Jeremiah - Chapter: 31


31:1	At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.
31:2	Thus saith the LORD, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.
31:3	The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
31:4	Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.
31:5	Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.
31:6	For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.
31:7	For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.
31:8	Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.
31:9	They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.
31:10	Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.
31:11	For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.
31:12	Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
31:13	Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
31:14	And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.
31:15	Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
31:16	Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.
31:17	And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.
31:18	I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God.
31:19	Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.
31:20	Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.
31:21	Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: set thine heart toward the highway, even the way which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.
31:22	How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.
31:23	Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless thee, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.
31:24	And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks.
31:25	For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.
31:26	Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.
31:27	Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.
31:28	And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD.
31:29	In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge.
31:30	But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
31:31	Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
31:32	Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
31:33	But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
31:34	And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
31:35	Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
31:36	If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
31:37	Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.
31:38	Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.
31:39	And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.
31:40	And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.


31:1	בעת ההיא נאם יהוה אהיה לאלהים לכל משׁפחות ישׂראל והמה יהיו לי לעם׃
31:2	כה אמר יהוה מצא חן במדבר עם שׂרידי חרב הלוך להרגיעו ישׂראל׃
31:3	מרחוק יהוה נראה לי ואהבת עולם אהבתיך על כן משׁכתיך חסד׃
31:4	עוד אבנך ונבנית בתולת ישׂראל עוד תעדי תפיך ויצאת במחול משׂחקים׃
31:5	עוד תטעי כרמים בהרי שׁמרון נטעו נטעים וחללו׃
31:6	כי ישׁ יום קראו נצרים בהר אפרים קומו ונעלה ציון אל יהוה אלהינו׃
31:7	כי כה אמר יהוה רנו ליעקב שׂמחה וצהלו בראשׁ הגוים השׁמיעו הללו ואמרו הושׁע יהוה את עמך את שׁארית ישׂראל׃
31:8	הנני מביא אותם מארץ צפון וקבצתים מירכתי ארץ בם עור ופסח הרה וילדת יחדו קהל גדול ישׁובו הנה׃
31:9	בבכי יבאו ובתחנונים אובילם אוליכם אל נחלי מים בדרך ישׁר לא יכשׁלו בה כי הייתי לישׂראל לאב ואפרים בכרי הוא׃
31:10	שׁמעו דבר יהוה גוים והגידו באיים ממרחק ואמרו מזרה ישׂראל יקבצנו ושׁמרו כרעה עדרו׃
31:11	כי פדה יהוה את יעקב וגאלו מיד חזק ממנו׃
31:12	ובאו ורננו במרום ציון ונהרו אל טוב יהוה על דגן ועל תירשׁ ועל יצהר ועל בני צאן ובקר והיתה נפשׁם כגן רוה ולא יוסיפו לדאבה עוד׃
31:13	אז תשׂמח בתולה במחול ובחרים וזקנים יחדו והפכתי אבלם לשׂשׂון ונחמתים ושׂמחתים מיגונם׃
31:14	ורויתי נפשׁ הכהנים דשׁן ועמי את טובי ישׂבעו נאם יהוה׃
31:15	כה אמר יהוה קול ברמה נשׁמע נהי בכי תמרורים רחל מבכה על בניה מאנה להנחם על בניה כי איננו׃
31:16	כה אמר יהוה מנעי קולך מבכי ועיניך מדמעה כי ישׁ שׂכר לפעלתך נאם יהוה ושׁבו מארץ אויב׃
31:17	וישׁ תקוה לאחריתך נאם יהוה ושׁבו בנים לגבולם׃
31:18	שׁמוע שׁמעתי אפרים מתנודד יסרתני ואוסר כעגל לא למד השׁיבני ואשׁובה כי אתה יהוה אלהי׃
31:19	כי אחרי שׁובי נחמתי ואחרי הודעי ספקתי על ירך בשׁתי וגם נכלמתי כי נשׂאתי חרפת נעורי׃
31:20	הבן יקיר לי אפרים אם ילד שׁעשׁעים כי מדי דברי בו זכר אזכרנו עוד על כן המו מעי לו רחם ארחמנו נאם יהוה׃
31:21	הציבי לך צינים שׂמי לך תמרורים שׁתי לבך למסלה דרך הלכתי שׁובי בתולת ישׂראל שׁבי אל עריך אלה׃
31:22	עד מתי תתחמקין הבת השׁובבה כי ברא יהוה חדשׁה בארץ נקבה תסובב גבר׃
31:23	כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישׂראל עוד יאמרו את הדבר הזה בארץ יהודה ובעריו בשׁובי את שׁבותם יברכך יהוה נוה צדק הר הקדשׁ׃
31:24	וישׁבו בה יהודה וכל עריו יחדו אכרים ונסעו בעדר׃
31:25	כי הרויתי נפשׁ עיפה וכל נפשׁ דאבה מלאתי׃
31:26	על זאת הקיצתי ואראה ושׁנתי ערבה׃
31:27	הנה ימים באים נאם יהוה וזרעתי את בית ישׂראל ואת בית יהודה זרע אדם וזרע בהמה׃
31:28	והיה כאשׁר שׁקדתי עליהם לנתושׁ ולנתוץ ולהרס ולהאביד ולהרע כן אשׁקד עליהם לבנות ולנטוע נאם יהוה׃
31:29	בימים ההם לא יאמרו עוד אבות אכלו בסר ושׁני בנים תקהינה׃
31:30	כי אם אישׁ בעונו ימות כל האדם האכל הבסר תקהינה שׁניו׃
31:31	הנה ימים באים נאם יהוה וכרתי את בית ישׂראל ואת בית יהודה ברית חדשׁה׃
31:32	לא כברית אשׁר כרתי את אבותם ביום החזיקי בידם להוציאם מארץ מצרים אשׁר המה הפרו את בריתי ואנכי בעלתי בם נאם יהוה׃
31:33	כי זאת הברית אשׁר אכרת את בית ישׂראל אחרי הימים ההם נאם יהוה נתתי את תורתי בקרבם ועל לבם אכתבנה והייתי להם לאלהים והמה יהיו לי לעם׃
31:34	ולא ילמדו עוד אישׁ את רעהו ואישׁ את אחיו לאמר דעו את יהוה כי כולם ידעו אותי למקטנם ועד גדולם נאם יהוה כי אסלח לעונם ולחטאתם לא אזכר עוד׃
31:35	כה אמר יהוה נתן שׁמשׁ לאור יומם חקת ירח וכוכבים לאור לילה רגע הים ויהמו גליו יהוה צבאות שׁמו׃
31:36	אם ימשׁו החקים האלה מלפני נאם יהוה גם זרע ישׂראל ישׁבתו מהיות גוי לפני כל הימים׃
31:37	כה אמר יהוה אם ימדו שׁמים מלמעלה ויחקרו מוסדי ארץ למטה גם אני אמאס בכל זרע ישׂראל על כל אשׁר עשׂו נאם יהוה׃
31:38	הנה ימים נאם יהוה ונבנתה העיר ליהוה ממגדל חננאל שׁער הפנה׃
31:39	ויצא עוד קוה המדה נגדו על גבעת גרב ונסב געתה׃
31:40	וכל העמק הפגרים והדשׁן וכל השׁרמות עד נחל קדרון עד פנת שׁער הסוסים מזרחה קדשׁ ליהוה לא ינתשׁ ולא יהרס עוד לעולם׃


31:1	At that time, an affirmation of Jehovah, I am for God to all families of Israel, And they -- they are to Me for a people.
31:2	Thus said Jehovah: Found grace in the wilderness Hath a people remaining from the sword Going to cause it to rest -- Israel.
31:3	From afar Jehovah hath appeared to me, With love age-during I have loved thee, Therefore I have drawn thee `with' kindness.
31:4	Again do I build thee, And thou hast been built, O virgin of Israel, Again thou puttest on thy tabrets, And hast gone out in the chorus of the playful.
31:5	Again thou dost plant vineyards In mountains of Samaria, Planters have planted, and made common.
31:6	For there is a day, Cried have watchmen on mount Ephraim, `Rise, and we go up to Zion, unto Jehovah our God;
31:7	For thus said Jehovah: Sing, O ye to Jacob, `with' joy, And cry aloud at the head of the nations, Sound ye, praise ye, and say, Save, O Jehovah, thy people, the remnant of Israel.
31:8	Lo, I am bringing them in from the north country, And have gathered them from the sides of the earth, Among them `are' blind and lame, Conceiving and travailing one -- together, A great assembly -- they turn back hither.
31:9	With weeping they come in, And with supplications I bring them, I cause them to go unto streams of waters, In a right way -- they stumble not in it, For I have been to Israel for a father, And Ephraim -- My first-born `is' he.
31:10	Hear a word of Jehovah, O nations, And declare ye among isles afar off, and say: He who is scattering Israel doth gather him, And hath kept him as a shepherd `doth' his flock,
31:11	For Jehovah hath ransomed Jacob, And redeemed him from a hand stronger than he.
31:12	And they have come in, And have sung in the high place of Zion, And flowed unto the goodness of Jehovah, For wheat, and for new wine, and for oil, And for the young of the flock and herd, And their soul hath been as a watered garden, And they add not to grieve any more.
31:13	Then rejoice doth a virgin in a chorus, Both young men and old men -- together, And I have turned their mourning to joy, And have comforted them, And gladdened them above their sorrow,
31:14	And satisfied the soul of the priests `with' fatness, And My people with My goodness are satisfied, An affirmation of Jehovah.
31:15	Thus said Jehovah, A voice in Ramah is heard, wailing, weeping most bitter, Rachel is weeping for her sons, She hath refused to be comforted for her sons, because they are not.
31:16	Thus said Jehovah: Withhold thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears, For there is a reward for thy work, An affirmation of Jehovah, And they have turned back from the land of the enemy.
31:17	And there is hope for thy latter end, An affirmation of Jehovah, And the sons have turned back `to' their border.
31:18	I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself, `Thou hast chastised me, And I am chastised, as a heifer not taught, Turn me back, and I turn back, For thou `art' Jehovah my God.
31:19	For after my turning back I repented, And after my being instructed I struck on the thigh, I have been ashamed, I have also blushed, For I have borne the reproach of my youth.
31:20	A precious son is Ephraim to Me? A child of delights? For since My speaking against him, I do thoroughly remember him still, Therefore have My bowels been moved for him, I do greatly love him, An affirmation of Jehovah.
31:21	Set up for thee signs, make for thee heaps, Set thy heart to the highway, the way thou wentest, Turn back, O virgin of Israel, Turn back unto these thy cities.
31:22	Till when dost thou withdraw thyself, O backsliding daughter? For Jehovah hath prepared a new thing in the land, Woman doth compass man.
31:23	Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Still they say this word in the land of Judah, And in its cities, In My turning back `to' their captivity, Jehovah doth bless thee, habitation of righteousness, Mountain of holiness.
31:24	And dwelt in Judah have husbandmen, and in all its cities together, And they have journeyed in order.
31:25	For I have satiated the weary soul, And every grieved soul I have filled.'
31:26	On this I have awaked, and I behold, and my sleep hath been sweet to me.
31:27	Lo, days are coming, an affirmation of Jehovah, And I have sown the house of Israel, And the house of Judah, With seed of man, and seed of beast.
31:28	And it hath been, as I watched over them to pluck up, And to break down, and to throw down, And to destroy, and to afflict; So do I watch over them to build, and to plant, An affirmation of Jehovah.
31:29	In those days they do not say any more: Fathers have eaten unripe fruit, And the sons' teeth are blunted.
31:30	But -- each for his own iniquity doth die, Every man who is eating the unripe fruit, Blunted are his teeth.
31:31	Lo, days are coming, an affirmation of Jehovah, And I have made with the house of Israel And with the house of Judah a new covenant,
31:32	Not like the covenant that I made with their fathers, In the day of My laying hold on their hand, To bring them out of the land of Egypt, In that they made void My covenant, And I ruled over them -- an affirmation of Jehovah.
31:33	For this `is' the covenant that I make, With the house of Israel, after those days, An affirmation of Jehovah, I have given My law in their inward part, And on their heart I do write it, And I have been to them for God, And they are to me for a people.
31:34	And they do not teach any more Each his neighbour, and each his brother, Saying, Know ye Jehovah, For they all know Me, from their least unto their greatest, An affirmation of Jehovah; For I pardon their iniquity, And of their sin I make mention no more.
31:35	Thus said Jehovah, Who is giving the sun for a light by day, The statutes of moon and stars for a light by night, Quieting the sea when its billows roar, Jehovah of Hosts `is' His name:
31:36	If these statutes depart from before Me, An affirmation of Jehovah, Even the seed of Israel doth cease From being a nation before Me all the days.
31:37	Thus said Jehovah: If the heavens above be measured, And the foundations of earth below searched, Even I kick against all the seed of Israel, For all that they have done, An affirmation of Jehovah.
31:38	Lo, days `are coming', an affirmation of Jehovah, And the city hath been built to Jehovah, From the tower of Hananeel to the gate of the corner.
31:39	And gone out again hath the measuring line Over-against it, unto the height of Gareb, And it hath compassed to Goah.
31:40	And all the valley of the carcases and of the ashes, And all the fields unto the brook Kidron, Unto the corner of the horse-gate eastward, `Are' holy to Jehovah, it is not plucked up, Nor is it thrown down any more to the age!
