Ecclesiastes - Chapter: 8

>
8:1Who is as the Wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a mans wisedome maketh his face to shine, and the boldnes of his face shalbe changed.
8:2I counsell thee, to keepe the kings commandement, and that in regard of the oath of God.
8:3Bee not hastie to goe out of his sight: stand not in an euill thing, for he doeth whatsoeuer pleaseth him.
8:4Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say vnto him, What doest thou?
8:5Whoso keepeth the commandement, shall feele no euill thing: and a wise mans heart discerneth both time and iudgement.
8:6Because to euery purpose there is time, and iudgement; therefore the misery of man is great vpon him.
8:7For hee knoweth not that which shall be: for who can tell him, when it shall be?
8:8There is no man that hath power ouer the spirit to retaine the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that warre, neither shall wickednesse deliuer those that are giuen to it.
8:9All this haue I seene, and applied my heart vnto euery worke that is done vnder the Sunne: there is a time wherein one man ruleth ouer another to his owne hurt.
8:10And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come, and gone from the place of the Holy, and they were forgotten in the city, where they had so done: this is also vanitie.
8:11Because sentence against an euill worke is not executed speedily; therefore the heart of the sonnes of men is fully set in them to doe euill.
8:12Though a sinner doe euill an hundred times, and his dayes be prolonged; yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that feare God, which feare before him.
8:13But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall hee prolong his dayes which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.
8:14There is a vanitie which is done vpon the earth, that there be iust men vnto whom it happeneth according to the worke of the wicked: againe, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the worke of the righteous: I said, that this also is vanitie.
8:15Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing vnder the Sunne, then to eate and to drinke, and to be merrie: for that shall abide with him of his labour, the dayes of his life, which God giueth him vnder the Sunne.
8:16When I applied mine heart to know wisedome, and to see the busines that is done vpon the earth: (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleepe with his eyes.)
8:17Then I behelde all the worke of God, that a man cannot finde out the worke that is done vnder the Sunne: because though a man labour to seeke it out, yea further though a wise man thinke to know it, yet shall hee not be able to finde it.

8:1Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? the wisedome of a man doth make his face to shine: and the strength of his face shalbe changed.
8:2I aduertise thee to take heede to ye mouth of the King, and to the worde of the othe of God.
8:3Haste not to goe forth of his sight: stand not in an euill thing: for he will doe whatsoeuer pleaseth him.
8:4Where the word of ye King is, there is power, and who shall say vnto him, What doest thou?
8:5He that keepeth the commandement, shall knowe none euill thing, and the heart of the wise shall knowe the time and iudgement.
8:6For to euery purpose there is a time and iudgement, because the miserie of man is great vpon him.
8:7For he knoweth not that which shalbe: for who can tell him when it shalbe?
8:8Man is not lorde ouer the spirit to retaine the spirite: neither hath hee power in the day of death, nor deliuerance in the battell, neither shall wickednesse deliuer the possessers thereof.
8:9All this haue I seene, and haue giuen mine heart to euery worke, which is wrought vnder the sunne, and I sawe a time that man ruleth ouer man to his owne hurt.
8:10And likewise I sawe the wicked buried, and they returned, and they that came from the holy place, were yet forgotten in the citie where they had done right: this also is vanitie.
8:11Because sentence against an euill worke is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the children of men is fully set in them to doe euill.
8:12Though a sinner doe euill an hundreth times, and God prolongeth his dayes, yet I knowe that it shalbe well with them that feare the Lord, and doe reuerence before him.
8:13But it shall not be well to the wicked, neither shall he prolong his dayes: he shall be like a shadowe, because he feareth not before God.
8:14There is a vanitie, which is done vpon the earth, that there be righteous men to whom it commeth according to the worke of the wicked: and there be wicked men to whom it commeth according to the worke of the iust: I thought also that this is vanitie.
8:15And I praysed ioy: for there is no goodnesse to man vnder the sunne, saue to eate and to drinke and to reioyce: for this is adioyned to his labour, the dayes of his life that God hath giuen him vnder the sunne.
8:16When I applied mine heart to knowe wisedome, and to behold the busines that is done on earth, that neither day nor night the eyes of man take sleepe,
8:17Then I behelde the whole worke of God, that man cannot finde out ye worke that is wrought vnder the sunne: for the which man laboureth to seeke it, and cannot finde it: yea, and though the wise man thinke to knowe it, he cannot finde it.

8:1Who is wyse? Who hath knowledge to make answere? A mans wysdome maketh hys face to shine: but vnshamefastnes putteth it out of fauoure.
8:2I must kepe the kynges commaundement, and the oth that I haue made vnto God.
8:3Be not hastye to go out of hys syght, and se thou continue in no euell thinge: for whatsoeuer it pleaseth hym, that doeth he.
8:4Lyke as when a kynge geueth a charge, his commaundement is myghtye: Euen so who maye saye vnto him: what doest thou?
8:5Who so kepeth the commaundement: shall fele no harme: but a wyse mans herte discerneth the tyme & iudgement:
8:6For euery thing will haue oportunite & iudgement, and this is the thynge that maketh men full of carefulnes and sorowe.
8:7And why? a man knoweth not what is for to come: for who wyll tell him?
8:8Nether is there eny man that hath power ouer the sprete, to kepe styll the sprete, ner to haue eny power in the tyme of death: is it not he also that can make an ende of the battayle, nether maye vngodlynes deliuer them that medle with all.
8:9All these thinges haue I considered, and applied my mynde vnto euery worcke that is vnder the sonne: howe one man hath lordshype vpon another to his awne harme.
8:10For I haue seane often the vngodly brought to ther graues: and yet they haue retorned into the citye ageyne, and came from the place of holy men, which in the citye were growen out of memory as were those also that lyued well. Thys is also a vayne thynge.
8:11Because now that euell worckes are not hastely punysshed, the hert of man geueth hym selfe ouer vnto wyckednesse.
8:12But though an euell persone offende an hundred tymes, & God differ gyuinge him longe lyfe: yet am I sure, that it shal go well wt them that feare God, because they haue him before their eyes.
8:13Agayne, as for the vngodly it shall not be well wt him, nether shall he prolonge his dayes: but euen as a shadowe, so shall he be that feareth not God.
8:14Yet is there a vanyte vpon earth: There be iust men, vnto whom it happeneth, as though they had the worckes of the vngodly: Agayne, there be vngodly, with whom it goeth as though they had the workes of the ryghteous. Thys haue I called also a vayne thyng.
8:15Therfore I commende gladnesse, because a man hath no better thing vnder the Sunne, then to eate and dryncke, & to be mery: for that shall he haue of his labour all the dayes of his lyfe, which God geueth him vnder the sunne.
8:16And so I applied my mynde to learne wysdome, & to knowe the trauayle that is in the worlde (and that of soch a fassyon, that I suffred not myne eyes to slepe nether daye ner nyght)
8:17I vnderstode of all the workes of God, but it is not possible for a man, to attayne vnto the workes that are done vnder the Sunne: and though he bestowe his laboure to seke them out, yet can he not reach vnto them: yee though a wyse man wolde vntertake to knowe them, yet shall he not fynde them.
