| 29:1 | Moreouer Iob continued his parable, and said, |
| 29:2 | O that I were as in moneths past, as in the dayes when God preserued me. |
| 29:3 | When his candle shined vpon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkenesse: |
| 29:4 | As I was in the dayes of my youth, when the secret of God was vpon my tabernacle: |
| 29:5 | When the Almightie was yet with me, when my children were about me: |
| 29:6 | When I washed my steps with butter, and the rocke powred me out riuers of oyle: |
| 29:7 | When I went out to the gate, through the citie, when I prepared my seate in the street. |
| 29:8 | The yong men saw me, and hid themselues: and the aged arose, and stood vp. |
| 29:9 | The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth. |
| 29:10 | The Nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaued to the roofe of their mouth. |
| 29:11 | When the eare heard mee, then it blessed me, and when the eye saw me, it gaue witnesse to me: |
| 29:12 | Because I deliuered the poore that cried, and the fatherlesse, and him that had none to helpe him. |
| 29:13 | The blessing of him that was readie to perish, came vpon me: and I caused the widowes heart to sing for ioy. |
| 29:14 | I put on righteousnesse, and it clothed me: my iudgement was as a robe and a diademe. |
| 29:15 | I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame. |
| 29:16 | I was a father to the poore: and the cause which I knewe not, I searched out. |
| 29:17 | And I brake the iawes of the wicked, and pluckt the spoile out of his teeth. |
| 29:18 | Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiplie my dayes as the sand. |
| 29:19 | My roote was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night vpon my branch. |
| 29:20 | My glory was fresh in mee, and my bow was renewed in my hand. |
| 29:21 | Unto me men gaue eare, and waited, and kept silence at my counsell. |
| 29:22 | After my words they spake not againe, & my speach dropped vpon them, |
| 29:23 | And they waited for me as for the raine, and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter raine. |
| 29:24 | If I laughed on them, they beleeued it not, and the light of my countenance they cast not downe. |
| 29:25 | I chose out their way, and sate chiefe, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners. |
| 29:1 | So Iob proceeded and continued his parable, saying, |
| 29:2 | Oh that I were as in times past, when God preserued me! |
| 29:3 | When his light shined vpon mine head: and when by his light I walked thorowe the darkenesse, |
| 29:4 | As I was in the dayes of my youth: when Gods prouidence was vpon my tabernacle: |
| 29:5 | When the almightie was yet with me, and my children round about me. |
| 29:6 | When I washed my pathes with butter, and when the rocke powred me out riuers of oyle: |
| 29:7 | When I went out to the gate, euen to the iudgement seat, and when I caused them to prepare my seate in the streete. |
| 29:8 | The yong men saw me, and hid themselues, and the aged arose, and stood vp. |
| 29:9 | The princes stayed talke, and layde their hand on their mouth. |
| 29:10 | The voyce of princes was hidde, and their tongue cleaued to the roofe of their mouth. |
| 29:11 | And when the eare heard me, it blessed me: and when the eye sawe me, it gaue witnesse to me. |
| 29:12 | For I deliuered the poore that cryed, and the fatherlesse, and him that had none to helpe him. |
| 29:13 | The blessing of him that was ready to perish, came vpon me, and I caused the widowes heart to reioyce. |
| 29:14 | I put on iustice, and it couered me: my iudgement was as a robe, and a crowne. |
| 29:15 | I was the eyes to the blinde, and I was the feete to the lame. |
| 29:16 | I was a father vnto the poore, and when I knewe not the cause, I sought it out diligently. |
| 29:17 | I brake also the chawes of the vnrighteous man, and pluckt the praye out of his teeth. |
| 29:18 | Then I sayde, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiplie my dayes as the sand. |
| 29:19 | For my roote is spread out by the water, and the dewe shall lye vpon my branche. |
| 29:20 | My glory shall renue towarde me, and my bowe shall be restored in mine hand. |
| 29:21 | Vnto me men gaue eare, and wayted, and helde their tongue at my counsell. |
| 29:22 | After my wordes they replied not, and my talke dropped vpon them. |
| 29:23 | And they wayted for me, as for the raine, and they opened their mouth as for the latter rayne. |
| 29:24 | If I laughed on them, they beleeued it not: neither did they cause the light of my countenance to fall. |
| 29:25 | I appoynted out their way, and did sit as chiefe, and dwelt as a King in the army, and like him that comforteth the mourners. |
| 29:1 | So Iob proceaded and went forth in his communicacyon, sayenge. |
| 29:2 | O that I were as I was in the monethes by past, and in the dayes when God preserued me: |
| 29:3 | when his light shyned vpon my head: when I wente after the same lyght and shynynge, euen thorowe the darcknesse. |
| 29:4 | As it stode with me when I was yonge: when God prospered my house: |
| 29:5 | when the Almyghtie was yet with me: when my chyldren stode aboute me: |
| 29:6 | when my wayes ranne ouer with butter, and when the stony rockes gaue me ryuers of oyle: |
| 29:7 | when I wente thorowe the cytie vnto the gate, and when they set me a chayre in the strete: |
| 29:8 | when the yonge men (as soone as they sawe me) hid them selues, and when the aged arose, and stode vp vnto me, |
| 29:9 | when the Princes left of their talkinge, and layed their hande to their mouth: |
| 29:10 | when the myghty kepte still their voyce, and when their tonge cleued to the rofe of their mouthe. |
| 29:11 | When all they that herde me, called me happye: and when all they that sawe me, spake good of me. |
| 29:12 | For I deliuered the poore when he cried, and so did I the fatherlesse and him that had none to holde him. |
| 29:13 | He that shulde haue bene lost, gaue me a good worde, and the wyddowes herte praysed me. |
| 29:14 | And why? I put vpon me ryghteousnes, which couered me as a garment, and equyte was my crowne. |
| 29:15 | I was an eye vnto the blynde, and a fote to the lame, |
| 29:16 | I was a father vnto the poore: and when I knewe not the cause, I sought it out diligently. |
| 29:17 | I brake the chawes of the vnrighteous man, and pluckte the spoyle out of his teth. |
| 29:18 | Therfore, I thought verely that I shuld haue dyed in my nest: and that my dayes shulde haue bene as many as the sondes of the see. |
| 29:19 | For my roote was spred out by the watersyde, and the dewe laye vpon my corne. |
| 29:20 | Myne honour encreased more and more, and my bowe was euer the stronger in my hand. |
| 29:21 | Unto me men gaue eare, me they regarded, and with sylence they taryed for my councell. |
| 29:22 | If I had spoken, they wolde haue it none other wayes, my wordes were so well taken amonge them. |
| 29:23 | They wayted for me as for the rayne: and gaped vpon me, as the grounde doth to receaue the latter shower. |
| 29:24 | When I laughed, they knewe well it was not earnest: and the lyght of my countenaunce wolde they not put out. |
| 29:25 | When I agreed vnto theyr waye, I was the chefe, and sat as a kynge with hys armye aboute hym. And whan they were in heuynes, I was theyr comfortoure. |
