Proverbs - Chapter: 5

>
5:1My sonne, geue hede vnto my wysdome, and bowe thyne eare vnto my prudence:
5:2that thou mayest regarde good councel, and that thy lippes maye kepe knowledge
5:3For the lyppes of an harlot are a droppyng hony combe and her throte is more glisterynge them oyle.
5:4But at the last she is as bytter as wormwod, and as sharpe as a two edged swerde.
5:5Her fete go downe vnto death and her steppes pearse thorowe vnto hell.
5:6Parchaunse thou dwellynge with her wylt ponder the path of lyfe? so vnstedfast are her wayes, that thou canst not knowe them.
5:7Heare me nowe therfore (O my sonnes) & departe not from the wordes of my mouth.
5:8Kepe thy waye farre from her, and come not nye the dores of her house.
5:9That thou geue not thy strength vnto other, & thy yeares to the cruell.
5:10That other men be not fylled with thy goodes, and that thy laboures come not in a straunge house.
5:11Yee that thou mourne not at the last (when thou hast spent thy body and lusty greane youth)
5:12and then saye: Alas, why hated I nourtoure: why did my herte despise correccion?
5:13Wherfore was not I obedient vnto the voyce of my teachers, and herkened not vnto them that infourmed me?
5:14I am come almost into all misfortune, in the myddest of the multitude and congregacion.
5:15Drincke of the water, of thyne awne well and of the ryuers that runne out of thyne awne springes.
5:16Let thy welles flowe out abroade, that there may he ryuers of water in the stretes:
5:17but let them be onely thyne awne, and not straungers with the.
5:18Let thy well be blessed and be glad with the wyfe of thy youth.
5:19Louinge is the hynde, and frendly is the Roo: let her brestes alwaye satisfye the, and holde the euer content with her loue.
5:20My sonne, why wylt thou haue pleasure in an harlot, & embrace the bosome, of another woman?
5:21For euery mans wayes are open in the syght of the Lorde, and he pondreth all theyr goynges.
5:22The wyckednesse of the vngodly shall catch hymselfe, and with the snares of hys awne synnes shall he be trapped.
5:23He shall dye without amendement, and for hys greate folyshnesse he shall go astraye.

5:3for the lippis of an hoore ben an hony coomb droppinge, and hir throte is clerere than oile;
5:4but the last thingis ben bittir as wormod, and hir tunge is scharp as a swerd keruynge on ech side.
5:5Hir feet gon doun in to deeth; and hir steppis persen to hellis.
5:6Tho goon not bi the path of lijf; hir steppis ben vncerteyn, and moun not be souyt out.
5:7Now therfor, my sone, here thou me, and go not awei fro the wordis of my mouth.
5:8Make fer thi weie fro hir, and neiye thou not to the doris of hir hous.
5:9Yyue thou not thin onour to aliens, and thi yeeris to the cruel;
5:10lest perauenture straungeris be fillid with thi strengthis, and lest thi trauels be in an alien hous;
5:11and thou biweile in the laste daies, whanne thou hast wastid thi fleschis, and thi bodi; and thou seie,
5:12Whi wlatide Y teching, and myn herte assentide not to blamyngis;
5:13nether Y herde the voys of men techinge me, and Y bowide not doun myn eere to maistris?
5:14Almest Y was in al yuel, in the myddis of the chirche, and of the synagoge.
5:15Drinke thou watir of thi cisterne, and the floodis of thi pit.
5:16Thi wellis be stremed forth; and departe thi watris in stretis.
5:17Haue thou aloone `tho watris; and aliens be not thi parceneris.
5:18Thi veyne be blessid; and be thou glad with the womman of thi yong wexynge age.
5:19An hynde moost dereworthe; and an hert calf moost acceptable. Hir teetis fille thee in al tyme; and delite thou contynueli in the loue of hir.
5:20Mi sone, whi art thou disseyued of an alien womman; and art fostrid in the bosum of an othere?
5:21The Lord seeth the weie of a man; and biholdith alle hise steppis.
5:22The wickidnessis of a wyckid man taken hym; and he is boundun with the roopis of hise synnes.
5:23He schal die, for he hadde not lernyng; and he schal be disseyued in the mychilnesse of his fooli.

5:6She regardeth not the path of life, so vnstedfast are hir wayes, that thou canst not knowe them.
5:7Heare me therfore (o my sonne) and departe not fro the wordes of my mouth.
5:8Kepe thy waye farre from her, and come not nye ye dores of hir house.
5:9That thou geue not thine honor vnto another, and thy yeares to the cruell.
5:10That other men be not fylled with thy goodes, & that thy labours come not in a straunge house.
5:11Yee that thou mourne not at the last (when thou hast spent thy body and goodes)
5:12and then saye: Alas, why hated I nurtoure? why dyd my hert despyse correccion?

5:21For euery mas wayes are open in the sight of the LORDE, and he podereth all their goinges.
5:22The wickednesses of the vngodly shal catch himself, and with the snares of his owne synnes shal he be trapped.
5:23Because he wolde not be refourmed, he shal dye: and for his greate foolishnesse he shal be destroyed.
