| 21:1 | These are the wordes that the Lorde spake vnto Ieremy what tyme as kyng Zedekiah sent vnto him Phashur the sonne of Melchias, and Sophonias the sonne of Maasias preste, sayinge. |
| 21:2 | Aske councell at the Lorde (we praye the) of our behalfe, for Nabuchodonosor the kynge of Babilon besegeth vs, yf the Lorde (peraduenture) will deale with vs, accordynge to his maruelous power, & take him from vs. |
| 21:3 | Then spake Ieremy. Geue Zedekias this answere. |
| 21:4 | Thus sayeth the Lorde God of Israel: beholde, I wil turne backe the weapens that ye haue in youre handes, wherwith ye fyght agaynst the kynge of Babylon & the Caldees, which besege you round aboute the walles, and I will bringe them together into the myddest of this cytie, |
| 21:5 | & I my selfe wyll fyght against you, with an outstretched hande, & with a myghtie arme, in great displeasure and terrible wrath: |
| 21:6 | & wyll smyte them, that dwel in this citie: yee, both men and catell shall dye of a great pestilence. |
| 21:7 | And after this (sayeth the Lorde) I shal deliuer Zedekias the kinge of Iuda, and his seruauntes, his people (and soch as are escaped in the citie, from the pestilence, swearde and honger) into the power of Nabuchodonosor kynge of Babylon: yee, into the handes of theyr enemyes, into the handes of those that folowe vpon their lyues, which shall smyte them with the swearde, they shal not pytie them, they shall not spare them, they shall haue no mercy vpon them. |
| 21:8 | And vnto this people thou shalt saye. Thus sayeth the Lorde: beholde, I laye before you the waye of lyfe & deeth. |
| 21:9 | Who so abydeth in this cytie, shall perish: ether with the swearde, wyth honger, or wyth pestilence. But who so goeth out to holde on the Chaldees parte, that besege it, he shall saue hys lyfe & shall wynne his soule for a pray. |
| 21:10 | For I haue set my face agaynst this cytie (sayeth the Lorde) to plage it, and to do it no good. It must be geuen into the hande of the king of Babylon, and be brent with fyre. |
| 21:11 | And vnto the house of the kyng of Iuda, saye thus: Heare the worde of the Lord |
| 21:12 | (O thou house of Dauid) for thus saith the Lord: Minister ryghteousnes, and that soone, delyuer the oppressed from violent power or euer my terryble wrath breake out lyke a fyre, and burne so, that no man maye quench it, because of the wyckednes of youre ymaginacions. |
| 21:13 | Beholde (sayeth the Lorde) I will come vpon you, that dwell in the valleyes, rockes and feldes, and saye. Tush: who will make vs afrayed? or who will come into oure houses? |
| 21:14 | For I wyll vyset you (saieth the Lorde) because of the wickednes of your inuencions, and wyll kyndle soche a fyre in youre wood, as shall consume al that is aboute you. |
| 21:1 | The word which was maad of the Lord to Jeremye, whanne king Sedechie sente to hym Phassur, the sone of Helchie, and Sofonye, the preest, the sone of Maasie, and seide, |
| 21:2 | Axe thou the Lord for vs, for Nabugodonosor, the kyng of Babiloyne, fiytith ayens vs; if in hap the Lord do with vs bi alle hise merueilis, and he go awei fro vs. |
| 21:3 | And Jeremye seide to hem, Thus ye schulen seie to Sedechie, |
| 21:4 | The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal turne the instrumentis of batel that ben in youre hondis, and with which ye fiyten ayens the king of Babiloyne, and ayens Caldeis, that bisegen you in the cumpas of wallis; and Y schal gadere tho togidere in the myddis of this citee. |
| 21:5 | And Y schal ouercome you in hond stretchid forth, and in strong arm, and in stronge veniaunce, and indignacioun, and in greet wraththe; |
| 21:6 | and Y schal smyte the dwelleris of this citee, men and beestis schulen die bi greet pestilence. |
| 21:7 | And after these thingis, seith the Lord, Y schal yyue Sedechie, kyng of Juda, and hise seruauntis, and his puple, and that ben left in this citee fro pestilence, and swerd, and hungur, in the hond of Nabugodonosor, kyng of Babiloyne, and in the hond of her enemyes, and in the hond of men sekynge the lijf of hem; and he schal smyte hem bi the scharpnesse of swerd; and he schal not be bowid, nether schal spare, nether schal haue mercy. |
| 21:8 | And thou schalt seie to this puple, The Lord God seith these thingis, Lo! Y yyue bifore you the weie of lijf, and the weie of deth. |
| 21:9 | He that dwellith in this citee, schal die bi swerd, and hungur, and pestilence; but he that goith out, and fleeth ouer to Caldeis that bisegen you, schal lyue, and his lijf schal be as a prey to hym. |
| 21:10 | For Y haue set my face on this citee in to yuel, and not in to good, seith the Lord; it schal be youun in the hond of the king of Babiloyne, and he schal brenne it with fier. |
| 21:11 | And thou schalt seie to the hous of the king of Juda, the hous of Dauid, Here ye the word of the Lord. |
| 21:12 | The Lord seith these thingis, Deme ye eerli doom, and delyuere ye hym that is oppressid bi violence fro the hond of the fals chalenger; lest perauenture myn indignacioun go out as fier, and be kyndlid, and noon be that quenche, for the malice of youre studies. |
| 21:13 | Lo! Y to thee, dwelleresse of the sad valei and pleyn, seith the Lord, which seien, Who schal smyte vs, and who schal entre in to oure housis? |
| 21:14 | And Y schal visite on you bi the fruyt of youre studies, seith the Lord; and Y schal kyndle fier in the forest therof, and it schal deuoure alle thingis in the cumpas therof. |

| 21:6 | and will smyte them, that dwell in this cite: yee both me ad catell shal dye of the pestilence. |
| 21:7 | And after this (saieth the LORDE) I shall delyuer Sedechias the kinge of Iuda, & his seruauntes, his people (and soch as are escaped in the cite, from the pestilence, swearde, and honger) into the power of Nabuchodonosor kinge of Babilon: yee in to the hodes of their enemies, in to the hodes of those yt folowe vpon their lyues, which shall smyte them with ye swerde: they shal not pite the, they shal not spare them, they shall haue no mercy vpon them. |

| 21:13 | Beholde (saieth the LORDE) I wil come vpo you, that dwel in the valleis, rockes and feldes and saye: Tush, who will make vs afrayed? or who will come in to oure houses? |
| 21:14 | For I will vyset you (saieth the LORDE) because off the wickednes off youre invencions, and will kyndle soch a fyre in youre wod, as shall cosume all, that is aboute you. |
