11:1	& hit wæs geworðen þa se hælend þis ge-endyde hys twelf leorning-cnihtes be-beodende. hë for þanen þæt he lærde & bodede on heora burgan.
11:2	Ða Iohannes on benden ge-hyrde cristes weorc. þa sente he to hym twegen. his leorning-cnihtes.
11:3	& cwæð. Eart þu þe to cumene ert. oððe we oðres sculon abyden.
11:4	Se hælend answerede & cwæð to heom. gað & kyðað iohanne. þa þing þe ge ge-hyrden & ge-seagen.
11:5	Blinde ge-seoð. healte gað. hrefle synd aclensede. deafe ge-hereð. deade arisað. þærfen bodigeð.
11:6	& eadig ys se þe ne swicð Note: MS. swicd. on me.
11:7	Ða hyo ut-eoden soðlice þa on-gan se hælend seggen be Iohanne. & cwæð to þam menige. hwi eode ge ut on wæsten geseon winde aweged reod.
11:8	oððe hwi eode ge ut ge-seon man hnescen certlen ge-scridne. Nu þa þe sind hnescen certlen ge-scridde senden on kynges husen.
11:9	Ac hwæt geode ge ut witegan to ge-seon. ic eow segge eac mare þanne witegan.
11:10	þes is soðlice be þam awriten ys. nu ich sænde minne ængel be-foran þine anseone. se þe gerewað þinne weig beforen þe.
11:11	Soðliche ich eow segge ne aras be-twux wifen bearnen mare Iohanne þan fulluhtere. Soðlice se læsse ïs. is on heofene riche hym mare.
11:12	Soðlice fram iohannes dagen fulluhteres oð þis. heofene rice þoleð nead & strece nymað þæt.
11:13	Soðlice ealle witegan & lage. witegedan oððe iohannes.
11:14	& gyf ge willeð ge-lyfan he is helias þe to cumene ys.
11:15	se þe earan hæbbe to geherene ge-hyre.
11:16	Soðlice hwam telle ic þas cneornysse geliche. heo is gelich sittendon cnapen on foretige þa rymað to heora efenlicon.
11:17	& cweðeð. we sungen eow. & ge ne fricodon. & we cwyddun & ge ne weapan.
11:18	Soðlice iohannes com ne etende ne drinkende. & hyo cwæðan he hafð deofel-seocnysse.
11:19	Mannes sunu com etende & drinkende & hyo cweðeð. her is ætul man & win-drinkinde. manfulre & synfulre freond. & wisdom ys gerihtwiseð fram heora bearmen (sic).
11:20	Þa on-gan he hysfan þa burga on þam wæren gedon manega his mænega. for-þan þe hy ne deden deadbote.
11:21	Wa þe corozaim. wa þe bethsaida. for þam gyf on tyro & sydon wæren ge-done þa manige þe syndde don on eow. ge-fern hyo deden deadbote on hæren & on æscan.
11:22	Þeah ic segge ync tyre & sydonie byoð for-gyfendlicur on domes daig þanne eow.
11:23	Ænd þu capharnaum cweðst þu byost þu up-ahafan oððe heofone. ac þu niðer wurst oð helle. For-þan gyf on sodome lande wæren gedone þa manega þe gedone synd on þe. witodlice hyo wunedon oð þisne dayg.
11:24	Þeah-hwaþere ich segge eow þt sodome-wäre lande. beoð forgefendlichre on domes daig þanne þe.
11:25	Se hælend cwæð &sweriende. Ich andette þe drihten. heofenes & eorþan. þu þe byheddest þas þing fram wisen & gleawun. & onwruge þa litlingan.
11:26	Swa fæder for-þan hyt wæs swa ge-cweme be-foran þe.
11:27	Ealle þing me synde ge-sealde fram mine fæder. & nan man ne kan þanne sune buto se fader. ne nan man ne kan þanne fæder bute se sune. & þam þe se sune wile unwregan.
11:28	Cumeð to me ealle þa þe swinkeð & ge-seamede synd. & ich eow ge-blissige.
11:29	Nemeð min göc ofer eow. & leornigeð æt me. for-þam ich eom bylehwit & eadmod on heortan. & ge ge-metað reste owren sawlen.
11:30	Soðlice min goc is winsum & min berðene is leoht.


11:1	And it came to passe that when Iesus had made an ende of commaunding his twelue disciples, hee departed thence to teache and to preach in their cities.
11:2	And when Iohn heard in the prison the woorkes of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, and sayde vnto him,
11:3	Art thou he that shoulde come, or shall we looke for another?
11:4	And Iesus answering, said vnto them, Goe, and shewe Iohn, what things ye heare, and see.
11:5	The blinde receiue sight, and the halt doe walke: the lepers are clensed, and the deafe heare, the dead are raised vp, and the poore receiue the Gospel.
11:6	And blessed is he that shall not be offeded in me.
11:7	And as they departed, Iesus beganne to speake vnto the multitude, of Iohn, What went ye out into the wildernes to see? A reede shaken with the winde?
11:8	But what went ye out to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that weare soft clothing, are in Kings houses.
11:9	But what went ye out to see? A Prophet? Yea, I say vnto you, and more then a Prophet.
11:10	For this is he of whom it is written, Beholde, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11:11	Verely I say vnto you, among them which are begotten of women, arose there not a greater then Iohn Baptist: notwithstanding, he that is the least in the kingdome of heauen, is greater then he.
11:12	And from the time of Iohn Baptist hitherto, the kingdome of heauen suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
11:13	For all the Prophetes and the Lawe prophecied vnto Iohn.
11:14	And if ye will receiue it, this is that Elias, which was to come.
11:15	He that hath eares to heare, let him heare.
11:16	But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like vnto litle children which sit in the markets, and call vnto their fellowes,
11:17	And say, We haue piped vnto you, and ye haue not daunced, we haue mourned vnto you, and ye haue not lamented.
11:18	For Iohn came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a deuill.
11:19	The sonne of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Beholde a glutton and a drinker of wine, a friend vnto Publicanes and sinners: but wisedome is iustified of her children.
11:20	Then began he to vpbraide the cities, wherein most of his great workes were done, because they repented not.
11:21	Woe be to thee, Chorazin: Woe be to thee, Bethsaida: for if ye great workes, which were done in you, had bene done in Tyrus and Sidon, they had repented long agone in sackecloth and ashes.
11:22	But I say to you, It shalbe easier for Tyrus and Sidon at the day of iudgement, then for you.
11:23	And thou, Capernaum, which art lifted vp vnto heauen, shalt be brought downe to hell: for if the great workes, which haue bin done in thee, had bene done among them of Sodom, they had remained to this day.
11:24	But I say vnto you, that it shall be easier for them of the land of Sodom in the day of iudgement, then for thee.
11:25	At that time Iesus answered, and saide, I giue thee thankes, O Father, Lord of heauen and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and men of vnderstanding, and hast opened them vnto babes.
11:26	It is so, O Father, because thy good pleasure was such.
11:27	All things are giuen vnto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Sonne, but ye Father: neither knoweth any man ye Father, but the Sonne, and he to whom ye Sonne will reueile him.
11:28	Come vnto me, all ye that are wearie and laden, and I will ease you.
11:29	Take my yoke on you, and learne of me that I am meeke and lowly in heart: and ye shall finde rest vnto your soules.
11:30	For my yoke is easie, and my burden light.


11:1	And it came to passe when Iesus had made an ende of comaundinge his .xii. disciples that he departed thence to teache and to preache in their cities.
11:2	When Ihon beinge in preson hearde ye workes of Christ he sent two of his disciples
11:3	and sayde vnto him. Arte thou he that shall come: or shall we loke for another.
11:4	Iesus answered and sayde vnto them. Go and shewe Ihon what ye have hearde and sene.
11:5	The blynd se the halt goo the lepers are clensed: the deef heare the ded ryse ageyne and the glad tidinges is preached to the povre.
11:6	And happy is he that is not offended by me.
11:7	And as they departed Iesus begane to speake vnto the people of Ihon. What for to se wet ye out in to the wyldernes? wet ye out to se a rede shake with ye wynde?
11:8	other what wet ye out for to se? A man clothed in soofte raymet:? Beholde they yt weare soofte clothig are in kynges howses.
11:9	But what wet ye oute for to se? A prophete? Ye I saye to you and more the a prophete.
11:10	For this is he of who it is wrytte. Beholde I sende my messenger before thy face which shall prepare thy waye before ye.
11:11	Verely I saye vnto you amonge ye chyldren of wemen arose there not a gretter then Ihon the baptist. Notwithstondinge he that ys lesse in the kyngdome of heven ys gretter then he.
11:12	From the tyme of Ihon Baptist hytherto ye kyngdome of heve suffreth violence and they that go to it with violence pluck it vnto them.
11:13	For all the prophetes and the lawe prophesyed vnto to the tyme of Ihon.
11:14	Also yf ye wyll receave it this is Helyas which shuld come.
11:15	He yt hathe eares to heare let him heare.
11:16	But wher vnto shall I lyken this generacion? It ys lyke vnto chyldre which syt in the market and call vnto their felowes
11:17	and saye: we have pyped vnto you and ye have not daunsed? We have morned vnto you and ye have not sorowed.
11:18	For Ihon came nether eatinge nor drinkinge and they saye he hath the devyll.
11:19	The sonne of man came eatinge and drinkinge and they saye beholde a glutton and drynker of wyne and a frend vnto publicas and synners. Never the later wysdome ys iustified of hir children.
11:20	Then bega he to vpbrayd the cities in which most of his miracles were done because they meded not.
11:21	Wo be to ye Chorasin. Wo be to ye Betzaida: for if the miracles which were shewd in you had bene done in Tyre and Sidon they had repented longe agone in sackcloth and asshes.
11:22	Neverthelesse I say to you: it shall be esier for Tyre and Sidon at the day of iudgemet then for you.
11:23	And thou Capernau which art lift vp vnto heve shalt be brought doune to hell. For if the miracles which have bene done in the had bene shewed in zodom: they had remayned to this daye.
11:24	Neverthelesse I saye vnto you: it shalbe easiar for ye londe of zodo in the daye of iudgemet the for ye.
11:25	At yt tyme Iesus answered and sayd: I prayse ye o father lorde of heve and erth because thou hast hid these thinges fro the wyse and prudet and hast opened the vnto babes:
11:26	eve so father for so it pleased ye.
11:27	All thinges are geve vnto me of my father. And noma knoweth ye sonne but ye father: nether knoweth eny ma ye father save ye sonne and he to whome ye sonne will ope him.
11:28	Come vnto me all ye that laboure and are laden and I wyll ease you.
11:29	Take my yoke on you and lerne of me for I am meke and lowly in herte: and ye shall fynd rest vnto youre soules.
11:30	For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
