| 24:1 | The Lorde shewed me a vysion: Beholde, there stode two maundes of fygges before the temple of the Lorde, after that Nabuchodonosor kynge of Babylon had led awaye captiue Iechonias the sonne of Iehoakim kynge of Iuda the myghtie men also of Iuda, with the worckmasters, and connynge men of Ierusalem, vnto Babilon. |
| 24:2 | In the one maunde were very good fygges, euen lyke as those that be first ripe. In the other maunde were very naughty fygges, which might not be eaten, they were so euell. |
| 24:3 | Then sayde the Lorde vnto me: what seyst thou Ieremy? I sayde fygges, wherof some be very good, and some so euel, that no man maye eate them. |
| 24:4 | Then came the worde of the Lorde vnto me, after this maner: |
| 24:5 | Thus saieth the Lorde the God of Israell: lyke as thou knowest the good figges, so shall I knowe the men led awaye, whom I haue sent out of this place into the lande of the Caldees, for theyr profyte: |
| 24:6 | and I will set myne eyes vpon them for the best, for I wyll brynge them agayne into this lande: I wyll buylde them vp, and not breake them downe: I will plante them, and not rote them out. |
| 24:7 | And I wyll geue them an herte, to knowe how that I am the Lorde. They shalbe my people, & I will be their God, for they shall returne vnto me with their whole herte. |
| 24:8 | And lyke as thou knowest the naughtie figges, which maye not be eaten, they are so euell: Euen so wyll I (sayeth the Lorde) let Zedekias the Kynge of Iuda, (ye and all his princes, & the residue of Ierusalem that remayne ouer in thys lande, and them also that dwell in Egipte) to be vexed and plaged in all kyngdomes and landes. |
| 24:9 | And wyll make them to be a reprofe, a comen by worde, a laughynge stocke and shame, in all the places, where I shall scatre them. |
| 24:10 | I wil sende the swearde, honger & pestilence amonge them, vntyll I haue cleane consumed them out of the lande, that I gaue vnto them and theyr fathers. |

| 24:2 | And o panyere hadde ful good figis, as figis of the firste tyme ben wont to be; and o panyere hadde ful yuel figis, that miyten not be etun, for tho weren yuel figis. |
| 24:3 | And the Lord seide to me, Jeremye, what thing seest thou? And Y seide, Figis, goode figis, ful goode, and yuele figis, ful yuele, that moun not be etun, for tho ben yuele figis. |
| 24:4 | And the word of the Lord was maad to me, |
| 24:5 | and seide, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, As these figis ben goode, so Y schal knowe the transmygracioun of Juda, which I sente out fro this place in to the lond of Caldeis, in to good. |
| 24:6 | And Y schal sette myn iyen on hem to plese, and Y schal brynge hem ayen in to this lond; and Y schal bilde hem, and Y schal not distrie hem; and Y schal plaunte hem, and Y schal not drawe vp bi the roote. |
| 24:7 | And Y schal yyue to hem an herte, that thei knowe me, for Y am the Lord; and thei schulen be in to a puple to me, and Y schal be in to God to hem, for thei schulen turne ayen to me in al her herte. |
| 24:8 | And as the worste figis ben, that moun not be etun, for tho ben yuele figis, the Lord seith these thingis, So Y schal yyue Sedechie, the kyng of Juda, and the princes of hym, and other men of Jerusalem, that dwelliden in this citee, and that dwellen in the lond of Egipt. |
| 24:9 | And Y schal yyue hem into trauelyng and turment in alle rewmes of erthe, in to schenschipe, and in to parable, and in to a prouerbe, and in to cursyng, in alle places to whiche Y castide hem out. |
| 24:10 | And Y schal sende in hem a swerd, and hungur, and pestilence, til thei be wastid fro the lond which Y yaf to hem, and to the fadris of hem. |
