Psalms - Chapter: 74

>
74:1[Maschil of Asaph.] O God, why hast thou cast vs off for euer? why doeth thine anger smoke against the sheepe of thy pasture?
74:2Remember thy Congregation which thou hast purchased of olde: the rod of thine inheritance which thou hast redeemed, this mount Sion, wherein thou hast dwelt.
74:3Lift vp thy feete vnto the perpetuall desolations: euen all that the enemie hath done wickedly in the Sanctuarie.
74:4Thine enemies roare in the midst of thy congregations: they set vp their ensignes for signes.
74:5A man was famous according as he had lifted vp axes vpon the thicke trees.
74:6But now they breake downe the carued worke thereof at once, with axes and hammers.
74:7They haue cast fire into thy Sanctuary, they haue defiled by casting downe, the dwelling place of thy Nawe to the ground.
74:8They said in their hearts, Let vs destroy them together: they haue burnt vp all the Synagogues of God in the land.
74:9We see not our signes, there is no more any prophet, neither is there among vs any that knoweth howe long.
74:10O God, how long shall the aduersarie reproach? shall the enemie blaspheme thy Name for euer?
74:11Why withdrawest thou thy hand, euen thy right hand? plucke it out of thy bosome.
74:12For God is my King of old working saluation in the midst of the earth.
74:13Thou didst diuide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.
74:14Thou brakest the heads of Leuiathan in pieces, and gauest him to bee meat to the people inhabiting the wildernesse.
74:15Thou didst cleaue the fountaine and the flood: thou driedst vp mightie riuers.
74:16The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sunne.
74:17Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: Thou hast made Summer and Winter.
74:18Remember this, that the enemie hath reproached, O Lord, and that the foolish people haue blasphemed thy Name.
74:19O deliuer not the soule of thy turtle doue vnto the multitude of the wicked forget not the Congregation of thy poore for euer.
74:20Haue respect vnto the couenant: for the darke places of the earth are full of the habitations of crueltie.
74:21O let not the oppressed returne ashamed: let the poore and needie praise thy name.
74:22Arise, O God, plead thine owne cause: remember how the foolish man reprocheth thee daily.
74:23Forget not the voyce of thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise vp against thee, increaseth continually.

74:1A Psalme to give instruction, committed to Asaph. O God, why hast thou put vs away for euer? why is thy wrath kindled against the sheepe of thy pasture?
74:2Thinke vpon thy Congregation, which thou hast possessed of olde, and on the rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed, and on this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.
74:3Lift vp thy strokes, that thou mayest for euer destroy euery enemie that doeth euill to the Sanctuarie.
74:4Thine aduersaries roare in the middes of thy Congregation, and set vp their banners for signes.
74:5He that lifted the axes vpon the thicke trees, was renowmed, as one, that brought a thing to perfection:
74:6But nowe they breake downe the carued worke thereof with axes and hammers.
74:7They haue cast thy Sanctuarie into the fire, and rased it to the grounde, and haue defiled the dwelling place of thy Name.
74:8They saide in their hearts, Let vs destroy them altogether: they haue burnt all the Synagogues of God in the land.
74:9We see not our signes: there is not one Prophet more, nor any with vs that knoweth howe long.
74:10O God, howe long shall the aduersarie reproche thee? shall the enemie blaspheme thy Name for euer?
74:11Why withdrawest thou thine hand, euen thy right hand? drawe it out of thy bosome, and consume them.
74:12Euen God is my King of olde, working saluation in the middes of the earth.
74:13Thou didest deuide the sea by thy power: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.
74:14Thou brakest the head of Liuiathan in pieces, and gauest him to be meate for the people in wildernesse.
74:15Thou brakest vp the fountaine and riuer: thou dryedst vp mightie riuers.
74:16The day is thine, and the night is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sunne.
74:17Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter.
74:18Remember this, that the enemie hath reproched the Lord, and the foolish people hath blasphemed thy Name.
74:19Giue not the soule of thy turtle doue vnto the beast, and forget not the Congregation of thy poore for euer.
74:20Consider thy couenant: for the darke places of the earth are full of the habitations of the cruell.
74:21Oh let not the oppressed returne ashamed, but let the poore and needie prayse thy Name.
74:22Arise, O God: mainteine thine owne cause: remember thy dayly reproche by the foolish man.
74:23Forget not the voyce of thine enemies: for the tumult of them, that rise against thee, ascendeth continually.

74:1An instruccyon of Asaph. O God, werfore art thou absent from vs so long? why is thy wrath so hote agaynst the shepe of thy pasture?
74:2O thynke vpon thy congregacyon, whom thou hast purchased and redemed of olde:
74:3Thinke vpon the trybe of thine enheritaunce and mout Sion wherin thou hast dwelt.
74:4Lyft vp thy fete, that thou mayest vtterly destroye euery enemye which hath done euell in the Sanctuary.
74:5Thyne aduersaryes roare in the myddes of thy congregacions, and set vp their banners for tokens.
74:6He that hewed tymbre afore out of the thick trees, was knowne to brynge it to an excellent worke.
74:7But now they breake downe all the earned worcke therof wt axes & hammers.
74:8They haue set fyre vpon thy holy places, and haue defyled the dwellynge place of thy name, euen vnto the grounde.
74:9Yee, they sayed in their hertes: let vs make hauoke of them alltogether: thus haue they brent vp all the houses of God in the lande.
74:10We se not oure tokens, ther is not one Prophet more, no not one is ther among vs that vnderstandeth eny more.
74:11O God, how long shall the aduersary do this dishonoure? how longe shal the enemy blaspheme thy name? For euer?
74:12Why withdrawest thou thine hand? why pluckest thou not thy right hande out of thy bosome, to consume the enemye?
74:13For God is my kynge of olde: the helpe that is done vpon earth, he doth it him selfe.
74:14Thou dyddest deuyde the see thorowe thy power, thou brakest the heades of the dragons in the waters.
74:15Thou smotest the heades of Leuiathan in peces, and geuest him to be meate for the people in the wyldernesse.
74:16Thou broughtest out fountaynes and waters out of the harde rockes: thou dryedst vp myghtye waters.
74:17The daye is thine, & the nyght is thyne: thou hast prepared the lyght and the sonne.
74:18Thou hast sett all the borders of the earth, thou hast made sommer and wynter.
74:19Remembre this, O Lord, how the enemie hath rebuked, and how the folysh people hath blasphemed thy name.
74:20O delyuer not the soule of thy turtle doue vnto the multitude of the enemies: and forget not the congregacyon of the poore for euer.
74:21Loke vpon the couenaunt, for all the earth is full of darknes, and cruell habitacions.
74:22O let not the symple go awaye ashamed, but let the poore and nedy geue prayse vnto thy name.
74:23Aryse, O God, maynteyne thine awne cause: remembre how the folyshe man blasphemeth the dayly. Forget not the voyce of thine enemyes: the presumpcyon of them that hate the increaseth euermore and more.
