Ezekiel - Chapter: 33


33:1	Againe the worde of the Lord came vnto mee, saying,
33:2	Sonne of man, speake to the children of thy people, and say vnto them, When I bring the sword vpon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman,
33:3	If when he seeth the sword come vpon the land, hee blow the trumpet, and warne the people,
33:4	Then whosoeuer heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning, if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be vpon his owne head.
33:5	Hee heard the sound of the trumpet, and tooke not warning, his blood shall be vpon him: but he that taketh warning, shall deliuer his soule.
33:6	But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned: if the sword come and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquitie: but his blood will I require at the watchmans hand.
33:7	So thou, O sonne of man, I haue set thee a watchman vnto the house of Israel: therefore thou shalt heare the worde at my mouth, and warne them from me.
33:8	When I say vnto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die, if thou doest not speake to warne the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquitie: but his blood will I require at thine hand.
33:9	Neuerthelesse if thou warne the wicked of his way to turne from it: if he do not turne from his way, he shal die in his iniquitie: but thou hast deliuered thy soule.
33:10	Therefore, O thou sonne of man, speake vnto the house of Israel, Thus ye speake, saying, If our transgressions and our sinnes be vpon vs, & we pine away in them, how should we then liue?
33:11	Say vnto them, As I liue, saith the Lord God, I haue no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turne from his way & liue: turne ye, turne ye from your euill wayes, for why wil ye die, O house of Israel?
33:12	Therefore thou sonne of man, say vnto the children of thy people, The righteousnes of the righteous shal not deliuer him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickednes of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that hee turneth from his wickednes, neither shall the righteous bee able to liue for his righteousnes in the day that he sinneth.
33:13	When I shal say to the righteous, that he shall surely liue if he trust to his owne righteousnes and commit iniquitie, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembred; but for his iniquitie that he hath committed, he shall die for it.
33:14	Againe, when I say vnto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die, if hee turne from his sinne, and do that which is lawfull and right;
33:15	If the wicked restore the pledge, giue againe that he had robbed, walke in the Statutes of life without committing iniquitie, hee shall surely liue, hee shall not die.
33:16	None of his sinnes that hee hath committed, shall be mentioned vnto him: he hath done that which is lawfull and right; he shall surely liue.
33:17	Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equall: but as for them, their way is not equall.
33:18	When the righteous turneth from his righteousnes, and committeth iniquitie, he shall euen die thereby.
33:19	But if the wicked turne from his wickednes, and doe that which is lawfull and right, he shall liue thereby.
33:20	Yet yee say, The way of the Lord is not equall, O yee house of Israel; I will iudge you euery one after his wayes.
33:21	And it came to passe in the twelfth yeere of our captiuitie, in the tenth moneth, in the fifth day of the moneth, that one that had escaped out of Ierusalem, came vnto mee, saying, The city is smitten.
33:22	Now the hand of the Lord was vpon mee in the euening, afore hee that was escaped came, and had opened my mouth vntill hee came to mee in the morning, and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumbe.
33:23	Then the word of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
33:24	Sonne of man, they that inhabite those wastes of the land of Israel, speake, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many, the land is giuen vs for inheritance.
33:25	Wherefore say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, Ye eate with the blood, and lift vp your eyes toward your idoles, and shed blood; and shal ye possesse the land?
33:26	Yee stand vpon your sword; yee worke abomination, and ye defile euery one his neighbours wife, and shall ye possesse the land?
33:27	Say thou thus vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, As I liue, surely they that are in the wastes, shall fall by the sword, and him that is in the open field will I giue to the beasts to be deuoured: and they that be in the forts and in the caues, shall die of the pestilence.
33:28	For I will lay the land most desolate, and the pompe of her strength shall cease: and the mountaines of Israel shall bee desolate, that none shall passe through.
33:29	Then shall they know that I am the Lord, when I haue layed the land most desolate, because of all their abominations which they haue committed.
33:30	Also thou sonne of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walles, and in the doores of the houses, and speake one to another, euery one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and heare what is the word that commeth foorth from the Lord.
33:31	And they come vnto thee as the people commeth, and they sit before thee as my people, and they heare thy words, but they will not doe them: for with their mouth they shew much loue, but their heart goeth after their couetousnesse.
33:32	And loe, thou art vnto them as a very louely song of one that hath a pleasant voyce, and can play well on an instrument: for they heare thy wordes, but they doe them not.
33:33	And when this commeth to passe, (loe it will come) then shall they know that a Prophet hath bene among them.


33:1	Again, the woorde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
33:2	Sonne of man, speake to the children of thy people, and say vnto them, When I bring the sworde vpon a lande, if the people of the lande take a man from among them, and make him their watchman,
33:3	If when hee seeth the sworde come vpon ye land, he blow the trumpet, and warne the people,
33:4	Then hee that heareth the sounde of the trumpet, and will not bee warned, if the sworde come, and take him away, his blood shall be vpon his owne head.
33:5	For he heard the sound of the trumpet, and woulde not bee admonished: therefore his blood shall be vpon him: but he that receiueth warning, shall saue his life.
33:6	But if the watchman see the sworde come, and blowe not the trumpet, and the people be not warned: if the sworde come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away for his iniquitie, but his blood will I require at the watchmans hande.
33:7	So thou, O sonne of man, I haue made thee a watchman vnto the house of Israel: therefore thou shalt heare the woorde at my mouth, and admonish them from me.
33:8	When I shall say vnto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt die the death, if thou doest not speake, and admonish the wicked of his way, that wicked man shall die for his iniquitie, but his blood will I require at thine hand.
33:9	Neuerthelesse, If thou warne the wicked of his way, to turne from it, if he doe not turne from his way, he shall die for his iniquitie, but thou hast deliuered thy soule.
33:10	Therefore, O thou sonne of man, speake vnto the house of Israel, Thus yee speake and say, If our transgressions and our sinnes bee vpon vs, and we are consumed because of them, howe should we then liue?
33:11	Say vnto them, As I liue, sayeth the Lord God, I desire not the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turne from his way and liue: turne you, turne you from your euill waies, for why will ye die, O ye house of Israel?
33:12	Therefore thou sonne of man, saye vnto the children of thy people, The righteousnesse of the righteous shall not deliuer him in the day of his transgression, nor the wickednesse of the wicked shall cause him to fall therein, in the day that he returneth from his wickednesse, neither shall the righteous liue for his righteousnesse in the day that he sinneth.
33:13	When I shall say vnto the righteous, that he shall surely liue, if he trust to his owne righteousnes, and commit iniquitie, all his righteousnes shall be no more remembred, but for his iniquitie that he hath committed, he shall die for the same.
33:14	Againe when I shall say vnto the wicked, thou shalt die the death, if he turne from his sinne, and doe that which is lawfull and right,

33:20	Yet yee say, The way of the Lord is not equall. O ye house of Israel, I will iudge you euery one after his waies.
33:21	Also in the twelfth yere of our captiuitie, in the tenth moneth, and in the fift day of the moneth, one that had escaped out of Ierusalem, came vnto me, and said, The citie is smitten.
33:22	Now the hand of the Lord had bene vpon me in ye euening afore hee that had escaped, came, and had opened my mouth vntill he came to me in the morning: and when hee had opened my mouth, I was no more dumme.
33:23	Againe the worde of the Lord came vnto me, and saide,
33:24	Sonne of man, these that dwel in the desolate places of the land of Israel, talke and say, Abraham was but one, and hee possessed the lande: but we are many, therefore the lande shall be giuen vs in possession.
33:25	Wherefore say vnto them, Thus saieth the Lord God, Ye eate with the blood, and lift vp your eyes towarde your idoles, and sheade blood: should ye then possesse the land?
33:26	Ye leane vpon your swordes: ye worke abomination, and yee defile euery one his neighbours wife: should ye then possesse the land?
33:27	Say thus vnto them, Thus saieth the Lord God, As I liue, so surely they that are in the desolate places, shall fall by the sword: and him that is in the open field, will I giue vnto the beasts to be deuoured: and they that be in the forts and in the caues, shall die of the pestilence.
33:28	For I will lay the land desolate and waste, and the pompe of her strength shall cease: and the moutaines of Israel shalbe desolate, and none shall passe through.
33:29	Then shall they know that I am the Lord, when I haue laid ye land desolate and wast, because of al their abominations, that they haue committed.
33:30	Also thou sonne of man, the children of thy people that talke of thee by the wals and in the dores of houses, and speake one to another, euery one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and heare what is the word that commeth from the Lord.
33:31	For they come vnto thee, as the people vseth to come: and my people sit before thee, and heare thy wordes, but they will not doe them: for with their mouthes they make iestes, and their heart goeth after their couetousnesse.
33:32	And loe, thou art vnto them, as a iesting song of one that hath a pleasant voyce, and can sing well: for they heare thy woordes, but they doe them not.
33:33	And when this commeth to passe (for loe, it will come) then shall they know, that a Prophet hath bene among them.


33:1	Agayne, the worde of the Lorde came vnto me: sayenge.
33:2	Thou sonne of man, Speke to the children of thy people, and tell them: Whan I sende a swearde vpon a lande, yf the people of the lande take a man of their countre, & set hym to be their watchman,
33:3	the same man (whan he seyth the swearde come vpon the lande) shall blowe the trompet, and warne the people.
33:4	If a man now heare the noyse of the trompet & wyll not be warned, and the swearde come: and take him awaye: his bloude shall be vpon his awne head:
33:5	for he herde the sound of the trompet, & wolde not take hede, therfore his bloude be vpon him. But yf he will receaue warninge, he shall saue his lyfe.
33:6	Agayne, yf the watch man se the swearde come, and shewe it not with the trompet, so that the people is not warned: yf the swearde come then, & take eny man from among them: the same shall be taken awaye in his awne synne, but his bloude wyll I require of the watchmans hande.
33:7	And now (O thou sonne of man) I haue made the a watchman vnto the house of Israel: that where as thou hearest eny thinge out of my mouth, thou mayest warne them on my behalfe.
33:8	If I saye vnto the wycked thou wycked, thou shalt surely dye, & thou geuest him not warnynge, that he maye bewarre of his vngodly waye: then shall the wycked dye in his awne synne, but his bloude wyll I require of thy hande.
33:9	Neuertheles, yf thou warne the wycked of hys waye, to turne from it, where as he yet wyll not be turned from it, then shal he dye because of his synne, but thou hast deliuered thy soule.
33:10	Therfore (O thou sonne of man) speake vnto the house of Israel. Ye, saye thus: Oure offences and synnes lye vpon vs, and we be corrupte in them: how shulde we then be restored vnto lyfe?
33:11	Tell them: As truly as I lyue saieth the Lord God, I haue no pleasure in the death of the wycked, but moch rather that the wycked turne from his waye, & lyue. Turne you, turne you from your vngodly wayes, O ye of the house of Israell. Oh wherfore wyll ye dye?
33:12	Thou sonne of man, tell the chyldren of thy people: The righteousnes of the ryghteous shal not saue him, whansoeuer he turneth awaye vnfaithfully. Agayne, the wyckednesse of the wycked shall not hurt hym, whan soeuer he conuerteth from hys vngodlynesse. And the ryghteousnesse of the ryghteous shall not saue his lyfe, whansoeuer he synneth.
33:13	If I saye vnto the ryghteous, that he shal surely lyue, and so he trust to his awne ryghteousnesse, and do synne, then shall hys righteousnesse be nomore thought vpon, but in the wyckednesse that he hath done he shal dye.
33:14	Agayne, yf I saye vnto the wycked: thou shalt surely dye: and so he turne from his synnes, and do the thinge that is lawfull and right:
33:15	In so moch that the same wicked man geueth the pledge agayne, restoreth that he had taken awaye by robbyry, walcketh in the commaundementes of lyfe, and doth no wronge. Then shall he surely lyue, and not dye.
33:16	Yee, the synnes that he hath done, shall neuer be thought vpon. For in so moch as he doth now the thinge that is lawfull & ryght, he shall lyue.
33:17	And yet the chyldren of thy people saye: Tush: the waye of the Lorde is not ryght, but they lye, where as their awne waye is rather vnright.
33:18	When the ryghteous turneth from his ryghteousnes and doth the thing that is wicked he shall dye therfore.
33:19	But yf the wicked turne from his wickednesse, doing the thinge that is lawfull and right, he shall lyue therfore.
33:20	Yet ye saye: the waye of the Lorde is not equall. O ye house of Israell I will iudge euery one of you after his wayes.
33:21	In the .xii. yeare, the .v. daye of the tenth moneth of oure captiuite, it happened, that one which was fled out of Ierusalem, came vnto me, and sayd: the citye is destroyed.
33:22	Now the hande of the Lord had bene vpon me the euening afore this man (which was escaped) came vnto me, & had opened my mouth, vntyll the mornyng that he came to me: yee, he opened my mouth, so that I was nomore domme.
33:23	Then came the worde of the Lord vnto me, & sayd.
33:24	Thou sonne of man, these that dwell in the wasted lande of Israel, saye: Abraham was but one man, and he had the lande in possession: now are we many & the lande is geuen vs to possesse also.
33:25	And therfore tell them. Thus sayeth the Lord: In the bloud haue ye eaten, youre eyes haue ye lyft vp to Idoles, and haue shed bloud: shall ye then haue the lande in possession?
33:26	Ye leane vpon your sweardes, ye worcke abhominacions, euery one defileth his neyghbours wife: and shall ye then possesse the lande?
33:27	Saye thou these wordes vnto them. Thus saieth the Lord God. As truly as I lyue all ye that dwell in thys wyldernesse, shalbe slayne with the swearde: whatsoeuer is vpon the felde, will I geue vnto the beastes to be deuoured: those that be in strong holdes & dennes, shall dye of the pestilence.
33:28	For I wyll make the lande so desolate and waste, & the pompe of her strength shal come to an ende. The mountaynes in Israel shalbe so waste that noman shall trauayle therby.
33:29	Then shall they lerne to knowe, that I am the Lord, when I make the lande waste & desolate, because of all their abhominacions, that they haue wrought.
33:30	And thou sonne of man, the children of thy people that talcke of the, by the walles and in the dores of their houses, sayinge one to another: Come, let vs heare, what worde is gone forth from the Lord.
33:31	These come vnto the, after the maner of a greate people: yee, as who sayth they were my people, they syt downe before the, and heare thy wordes, but they do not therafter for in their mouthes they make a Ieste of them, and theyr herte goeth after theyr awne couetous lucre.
33:32	And as a balet that hath a swete tune, and is pleasaunt to synge, so shalt thou be vnto them: thy wordes shal they heare, but they will not do therafter.
33:33	Whan this commeth to passe (for lo, it commeth in dede) then shall they knowe, that there hath bene a prophet amonge them.
