Isaiah - Chapter: 24

>
24:1Behold, the Lord maketh the earth emptie, and maketh it waste, and turneth it vpside downe, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.
24:2And it shall be as with the people, so with the priest, as with the seruant, so with his master, as with the maid, so with her mistresse, as with the buyer, so with the seller, as with the lender, so with the borower, as with the taker of vsurie, so with the giuer of vsurie to him.
24:3The land shall be vtterly emptied, and vtterly spoiled: for the Lord hath spoken this word.
24:4The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughtie people of the earth doe languish.
24:5The earth also is defiled vnder the inhabitants thereof: because they haue transgressed the lawes, changed the ordinance, broken the euerlasting couenant.
24:6Therefore hath the curse deuoured the earth, and they that dwell therin are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
24:7The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merrie hearted doe sigh.
24:8The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that reioyce, endeth, the ioy of the harpe ceaseth.
24:9They shall not drinke wine with a song, strong drinke shall bee bitter to them that drinke it.
24:10The city of confusion is broken downe: euery house is shut vp, that no man may come in.
24:11There is a crying for wine in the streets, all ioy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.
24:12In the citie is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.
24:13When thus it shalbe in the midst of the land among the people: there shall be as the shaking of an oliue tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.
24:14They shal lift vp their voice, they shal sing, for the maiesty of the Lord, they shall crie aloud from the sea.
24:15Wherefore, glorifie ye the Lord in the fires, euen the Name of the Lord God of Israel in the yles of the Sea.
24:16From the vttermost part of the earth haue we heard songs, euen glory to the righteous: but I said, My leannesse, my leannesse, woe vnto me: the treacherous dealers haue dealt treacherously, yea the treacherous dealers haue dealt very treacherously.
24:17Feare, and the pit, & the snare are vpon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.
24:18And it shall come to passe, that he who fleeth from the noise of the feare, shall fall into the pit; and he that commeth vp out of the midst of the pit, shalbe taken in the snare: for the windowes from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth doe shake.
24:19The earth is vtterly broken downe, the earth is cleane dissolued, the earth is moued exceedingly.
24:20The earth shall reele to and fro, like a drunkard, and shall be remooued like a cottage, and the transgression thereof shall be heauie vpon it, and it shall fall, and not rise againe.
24:21And it shall come to passe in that day, that the Lord shall punish the hoste of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth vpon the earth.
24:22And they shalbe gathered together as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut vp in the prison, and after many dayes shall they bee visited.
24:23Then the Moone shall be confounded, and the Sunne ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reigne in mount Zion and in Ierusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

24:1Beholde, the Lord maketh the earth waste and emptie, he turneth it vpside downe, and scattereth abrode the inhabitours therof
24:2And the priest shalbe as the people, and the maister as the seruaunt, the mistresse lyke the mayde, the seller lyke the byer, he that lendeth vpon vsurie, like him that boroweth vpon vsurie, the creditour as the dettour
24:3The lande shalbe cleane wasted and vtterly spoyled: for so the Lorde hath spoken
24:4The earth is sory and consumeth away, the worlde is feeble & perisheth, the proude people of the earth are come to naught
24:5The earth also is become vnprofitable vnder the inhabitours therof, which haue transgressed the lawes, chaunged the ordinaunce, broken the euerlastyng couenaunt
24:6Therfore hath the curse consumed the earth, and they that dwell therin are fallen into trespasse: Wherfore the inhabitours of the earth are perished with drought, and fewe men are left behinde
24:7The wine fayleth, the vine hath no myght, all they that haue ben mery of heart are come to mournyng
24:8The myrth of tabrettes is layde downe, the noyse of such as haue made mery is ceassed, the ioy at the harpe is at an ende
24:9They shall drynke no more wine with mirth, strong drynke shalbe bytter to them that drinke it
24:10The citie of vanitie is broken downe, euery house is shut vp, that no man may come in
24:11In the streetes is there a crying because of wine, all cheare is vanished away, the myrth of the lande is gone
24:12In the citie is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction
24:13For in the middes of the lande, euen among the people, it shall come to passe as at the shaking of oliues, and as the grapes are when the wine haruest is done
24:14They shall lift vp their voyce, and make a merie noyse: and in magnifiyng of the Lorde shall they crye out of the west
24:15Wherefore prayse ye the Lorde in the valleys, euen the name of the Lorde God of Israel in the Iles of the sea
24:16From the vttermost part of the earth haue we hearde prayses and myrth, because of the righteous: And I sayde, I knowe a thing in secrete, I knowe a thing in secrete, wo is me: the transgressours haue offended, the transgressours haue greeuously offended
24:17Fearefulnesse, the pit, and the snare are vpon thee, O thou that dwellest on the earth
24:18It wyll come to passe, that whosoeuer escapeth the fearefull noyse, shall fall into the pit, and he that commeth vp out of the pit, shalbe taken with the snare: for the windowes from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth are moued
24:19The earth is vtterly broken downe, the earth hath a sore ruine, the earth quaketh exceedingly
24:20The earth shall reele to and fro like a drunkarde, and shalbe remoued lyke a tent, and the iniquitie thereof shalbe heauie vpon it, it shall fall, and not rise vp agayne
24:21And in that day shall the Lorde visite the hoast aboue that is on hye, and the kynges of the worlde that are vpon the earth
24:22And they shalbe gathered together as they that be in pryson, and they shalbe shut vp in warde, and after many dayes shall they be visited
24:23The moone shalbe abashed, and the sunne ashamed, when the Lorde of hoastes shal raigne in mount Sion and in Hierusalem with worship, and in the sight of suche as shalbe of his counsell

24:1Behold, the Lord maketh the earth emptie, and hee maketh it waste: hee turneth it vpside downe, and scattereth abrode the inhabitants thereof.
24:2And there shalbe like people, like Priest, and like seruaunt, like master, like maide, like mistresse, like bier, like seller, like lender, like borower, like giuer, like taker to vsurie.
24:3The earth shalbe cleane emptied, and vtterly spoiled: for the Lord hath spoken this worde.
24:4The earth lamenteth and fadeth away: the world is feeble and decaied: the proude people of the earth are weakened.
24:5The earth also deceiueth, because of the inhabitantes thereof: for they transgressed the lawes: they changed the ordinances, and brake the euerlasting couenant.
24:6Therefore hath the curse deuoured the earth, and the inhabitantes thereof are desolate. Wherefore the inhabitants of the land are burned vp, and fewe men are left.
24:7The wine faileth, the vine hath no might: all that were of merie heart, doe mourne.
24:8The mirth of tabrets ceaseth: the noyse of them that reioyce, endeth: the ioye of the harpe ceaseth.
24:9They shall not drinke wine with mirth: strong drinke shall be bitter to them that drinke it.
24:10The citie of vanitie is broken downe: euery house is shut vp, that no man may come in.
24:11There is a crying for wine in the streetes: al ioy is darkened: the mirth of the world is gone away.
24:12In the citie is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.
24:13Surely thus shall it bee in the middes of the earth, among the people, as the shaking of an oliue tree, and as the grapes when the vintage is ended.
24:14They shall lift vp their voyce: they shall shout for the magnificence of the Lord: they shall reioyce from the sea.
24:15Wherefore praise yee the Lord in the valleis, euen the Name of the Lord God of Israel, in the yles of the sea.
24:16From the vttermost part of the earth wee haue heard praises, euen glory to the iust, and I sayd, My leanesse, my leanesse, woe is mee: the transgressours haue offended: yea, the transgressours haue grieuously offended.
24:17Feare, and the pitte, and the snare are vpon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.
24:18And hee that fleeth from the noyse of the feare, shall fall into the pit: and he that commeth vp out of the pit, shall be taken in the snare: for the windowes from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth doe shake.
24:19The earth is vtterly broken downe: the earth is cleane dissolued: the earth is mooued exceedingly.
24:20The earth shall reele to and from like a drunken man, and shall be remooued like a tent, and the iniquitie thereof shall be heauie vpon it: so that it shall fall, and rise no more.
24:21And in that day shall the Lord visite the hoste aboue that is on hie, euen the Kinges of the world that are vpon the earth.
24:22And they shall be gathered together, as the prisoners in the pit: and they shall be shut vp in the prison, and after many daies shall they be visited.
24:23Then the moone shall be abashed, and the sunne ashamed, when the Lord of hostes shall reigne in mount Zion and in Ierusalem: and glory shalbe before his ancient men.
