Isaiah - Chapter: 24

>
24:1Beholde the lord maketh the earth wayst and emptye: he turneth it vp syde downe, & scatreth abrode the inhabitours therof:
24:2And the prest shalbe as the people, & the master as the seruaunt, the mastresse lyke the mayd, the seller lyke the byer: he that lendeth vpon vsury, lyke hym that boroweth vpon vsury: the creditoure as the detter.
24:3The worlde shalbe cleane wasted & vtterly spoyled, for so the lorde hath spoken.
24:4The earth is sory & consumeth awaye, the worlde is feble & perisheth, the proude people of the erth are come to naught
24:5The earth also is become vnprofitable vnder the inhabitours therof, which haue transgressed the lawes, chaunged the ordinaunce, broken the euerlasting couenaunt.
24:6Therfore hath the curse consumed the earth, and they that dwell therin, are fallen into trespace. Wherfore, the inhabitours of the earth are perished with drouth, and fewe men are left behynde.
24:7The wyne faileth: the vyne hath no myght, all they that haue bene mery of hart, are come to mournyng.
24:8The myrth of tabrettes is layed downe, the noyse of such as haue made mery, is ceassed, the ioye at the herpe is at an ende.
24:9They shall drynke nomore wyne wt myrth, strong drynke shalbe bytter to them that drynke it.
24:10The citye of vanite is broken downe, euery house is shut vp, that noman maye come in.
24:11In the stretes is there a cryeng because of wyne, all chere is vanished awaye, the myrth of the worlde is gone,
24:12in the citye is left desolacyon and the gate is smytten with destruccion.
24:13For in the myddes of the worlde, euen amonge the people, it shall come to passe, as at the shakyng of Olyues, and as the grapes are whan the wyne haruest is done.
24:14They shall lyft vp theyr voyce: and make a mery noyse, and in magnifyeng of the Lord shall they crye out of the west.
24:15Wherfore, prayse ye the lord in the valleys, euen the name of the lord God of Israel in the Iles of the see
24:16From the vttemost parte of the earth haue we heard prayses and myrth because of the ryghteous. And I sayd: I knowe a thyng in secrete, I knowe a thyng in secrete, wo is me, the transgressours haue offended, the transgressours haue greuously offended.
24:17Fearfulnesse, the pytt and the snare are vpon the, O thou that dwellest in the earth.
24:18It will come to passe, that whoso escapeth the fearfull noyse, shall fall in to the pytt. And he that commeth vp out of the pytt, shalbe taken wyth the snare. For the wyndowes from an hye are open, and the foundacions of the earth are moued.
24:19The earth is vtterly broken downe, the earth hath a sore ruyne, the earth quaketh exceadyngly.
24:20The earth shall rele to & fro lyke a dronkerd, and shalbe remoued lyke a like a tent & the iniquitie therof shalbe heuy vpon it. It shall fall, & not rise vp agayne.
24:21And in that daye shall the Lord viset the host aboue that is on hye: & the kinges of the world that are vpon the erth.
24:22And they shalbe gathered together, as they that be in preson: & they shalbe shut vp in warde, & after many daies shall they be visited.
24:23The mone shall be abashed, and the sunne ashamed, when the Lorde of hostes shall raygne in mount Sion and in Ierusalem with worshyp, and in the syght of such as shalbe of hys councell.

24:1Lo! the Lord schal distrie the erthe, and schal make it nakid, and schal turmente the face therof; and he schal scater abrood the dwelleris therof.
24:2And it schal be, as the puple, so the preest; as the seruaunt, so his lord; as the handmaide, so the ladi of hir; as a biere, so he that sillith; as the leenere, so he that takith borewyng; as he that axith ayen, so he that owith.
24:3Bi distriyng the lond schal be distried, and schal be maad nakid by rauyschyng; for whi the Lord spak this word.
24:4The erthe morenyde, and fleet awei, and is maad sijk; the world fleet awei, the hiynesse of the puple of erthe is maad sijk,
24:5and the erthe is slayn of hise dwelleris. For thei passiden lawis, chaungiden riyt, distrieden euerlastynge boond of pees.
24:6For this thing cursyng schal deuoure the erthe, and the dwelleris therof schulen do synne; and therfor the louyeris therof schulen be woode, and fewe men schulen be left.
24:7Vyndage morenyde, the vyne is sijk; alle men that weren glad in herte weiliden.
24:8The ioie of tympans ceesside, the sowne of glad men restide; the swetnesse of harpe with song was stille.
24:9Thei schulen not drynke wyn; a bittere drynk schal be to hem that schulen drynke it.
24:10The citee of vanyte is al to-brokun; ech hous is closid, for no man entrith.
24:11Cry schal be on wyn in streetis, al gladnesse is forsakun, the ioie of erthe is `takun awei.
24:12Desolacioun is left in the citee, and wretchidnesse schal oppresse the yatis.
24:13For these thingis schulen be in the myddis of erthe, in the myddis of puplis, as if a fewe fruitis of olyue trees that ben left ben schakun of fro the olyue tre, and racyns, whanne the vyndage is endid.
24:14These men schulen reise her vois, and schulen preise, whanne the Lord schal be glorified; thei schulen schewe signes of gladnesse fro the see.
24:15For this thing glorifie ye the Lord in techyngis; in the ilis of the see glorifie ye the name of the Lord God of Israel.
24:16Fro the endis of erthe we han herd heriyngis, the glorye of the iust. And Y seide, My priuyte to me, my pryuyte to me. Wo to me, trespassours han trespassid, and han trespassid bi trespassyng of brekeris of the lawe.
24:17Ferdfulnesse, and a diche, and a snare on thee, that art a dwellere of erthe.
24:18And it schal be, he that schal fle fro the face of ferdfulnesse, schal falle in to the diche; and he that schal delyuere hym silf fro the dich, schal be holdun of the snare; for whi the wyndows of hiye thingis ben openyd, and the foundementis of erthe schulen be schakun togidere.
24:19The erthe schal be brokun with brekyng,
24:20the erthe schal be defoulid with defoulyng, the erthe schal be mouyd with mouyng, the erthe schal be schakun with schakyng, as a drunkun man.
24:21And it schal be takun awei, as the tabernacle of o nyyt, and the wickidnesse therof schal greue it; and it schal falle down, and it schal not adde, for to rise ayen. And it schal be, in that dai the Lord schal visite on the knyythod of heuene an hiy, and on the kyngis of erthe, that ben on erthe.
24:22And thei schulen be gaderid togidere in the gadering togidere of a bundel in to the lake, and thei schulen be closid there in prisoun; and aftir many daies thei schulen be visited.
24:23And the moone schal be aschamed, and the sunne schal be confoundid, whanne the Lord of oostis schal regne in the hil of Sion, and in Jerusalem, and schal be glorified in the siyt of hise eldre men.

24:1Beholde, ye LORDE shal waist and plage the worlde, he shal make the face of the earth desolate, & scatre abrode ye inhabitours therof.
24:2Then shal the prest be as the people, the master as the seruaunt, the dame like the mayde, the seller like the byer, he that ledeth vpon vsury, like him yt boroweth vpo vsury, the creditoure, as the detter.
24:3Yee miserably shal ye worlde be waysted & clene destroyed. For ye LORDE hath so determed in himself.
24:4The earth shalbe heuye and decaye: The face of ye earth shal perish & fal awaye, the proude people of ye worlde shal come to naught,
24:5For ye earth is corrupte of hir indwellers. For why they haue offended ye lawe, chaunged the ordinauces, and made the euerlastinge testamet of none effecte,
24:6And therfore shal the curse deuoure the earth: for they yt dwel thero, haue synned. wherfore they shalbe brent also, and those that remayne, shalbe very few.
24:7The swete wyne shal mourne, the grapes shalbe weake, and all yt haue bene mery in harte, shal sighe.
24:8The myrth of tabrettes shalbe layde downe, the chere of the ioyful shal ceasse, and the pleasure of lutes shal haue an ende:
24:9there shal no more wyne bedronke with myrth, the beer shal be bytter to the that drinke it,
24:10the wicked cities shalbe broken downe, all houses shalbe shut, that no man maye come in.
24:11In the stretes shal there be lift vp a crie because of wyne, all mens chere shal vanish awaye, and all ioye of the earth shal passe.
24:12Desolacion shal remayne in the cities, and the gates shalbe smytten with waistnesse.
24:13For it shal happen vnto all londes and to all people, like as when a ma smyteth downe ye olyues, yt are left vpon the tre: or seketh after grapes, when the wyne gatheringe is out.
24:14And those same (that remayne) shal lift vp their voyce, and be glad, & shal magnifie the glory of the LORDE, euen from the see,
24:15& prayse the name of the LORDE God of Israel, in the valeis and Ilodes.
24:16We heare songes sunge to the prayse of the rightuous, fro al the endes of the worlde. Therfore I must speake: O my vnfrutfulnesse, o my pouerte, Wo is me, all is ful of synneres, which offende of purpose and malice.
24:17And therfore, (o thou that dwellest vpon the earth) there is at hode for the, feare, pyt and snare.
24:18Who so escapeth the terrible crie, shal fall in to the pyt. And yf he come out of the pyt, he shalbe take with the snare. For the wyndowes aboue shalbe opened, and the foundacion of the earth shal moue.
24:19The earth shal geue a greate crack, it shal haue a sore ruyne, and take an horrible fall.
24:20The earth shal stacker like a dronken man, and be take awaye like a tent. Hir misdedes shal lie so heuye vpo her, yt she must fall, and neuer rise vp agayne.
24:21At the same tyme shal the LORDE mustre together the hie hooste aboue, and ye kynges of the worlde vpon the earth.
24:22These shalbe coupled together as prisoners be, and shalbe shut in one warde and punished innumerable daies.
24:23The Moone and the Sonne shalbe ashamed, when the LORDE of hoostes shal rule them at Ierusalem vpon the mount Sion, before and with his excellent councel.
