137:1The `title of the hundrid and seuene and thrittithe salm. `To Dauith him silf. Lord, Y schal knouleche to thee in al myn herte; for thou herdist the wordis of my mouth. Mi God, Y schal singe to thee in the siyt of aungels;
137:2Y schal worschipe to thin hooli temple, and Y schal knouleche to thi name. On thi merci and thi treuthe; for thou hast magnefied thin hooli name aboue al thing.
137:3In what euere dai Y schal inwardli clepe thee, here thou me; thou schalt multipli vertu in my soule.
137:4Lord, alle the kingis of erthe knouleche to thee; for thei herden alle the wordis of thi mouth.
137:5And singe thei in the weies of the Lord; for the glorie of the Lord is greet.
137:6For the Lord is hiy, and biholdith meke thingis; and knowith afer hiy thingis.
137:7If Y schal go in the myddil of tribulacioun, thou schalt quikene me; and thou stretchidist forth thin hond on the ire of myn enemyes, and thi riyt hond made me saaf.
137:8The Lord schal yelde for me, Lord, thi merci is with outen ende; dispise thou not the werkis of thin hondis.

137:1By the riuers of Babel we sate, and there wee wept, when we remembred Zion.
137:2Wee hanged our harpes vpon the willowes in the middes thereof.
137:3Then they that ledde vs captiues, required of vs songs and mirth, when wee had hanged vp our harpes, saying, Sing vs one of the songs of Zion.
137:4Howe shall we sing, said we, a song of the Lord in a strange land?
137:5If I forget thee, O Ierusalem, let my right hand forget to play.
137:6If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleaue to the roofe of my mouth: yea, if I preferre not Ierusalem to my chiefe ioy.
137:7Remember the children of Edom, O Lord, in the day of Ierusalem, which saide, Rase it, rase it to the foundation thereof.
137:8O daughter of Babel, worthy to be destroyed, blessed shall he be that rewardeth thee, as thou hast serued vs.
137:9Blessed shall he be that taketh and dasheth thy children against the stones.
