| 5:1 | And on the thyrde daye it fortuned, that Esther put on her royall apparell, & stode in the court of the kynges palace within, ouer agaynst the kynges house. And the kyng sate vpon his royall seate in the kynges palace ouer agaynst the gate of the house. |
| 5:2 | And when the kyng sawe Esther the quene standyng in the court, she found grace in hys syght. And the kyng helde out the golden scepter that was in his hande towarde Esther. So Esther stepte forth, and touched the toppe of the scepter. |
| 5:3 | Then sayde the kynge vnto her: What wylt thou quene Esther? and what requyrest thou? aske euen the halfe of the empire, and it shall be geuen the. |
| 5:4 | And Esther answered. If it please the kyng, let the kyng & Haman come this daye vnto the bancket, that I haue prepared for hym. |
| 5:5 | And the kyng sayde: cause Haman to make hast, that he maye do as Esther hath sayde. So the kyng & Haman came to the banket that Esther had prepared, |
| 5:6 | & the kyng sayde vnto Esther at the bancket of wyne: what is thy peticyon? that it maye be geuen the. And what requyrest thou? If it be euen the halfe of the empire, it shalbe done. |
| 5:7 | Then answered Esther, and sayd, my peticion and desyre is, |
| 5:8 | yf I haue founde grace in the syght of the kyng, and yf it please the kyng, to geue me my peticion, & to fulfyll my request, then let the kyng & Haman come to the bancket that I shall prepare for them, and so will I do tomorow, as the kyng hath sayde. |
| 5:9 | Then went Haman forth the same daye ioyfull and mery in his mynde. And when the same Haman sawe Mardocheus in the kynges gate, that he stode not vp & kneled before hym, he was full of indignacion at Mardocheus. |
| 5:10 | Neuertheles, Haman refrayned him selfe: & when he came home, he sent, and called for his frendes, & Zares his wyfe, |
| 5:11 | and Haman tolde them of the glory of his ryches, and the multitude of his children, & all together howe the kyng had promoted him so greatly and howe that he had set him aboue the princes and seruauntes of the kyng. |
| 5:12 | Haman sayd moreouer: Yee & Esther the quene dyd let no man come in with the kyng vnto the bancket that she had prepared, excepte me, & tomorow am I bidden vnto her also with the kyng. |
| 5:13 | But in all this am I not satisfyed, as longe as I se Mardocheus the Iewe syttynge at the kynges gate. |
| 5:14 | Then sayd Zares hys wyfe and all hys frendes vnto him: Let them make a galowse of fyftye cubites hye, and tomorow speake thou vnto the kyng, that Mardocheus maye be hanged theron, & go thou in merely wyth the kynge vnto the bancket. And Haman was wel content with all, & caused the galowes to be made. |
| 5:1 | Forsothe in the thridde dai Hester was clothid in `the kyngis clothis, and stood in the porche of the kyngis hows, that was `the ynnere ayens the kyngis halle; and he sat on his trone, in the consistorie of the paleis, ayens the dore of the hows. |
| 5:2 | And whanne he hadde seyn Hester, the queen, stondynge, sche pleside hise iyen, and he helde forth ayens hir the goldun yerde, which he helde in the hond; and sche neiyide, and kisside the hiynesse of his yerde. |
| 5:3 | And the king seide to hir, Hester, the queen, what `wolt thou? what is thin axyng? Yhe, thouy thou axist the half part of my rewme, it schal be youun to thee. |
| 5:4 | And sche answeride, If it plesith the kyng, Y biseche, that thou come to me to dai, and Aaman with thee, to the feeste, which Y haue maad redi. |
| 5:5 | And anoon the king seide, Clepe ye Aaman soone, that he obeie to the wille of Hester. Therfor the kyng and Aaman camen to the feeste, which the queen hadde maad redi to hem. |
| 5:6 | And the king seide to hir, aftir that he hadde drunk wiyn plenteuousli, What axist thou, that it be youun to thee, and for what thing axist thou? Yhe, thouy thou axist the half part of my rewme, thou schalt gete. |
| 5:7 | To whom Hester answeride, My axyng and preieris ben these. |
| 5:8 | If Y haue founde grace in the siyt of the kyng, and if it plesith the kyng, that he yyue to me that, that Y axe, and that he fille myn axyng, the kyng and Aaman come to the feeste, which Y haue maad redi to hem; and to morewe Y schal opene my wille to the kyng. |
| 5:9 | Therfor Aaman yede out glad and swift `in that dai. And whanne he hadde seyn Mardochee sittynge bifor the yatis of the paleys, and not oneli to haue not rise to hym, but sotheli nether moued fro the place of his sittyng, he was ful wrooth; |
| 5:10 | and `whanne the ire was dissymelid, he turnede ayen in to his hows, and he clepide togidire `to him silf frendis, and Zares, his wijf; |
| 5:11 | and he declaride to hem the greetnesse of his richessis, and the cumpeny of children, and with hou greet glorie the kyng hadde enhaunsid hym aboue alle hise princis and seruauntis. |
| 5:12 | And he seide after these thinges, Also the queen Hester clepide noon other man with the kyng to the feeste, outakun me, anentis `which queen Y schal ete also to morewe with the kyng. |
| 5:13 | And whanne Y haue alle these thingis, Y gesse that Y haue no thing, as long as Y se Mardochee, Jew, sittynge bifor the `kyngis yatis. |
| 5:14 | And Zares, his wijf, and othere frendis answeriden to hym, Comaunde thou an hiy beem to be maad redi, hauynge fifti cubitis of heiythe; and seie thou eerly to the kyng, that Mardochee be hangid theronne; and so thou schalt go glad with the kyng to the feeste. |

| 5:4 | Hester sayde: Yf it please ye kynge, let ye kynge & Aman come this daye vnto ye banket yt I haue prepared. |
| 5:5 | The kynge sayde: Cause Aman to make haist, yt he maye do as Hester hath saide. Now wha the kynge & Aman came to ye banket yt Hester had prepared, |
| 5:6 | the kynge sayde vnto Hester whan he had dronken wyne: Hester, what is thy peticion? it shal be geue the. And what requyrest thou? euen the halfe of the empyre, it shal be done. |
| 5:7 | Then answered Hester and sayde: My peticion and desire is, |
| 5:8 | yf I haue founde grace in ye sight of the kynge, & yf it please the kinge to geue me my peticion, and to fulfill my request, then let the kynge & Aman come to the bancket yt I shal prepare for the, and so wil I do tomorow as the kynge hath sayde. |
| 5:9 | Then wente Aman forth the same daye ioyfull and mery in his mynde. And whan he sawe Mardocheus in the kynges gate, yt he stode not vp and kneled before him, he was full of indignacion at Mardocheus. |
| 5:10 | Neuertheles he refrained himselfe: and wha he came home, he sent, and called for his fredes, and Seres his wyfe, |
| 5:11 | and tolde them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, all together how the kynge had promoted him so greatly, and how that he was taken aboue the prynces and seruauntes of the kynge. |
| 5:12 | Aman sayde morouer: Yee and Hester the quene let no man come with the kynge vnto the bancket that she had prepared, excepte me, and tomorow am I bidden vnto her also with the kynge. |

| 5:14 | Then sayde Seres his wife and all his frendes vnto him: Let the make a galowe of fiftye cubites hie, & tomorow speake thou vnto the kynge, that Mardocheus maye be hanged theron, yf thou comest merely with the kynge vnto the bancket. Aman was well content withall, and caused a galowe to be prepared. |
