| 34:1 | Elihu proceadynge forth in hys answere, sayd: |
| 34:2 | Heare my wordes (O ye wyse men) herken vnto me, ye that haue vnderstandynge. |
| 34:3 | For the eare proueth and discerneth the wordes, and the mouth tasteth the meates: |
| 34:4 | As for iudgement, let vs seke it out amonge oure selues, that we may knowe what is good. |
| 34:5 | And why? Iob hath sayde: I am ryghteous, but God doth me wronge. |
| 34:6 | I must neades be a lyer, though my cause me ryght, and violently I am plaged where as I made no faut: |
| 34:7 | where is there soch a one as Iob, that drincketh vp scornefulnes lyke water? |
| 34:8 | whych goeth in the company of wycked doers, and walketh wyth vngodly men? |
| 34:9 | For he hath sayed: Though a man be good, yet is he naught before God. |
| 34:10 | Therfore herken vnto me, ye that haue vnderstandynge. Farre be it from God, that he shuld medle wyth wickednesse: and farre be it from the Almyghtye, that he shulde medle wyth vnryghteous dealynge: |
| 34:11 | For he shall reward the worckes of man, and cause euery man to fynde accordynge to his wayes. |
| 34:12 | For sure it is, that God condemneth no man wrongefully, and the iudgement of the Almyghtye is not vnryghteous. |
| 34:13 | Who ruleth the earth in his steade? Or, whom hath he sett to gouerne the whole worlde? |
| 34:14 | To whom hath he geuen hys herte, for to drawe hys sprete and breth vnto hym? |
| 34:15 | All flesh shall come together vnto naught, and all men shall turne agayne vnto dust. |
| 34:16 | If thou now haue vnderstandyng, heare what I saye, and herken to the voyce of my wordes? |
| 34:17 | Maye he be a ruler, that loueth no ryght? Or maye he that is a very innocent man, do vngodly? |
| 34:18 | Is it reason, that thou shuldest saye to the kynge: Thou art wicked, or, thou art vngodly, and that before the prynces? |
| 34:19 | He hath no respecte vnto the personnes, of the lordly, and regardeth not the rych more then the poore. For they be all the worcke of hys handes. |
| 34:20 | In the twyncklinge of an eye shall they dye: and at mydnight, when the people and the tyrauntes rage, then shall they perish, and be taken awaye without handes. |
| 34:21 | And why? his eyes loke vpon the wayes of man, and he seyth all hys goynges. |
| 34:22 | There is no darcknes nor shadowe of death, that can hyde the wycked doers from hym. |
| 34:23 | For no man shalbe suffred to go into iudgement wt God. |
| 34:24 | Many one: yee innumerable doth he punyshe, & setteth other in their steades. |
| 34:25 | Therfore shall he declare their worckes, he shall turne the nyght, and they shall be destroyed. |
| 34:26 | They that were in the steade of Sears, dealt lyke vngodly men: |
| 34:27 | and therfore he punyshed them, because they turned back from hym, and wolde not consyder all hys wayes. |
| 34:28 | In so moch that they haue caused the voyce of the poore to come vnto hym, and now he heareth the complaynte of soche as are in trouble. |
| 34:29 | If he graunte pardon, who wyll condemne? And yf he hyde awaye hys countenaunce, who shalbe able to se it? whether it be to the people or to any man, thus wyll he do. |
| 34:30 | For the vngodlynesse of the people, doth God make an ypocrite to reygne, ouer them. |
| 34:31 | For so moch then as I haue begonne to talke of God, I will not hyndre the. |
| 34:32 | If I haue gone a mysse, enfourme thou me: yf I haue done wronge, I will leaue of. |
| 34:33 | Can he do nothinge without the? For thou hast reproued hys iudgement. Thou also hast thyne awne mynde and not I. |
| 34:34 | But speake on what thou knowest. Let men of vnderstonding tell me, and let a wyse man herken vnto me. |
| 34:35 | As for Iob, he hath nether spoken to the purpose nor wisely. |
| 34:36 | O father, let Iob be well tryed, because he hath answered for wycked men: |
| 34:37 | yee, aboue his synne he doth wyckedly: triumpheth amonge vs, and multiplieth hys wordes agaynst God. |
| 34:1 | And Helyu pronounside, and spak also these thingis, |
| 34:2 | Wise men, here ye my wordis, and lerned men, herkne ye me; for the eere preueth wordis, |
| 34:3 | and the throte demeth metis bi taast. |
| 34:4 | Chese we doom to vs; and se we among vs, what is the betere. |
| 34:5 | For Job seide, Y am iust, and God hath distried my doom. |
| 34:6 | For whi lesynge is in demynge me, and myn arowe is violent with out ony synne. |
| 34:7 | Who is a man, as Joob is, that drynkith scornyng as watir? |
| 34:8 | that goith with men worchynge wickidnesse, and goith with vnfeithful men? |
| 34:9 | For he seide, A man schal not plese God, yhe, thouy he renneth with God. |
| 34:10 | Therfor ye men hertid, `that is, vndurstonde, here ye me; vnpite, `ethir cruelte, be fer fro God, and wickidnesse fro Almyyti God. |
| 34:11 | For he schal yelde the werk of man to hym; and bi the weies of ech man he schal restore to hym. |
| 34:12 | For verili God schal not condempne with out cause; nether Almyyti God schal distrie doom. |
| 34:13 | What othere man hath he ordeyned on the lond? ether whom hath he set on the world, which he made? |
| 34:14 | If God dressith his herte to hym, he schal drawe to hym silf his spirit and blast. |
| 34:15 | Ech fleisch schal faile togidere; `and a man schal turne ayen in to aisch. |
| 34:16 | Therfor if thou hast vndurstondyng, here thou that that is seid, and herkne the vois of my speche. |
| 34:17 | Whether he that loueth not doom may be maad hool? and hou condempnest thou so myche him, that is iust? |
| 34:18 | Which seith to the kyng, Thou art apostata; which clepith the duykis vnpitouse, `ethir vnfeithful. |
| 34:19 | `Which takith not the persoones of princes, nether knew a tyraunt, whanne he stryuede ayens a pore man; for alle men ben the werk of hise hondis. |
| 34:20 | Thei schulen die sudeynli, and at mydnyyt puplis schulen be troblid, `ethir schulen be bowid, as othere bookis han; and schulen passe, and schulen take `awei `a violent man with out hond. |
| 34:21 | For the iyen of God ben on the weies of men, and biholdith alle goyngis of hem. |
| 34:22 | No derknessis ben, and no schadewe of deeth is, that thei, that worchen wickidnesse, be hid there; |
| 34:23 | for it is `no more in the power of man, that he come to God in to doom. |
| 34:24 | God schal al to-breke many men and vnnoumbrable; and schal make othere men to stonde for hem. |
| 34:25 | For he knowith the werkis of hem; therfor he schal brynge yn niyt, and thei schulen be al to-brokun. |
| 34:26 | He smoot hem, as vnpitouse men, in the place of seinge men. |
| 34:27 | Whiche yeden awei fro hym bi `castyng afore, and nolden vndurstonde alle hise weies. |
| 34:28 | That thei schulden make the cry of a nedi man to come to hym, and that he schulde here the vois of pore men. |
| 34:29 | For whanne he grauntith pees, who is that condempneth? Sithen he hidith his cheer, who is that seeth hym? And on folkis and on alle men `he hath power `to do siche thingis. |
| 34:30 | Which makith `a man ypocrite to regne, for the synnes of the puple. |
| 34:31 | Therfor for Y haue spoke to God, also Y schal not forbede thee. |
| 34:32 | If Y erride, teche thou me; if Y spak wickidnesse, Y schal no more adde. |
| 34:33 | Whether God axith that wickidnesse of thee, for it displeside thee? For thou hast bigunne to speke, and not Y; that if thou knowist ony thing betere, speke thou. |
| 34:34 | Men vndurstondynge, speke to me; and a wise man, here me. |
| 34:35 | Forsothe Joob spak folili, and hise wordis sownen not techyng. |
| 34:36 | My fadir, be Joob preuede `til to the ende; ceesse thou not fro the man of wickidnesse, |
| 34:37 | `that addith blasfemye ouer hise synnes. Be he constreyned among vs in the meene tyme; and thanne bi hise wordis stire he God to the doom. |

| 34:3 | For like as the mouth tasteth the meates, so the eare proueth & discerneth the wordes. |
| 34:4 | As for the iudgmet, let vs seke it out amonge or selues, yt we maye knowe what is right. |
| 34:5 | And why? Iob hath sayde: I am rightuous, but God doth me wronge. |
| 34:6 | I must nedes be a lyar, though my cause be right: & violetly am I plaged, where as I made no fawte. |
| 34:7 | where is there soch one as Iob, yt drinketh vp scornefulnes like water? |
| 34:8 | which goeth in ye company of wicked doers, & walketh wt vngodly me? |
| 34:9 | For he saieth: Though a ma be good, yet is he naught before God. |

| 34:13 | Who ruleth the earth in his steade? Or, whom hath he set to gouerne the whole worlde? |
| 34:14 | To whom hath he geuen his herte, for to drawe his sprete and breth vnto him? |
| 34:15 | All flesh shal come together vnto naught, & all me shal turne agayne vnto earth. |
| 34:16 | Yf thou now haue vnderstodinge, heare what I saye and herken to the voyce of my wordes. |
| 34:17 | Maye he be made whole, that loueth no right? Yf thou were a very innocent man, shuldest thou then be punyshed? |
| 34:18 | For he is euen the same, yt knoweth the rebellious kynges, & sayeth to princes: |
| 34:19 | Vngodly men are ye He hath no respecte vnto the personnes of ye lordly, & regardeth not the rich more the poore. For they be all the worke of his hondes. |
| 34:20 | In the twincklinge off an eye shall they be slayne: and at mydnight, when the people & the tyrauntes rage, then shal they perish, ad be taken awaye with out hondes. |
| 34:21 | And why? his eyes loke vpon the wayes of man, and he seyth all his goinges. |
| 34:22 | There is no darcknes ner thicke shadowe, yt can hyde the wicked doers from him. |
| 34:23 | For no ma shalbe suffred to go into iudgment with God. |

| 34:25 | For he knoweth their euell & darcke workes, therfore shal they be destroyed. |
| 34:26 | They that were in ye steade of Seers, dealt like vngodly me. |
| 34:27 | Therfore turned they back traytorously and vnfaithfully fro hi, & wolde not receaue his wayes. |
| 34:28 | In so moch that they haue caused ye voyce of the poore to come vnto him, & now he heareth the coplaynte of soch as are in necessite. |
| 34:29 | Yf he delyuer & graunte pardo, who will iudge or condemne? But yf he hyde awaye his countenaunce, who wil turne it aboute agayne, whether it be to the people or to eny man? |
| 34:30 | For the wickednesse & synne of ye people, he maketh an ypocrite to reigne ouer the. |
| 34:31 | For so moch then as I haue begonne to talke of God, I wil not hyndre the. |
| 34:32 | Yf I haue gone amysse, enfourme me: yf I haue done wronge, I wil leaue of. |
| 34:33 | Wilt thou not geue a reasonable answere? Art thou afrayed of eny thinge, seynge thou beganest first to speake, & not I? |
| 34:34 | For els the men of vnderstodinge & wisdome that haue herde me, might saye: What cast thou speake? |
| 34:35 | As for Iob he hath nether spoken to the purpose ner wysely. |
| 34:36 | O father, let Iob be well tryed, because he he hath turned himself to ye wicked: |
| 34:37 | yee aboue his synnes he hath blasphemed, which offence he hath done euen before vs, in yt he stryueth agaynst God with his wordes. |
