Psalms - Chapter: 69

>
69:1[To the chiefe musician vpon Shoshannim, A Psalme of Dauid.] Saue mee, O God, for the waters are come in vnto my soule.
69:2I sinke in deepe mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deepe waters, where the flouds ouerflow me.
69:3I am weary of my crying, my throate is dried: mine eyes faile while I waite for my God.
69:4They that hate mee without a cause, are moe then the haires of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mightie: then I restored that which I tooke not away.
69:5O God, thou knowest my foolishnesse; and my sinnes are not hidde from thee.
69:6Let not them that waite on thee, O Lord God of hostes, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seeke thee, be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.
69:7Because for thy sake I haue borne reproch: shame hath couered my face.
69:8I am become a stranger vnto my brethren, and an aliant vnto my mothers children.
69:9For the zeale of thine house hath eaten mee vp; and the reproches of them that reproched thee, are fallen vpon me.
69:10When I wept, and chastened my soule with fasting, that was to my reproch.
69:11I made sackecloth also my garment: & I became a prouerbe to them.
69:12They that sit in the gate, speake against mee; and I was the song of the drunkards.
69:13But as for mee, my prayer is vnto thee, O Lord, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercie heare me, in the trueth of thy saluation.
69:14Deliuer me out of the mire, and let me not sinke: let me bee deliuered from them that hate me, and out of the deepe waters.
69:15Let not the water flood ouerflow me, neither let the deepe swallow mee vp, and let not the pit shut her mouth vpon me.
69:16Heare me, O Lord, for thy louing kindnesse is good: turne vnto mee according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.
69:17And hide not thy face from thy seruant, for I am in trouble: heare me speedily.
69:18Draw nigh vnto my soule, and redeeme it: deliuer me because of mine enemies.
69:19Thou hast knowen my reproch and my shame and my dishonor: mine aduersaries are all before thee.
69:20Reproch hath broken my heart, and I am full of heauines: and I looked for some to take pitie, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
69:21They gaue mee also gall for my meat, and in my thirst they gaue mee vineger to drinke.
69:22Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should haue bene for their welfare, let it become a trap.
69:23Let their eyes be darkened that they see not; and make their loines continually to shake.
69:24Powre out thine indignation vpon them, and let thy wrathfull anger take hold of them.
69:25Let their habitation be desolate, and let none dwell in their tents.
69:26For they persecute him who thou hast smitten, and they talke to the griefe of those whom thou hast wounded.
69:27Adde iniquitie vnto their iniquitie: and let them not come into thy righteousnesse.
69:28Let them bee blotted out of the booke of the liuing, and not be written with the righteous.
69:29But I am poore, and sorowfull: let thy saluation (O God) set me vp on high.
69:30I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnifie him with thankesgiuing.
69:31This also shall please the Lord better then an oxe or bullocke that hath hornes and hoofes.
69:32The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall liue that seeke good.
69:33For the Lord heareth the poore, and despiseth not his prisoners.
69:34Let the heauen and earth praise him, the seas, and euery thing that moueth therein.
69:35For God will saue Sion, and will build the cities of Iudah, that they may dwell there, and haue it in possession.
69:36The seede also of his seruants shall inherit it: and they that loue his name shall dwell therein.

69:1To him that excelleth upon Shoshannim. A Psalme of David. Save mee, O God: for the waters are entred euen to my soule.
69:2I sticke fast in the deepe myre, where no staie is: I am come into deepe waters, and the streames runne ouer me.
69:3I am wearie of crying: my throte is drie: mine eyes faile, whiles I waite for my God.
69:4They that hate mee without a cause, are moe then the heares of mine heade: they that would destroy mee, and are mine enemies falsly, are mightie, so that I restored that which I tooke not.
69:5O God, thou knowest my foolishnesse, and my fautes are not hid from thee.
69:6Let not them that trust in thee, O Lord God of hostes, be ashamed for me: let not those that seeke thee, be confounded through mee, O God of Israel.
69:7For thy sake haue I suffred reproofe: shame hath couered my face.
69:8I am become a stranger vnto my brethren, euen an aliant vnto my mothers sonnes.
69:9For the zeale of thine house hath eaten mee, and the rebukes of them that rebuked thee, are fallen vpon me.
69:10I wept and my soule fasted, but that was to my reproofe.
69:11I put on a sacke also: and I became a prouerbe vnto them.
69:12They that sate in the gate, spake of mee, and the drunkards sang of me.
69:13But Lord, I make my praier vnto thee in an acceptable time, euen in the multitude of thy mercie: O God, heare me in the trueth of thy saluation.
69:14Deliuer mee out of the myre, that I sinke not: let me be deliuered from them that hate me, and out of the deepe waters.
69:15Let not the water flood drowne mee, neither let the deepe swallowe me vp: and let not the pit shut her mouth vpon me.
69:16Heare me, O Lord, for thy louing kindnes is good: turne vnto me according to ye multitude of thy tender mercies.
69:17And hide not thy face from thy seruant, for I am in trouble: make haste and heare me.
69:18Draw neere vnto my soule and redeeme it: deliuer me because of mine enemies.
69:19Thou hast knowen my reproofe and my shame, and my dishonour: all mine aduersaries are before thee.
69:20Rebuke hath broken mine heart, and I am full of heauinesse, and I looked for some to haue pitie on me, but there was none: and for comforters, but I found none.
69:21For they gaue me gall in my meate, and in my thirst they gaue me vineger to drinke.
69:22Let their table be a snare before them, and their prosperitie their ruine.
69:23Let their eyes be blinded that they see not: and make their loynes alway to tremble.
69:24Powre out thine anger vpon them, and let thy wrathfull displeasure take them.
69:25Let their habitation be voide, and let none dwell in their tents.
69:26For they persecute him, whome thou hast smitten: and they adde vnto the sorrowe of them, whome thou hast wounded.
69:27Laie iniquitie vpon their iniquitie, and let them not come into thy righteousnesse.
69:28Let them be put out of the booke of life, neither let them be written with the righteous.
69:29When I am poore and in heauinesse, thine helpe, O God, shall exalt me.
69:30I will praise the Name of God with a song, and magnifie him with thankesgiuing.
69:31This also shall please the Lord better then a yong bullocke, that hath hornes and hoofes.
69:32The humble shall see this, and they that seeke God, shalbe glad, and your heart shall liue.
69:33For the Lord heareth the poore, and despiseth not his prisoners.
69:34Let heauen and earth praise him: the seas and all that moueth in them.
69:35For God will saue Zion, and builde the cities of Iudah, that men may dwell there and haue it in possession.
69:36The seede also of his seruants shall inherit it: and they that loue his name, shall dwel therein.

69:1To the chaunter vpon Sosanim of Dauid. Saue me, O God, for the waters are come in euen vnto my soule.
69:2I sticke fast in the depe myre, where no ground is: I am come into depe waters, so that the floudes renne ouer me.
69:3I am wery of crying, my throte is drie, my sight faileth me, for waytinge so long vpon my God.
69:4They that hate me without a cause, are mo then the heeres of my head: they that are myne enemies & wolde destroie me giltlesse are mightie:
69:5I payed them the thinges that I neuer toke. God, thou knowest my simplenesse, and my fautes are not hid from the.
69:6Let not them that trust in the, O Lord God of Hoostes be ashamed for my cause: let not those that seke the, be confounded thorowe me, O God of Israeli.
69:7And why? for thy sake haue I suffred reprofe, shame hath couered my face.
69:8I am become a straunger vnto my brethren: euen an aleaunt vnto my mothers children.
69:9For the zele of thyne house hath euen eaten me, and the rebukes of them that rebuked the are fallen vpon me.
69:10I wepte and chastened my selfe with fastynge, and that was turned to my reprofe.
69:11I put on a sacke cloth also, & they iested vpon me.
69:12They that sitte in the gate, speake agaynst me, and the dronckardes make songes vpon me.
69:13But Lorde I make my prayer vnto the in an acceptable tyme.
69:14Heare me, O God, in the multitude of thy mercy, euen in the trueth of thy saluacion.
69:15Take me out of the myre, that I sincke not. Oh let me be deliuered from them that hate me, and out of the depe waters.
69:16Let not the water floud drowne me: nether let the depe swalowe me vp, and let not the pytte shut her mouth vpon me.
69:17Heare me, O Lorde, for thy louyng kyndnesse is comfortable: turne the vnto me accordynge vnto the multitude of thy mercies.
69:18And hyde not thy face from thy seruaunt, for I am in trouble: O haste the, and here me.
69:19Drawe nye vnto my soule, and saue it: Oh delyuer me because of myne enemies.
69:20Thou hast knowen my reprose, my shame and my dyshonour: myne aduersaries are all in thy syght.
69:21The rebuke hath broken my herte, I am full of heuynes: I loked for some to haue pitye vpon me, but there was no man: nether founde I anye to comforte me.
69:22They gaue me gall to eate, & when I was thyrsty, they gaue me vineger to drinke.
69:23Let their table be made a snare to take them selues withall, and let the thinges (that shuld haue bene for their welth) be vnto them an occasion of fallinge.
69:24Let their eyes be blinded, that they se not: and euer bowe thou downe their backes.
69:25Powre out thyne indignacion vpon them, and let thy wrathfull displeasure take holde of them.
69:26Let their habitacion be voyde and no man to dwell in their tentes.
69:27For they persecute hym whom thou hast smyte, & they talke how they maye vexe them whom thou hast wounded.
69:28Let them fall from one wyckednesse to another, and not come into thy ryghteousnesse.
69:29Let them be wyped out of the boke of the lyuyng, & not be wrytten among the ryghteous.
69:30As for me, whan I am poore and in heuynesse, thy helpe (O God) shall lyfte me vp.
69:31I wyll prayse the name of God with a songe, and magnifye it wt thankesgeuing.
69:32This also shall please the Lorde better then a bullocke, that hath hornes and hooffes.
69:33The humble shal consydre this, and be glad: seke ye after God, and youre soule shall lyue.
69:34For the Lord heareth the poore, and despyseth not his presoners.
69:35Let heauen and earth prayse hym, the see & all that moueth therin.
69:36For God will saue Syon, and buylde the cyties of Iuda, that men may dwell there, and haue it in possession. The posterite also of his seruauntes shall inheret it: & they that loue hys name, shall dwell therin.
