Proverbs - Chapter: 25


25:1	These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
25:2	It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
25:3	The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
25:4	Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.
25:5	Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
25:6	Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
25:7	For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.
25:8	Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
25:9	Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:
25:10	Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.
25:11	A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
25:12	As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
25:13	As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
25:14	Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
25:15	By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
25:16	Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
25:17	Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
25:18	A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
25:19	Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
25:20	As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
25:21	If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
25:22	For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
25:23	The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.
25:24	It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.
25:25	As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
25:26	A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
25:27	It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
25:28	He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.


25:1	גם אלה משׁלי שׁלמה אשׁר העתיקו אנשׁי חזקיה מלך יהודה׃
25:2	כבד אלהים הסתר דבר וכבד מלכים חקר דבר׃
25:3	שׁמים לרום וארץ לעמק ולב מלכים אין חקר׃
25:4	הגו סיגים מכסף ויצא לצרף כלי׃
25:5	הגו רשׁע לפני מלך ויכון בצדק כסאו׃
25:6	אל תתהדר לפני מלך ובמקום גדלים אל תעמד׃
25:7	כי טוב אמר לך עלה הנה מהשׁפילך לפני נדיב אשׁר ראו עיניך׃
25:8	אל תצא לרב מהר פן מה תעשׂה באחריתה בהכלים אתך רעך׃
25:9	ריבך ריב את רעך וסוד אחר אל תגל׃
25:10	פן יחסדך שׁמע ודבתך לא תשׁוב׃
25:11	תפוחי זהב במשׂכיות כסף דבר דבר על אפניו׃
25:12	נזם זהב וחלי כתם מוכיח חכם על אזן שׁמעת׃
25:13	כצנת שׁלג ביום קציר ציר נאמן לשׁלחיו ונפשׁ אדניו ישׁיב׃
25:14	נשׂיאים ורוח וגשׁם אין אישׁ מתהלל במתת שׁקר׃
25:15	בארך אפים יפתה קצין ולשׁון רכה תשׁבר גרם׃
25:16	דבשׁ מצאת אכל דיך פן תשׂבענו והקאתו׃
25:17	הקר רגלך מבית רעך פן ישׂבעך ושׂנאך׃
25:18	מפיץ וחרב וחץ שׁנון אישׁ ענה ברעהו עד שׁקר׃
25:19	שׁן רעה ורגל מועדת מבטח בוגד ביום צרה׃
25:20	מעדה בגד ביום קרה חמץ על נתר ושׁר בשׁרים על לב רע׃
25:21	אם רעב שׂנאך האכלהו לחם ואם צמא השׁקהו מים׃
25:22	כי גחלים אתה חתה על ראשׁו ויהוה ישׁלם׃
25:23	רוח צפון תחולל גשׁם ופנים נזעמים לשׁון סתר׃
25:24	טוב שׁבת על פנת גג מאשׁת מדונים ובית חבר׃
25:25	מים קרים על נפשׁ עיפה ושׁמועה טובה מארץ מרחק׃
25:26	מעין נרפשׂ ומקור משׁחת צדיק מט לפני רשׁע׃
25:27	אכל דבשׁ הרבות לא טוב וחקר כבדם כבוד׃
25:28	עיר פרוצה אין חומה אישׁ אשׁר אין מעצר לרוחו׃


25:1	Also these are Proverbs of Solomon, that men of Hezekiah king of Judah transcribed: --
25:2	The honour of God `is' to hide a thing, And the honour of kings to search out a matter.
25:3	The heavens for height, and the earth for depth, And the heart of kings -- `are' unsearchable.
25:4	Take away dross from silver, And a vessel for the refiner goeth forth,
25:5	Take away the wicked before a king, And established in righteousness is his throne.
25:6	Honour not thyself before a king, And in the place of the great stand not.
25:7	For better `that' he hath said to thee, `Come thou up hither,' Than `that' he humble thee before a noble, Whom thine eyes have seen.
25:8	Go not forth to strive, haste, turn, What dost thou in its latter end, When thy neighbour causeth thee to blush?
25:9	Thy cause plead with thy neighbour, And the secret counsel of another reveal not,
25:10	Lest the hearer put thee to shame, And thine evil report turn not back.
25:11	Apples of gold in imagery of silver, `Is' the word spoken at its fit times.
25:12	A ring of gold, and an ornament of pure gold, `Is' the wise reprover to an attentive ear.
25:13	As a vessel of snow in a day of harvest, `So is' a faithful ambassador to those sending him, And the soul of his masters he refresheth.
25:14	Clouds and wind, and rain there is none, `Is' a man boasting himself in a false gift.
25:15	By long-suffering is a ruler persuaded, And a soft tongue breaketh a bone.
25:16	Honey thou hast found -- eat thy sufficiency, Lest thou be satiated `with' it, and hast vomited it.
25:17	Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house, Lest he be satiated `with' thee, and have hated thee.
25:18	A maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow, `Is' the man testifying against his neighbour a false testimony.
25:19	A bad tooth, and a tottering foot, `Is' the confidence of the treacherous in a day of adversity.
25:20	Whoso is taking away a garment in a cold day, `Is as' vinegar on nitre, And a singer of songs on a sad heart.
25:21	If he who is hating thee doth hunger, cause him to eat bread, And if he thirst, cause him to drink water.
25:22	For coals thou art putting on his head, And Jehovah giveth recompense to thee.
25:23	A north wind bringeth forth rain, And a secret tongue -- indignant faces.
25:24	Better to sit on a corner of a roof, Than `with' a woman of contentions, and a house of company.
25:25	`As' cold waters for a weary soul, So `is' a good report from a far country.
25:26	A spring troubled, and a fountain corrupt, `Is' the righteous falling before the wicked.
25:27	The eating of much honey is not good, Nor a searching out of one's own honour -- honour.
25:28	A city broken down without walls, `Is' a man without restraint over his spirit!
