| 35:1 | And Iosia helde the feast of passeouer vnto the Lord in Ierusalem, & they slue passeouer in the fourtene daye of the first moneth. |
| 35:2 | And he set the preastes in theyr offyces, and ayded them in the seruice of the house of the Lorde. |
| 35:3 | And he sayde vnto the Leuytes (that taught all Israel, and were sanctifyed vnto the Lord) put the holy arcke in the house whych Salomon the sonne of Dauid kyng of Israel, dyd buyld, there shall no other burthen be layd vpon youre shoulders: But now serue the Lorde youre God and hys people Israel. |
| 35:4 | And prepare yourselues by youre auncient housholdes and companies, accordynge to the wrytynge of Dauid kyng of Israel, and the wrytyng of Salomon his sonne. |
| 35:5 | And stande in the holy place accordynge to the deuisyon of the auncient housholdes of youre brethren the chyldren of the people, & after the deuisyon of the auncient housholdes of the Leuites, |
| 35:6 | kyll passeouer, & sanctifye and prepare youre brethren, that they may do accordyng to the word of the Lorde by the hande of Moses. |
| 35:7 | And Iosia gaue to the people flockes of shepe and kyddes, all for passeouer and for all that were present, thyrtie thousand by tale, and thre thousande oxen, and these were euen of the kynges substaunce. |
| 35:8 | And hys Lordes gaue willynglye both vnto the people & to the preastes, & vnto the Leuytes. Helkia also, Zacharia and Iehiel, rulers of the house of God, gaue vnto the preastes for passeouer offerynges two thousand and syxe hundred shepe, and thre hundred oxen. |
| 35:9 | Conama & Semeiahu and Nethanel his brethren, and Hasabiahu and Iaiel and Iosabad, rulers of the Leuites, gaue vnto the Leuites Passeouer offerynges, euen fyue thousand shepe, & fyue hundred oxen. |
| 35:10 | And so the seruice was prepared, and the preastes stode in theyr places, and the Leuites in theyr distincte companies at the kynges commaundment. |
| 35:11 | And they slue Passeouer, and the preastes sprinckled the bloude with theyr hande, & the Leuites pulled of the skynnes of the beastes. |
| 35:12 | And they fett awaye the burntofferinges, to geue them vnto the people that were deuyded by auncient houses, & that they shulde offer vnto the Lorde, lyke as it is wrytten in the boke of Moses. And so dyd they wyth the oxen also. |
| 35:13 | And they dressed the Passeouer wyth fyre as the maner was. And the other dedycat beastes: sodde they in pottes, caulderns & pannes, and deuyded them among all the people. |
| 35:14 | And afterwarde, they made readye for them selues & for the preastes: for the chyldren of Aaron were busyed in offeryng of burntofferynges and the fatt vntyll nyght: therfore the Leuites prepared for them selues and for the preastes the sonnes of Aaron. |
| 35:15 | And the syngers, the chyldren of Asaph stode in theyr standynge accordyng to the commaundement of Dauid and Asaph, Heman Ieduthum the kynges sear: and the porters wayted at euery gate, and myght not departe from theyr seruice: for theyr brethren the Leuites prepared for them. |
| 35:16 | And so all the seruice of the Lorde was prepared the same daye, to offer Passeouer, and to offer burntoffrynges vpon the aulter of the Lord accordynge to the commaundement of kyng Iosia. |
| 35:17 | And so the chyldren of Israel that were present, offered Passeouer the same tyme, and kepte the feast of swete breade seuen dayes. |
| 35:18 | And ther was no Passeouer lyke to that kepte in Israel from the dayes of Samuel the prophete: nether dyd all the kynges of Israel hold soch a Passeouer feast as dyd Iosia and the preastes and Leuites and all Iuda, and Israel that were present, and the enhabiters of Ierusalem. |

| 35:20 | After all thys, when Iosia had prepared the temple, Necho kyng of Egypt came vp to fyght agaynst Carcamis besyde Euphrates, and Iosia went out agaynst hym: |
| 35:21 | whych sent messengers to hym, & sayd: what haue I to do wyth the thou kynge of Iuda? Be not thou agaynst thy self this daye: For my warre is agaynst another house, & God bade me make hast. Leaue of therfore & medle not with God whych is wyth me, least he destroye the. |
| 35:22 | Neuerthelesse, Iosia wolde not turne hys face from hym, but rather toke aduyse to fyght with him, and herkened not vnto the wordes of Necho out of the mouth of God, and came to fyght in the valeye of Magedo, |
| 35:23 | & the shoters shott dartes at kyng Iosia. And the kyng sayd to his seruauntes: carye me awaye, for I am sore wounded. |
| 35:24 | His seruauntes therfore had him out of that charet, and put him in another charet that they had. And whan they had brought him to Ierusalem, he dyed, and was buryed in the sepulchre of his fathers. And all Iuda and Ierusalem mourned for Iosia. |
| 35:25 | And Ieremia lamented Iosia, and all syngynge men and synginge wemen mourned for Iosia in their lamentacions, to thys daye, and made the same lamentacions an ordinaunce in Israel, & behold, they be wryten in the lamentacions. |
| 35:26 | The rest of the actes of Iosia & hys goodnes which he dyd in folowynge the wryting in the lawe, |
| 35:27 | and his sayenges, first and last: behold, they are wryten in the boke of the kynges of Israel and Iuda. |
| 35:1 | Forsothe Josie made pask to the Lord in Jerusalem, that was offrid in the fourtenthe dai of the firste monethe; |
| 35:2 | and he ordeynede prestis in her offices; and he comaundide hem for to mynystre in the hows of the Lord. |
| 35:3 | And he spak to the dekenes, at whos techyng al Israel was halewid to the Lord, Sette ye the arke in the seyntuarie of the temple, which Salomon, kyng of Israel, the sone of Dauid, bildide; for ye schulen no more bere it. But now serue `youre Lord God and his puple Israel, |
| 35:4 | and make you redi bi youre housis and meynees in the departyngis of ech bi hym silf, as Dauid, king of Israel, comaundide, and Salomon, his sone, discryuede; |
| 35:5 | and serue ye in the seyntuarie bi the meynees and cumpenyes of dekenes, |
| 35:6 | and be ye halewid, and offre ye pask; also `make redi youre britheren, that thei moun `do bi the wordis, whiche the Lord spak in the hond of Moyses. |
| 35:7 | Ferthermore Josie yaf to al the puple, that was foundun there in the solempnytee of pask, lambren, and kidis of the flockis, and of residue scheep `he yaf thritti thousynde, and of oxis thre thousynde; these thingis of al the catel of the kyng. |
| 35:8 | And hise duykis offriden tho thingis whiche thei avowiden bi fre wille, as wel to the puple as to prestis and dekenes. Forsothe Elchie, and Zacharie, and Jehiel, princes of the hows of the Lord, yauen to preestis, to make pask in comyn, two thousynde and sixe hundrid scheep, and thre hundrid oxis. |
| 35:9 | Forsothe Chononye, and Semei, and Nathanael and hise britheren, also Asabie, Jahiel, and Josabaz, princis of dekenes, yauen to othere dekenes, to make pask, fyue thousynde of scheep, and fyue hundrid oxis. |
| 35:10 | And the seruyce was maad redi; and preestis stoden in her office, and dekenes in cumpenyes, bi comaundement of the kyng; and pask was offrid. |
| 35:11 | And preestis spreynten her hondis with blood, and dekenes drowen of the skynnes of sacrifices, and departiden tho sacrificis, |
| 35:12 | for to yyue bi the housis and meyneis of alle men; and that tho schulden be offrid to the Lord, as it is writun in the book of Moises; and of oxis thei diden in lijk maner. |
| 35:13 | And thei rostiden pask on the fier, bi that that is writun in the lawe. Sotheli thei sethiden pesible sacrifices in pannes, and cawdruns, and pottis, and in haste thei deliden to al the puple; |
| 35:14 | but thei maden redi aftirward to hem silf, and to prestis; for preestis weren occupied `til to nyyt in the offryng of brent sacrifices and of ynnere fatnessis. Wherfor dekenes maden redi to hem silf and to preestis, the sones of Aaron, `the laste. |
| 35:15 | Forsothe syngeris, the sones of Asaph, stoden in her ordre, bi the comaundement of Dauid, and of Asaph, and of Eman, and of Yditum, the profetis of the kyng; but the porteris kepten bi ech yate, so that thei yeden not awei fro the seruice, sotheli in a poynt; wherfor and dekenes, her britheren, maden redi metis to hem. |
| 35:16 | Therfor al the religioun of the Lord was fillid riytfuli in that day, that thei maden pask, and offriden brent sacrifices on the auter of the Lord, bi the comaundement of kyng Josie. |
| 35:17 | And the sones of Israel, that weren foundun there, maden pask in that tyme, and the solempnite of therf looues seuene daies. |
| 35:18 | No pask was lijk this in Israel, fro the daies of Samuel, the prophete; but nethir ony of the kyngis of Israel made pask as Josie dide, to preestis and dekenes, and to al Juda and Israel, that was foundun, and to the dwelleris of Jerusalem. |
| 35:19 | This pask was halewid in the eiytenthe yeer of `the rewme of Josie. |
| 35:20 | Aftir that Josie hadde reparelid the temple, Nechao, the kyng of Egipt, stiede to fiyte in Carcamys bisidis Eufrates; and Josie yede forth in to his metyng. |
| 35:21 | And he seide bi messangeris sent to hym, Kyng of Juda, what is to me and to thee? Y come not ayens thee to dai, but Y fiyte ayens another hows, to which God bad me go in haste; ceesse thou to do ayens God, which is with me, lest he sle thee. |
| 35:22 | Josie nolde turne ayen, but made redi batel ayens hym; and he assentide not to the wordis of Nechao, bi Goddis mouth, but he yede for to fiyte in the feeld of Magedo. |
| 35:23 | And there he was woundide of archeris, and seide to hise children, `Lede ye me out of the batel, for Y am woundid greetli. |
| 35:24 | Whiche baren hym ouer fro the chare in to an other chare, that suede hym, bi custom of the kyng, and `baren out hym in to Jerusalem; and he diede, and was biried in the sepulcre of hise fadris. And al Juda and Jerusalem biweiliden hym, |
| 35:25 | Jeremye moost, of whom alle syngeris and syngeressis `til in to present dai rehersen `lamentaciouns, ether weilyngis, on Josie; and it cam forth as a lawe in Israel, Lo! it is seid writun in Lamentaciouns. Forsothe the residue of wordis of Josie, and of hise mercies, that ben comaundid in the lawe of the Lord, and hise werkis, `the firste and the laste, ben wryten in the book of kyngis of Israel and of Juda. |

| 35:5 | and stonde in the Sanctuary after ye course of the fathers houses amonge youre brethren the children of the people, And after the course of the fathers houses amonge the Leuites, |
| 35:6 | and kyll Passeouer, sanctifye and prepare youre brethren, that they maye do acordinge to the worde of the LORDE by Moses. |
| 35:7 | And Iosias gaue lambes and yonge kyddes which were males, to the Heueofferynge for the comontye (all to the Passeouer for euery one that was founde) in the nombre thirtye thousande, and thre thousande oxen, all of the kynges good. |
| 35:8 | And his prynces of their awne good wyll gaue to the Heueofferynge for the people, & for the prestes and Leuites (namely, Helchias, Zachary and Iehiel the prynces in ye house of God amoge the prestes) for the Passeouer, two thousande and sixe hundreth, And thre hudreth oxen. |
| 35:9 | But Chanania, Semaia, Nathaneel and his brethren, Gasabia, Ieiel and Iosabad the chefe of the Leuites gaue the Leuites to the Heue offerynge for the Passeouer, fyue thousandeshepe, & fyue hundreth oxen. |
| 35:10 | Thus was the Gods seruyce prepared, and the prestes stode in their place, and the Leuites in their courses acordinge to the kynges commaundement. |
| 35:11 | And they kylled the Passeouer, and the prestes toke it off their handes, and sprenkled it: and the Leuites toke the skynnes off them, |
| 35:12 | and remoued the burntofferynge there from, to geue it amonge the porcions of the fathers houses in the multitudes of their congregacion to offre vnto the LORDE, as it is wrytten in ye boke of Moses, Euen so dyd they with the oxen also. |
| 35:13 | And they dighte the Passeouer at the fyre acordinge to the lawe. And that which was halowed, dighte they in pottes, kettels, and pannes, and made haist for the comon people. |
| 35:14 | Afterwarde prepared they for them selues also and for ye prestes: for the prestes the children of Aaron were occupied in the burntofferynges and fat vntyll the nighte. Therfore must the Leuites prepare for them selues and for the prestes the children of Aaron. |
| 35:15 | And the syngers the children of Asaph stode in their place (acordinge to Dauids commaundement) and Asaph and Heman, and Iedithim the kynges Seer, and the porters at all the gates. And they departed not from their office. For the Leuites their brethren prepared for them. |
| 35:16 | Thus was all the Gods seruyce prepared the same daye, that the Passeouer mighte be kepte, and the burntsacrifices offred vpon the altare off the LORDE acordinge to the commaundement of kynge Iosias. |
| 35:17 | So the children of Israel that were at hande, helde Passeouer at that tyme, and the feast of vnleuended bred, seuen dayes. |
| 35:18 | Sence ye tyme of Samuel the prophet, was no Passeouer kepte in Israel like this: and no kynge of Israel had holde soch a Passeouer as Iosias dyd, and the prestes, Leuites, all Iuda, and soch as were founde of Israel, and the inhabiters of Ierusalem. |
| 35:19 | In the eighteth yeare of the reigne of Iosias was this Passeouer kepte. |
| 35:20 | After this, whan Iosias had prepared the house, Necho the kynge of Egipte wente vp to fighte agaynst Carcamis besyde Euphrates. And Iosias wete forth agaynst him. |
| 35:21 | But he sent messaungers vnto him, sayenge: What haue I to do with the O kynge off Iuda? I am not come now agaynst the, but I fighte agaynst another house: and God hath sayde, that I shal make haist. Ceasse from God which is with me, that he destroye the not. |
| 35:22 | Neuertheles Iosias turned not his face from him, but prepared himselfe to fighte with him, and herkened not vnto the wordes of Necho out of the mouth of God, & came to fighte wt him vpon the playne besyde Mageddo. |
| 35:23 | But the Archers shot at kynge Iosias. And the kynge sayde vnto his seruauntes: Cary me awaye, for I am sore wounded. |
| 35:24 | And his seruautes toke him from the charet, and caried him vpon his seconde charet, and broughte him to Ierusalem. And he dyed, and was buried amonge the sepulcres off his fathers. And All Iuda and Ierusalem mourned for Iosias, |
| 35:25 | and Ieremy bewayled Iosias, and all the synginge men and wemen, spake their lametacions ouer Iosias vnto this daye, and made a custome therof vnto this daye. Beholde, it is wrytten also amonge the Lamentacions. |
| 35:26 | What more there is to saye of Iosias, and his mercy acordinge to the scripture in the lawe of the LORDE, |
| 35:27 | and of his actes (both first and last) beholde, it is wrytten in the boke of the kynges of Israel and Iuda. |
