Job - Chapter: 19

>
19:1Iob answered, and sayde:
19:2how longe will ye vexe my soule, and trouble me with wordes?
19:3Lo ten tymes haue ye reproued me: and are not a shamed, for to laugh me so to scorne:
19:4yf I go wronge, I go wronge to my selfe.
19:5But yf ye will enhaunce your selues agaynst me, and accuse me to be a wycked personne because of the shame that is come vpon me:
19:6knowe this then, that it is God, which hath handled me so violently and hath compased me aboute with his nette.
19:7Yf I complayne of the violence that is done vnto me, I cannot be herde. And yf I crye, there is no sentence geuen with me.
19:8He hath hedged vp my waye, that I cannot passe, and he hath set darcknesse in my pathes.
19:9He hath spoyled me of myne honoure, and taken the crowne awaye fro my head.
19:10He hath destroyed me on euery syde, and I am vndone: My hope hath he taken awaye fro me, as it were a tre pluckt vp by the rote.
19:11His wrath is kyndled agaynst me: he taketh me, as though I were hys enemy.
19:12Hys men of warre came together, which made their waye ouer me, and beseged my dwellynge rounde aboute.
19:13He hath put my brethren farre awaye fro me, and soch as were of myne acquayntance, are become straungers vnto me.
19:14Myne awne kynsfolkes haue forsaken me, and my frendes haue put me out of remembraunce.
19:15The seruauntes and maydens of myne awne house toke me for a straunger: and I am be come as an aleaunt in theyr syght.
19:16I called my seruaunt, and he gaue me no answere, no though I prayed him with my mouth.
19:17Myne awne wyfe myght not abyde my breth, I was fayne to speake fayre for the chyldren of myne awne body.
19:18Yee, the children despysed me: And when I was gone from them, they spake euell vpon me.
19:19All soch as were my most familiers, abhorred me: and they whom I loued best, are turned agaynst me.
19:20My bone hangeth to my skynne and my flesh is awaye, only there is left me the skynne aboute my teth.
19:21Haue pyte vpon me, haue pyte vpon me (O ye my frendes) for the hand of God hath touched me.
19:22Why do ye persecute me as God doth, and are not satisfyed of my flesshe?
19:23O that my wordes were nowe written O that they were put in a boke:
19:24wolde God they were grauen with an yron penne in leade or in stone to continue.
19:25For I am sure, that my redemer lyueth, and that I hall ryse out of the earth in the latter daye:
19:26that I shall be clothed agayne with this skynne, and se God in my flesh.
19:27Yee, I my selfe shall beholde him, not with other, but with these same eyes. My reynes are consumed within me:
19:28dyd not ye saye: why doth he soffer persecucion? Is theyr founde an occasion in me?
19:29But be warre of the swearde, for the swearde wylbe auenged of wyckednesse, and be sure, that there is a iudgement.

19:1Forsothe Joob answeride, and seide, Hou long turmente ye my soule,
19:2and al to-breken me with wordis?
19:3Lo! ten sithis ye schenden me, and ye ben not aschamed, oppressynge me.
19:4Forsothe and if Y `koude not, myn vnkynnyng schal be with me.
19:5And ye ben reisid ayens me, and repreuen me with my schenschipis.
19:6Nameli now vndurstonde ye, that God hath turmentid me not bi euene doom, and hath cumpassid me with hise betyngis.
19:7Lo! Y suffrynge violence schal crye, and no man schal here; Y schal crye loude, and `noon is that demeth.
19:8He bisette aboute my path, and Y may not go; and he settide derknessis in my weie.
19:9He hath spuylid me of my glorye, and hath take awey the coroun fro myn heed.
19:10He hath distried me on ech side, and Y perischide; and he hath take awei myn hope, as fro a tre pullid vp bi the roote.
19:11His stronge veniaunce was wrooth ayens me; and he hadde me so as his enemye.
19:12Hise theues camen togidere, and `maden to hem a wei bi me; and bisegiden my tabernacle in cumpas.
19:13He made fer my britheren fro me; and my knowun as aliens yeden awei fro me.
19:14My neiyboris forsoken me; and thei that knewen me han foryete me.
19:15The tenauntis of myn hows, and myn handmaydis hadden me as a straunger; and Y was as a pilgrym bifor her iyen.
19:16Y clepide my seruaunt, and he answeride not to me; with myn owne mouth Y preiede hym.
19:17My wijf wlatide my breeth; and Y preiede the sones of my wombe.
19:18Also foolis dispisiden me; and whanne Y was goon awei fro hem, thei bacbitiden me.
19:19Thei, that weren my counselouris sum tyme, hadden abhomynacioun of me; and he, whom Y louede moost, was aduersarie to me.
19:20Whanne fleischis weren wastid, my boon cleuyde to my skyn; and `oneli lippis ben left aboute my teeth.
19:21Haue ye merci on me, haue ye merci on me, nameli, ye my frendis; for the hond of the Lord hath touchid me.
19:22Whi pursuen ye me, as God pursueth; and ben fillid with my fleischis?
19:23Who yyueth to me, that my wordis be writun? Who yyueth to me,
19:24that tho be writun in a book with an yrun poyntil, ethir with a plate of leed; ethir with a chisel be grauun in a flynt?
19:25For Y woot, that myn ayenbiere lyueth, and in the laste dai Y schal rise fro the erthe;
19:26and eft Y schal be cumpassid with my skyn, and in my fleisch Y schal se God, my sauyour.
19:27Whom Y my silf schal se, and myn iyen schulen biholde, and not an other man. This myn hope is kept in my bosum.
19:28Whi therfor seien ye now, Pursue we hym, and fynde we the roote of a word ayens hym?
19:29Therfor fle ye fro the face of the swerd; for the swerd is the vengere of wickidnessis, and wite ye, that doom schal be.

19:1Iob answered, & sayde:
19:2How loge wil ye vexe my mynde, & trouble me with wordes?
19:3Lo, ten tymes haue ye reproued me: are ye not ashamed, for to laugh me so to scorne?
19:4yf I go wronge, I go wronge to my self.
19:5But yf ye wil enhaunce yor selues agaynst me, & accuse me to be a wicked personne because of the shame that is come vpon me:
19:6knowe this then, yt it is God, which hath handled me so violetly, & hath compased me aboute with his scourges.
19:7Beholde, though I crie, yet violece is done vnto me, I can not be herde: Though I complane, there is none to geue sentece with me.
19:8He hath hedged vp my path, I ca not get awaye, he hath set darcknesse in my gate.
19:9He hath spoyled me of myne honoure, & taken the crowne awaye fro my heade.
19:10He hath destroyed me on euery syde, and I am vndone: My hope hath he taken awaye fro me, as it were a tre plucte vp by the rote.
19:11His wrath is kyndled agaynst me, he taketh me, as though I were his enemy.
19:12His men of warre came together, which made their waye ouer me, and beseged my dwellinge rounde aboute.
19:13He hath put my brethren farre awaye fro me, and soch as were of myne acquauntaunce, are become straugers vnto me.
19:14Myne owne kyn?folkes haue forsaken me, and my frendes haue put me out of remembraunce.
19:15The seruauntes and maydens of myne owne house take me for a strauger, and I am become as an aleaunt in their sight.
19:16When I call vpon my seruaut, he geueth me no answere: no though I praie him with my mouth.
19:17Myne owne wyfe maye not abyde my breth, I am fayne to speake fayre vnto the children of myne owne body.
19:18Yee the very deserte fooles despyse me, and when I am gone from them, they speake euell vpon me.
19:19All soch as were my most familiers, abhorre me: and they whom I loued best, are turned agaynst me.
19:20My bone hangeth to my skynne, and the flesh is awaye, only there is left me the skynne aboute my teth.
19:21Haue pite vpon me, haue pite vpon me (o ye my frendes) for the hande of the LORDE hath touched me.
19:22Seynge God persecuteth me, wil ye vexe me also? Haue ye not yet ynough of the trouble of my flesh?
19:23O that my wordes were written, O that they were put in a boke:
19:24wolde God they were graue wt an yron pene in leade or in stone.
19:25For I am sure, that my redemer lyueth, and that I shall ryse out of the earth in the latter daye:
19:26that I shal be clothed againe with this skynne, and se God in my flesh.
19:27Yee I my self shal beholde him, not with other but with these same eyes. My reynes are consumed within me,
19:28when yee saye: Why do not we persecute him? we haue founde an occasion agaynst him.
19:29But bewarre of the swearde, for the swearde wylbe avenged of wickednesse, and be sure, that there is a iudgment.
