Matthew - Chapter: 10

>
10:1And when hee had called vnto him his twelue disciples, he gaue them power against vncleane spirits, to cast them out, and to heale all maner of sickenesse, and all maner of disease.
10:2Now the names of the twelue Apostles are these: The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, Iames the sonne of Zebedee, and Iohn his brother:
10:3Philip, and Bartholomew, Thomas, and Matthew the Publicane, Iames the sonne of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus:
10:4Simon the Canaanite, and Iudas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
10:5These twelue Iesus sent foorth, and commanded them, saying, Goe not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
10:6But goe rather to the lost sheepe of the house of Israel.
10:7And as yee goe, preach, saying, The kingdome of heauen is at hand:
10:8Heale the sicke, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out deuils: freely ye haue receiued, freely giue.
10:9Prouide neither gold, nor siluer, nor brasse in your purses:
10:10Nor scrippe for your iourney, neither two coats, neither shooes, nor yet staues: (for the workeman is worthy of his meat.)
10:11And into whatsoeuer city or towne ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there abide till yee goe thence.
10:12And when ye come into an house, salute it.
10:13And if the house be worthy, let your peace come vpon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace returne to you.
10:14And whosoeuer shall not receiue you, nor heare your words: when yee depart out of that house, or city, shake off the dust of your feete.
10:15Uerely I say vnto you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of iudgment, then for that citie.
10:16Behold, I send you foorth as sheepe in the middest of wolues: be yee therefore wise as serpents, and harmelesse as doues.
10:17But beware of men: for they will deliuer you vp to the Councils, and they will scourge you in their Synagogues,
10:18And yee shall be brought before Gouernours and Kings for my sake, for a testimonie against them, and the Gentiles.
10:19But when they deliuer you vp, take no thought, how or what ye shall speake, for it shall bee giuen you in that same houre what ye shall speake.
10:20For it is not yee that speake, but the Spirit of your Father, which speaketh in you.
10:21And the brother shall deliuer vp the brother to death, and the father the childe: and the children shall rise vp against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
10:22And yee shall be hated of all men for my Names sake: but he that endureth to the end, shalbe saued.
10:23But when they persecute you in this citie, flee ye into another: for verely I say vnto you, ye shall not haue gone ouer the cities of Israel, till the Sonne of man be come.
10:24The disciple is not aboue his master, nor the seruant aboue his lord.
10:25It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the seruant as his Lord: If they haue called the Master of the house of Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
10:26Feare them not therefore: for there is nothing couered, that shall not be reueiled; and hidde, that shall not be knowen.
10:27What I tell you in darkenesse, that speake yee in light: and what yee heare in the eare, that preach yee vpon the house tops.
10:28And feare not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soule: but rather feare him which is able to destroy both soule and body in hell.
10:29Are not two Sparrowes solde for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
10:30But the very haires of your head are all numbred.
10:31Feare yee not therefore, ye are of more value then many Sparrowes.
10:32Whosoeuer therefore shall confesse mee before men, him will I confesse also before my Father which is in heauen.
10:33But whosoeuer shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heauen.
10:34Thinke not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
10:35For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, & the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
10:36And a mans foes shalbe they of his owne houshold.
10:37He that loueth father or mother more then me, is not worthy of me: and he that loueth sonne or daughter more then me, is not worthy of me.
10:38And he that taketh not his crosse, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
10:39He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake, shall find it.
10:40He that receiueth you, receiueth me: and he that receiueth mee, receiueth him that sent me.
10:41He that receiueth a Prophet in the name of a Prophet, shall receiue a Prophets reward: and he that receiueth a righteous man, in the name of a righteous man, shal receiue a righteous mans reward.
10:42And whosoeuer shall giue to drinke vnto one of these litle ones, a cup of cold water onely, in the name of a disciple, verily I say vnto you, hee shall in no wise lose his reward.

10:1And he called his xii. disciples vnto hym, & gaue them power ouer vncleane spretes, to cast them out, & to heale all maner of sicknesses, and all maner of deseases.
10:2The names of the xii. Apostels are these: The fyrst, Simon called Peter: & Andrew his brother.Iames the sonne of Zebede, and Ihon his brother.
10:3Philip and Bartlemew. Thomas, and Mathew the Publican. Iames the sonne of Alphe, and Lebbeus otherwyse called Taddeus.
10:4Simon of Cane, and Iudas Iscarioth, which also betrayed hym.
10:5These twolue sent Iesus, and commaunded them, sayinge: Go not in to the wayes yt leade to the Heithen, and in to the cities of the Samaritas enter ye not.
10:6But go rather to the lost shepe of the housse of Israel.
10:7Go and preach, sayinge: The kyngdome of heue is at hande.
10:8Heale the sicke, clense the lepers rayse the deed, cast out the deuils. Frely ye haue receaued, frely geue againe.
10:9Posses not golde, nor siluer, nor brasse yn youre gerdels,
10:10nor yet scrip towardes your iorney: nether two cotes, nether shues, nor yet a staffe. For the workman is worthy of his meate.
10:11In to whatsoeuer cite or towne ye shall come, enquyre in it, who is mete for you, and there abyde, tyll ye go thence.
10:12And whe ye come in to an house, salute ye same.
10:13And yf the housse be mete for you, yor peace shal come vpo it. But yf it be not mete for you, yor peace shal turne to you againe.
10:14And yf no man wil receaue you, ner heare youre preachinge, departe out of that house or that cite, and shake the dust of youre fete.
10:15Truly I saye vnto you: it shall be easyer for ye londe of Sodoma and Gomorra in ye daye of iudgment, then for that cite.
10:16Beholde, I sende you forth as shepe amoge wolues. Be ye therfore wyse as serpentes, and innocent as doues.
10:17Beware of men, for they shall deliuer you vp to the cousels, and shal scourge you in their synagoges.
10:18And ye shall be brought before prynces and kynges for my sake, in witnes to them and to the gentyls.
10:19But when they delyuer you vp, take no thought how or what ye shall speake, for yt shalbe geuen you, euen in that same houre, what ye shall saye.
10:20For it is not ye that speake, but the sprete of your father which speaketh in you.
10:21The brother shall delyuer the brother to deeth, and the father the sonne. And the chyldren shall aryse agaynst their fathers & mothers, & shall helpe them to deeth:
10:22& ye shall be hated of all men for my names sake. But he yt endureth to the ende, shalbe saued.
10:23When they persecute you in one cite, flye in to another. I tell you for a treuth, ye shall not fynysshe all the cities of Israel, tyll the sonne of man come.
10:24The disciple is not aboue the master, nether the seruaunt aboue the LORDE.
10:25It is ynough for the disciple, to be as his master, and the seruaunt as his LORDE. Yf they haue called the good ma of the house Beelzebub, how moch more shal they call them of his housholde so?
10:26Feare them not therfore.There is nothinge hyd, that shal not be openly shewed: and nothinge secrete, that shall not be knowne.
10:27What I tell you in darcknes, that speake ye in light: and what ye heare in the eare, that preach ye vpon the house toppes.
10:28And feare ye not them that kyll the body, and be not able to kyll the soule. But rather feare hi, which is able to destroye both soule and body in to hell.
10:29Are not two sparowes solde for a farthinge? Yet doth there none of the light vpon the groude without youre father.
10:30And now are all ye hayres of youre heade tolde.
10:31Feare ye not therfore: ye are of more value then many sparowes.
10:32Therfore whosoeuer knowlegeth me before me, him wil I knowlege also before my father which is in heauen.
10:33But who soeuer denyeth me before me, him wil I also denie before my father which is in heauen.
10:34Thynke not that I am come to sende peace vpon earth. I came not to sende peace, but a swerde.
10:35For I am come to set a ma at variaunce ageynst his father, and the doughter ageynst hir mother, & the doughter in lawe ageynst her mother in lawe:
10:36and a mans foes shalbe they of his owne housholde.
10:37Who so loueth father and mother more then me, is not mete for me: and he that loueth sonne or doughter more then me, is not mete for me.
10:38And he yt taketh not his crosse and foloweth me, is not mete for me.
10:39Who so fyndeth his life, shal lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake, shal fynde it.
10:40He that receaueth you, receaueth me: & who so receaueth me, receaueth him yt sent me.
10:41He that receaueth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shal receaue a prophetes rewarde. He yt receaueth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, shal receane a righteous mans rewarde:
10:42And who soeuer geueth vnto one of the least of these a cupp of colde water onely to drinke, in ye name of a disciple, verely I saie vnto you: he shal not lose his rewarde.

10:1And whanne his twelue disciplis weren clepid togidere, he yaf to hem powere of vnclene spiritis, to caste hem out of men, and to heele eueri langour, and sijknesse.
10:2And these ben the names of the twelue apostlis; the firste, Symount, that is clepid Petre, and Andrew, his brothir; James of Zebede, and Joon, his brothir; Filip, and Bartholomeu;
10:3Thomas, and Matheu, pupplican; and James Alfey, and Tadee;
10:4Symount Chananee, and Judas Scarioth, that bitrayede Crist.
10:5Jhesus sente these twelue, and comaundide hem, and seide, Go ye not `in to the weie of hethene men, and entre ye not in to the citees of Samaritans;
10:6but rather go ye to the scheep of the hous of Israel, that han perischid.
10:7And go ye, and preche ye, and seie, that the kyngdam of heuenes shal neiye;
10:8heele ye sike men, reise ye deede men, clense ye mesels, caste ye out deuelis; freeli ye han takun, freli yyue ye.
10:9Nyle ye welde gold, nether siluer, ne money in youre girdlis, not a scrippe in the weie,
10:10nether twei cootis, nethir shoon, nether a yerde; for a werkman is worthi his mete.
10:11In to what euere citee or castel ye schulen entre, axe ye who therynne is worthi, and there dwelle ye, til ye go out.
10:12And whanne ye goon in to an hous, `grete ye it, and seyn, Pees to this hous.
10:13And if thilk hous be worthi, youre pees schal come on it; but if that hous be not worthi, youre pees schal turne ayen to you.
10:14And who euere resseyueth not you, nethir herith youre wordis, go ye fro that hous or citee, and sprenge of the dust of youre feet.
10:15Treuly Y seie to you, it shal be more suffrable to the loond of men of Sodom and of Gommor in the dai of iugement, than to thilke citee.
10:16Lo! Y sende you as scheep in the myddil of wolues; therfor be ye sliy as serpentis, and symple as dowues.
10:17But be ye war of men, for thei schulen take you in counseilis, and thei schulen bete you in her synagogis;
10:18and to meyris, or presidentis, and to kyngis, ye schulen be lad for me, in witnessyng to hem, and to the hethen men.
10:19But whanne thei take you, nyle ye thenke, hou or what thing ye schulen speke, for it shal be youun `to you in that our, what ye schulen speke;
10:20for it ben not ye that speken, but the spirit of youre fadir, that spekith in you.
10:21`And the brother shal take the brother in to deeth, and the fader the sone, and sones schulen rise ayens fadir and modir, and schulen turmente hem bi deeth.
10:22And ye schulen be in hate to alle men for my name; but he that shall dwelle stille in to the ende, shal be saaf.
10:23And whanne thei pursuen you in this citee, fle ye in to anothir. Treuli Y seie to you, ye schulen not ende the citees of Israel, to for that mannus sone come.
10:24The disciple is not aboue the maistir, ne the seruaunt aboue hys lord;
10:25it is ynowy to the disciple, that he be as his maistir, and to the seruaunt as his lord. If thei han clepid the hosebonde man Belsabub, hou myche more his houshold meyne?
10:26Therfor drede ye not hem; for no thing is hid, that schal not be shewid; and no thing is priuey, that schal not be wist.
10:27That thing that Y seie to you in derknessis, seie ye in the liyt; and preche ye on housis, that thing that ye heeren in the ere.
10:28And nyle ye drede hem that sleen the bodi; for thei moun not sle the soule; but rather drede ye hym, that mai lese bothe soule and bodi in to helle.
10:29Whether twei sparewis ben not seeld for an halpeny? and oon of hem shal not falle on the erthe with outen youre fadir.
10:30`And alle the heeris of youre heed ben noumbrid.
10:31nyle ye drede; ye ben betere than many sparewis.
10:32Therfor euery man that schal knouleche me bifore men, Y schal knouleche hym bifor my fadir that is in heuenes.
10:33But he that shal denye me bifor men, and I shal denye him bifor my fadir that is in heuenes.
10:34Nile ye deme, that Y cam to sende pees in to erthe; Y cam not to sende pees, but swerd.
10:35For Y cam to departe a man ayens his fadir, and the douytir ayens hir modir, and the sones wijf ayens the housbondis modir;
10:36and the enemyes of a man ben `thei, that ben homeli with him.
10:37He that loueth fadir or modir more than me, is not worthi to me. And he that loueth sone or douyter ouer me, is not worthi to me.
10:38And he that takith not his croos, and sueth me, is not worthi to me.
10:39He that fyndith his lijf, shal lose it; and he that lesith his lijf for me, shal fynde it.
10:40He that resseyueth you, resseyueth me; and he that resseyueth me, resseyueth hym that sente me.
10:41He that resseyueth a prophete in the name of a prophete, shal take the mede of a prophete. And he that resseyueth a iust man in the name of a iust man, schal take the mede of a iust man.
10:42And who euer yyueth drynke to oon of these leeste a cuppe of coolde watir oonli in the name of a disciple, treuli Y seie to you, he shal not leese his mede.
