Job - Chapter: 36

>
36:1Elihu proceaded forth in hys talkyng, and sayd:
36:2Holde the styll a lytle, & I shall shewe the, what I haue yet to speake on Goddes behalfe.
36:3I wyll open vnto the yet more of myne vnderstandynge, & proue my mater ryghteous.
36:4And truly, my wordes shall not be vayne, seynge he is with the that is perfect in knowlege:
36:5behold, the greate God casteth awaye no man, for he him selfe is myghty in power and wysdome.
36:6As for the vngodly, he shall not preserue hym, but shall helpe the poore to their ryght.
36:7He shall turne hys eyes awaye from the ryghteous, but as kynges shall they be in theyr trone, he shall stablysh them for euer, & they shalbe exalted.
36:8But yf they be layed in preson and cheynes, or bounde with the bondes of trouble,
36:9then wyll he shewe them theyr worcke, and the synnes wher with they haue vsed cruell vyolence.
36:10He wyth punysshynge and nurtringe of them, roundeth them in the eares, warneth them to leaue of from theyr wyckednesse, & to amende.
36:11If they now wyll take hede and serue him, they shall were out theyr dayes in prosperite, and theyr yeares in pleasure and ioye.
36:12But yf they wyll not herken, they shall go thorow the swearde, and perysh or euer they be aware.
36:13As for soch as be fayned ypocrites, they shall heape vp wrath for them selues: for they call not vpon hym, though they be hys presoners.
36:14Thus shall theyr soule perysshe in folyshnesse, & theyr lyfe shalbe condemned among the fornicatours.
36:15The poore shall he delyuer out of his affliction, & rounde them in the eare whan they be in trouble.
36:16Euen so shall he kepe the (yf thou wylt be content) from the bottomlesse pytte that is beneth: & yf thou wylt holde the quyete, he shall fyll thy table wyth plenteousnesse.
36:17Neuerthelesse, thou hast condemned the iudgement of the vngodly, yee, euen soche a iudgement and sentence shalt thou suffre.
36:18For then shall not thy cause be stylled wyth crueltye, nor pacyfyed wyth many gyftes.
36:19Thynkest thou, that he wyll regarde thy riches? he shall not care for golde, ner for all them that excell in strength.
36:20Prolonge not thou the tyme, tyll ther come a nyght for the, to set other people in thy steade.
36:21But bewarre that thou turne not asyde to wyckednesse and synne, which hither to thou hast chosen more then mekenesse.
36:22Behold, God is of a mighttye hye power: Where is there soche a gyde & lawe geuer as he?
36:23Who wyll reproue hym of hys waye? who wyll saye vnto him: thou hast done wrong?
36:24O consydre how greate and excellent hys worckes be, whom all men loue and prayse:
36:25yee, wondre at hym, and yet they se hym but afarre of.
36:26Beholde, so greate is God, that he passeth oure knowledge, nether are we able to come to the experience of hys yeares.
36:27He turneth the water to small droppes, he dryueth hys cloudes together for to rayne,
36:28so that they poure downe and droppe vpon men.
36:29He can sprede out the cloudes (a couerynge of hys tabernacle)
36:30and cause hys lyght to shyne vpon them, and to couer the botome of the see.
36:31By these thinges gouerneth he hys people, and geueth them aboundaunce of meate.
36:32Wyth the cloudes he hydeth the lyght, and at hys commaundement it commeth agayne.
36:33The rysyng vp therof sheweth he to hys frendes & to the catell.

36:1Also Helyu addide, and spak these thingis,
36:2Suffre thou me a litil, and Y schal schewe to thee; for yit Y haue that, that Y schal speke for God.
36:3Y schal reherse my kunnyng fro the bigynnyng; and Y schal preue my worchere iust.
36:4For verili my wordis ben with out leesyng, and perfit kunnyng schal be preued to thee.
36:5God castith not awei myyti men, sithen he is myyti;
36:6but he saueth not wickid men, and he yyueth dom to pore men.
36:7He takith not awei hise iyen fro a iust man; and he settith kyngis in seete with out ende, and thei ben reisid there.
36:8And if thei ben in chaynes, and ben boundun with the roopis of pouert,
36:9he schal shewe to hem her werkis, and her grete trespassis; for thei weren violent, `ethir rauenours.
36:10Also he schal opene her eere, that he chastise; and he schal speke, that thei turne ayen fro wickidnesse.
36:11If thei heren, and kepen, thei schulen fille her daies in good, and her yeris in glorie.
36:12Sotheli if thei heren not, thei schulen passe bi swerd, and thei schulen be wastid in foli.
36:13Feyneris and false men stiren the ire of God; and thei schulen not crye, whanne thei ben boundun.
36:14The soule of hem schal die in tempest; and the lijf of hem among `men of wymmens condiciouns.
36:15He schal delyuere a pore man fro his angwisch; and he schal opene `the eere of hym in tribulacioun.
36:16Therfor he schal saue thee fro the streit mouth of the broddeste tribulacioun, and not hauynge a foundement vndur it; sotheli the rest of thi table schal be ful of fatnesse.
36:17Thi cause is demed as the cause of a wickid man; forsothe thou schalt resseyue thi cause and doom.
36:18Therfor ire ouercome thee not, that thou oppresse ony man; and the multitude of yiftis bowe thee not.
36:19Putte doun thi greetnesse with out tribulacioun, and putte doun alle stronge men bi strengthe.
36:20Dilaie thou not nyyt, that puplis stie for hem.
36:21Be thou war, that thou bowe not to wickidnesse; for thou hast bigunne to sue this wickidnesse aftir wretchidnesse.
36:22Lo! God is hiy in his strengthe, and noon is lijk hym among the yyueris of lawe.
36:23Who mai seke out the weies of God? ethir who dar seie to hym, Thou hast wrouyt wickidnesse?
36:24Haue thou mynde, that thou knowist not his werk, of whom men sungun.
36:25Alle men seen God; ech man biholdith afer.
36:26Lo! God is greet, ouercomynge oure kunnyng; the noumbre of hise yeeris is with out noumbre.
36:27Which takith awei the dropis of reyn; and schedith out reynes at the licnesse of floodyatis,
36:28whiche comen doun of the cloudis, that hilen alle thingis aboue.
36:29If he wole stretche forthe cloudis as his tente,
36:30and leite with his liyt fro aboue, he schal hile, yhe,
36:31the herris of the see. For bi these thingis he demeth puplis, and yyueth mete to many deedli men.

36:1Eliu proceaded forth in his talkinge, & sayde:
36:2holde the still a litle, and I shal shewe the, what I haue yet to speake on Gods behalfe.

36:4True are my wordes, & no lye: and the knowlege wherwithall I argue agaynst the, is perfecte.
36:5Beholde, God casteth not awaye ye mightie, for he himselff is mightie in power and wisdome.
36:6As for the vngodly, he preserueth the not but helpeth the poore to their right.
36:7He turneth not his eyes awaye from the rightuous he setteth vp kynges in their Trone, and cofirmeth them, so that they allwaye syt therin.
36:8But yf they be layed in preson and cheynes, or bounde with the bondes of pouerte:
36:9then sheweth he them their workes ad dedes and the synnes wherwt they haue vsed cruell violence.
36:10He with punyshinge and nurturinge off them, rowneth them in the eares, warneth them to leaue of from their wickednesse, and to amende.
36:11Yf they now will take hede and be obedient, they shall weere out their dayes in prosperite, and their yeares in pleasure ad ioye.
36:12But yff they will not obeye, they shall go thorow the swearde, & perish or euer they be awarre.
36:13As for soch as be fayned, dyssemblers and ypocrytes, they heape vp wrath for them selues: for they call not vpon him, though they be his presoners.
36:14Thus their soule perisheth in foolishnesse, and their lyfe wt ye condened.
36:15The poore delyuereth he out of his straytnesse, and comforteth soch as be in necessite and trouble.
36:16Euen so shall he kepe the (yf thou wilt be content) from the bottomlesse pytte that is beneth: & yf thou wilt holde the quyete, he shal fyll thy table with plenteousnesse.
36:17Neuerthelesse, thou hast condemned the iudgment of the vngodly, yee euen soch a iudgment and sentence shalt thou suffre.
36:18For then shal not thy cause be stilled with crueltie, ner pacified with many giftes.
36:19Hath God ordened then, that the glorious life off the & all soch mightie men shulde not be put downe?
36:20Prolonge not thou the tyme, till there come a night for the, to set other people in thy steade.
36:21But bewarre that thou turne not asyde to wickednesse and synne, which hyther to thou hast chosen more then mekenesse.
36:22Beholde, God is of a mightie hye power: Where is there soch a gyde and lawegeuer as he?
36:23Who wil reproue him of his waye? who wil saye vnto him: thou hast done wronge?
36:24O considre how greate and excellent his workes be, whom all men loaue and prayse:
36:25yee wondre at him, and yet they se him but afarre of.
36:26Beholde, so greate is God, that he passeth oure knowlege, nether are we able to come to ye experiece of his yeares.
36:27He turneth ye water to smaldroppes, he dryueth his cloudes
36:28together for to rayne, so that they poure downe and droppe vpon men.
36:29He can sprede out the cloudes (a couerynge off his tabernacle)
36:30and cause his light to shyne vpo them, and to couer the botome of the see.
36:31By these thinges gouerneth he his people, and geueth the abundaunce of meate.
36:32In ye turnynge of a hande he hydeth the light, & at his commaundement it commeth agayne.
36:33The rysinge vp therof sheweth he to his frendes and to the catell.
