Ezra - Chapter: 3

>
3:1And when the seuenth moneth came, and the children of Israel were nowe in theyr cyties, the people came togeather (euen as one man) vnto Ierusalem.
3:2And there stode vp Iesua the sonne of Iosedec and his brethren the prestes, and Zorobabel the sonne of Salathiel & hys brethren, and buylded the aultar of the God of Israel, to offre burntoffrynges theron, as it is writen in the lawe of Moses the man of God
3:3and the aultar set they vpon hys socketes (for ther was a fearfulnes amonge them because of the nacions and landes) therfore they offered burntoffringes theron vnto the Lord in the morning & at euen.
3:4And they helde the feaste of tabernacles as it is writen, & offered burnt sacrifices dayly, acording to the nombre & custome, daye by daye.
3:5Afterwarde they offred dayly burntoffringes also, & in the new mones and in all the feast dayes that were consecrate vnto the Lorde, and for all them whych dyd (of their awne fre wyll) offre vnto the Lord.
3:6From the first daye of the seuenth moneth beganne they to offre burntsacryfyces vnto the Lorde: euen whan the foundacyon of the temple of the Lord was not yet layed.
3:7They gaue money also vnto the masons and carpenters, and meate and dryncke and oyle vnto them of Zidon and of Tire, to brynge them Cedre tymbre from Libanus by see vnto Ioppa, accordyng to the graunt that they had of Cyrus the kynge of Persia.
3:8In the seconde yere of their comming vnto the place of the house of God at Ierusalem in the second moneth, beganne Zorobabel the sonne of Salathiell, & Iesua the sonne of Iosedec, and the remnaunt of theyr brethren the prestes and leuites, and all they that were come out of the captiuyte vnto Ierusalem, & appoynted the leuytes from twentye yeare olde and aboue, to se, that the worcke of the house of the Lorde went forwarde.
3:9And Iesua stode with his sonnes and brethren, and Cadmiell with his sonnes, and the chyldren of Iuda, to forther the worckemen of the house of God, euen the children of Henadab, with their children and their brethren the leuites.
3:10And whan the builders layd the foundacyon of the temple of the Lorde, the preastes stode in theyr araye, with trompetes. And the leuites the chyldren of Asaph with cymbales, to prayse the Lorde after the maner of Dauid kyng of Israell.
3:11And they sang together, whan they gaue prayse & thankes vnto the Lord, because he is gracious, and because his mercy endureth for euer vpon Israell. And all the people shouted loude in praysyng the Lord, because the foundacion of the house of the Lorde was layde.
3:12Many also of the preastes and leuites and auncient fathers, which had sene the first house (when the foundacion of thys house was layed before theyr eyes) wepte with a loude voyce. And many shouted with ioye,
3:13so that the noyse gaue a greate sounde, in so moch that the people coulde not discerne the ioyful sounde and gladnes, from the noyse of the wepynge amonge the people: for the people shouted wyth a loude cry, and the noyse was herde farre of.

 

3:1And thanne the seuenthe monethe was comun, and the sones of Israel weren in her citees.
3:2Therfor the puple was gaderid as o man in to Jerusalem. And Josue, the sone of Josedech, roos, and hise britheren, prestis, and Zorobabel, the sone of Salatiel, and hise britheren, and thei bildiden the auter of God of Israel for to offre therynne brent sacrifices, as it is writun in the lawe of Moises, the man of God.
3:3Forsothe thei settiden the auter on his foundementis, while the puplis of londis bi cumpas maden hem aferd, and thei offriden on that auter brent sacrifice to the Lord in the morewtid and euentid.
3:4And thei maden solempnytee of tabernaclis, as it is writun, and brent sacrifice ech dai bi ordre, `bi the werk of the dai comaundid in his dai.
3:5And after this thei offriden contynuel brent sacrifice, bothe in calendis and in alle solempnytees of the Lord, that weren halewid, and in alle solempnytees, in which yifte was offrid to the Lord bi fre wille.
3:6In the firste dai of the seuenthe monethe thei bigunnen to offre brent sacrifice to the Lord; certis the temple of God was not foundid yit.
3:7But thei yauen monei to heweris of stoon, and to liggeris of stoon, and thei yauen mete, and drynke, and oile, to men of Sidon, and `to men of Tire, that thei schulden brynge cedre trees fro the Liban to the see of Joppe, bi that that Cirus, kyng of Persis, hadde comaundid to hem.
3:8Forsothe in the secounde yeer of her comyng to the temple of God in Jerusalem, in the secounde monethe, Zorobabel, the sone of Salatiel, and Josue,
3:9the sone of Josedech, and othere of her britheren, preestis and dekenes, and alle that camen fro the caitifte in to Jerusalem, bigunnen; and thei ordeyneden dekenes, fro twenti yeer and aboue, for to haste the werk of the Lord; and Josue stood, and hise sones, and hise britheren, Cedynyel and hise sones, and the sones of Juda, as o man, to be bisi ouer hem that maden the werk in the temple of God; the sones of Benadab, her sones and her britheren, dekenes, `weren bisy.
3:10Therfor whanne the temple `of the Lord was foundid of stoon leggeris, prestis stoden in her ournement with trumpis, and dekenes, the sones of Asaph, in cymbalis, for to herie God bi the hond of Dauid, kyng of Israel.
3:11And thei sungen togidere in ympnes and knoulechyng to the Lord, For he is good, for his merci is with outen ende on Israel. And al the puple criede with greet cry, in preisynge the Lord, for the temple of the Lord was foundid.
3:12Also ful manye of the preestis, and of the dekenes, and the princes of fadris, and the eldre men, that hadden seyn the formere temple, whanne it was foundid, and this temple bifor her iyen, wepten with greet vois, and many men criynge in gladnesse reisiden the vois;
3:13and no man myyte knowe the vois of cry of men beynge glad, and the vois of wepyng of the puple; for the puple criede togidere with greet cry, and the vois was herd afer.

3:2And there stode vp Iesua the sonne of Iosedec and his brethren the prestes, and Zorobabel the sonne of Saalthiel and his brethren, and buylded the altare of the God of Israel, to offre burntofferynges theron, as it is wrytten in the lawe of Moses the man of God,
3:3and the altare set they vpon his sokettes (for there was a fearfulnes amonge them because of the nacions and lodes) and offred burntofferinges theron vnto ye LORDE in the mornynge and at euen.
3:4And helde the feast of Tabernacles as it is wrytten, and offred burntsacrifices daylie after the nombre as acordinge was, euery daye his sacrifice.
3:5Afterwarde the daylie burntofferynges also, and of the new Mones and of all the feast dayes of the LORDE that were halowed, and allmaner of fre wyllinge offeringes, which they did of their awne fre wyl vnto the LORDE.
3:6Vpon the first daye of the seuenth moneth beganne they to offre burnt sacrifices vnto the LORDE. But the foundacion of the teple of the LORDE was not yet layed.
3:7Neuertheles they gaue money vnto ye masons and carpenters, and meate and drynke and oyle vnto them of Zidon and of Tyre, to brynge the Cedre tymbre from Libanus by See vnto Ioppa, acordinge to the comaundement of Cyrus the kynge of Persia.
3:8In the seconde yeare of their commynge vnto the house of God at Ierusalem in the seconde moneth, beganne Zorobabel the sonne of Salathiel, and Iesua the sonne of Iosedec, and the remnaunt of their brethren the prestes and Leuites, and all they that were come out of the captiuyte vnto Ierusalem, and appoynted the Leuites fro twentye yeare olde and aboue, to se that the worke of the house of the LORDE wete forwarde.
3:9And Iesua stode with his sonnes and brethren, and Cadmiel with his sonnes, and the children of Iuda, to furthur the workmen of the house of God, namely the childre of Henadad with their children and their brethren the Leuites.
3:10And whan the buylders layed the foundacion of the temple of the LORDE, the prestes stode in their araye, with trompettes. And the Leuites the children of Asaph with Cimbales, to prayse ye LORDE with the Dytie of Dauid kynge of Israel.
3:11And they sunge together, geuynge prayse & thankes vnto ye LORDE, because he is gracious, and because his mercy endureth for euer vpon Israell. And all the people shouted loude in praysinge the LORDE, because the foundacion of ye house of the LORDE was layed.
3:12Neuertheles many of the olde prestes and Leuites and awncient fathers, which had sene the house afore in his foundacion, and this was now before their eyes, wepte loude. But many shouted with ioye,
3:13so that the noyse gaue a greate sounde, in so moch that the people coulde not knowe ye ioyfull sounde for the noyse of the wepinge in the people: for the people shouted loude, so that the noyse was herde farre of.
