Psalms - Chapter: 140

140:1[To the chiefe Musician, A Psalme of Dauid.] Deliuer me, O Lord, from the euill man: preserue me from the violent man.
140:2Which imagine mischiefes in their heart: continually are they gathered together for warre.
140:3They haue sharpned their tongues like a serpent: adders poison is vnder their lips. Selah.
140:4Keepe me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked, preserue me from the violent man: who haue purposed to ouerthrow my goings.
140:5The proude haue hid a snare for me and cords, they haue spread a net by the way side: they haue set grinnes for me. Selah.
140:6I said vnto the Lord, Thou art my God: heare the voyce of my supplications, O Lord.
140:7O God the Lord, the strength of my saluation: thou hast couered my head in the day of battell.
140:8Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked deuice, lest they exalt themselues. Selah.
140:9As for the head of those that compasse me about: let the mischiefe of their owne lips couer them.
140:10Let burning coales fall vpon them, let them be cast into the fire: into deepe pits, that they rise not vp againe.
140:11Let not an euill speaker bee established in the earth: euill shall hunt the violent man to ouerthrow him.
140:12I know that the Lord will maintaine the cause of the afflicted: and the right of the poore.
140:13Surely the righteous shall giue thankes vnto thy Name: the vpright shall dwell in thy presence.

 

140:1Delyuer me O God from the euyll man: and preserue me from the outragious man
140:2Who in heart imagine mischiefes: and set forwarde to warre euery day
140:3They haue sharpened their tongue lyke a serpent: Adders poyson is vnder their lippes. Selah
140:4Kepe me O God from the handes of the vngodly: preserue me from the outragious man, who haue deuised to thrust my feete [from me.
140:5The proude haue layde a snare for me, and spread a net abroade with coardes in the high wayes: they haue set trappes for me. Selah
140:6I haue sayde vnto God, thou art my Lorde: heare the voyce of my prayers O God
140:7O Lorde God the strength of my saluation: thou hast couered my head in the day of battayle
140:8Graunt not vnto the vngodly his desires O God: bryng not to passe his mischeuous imagination lest they shoulde be made to proude. Selah
140:9Let the labour of his owne lippe couer him: who is head of them that compasse me about
140:10Let hotte coales be burnyng vpon them: he wyll cast them downe into the fire into deepe pittes, that they may neuer rise vp agayne
140:11A man full of tongue can not prosper vpon the earth: euyll shall hunt the outragious person to ouerthrowe him
140:12I am sure that God wyll dispatche the cause of the afflicted: and he wyll geue iudgement for the needy
140:13Truely the ryghteous wyll confesse it vnto thy name: they that deale vprightlye shall dwell before thy face

 

140:1To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David. Deliuer me, O Lord, from the euill man: preserue me from the cruel man:
140:2Which imagine euill things in their heart, and make warre continually.
140:3They haue sharpened their tongues like a serpent: adders poyson is vnder their lips. Selah.
140:4Keepe mee, O Lord, from the handes of the wicked: preserue mee from the cruell man, which purposeth to cause my steppes to slide.
140:5The proude haue layde a snare for me, and spred a nette with cordes in my pathway, and set grennes for me. Selah.
140:6Therefore I saide vnto the Lord, Thou art my God: heare, O Lord, the voyce of my prayers.
140:7O Lord God the strength of my saluation, thou hast couered mine head in the day of battel.
140:8Let not the wicked haue his desire, O Lord: performe not his wicked thought, least they be proude. Selah.
140:9As for the chiefe of them, that compasse me about, let the mischiefe of their owne lippes come vpon them.
140:10Let coles fal vpon them: let him cast them into the fire, and into the deepe pits, that they rise not.
140:11For the backbiter shall not be established vpon the earth: euill shall hunt the cruell man to destruction.
140:12I know that the Lord will auenge the afflicted, and iudge the poore.
140:13Surely the righteous shall prayse thy Name, and the iust shall dwell in thy presence.
