| 73:1 | [A Psalme of Asaph.] Truely God is good to Israel, euen to such as are of a cleane heart. |
| 73:2 | But as for mee, my feete were almost gone: my steps had well-nigh slipt. |
| 73:3 | For I was enuious at the foolish, when I sawe the prosperity of the wicked. |
| 73:4 | For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firme. |
| 73:5 | They are not in trouble as other men: neither are they plagued like other men. |
| 73:6 | Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chaine: violence couereth them as a garment. |
| 73:7 | Their eies stand out with fatnes: they haue more then heart could wish. |
| 73:8 | They are corrupt, and speake wickedly concerning oppression: they speake loftily. |
| 73:9 | They set their mouth against the heauens; and their tongue walketh through the earth. |
| 73:10 | Therefore his people returne hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. |
| 73:11 | And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? |
| 73:12 | Behold, these are the vngodly: who prosper in the world, they increase in riches. |
| 73:13 | Uerily I haue cleansed my heart in vaine, and washed my hands in innocencie. |
| 73:14 | For all the day long haue I bene plagued, and chastened euery morning. |
| 73:15 | If I say, I will speake thus: behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children. |
| 73:16 | When I thought to know this, it was too painfull for me, |
| 73:17 | Untill I went into the Sanctuarie of God; then vnderstood I their end. |
| 73:18 | Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them downe into destruction. |
| 73:19 | How are they brought into desolation as in a moment? they are vtterly consumed with terrours. |
| 73:20 | As a dreame when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest thou shalt despise their image. |
| 73:21 | Thus my heart was greeued, and I was pricked in my reines. |
| 73:22 | So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. |
| 73:23 | Neuerthelesse I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. |
| 73:24 | Thou shalt guide me with thy counsell; and afterward receiue me to glory. |
| 73:25 | Whom haue I in heauen but thee? and there is none vpon earth that I desire besides thee. |
| 73:26 | My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for euer. |
| 73:27 | For loe, they that are farre from thee, shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that goe a whoring from thee. |
| 73:28 | But it is good for me, to drawe neere to God: I haue put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy workes. |

| 73:6 | Therefore pride is as a chayne vnto them, and crueltie couereth them as a garment. |
| 73:7 | Their eyes stande out for fatnesse: they haue more then heart can wish. |
| 73:8 | They are licentious, and speake wickedly of their oppression: they talke presumptuously. |
| 73:9 | They set their mouth against heauen, and their tongue walketh through the earth. |
| 73:10 | Therefore his people turne hither: for waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. |
| 73:11 | And they say, Howe doeth God know it? or is there knowledge in the most High? |
| 73:12 | Lo, these are the wicked, yet prosper they alway, and increase in riches. |
| 73:13 | Certainely I haue clensed mine heart in vaine, and washed mine hands in innocencie. |
| 73:14 | For dayly haue I bene punished, and chastened euery morning. |
| 73:15 | If I say, I will iudge thus, beholde the generation of thy children: I haue trespassed. |
| 73:16 | Then thought I to know this, but it was too painefull for me, |
| 73:17 | Vntill I went into the Sanctuarie of God: then vnderstoode I their ende. |
| 73:18 | Surely thou hast set them in slipperie places, and castest them downe into desolation. |
| 73:19 | How suddenly are they destroyed, perished and horribly consumed, |
| 73:20 | As a dreame when one awaketh! O Lord, when thou raisest vs vp, thou shalt make their image despised. |
| 73:21 | Certainely mine heart was vexed, and I was pricked in my reines: |
| 73:22 | So foolish was I and ignorant: I was a beast before thee. |
| 73:23 | Yet I was alway with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. |
| 73:24 | Thou wilt guide me by thy counsell, and afterward receiue me to glory. |
| 73:25 | Whom haue I in heauen but thee? and I haue desired none in the earth with thee. |
| 73:26 | My flesh fayleth and mine heart also: but God is the strength of mine heart, and my portion for euer. |
| 73:27 | For loe, they that withdrawe themselues from thee, shall perish: thou destroyest all them that goe a whoring from thee. |

| 73:5 | They come in no misfortune like other folke, nether are they plaged like other men. |
| 73:6 | And this is the cause the they be so holden with pride, and ouerwhelmed with cruelte. |
| 73:7 | Their eyes swell for fatnesse, and they do euen what they lyst. |
| 73:8 | They corrupte other, & speake of wicked blasphemye: theyr talkynge is agaynst the most hiest. |
| 73:9 | For they stretch forth theyr mouth vnto the heauen, & theyr tonge goeth thorow the world. |
| 73:10 | Therfore fall the people vnto them, and there out sucke they no small aduauntage. |
| 73:11 | Tush (saye they) how shuld God perceaue it? is there knowlege in the moost hyest? |
| 73:12 | Lo, these are the vngodly, these prospere in the worlde, and these haue ryches in possessyon |
| 73:13 | Then haue I clensed my herte in vayne and washed my handes in innocency? |
| 73:14 | All the daye long haue I bene punished, and chastened euery mornynge. |
| 73:15 | Yee, and I had almost sayde euen as they: but lo, then shuld I haue condemned the generacyon of thy chyldren. |
| 73:16 | Then thought I to vnderstand this, but it was to harde for me. |
| 73:17 | Untill I wente into the Sanctuary of God, then vnderderstode I the ende of these men. |
| 73:18 | Namely, how thou dost sett them in slyppery places, and castest them downe and destroyest them. |
| 73:19 | O how sodenly do they consume, perysh, and come to a fearfull ende? |
| 73:20 | Yee, euen like as a dreame when one a waketh, so shalt thou make theyr ymage to vanysh out of the cyte. |
| 73:21 | Thus my hert was greued, and it wente euen thorow my reynes. |
| 73:22 | So folysh was I and ignoraunt, euen as it were a beast before the. |
