wt his fathers, and Manasse hys sonne raygned in hys steade.
