Psalms - Chapter: 76

76:1To the chaunter, in melodyes, a Psalme, & songe of Asaph. In Iewrye is God knowne, his name is greate in Israel.
76:2At Schalem is his tabernacle, and his dwellyng in Sion.
76:3There brake he the arowes of the bowe, the shylde, the swerde, and the battayle. Sela.
76:4Thou art of more honour and myght then the hylles of robbers.
76:5The proude are robbed: they haue slepte their slepe: and all the men (whose handes were myghtie) haue found nothinge.
76:6At thy rebuke (O God of Iacob) both the charet and horse is fallen.
76:7Thou, euen thou art to be feared: and who may stande in thy syght, when thou art angrye.
76:8Thou dyddest cause thy iudgement to be herde from heauen, the erth trembled and was styll.
76:9When God arose to iudgement, & to helpe all the meke vpon earth. Sela.
76:10The fearcenesse of man shall turne to thy prayse: and the fearcenesse of other shalt thou refrayne.
76:11Promyse vnto the Lorde youre God, & kepe it, all ye that be rounde about hym: bryng presentes vnto hym that ought to be feared.
76:12He shall refrayne the sprete of Prynces, and is wonderfull amonge the kynges of the earth.

 

76:1The `title of the sixte and seuentithe salm. `To the ouercomere on Yditum, `the salm of Asaph.
76:2With my vois Y criede to the Lord; with my vois to God, and he yaf tent to me.
76:3In the dai of my tribulacioun Y souyte God with myn hondis; in the nyyt `to fore hym, and Y am not disseyued. Mi soule forsook to be coumfortid;
76:4Y was myndeful of God, and Y delitide, and Y was exercisid; and my spirit failide.
76:5Myn iyen bifore took wakyngis; Y was disturblid, and Y spak not.
76:6I thouyte elde daies; and Y hadde in mynde euerlastinge yeeris.
76:7And Y thouyte in the nyyt with myn herte; and Y was exercisid, and Y clensid my spirit.
76:8Whether God schal caste awei with outen ende; ether schal he not lei to, that he be more plesid yit?
76:9Ethir schal he kitte awei his merci into the ende; fro generacioun in to generacioun?
76:10Ethir schal God foryete to do mercy; ethir schal he withholde his mercies in his ire?
76:11And Y seide, Now Y bigan; this is the chaunging of the riythond of `the hiye God.
76:12I hadde mynde on the werkis of the Lord; for Y schal haue mynde fro the bigynnyng of thi merueilis.

76:4Sela. Thou art of more honoure & might the the hilles of robbers.
76:5The proude shalbe robbed & slepe their slepe, & ye mightie shalbe able to do nothinge with their hodes.
76:6Whe thou rebukest them (o God of Iacob) both the charettes & horsmen shal fall on slepe.
76:7Thou art feareful, for who maye abyde in yi sight, when thou art angrie?
76:8When thou lattest thy iudgment be herde from heauen, the erth trembleth & is still.
76:9Yee when God aryseth to geue iudgment, & to helpe all them that be in aduersite vpon earth.
76:10Sela. When thou punyshest one man, he must knowlege, that thou art redy to punysh other mo.
76:11Loke what ye promyse vnto the LORDE youre God, se that kepe it, all ye that be roude aboute him: brynge presentes vnto him yt ought to be feared.
76:12Which taketh awaye the breth of prynces, & is wonderfull amoge the kynges of the earth.
