Jeremiah - Chapter: 43

>
43:1Nowe when Ieremy had ended all the wordes of the Lord his God vnto the people which to declare the Lorde theyr God had sent hym to them, (euen all thes wordes I saye)
43:2Azariah the sonne of Osaiah, and Iohanan the sonne of Kareah with all the stubborne personnes, sayde vnto Ieremy: Thou lyest; the Lorde oure God hath not sent the to speake vnto vs, that we shulde not go into Egypte, and dwell there:
43:3But Baruch the sonne of Neriah prouoketh the agaynst vs, that he myght brynge vs into the captiuyte of the Caldees: that they might slaye vs, and carye vs awaye presoners vnto Babylon.
43:4So Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaynes of the hooste, and all the people folowed not the commaundement of the Lorde: Namely, to dwell in the lande of Iuda.
43:5But Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaynes of the hooste, caried awaye all the remnaunt in Iuda, that were come together agayne from all the Heythen (among whom they had bene scatred) to dwell in the lande of Iuda:
43:6Men, wemen, chyldren, the kynges daughters, all those that Nabuzaradan the chefe captayne had lefte with Godoliah the sonne of Ahikam, the sonne of Saphan. They caryed awaye also the prophete Ieremy, Baruch the sonne of Neriah,
43:7and so came into Egypte: for they were not obedyent, vnto the commaundement of God. Thus came they to Taphnis.
43:8And in Taphnis the worde of the Lorde happened vnto Ieremy, saying:
43:9Take great stones in thyne hande, and hyde them in the bryck wall, vnder the dore of Pharaos house in Taphnis, that all the men of Iuda maye se,
43:10and saye vnto them: Thus sayth the Lorde of hoostes the God of Israel. Beholde, I wyll sende and call for Nabuchodonosor the kynge of Babylon my seruaunt, and wyll sett his seate vpon these stones that I haue hyd, and he shall sprede his tente ouer them.
43:11And when he commeth, he shall smyte the lande of Egypte, some with slaughter, some with presonment, and some with the swearde.
43:12He shall set fyre vpon the temples of the Egypcians goddes, and burne them vp, & take them selues presoners. Moreouer, he shall araye him selfe with the lande of Egypte, lyke as a shepherde putteth on hys cote, and shall departe his waye from thence in peace.
43:13The pylers also of the temple of the Sunne that is in Egypte: shall he breake in peces, and burne the tempels of the Egypcians goddes.

 

43:1Forsothe it was don, whanne Jeremye spekinge to the puple hadde fillid alle the wordis of the Lord God of hem, for whiche the Lord God of hem sente hym to hem, alle these wordis,
43:2Azarie, the sone of Josie, seide, and Johanna, the sone of Caree, and alle proude men, seiynge to Jeremye, Thou spekist a leesyng; oure Lord God sente not thee, and seide, Entre ye not in to Egipt, to dwelle there;
43:3but Baruc, the sone of Nerie, stirith thee ayens vs, that he bitake vs in the hondis of Caldeis, that he sle vs, and make to be led ouer in to Babiloyne.
43:4And Johanna, the sone of Caree, and alle the princes of werriours, and al the puple, herden not the vois of the Lord, that thei dwellen in the lond of Juda.
43:5But Johanna, the sone of Caree, and alle the princes of werriours, token alle of the remenauntis of Juda, that turneden ayen fro alle folkis, to whiche thei weren scatered bifore, that thei schulden dwelle in the lond of Juda;
43:6thei token men, and wymmen, and litle children, and the douytris of the kyng, and ech persoone, whom Nabusardan, the prince of chyualrie, hadde left with Godolie, the sone of Aicham, sone of Saphan. And thei token Jeremye, the profete, and Baruc, the sone of Nerie,
43:7and thei entriden in to the lond of Egipt; for thei obeieden not to the vois of the Lord, and thei camen `til to Taphnys.
43:8And the word of the Lord was maad to Jeremye in Taphnys,
43:9and seide, Take in thin hond grete stoonys, and hide thou tho in a denne, which is vndur the wal of tiil stoon, in the yate of the hous of Farao, in Taphnys, while alle Jewis seen.
43:10And thou schalt seie to hem, The Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal sende, and Y schal take Nabugodonosor, my seruaunt, the kyng of Babiloyne; and Y schal sette his trone on these stoonys, whiche Y hidde; and he schal sette his seete on tho stoonys.
43:11And he schal come, and smyte the lond of Egipt, whiche in deth in to deth, and whiche in caitiftee in to caitiftee, and whiche in swerd in to swerd.
43:12And he schal kindle fier in the templis of goddis of Egipt, and he schal brenne tho templis, and schal lede hem prisoneris; and the lond of Egipt schal be wlappid, as a scheepherd is wlappid in his mentil; and he schal go out fro thennus in pees.
43:13And he schal al to-breke the ymagis of the hous of the sunne, that ben in the lond of Egipt; and he schal brenne in fier the templis of the goddis of Egipt.

43:4So Iohanna the sonne of Carea, and all the captaynes of the hooste, and all the people folowed not the commaundement of the LORDE: Namely, to dwell in the londe off Iuda:
43:5But Iohanna the sonne of Carea & all the captaynes of the hooste, caried awaye all the remnaunt in Iuda, that were come together agayne from the Heithen (amoge whom they had bene scatred) to dwell in the londe of Iuda:
43:6Men, women, childre, the kynges doughters: all those that Nabusaradan the chefe captayne had left with Godolias the sonne of Ahicam. They caried awaye also the prophet Ieremy, Baruch the sonne of Nerias,
43:7and so came in to Egipte: for they were not obedient vnto the commaundement of God. Thus came they to Taphnis.
43:8And in Taphnis the worde off the LORDE happened vnto Ieremy, sayenge:

43:12He shall set fyre vpon the temples of the Egipcias goddes, and burne them vp, & take them selues presoners. Morouer he shall araye himselff wt the lode of Egipte, like as a shepherde putteth on his cote, and shall departe his awaye from thence in peace.
43:13The pilers also of the temple of the Sonne that is in Egipte, shal he breake in peces, and burne the tempels of the Egipcians goddes.
