6:1	Takith hede, that ye do not youre riytwisnesse bifor men, to be seyn of hem, ellis ye schulen haue no meede at youre fadir that is in heuenes.
6:2	Therfore whanne thou doist almes, nyle thou trumpe tofore thee, as ypocritis doon in synagogis and stretis, that thei be worschipid of men; sotheli Y seie to you, they han resseyued her meede.
6:3	But whanne thou doist almes, knowe not thi left hond what thi riyt hond doith, that thin almes be in hidils,
6:4	and thi fadir that seeth in hiddils, schal quyte thee.
6:5	And whanne ye preyen, ye schulen not be as ipocritis, that louen to preye stondynge in synagogis and corneris of stretis, to be seyn of men; treuli Y seie to you, thei han resseyued her meede.
6:6	But whanne thou schalt preye, entre in to thi couche, and whanne the dore is schet, preye thi fadir in hidils, and thi fadir that seeth in hidils, schal yelde to thee.
6:7	But in preiyng nyle yee speke myche, as hethene men doon, for thei gessen that thei ben herd in her myche speche.
6:8	Therfor nyle ye be maad lich to hem, for your fadir woot what is nede to you, bifore that ye axen hym.
6:9	And thus ye schulen preye, Oure fadir that art in heuenes, halewid be thi name;
6:10	thi kyngdoom come to; be thi wille don `in erthe as in heuene;
6:11	yyue to vs this dai oure `breed ouer othir substaunce;
6:12	and foryyue to vs oure dettis, as we foryyuen to oure dettouris; and lede vs not in to temptacioun,
6:13	but delyuere vs fro yuel.
6:14	Amen. For if ye foryyuen to men her synnes, youre heuenli fadir schal foryyue to you youre trespassis.
6:15	Sotheli if ye foryyuen not to men, nether youre fadir schal foryyue to you youre synnes.
6:16	But whanne ye fasten, nyle ye be maad as ypocritis sorewful, for thei defacen hem silf, to seme fastyng to men; treuli Y seie to you, they han resseyued her meede.
6:17	But whanne thou fastist, anoynte thin heed, and waische thi face,
6:18	that thou be not seen fastynge to men, but to thi fadir that is in hidlis, and thi fadir that seeth in priuey, shal yelde to thee.
6:19	Nile ye tresoure to you tresouris in erthe, where ruste and mouyte destrieth, and where theues deluen out and stelen;
6:20	but gadere to you tresouris in heuene, where nether ruste ne mouyte distrieth, and where theues deluen not out, ne stelen.
6:21	For where thi tresoure is, there also thin herte is.
6:22	The lanterne of thi bodi is thin iye; if thin iye be symple, al thi bodi shal be liytful;
6:23	but if thin iye be weiward, al thi bodi shal be derk. If thanne the liyt that is in thee be derknessis, how grete schulen thilk derknessis be?
6:24	No man may serue tweyn lordis, for ethir he schal hate `the toon, and loue the tother; ethir he shal susteyne `the toon, and dispise the tothir. Ye moun not serue God and richessis.
6:25	Therfor I seie to you, that ye be not bisi to youre lijf, what ye schulen ete; nether to youre bodi, with what ye schulen be clothid. Whether lijf is not more than meete, and the bodie more than cloth?
6:26	Biholde ye the foulis of the eire, for thei sowen not, nethir repen, nethir gaderen in to bernes; and youre fadir of heuene fedith hem. Whether ye ben not more worthi than thei?
6:27	But who of you thenkynge mai putte to his stature o cubit?
6:28	And of clothing what ben ye bisye? Biholde ye the lilies of the feeld, how thei wexen. Thei trauelen not, nether spynnen;
6:29	and Y seie to you, Salomon in al his glorie was not keuered as oon of these.
6:30	And if God clothith thus the hei of the feeld, that to day is, and to morewe is cast in to an ouen, hou myche more you of litel feith?
6:31	Therfor nyle ye be bisi, seiynge, What schulen we ete? or, What schulen we drinke? or, With what thing schulen we be keuered?
6:32	For hethene men seken alle these thingis; and youre fadir woot, that ye han nede to alle these thingis.
6:33	Therfor seke ye first the kyngdom of God, and his riytfulnesse, and alle these thingis shulen be cast to you.
6:34	Therfor nyle ye be bisy in to the morew, for the morew shal be bisi to `hym silf; for it suffisith to the dai his owen malice.


6:1	Take hede to youre almes. That ye geve it not in the syght of men to the intent that ye wolde be sene of them. Or els ye get no rewarde of youre father which is in heve.
6:2	Whe soever therfore thou gevest thine almes thou shalt not make a tropet to be blowe before the as ye ypocrites do in the synagogis and in the stretis for to be preysed of men. Verely I say vnto you they have their rewarde.
6:3	But whe thou doest thine almes let not thy lyfte had knowe what thy righte had doth
6:4	yt thine almes may be secret: and thy father which seith in secret shall rewarde ye opely.
6:5	And when thou prayest thou shalt not be as ye ypocrytes are. For they love to stond and praye in the synagoges and in the corners of ye stretes because they wolde be sene of men. Verely I saye vnto you they haue their rewarde.
6:6	But when thou prayest entre into thy chamber and shut thy dore to the and praye to thy father which ys in secrete: and thy father which seith in secret shall rewarde the openly.
6:7	And whe ye praye bable not moche as the hethe do: for they thincke that they shalbe herde for their moche bablynges sake.
6:8	Be ye not lyke them therfore. For youre father knoweth wherof ye haue neade before ye axe of him.
6:9	After thys maner therfore praye ye. O oure father which arte in heve halowed be thy name.
6:10	Let thy kyngdome come. Thy wyll be fulfilled as well in erth as it ys in heven.
6:11	Geve vs this daye oure dayly breede.
6:12	And forgeve vs oure treaspases eve as we forgeve oure trespacers.
6:13	And leade vs not into teptacion: but delyver vs fro evell. For thyne is ye kyngedome and ye power and ye glorye for ever. Amen.
6:14	For and yf ye shall forgeve other men their treaspases youre hevenly father shall also forgeve you.
6:15	But and ye wyll not forgeve men their trespases nomore shall youre father forgeve youre treaspases.
6:16	Moreoure when ye faste be not sad as ye ypocrytes are. For they disfigure their faces that they myght be sene of me how they faste. Verely I say vnto you they have their rewarde.
6:17	But thou whe thou fastest annoynte thyne heed and washe thy face
6:18	that it appere not vnto men howe that thou fastest: but vnto thy father which is in secrete: and thy father which seeth in secret shall rewarde the openly.
6:19	Se that ye gaddre you not treasure vpon ye erth where rust and mothes corrupte and where theves breake through and steale.
6:20	But gaddre ye treasure togeder in heve where nether rust nor mothes corrupte and where theves nether breake vp nor yet steale.
6:21	For where soever youre treasure ys there will youre hertes be also.
6:22	The light of the body is thyne eye. Wher fore if thyne eye besyngle all thy body shalbe full of light.
6:23	But and if thyne eye be wycked then all thy body shalbe full of derckenes. Wherfore yf the light that is in the be darckenes: how greate is that darckenes.
6:24	No ma can serve two masters. For ether he shall hate the one and love the other: or els he shall lene to ye one and despise ye other: ye can not serve God and mammon.
6:25	Therfore I saye vnto you be not carefull for your lyfe what ye shall eate or what ye shall drincke nor yet for youre body what ye shall put on. ys not ye lyfe more worth then meate and the body more of value then raymeut?
6:26	Beholde the foules of ye ayer: for they sowe not nether reepe nor yet cary into ye barnes: and yet youre hevely father fedeth the. Are ye not moche better the they?
6:27	Which of you (though he toke thought therfore) coulde put one cubit vnto his stature?
6:28	And why care ye then for raymet? Considre ye lylies of ye felde how they growe. They labour not nether spynne.
6:29	And yet for all yt I saye vnto you yt eue Salomon in all his royalte was not arayed lyke vnto one of these.
6:30	Wherfore yf God so clothe the grasse which ys to daye in the felde and to morowe shalbe caste in to the fournace: shall he not moche more do the same vnto you o ye of lytle fayth?
6:31	Therfore take no thought sayinge: what shall we eate or what shall we drincke or wherwt shall we be clothed?
6:32	After all these thynges seke the getyls. For youre hevely father knoweth that ye have neade of all these thynges.
6:33	But rather seke ye fyrst the kyngdome of heuen and the rightwisnes therof and all these thynges shalbe ministred vnto you.
6:34	Care not then for the morow but let ye morow care for it selfe: for the daye present hath ever ynough of his awne trouble.
