| 22:5 | But thei dispisiden, and wenten forth, oon in to his toun, anothir to his marchaundise. |

| 22:10 | And hise seruauntis yeden out in to weies, and gadriden togider alle that thei founden, good and yuele; and the bridale was fulfillid with men sittynge at the mete. |

| 22:15 | Thanne Farisees yeden awei, and token a counsel to take Jhesu in word. |
| 22:16 | And thei senden to hym her disciplis, with Erodians, and seien, Maister, we witen, that thou art sothefast, and thou techist in treuthe the weie of God, and thou chargist not of ony man, for thou biholdist not the persoone of men. |
| 22:17 | Therfor seie to vs, what it seemeth to thee. Is it leueful that tribute be youun to the emperoure, ether nay? |
| 22:18 | And whanne Jhesus hadde knowe the wickidnesse of hem, he seide, Ypocritis, what tempten ye me? |
| 22:19 | Schewe ye to me the prynte of the money. And thei brouyten to hym a peny. |
| 22:20 | And Jhesus seide to hem, Whos is this ymage, and the writyng aboue? |
| 22:21 | Thei seien to hym, The emperouris. Thanne he seide to hem, Therfor yelde ye to the emperoure tho thingis that ben the emperouris, and to God tho thingis that ben of God. |
| 22:22 | And thei herden, and wondriden; and thei leften hym, and wenten awey. |
| 22:23 | In that dai Saduceis, that seien there is no risyng ayen to lijf, camen to hym, and axiden him, |
| 22:24 | and seiden, Mayster, Moises seide, if ony man is deed, not hauynge a sone, that his brother wedde his wijf, and reise seed to his brothir. |
| 22:25 | And seuen britheren weren at vs; and the firste weddide a wijf, and is deed. And he hadde no seed, and lefte his wijf to his brother; |
| 22:26 | also the secounde, and the thridde, til to the seuenthe. |
| 22:27 | But the laste of alle, the woman is deed. |
| 22:28 | Also in the risyng ayen to lijf, whos wijf of the seuene schal sche be? for alle hadden hir. |
| 22:29 | Jhesus answeride, and seide to hem, Ye erren, `and ye knowen not scripturis, ne the vertu of God. |
| 22:30 | For in the rysyng ayen to lijf, nether thei schulen wedde, nethir schulen be weddid; but thei ben as the aungels of God in heuene. |
| 22:31 | And of the risyng ayen of deed men, `han ye not red, that is seid of the Lord, that seith to you, |
| 22:32 | Y am God of Abraham, and God of Ysaac, and God of Jacob? he is not God of deede men, but of lyuynge men. |
| 22:33 | And the puple herynge, wondriden in his techynge. |
| 22:34 | And Fariseis herden that he hadde put silence to Saduceis, and camen togidere. |
| 22:35 | And oon of hem, a techere of the lawe, axide Jhesu, and temptide him, |
| 22:36 | Maistir, which is a greet maundement in the lawe? |
| 22:37 | Jhesus seide to him, Thou schalt loue thi Lord God, of al thin herte, and in al thi soule, and in al thi mynde. |
| 22:38 | This is the firste and the moste maundement. |
| 22:39 | And the secounde is lijk to this; Thou schalt loue thi neiyebore as thi silf. |
| 22:40 | In these twey maundementis hangith al the lawe and the profetis. |
| 22:41 | And whanne the Farisees weren gederid togidere, Jhesus axide hem, |
| 22:42 | and seide, What semeth to you of Crist, whos sone is he? Thei seien to hym, Of Dauid. |
| 22:43 | He seith to hem, Hou thanne Dauid in spirit clepith hym Lord, |
| 22:44 | and seith, The Lord seide to my Lord, Sitte on my riythalf, til Y putte thin enemyes a stool of thi feet? |
| 22:45 | Thanne if Dauid clepith hym Lord, hou is he his sone? |
| 22:46 | And no man miyte answere a word to hym, nethir ony man was hardi fro that day, to axe hym more. |
| 22:1 | Then Iesus answered, and spake vnto them againe in parables, saying, |
| 22:2 | The kingdome of heauen is like vnto a certaine King which maried his sonne, |
| 22:3 | And sent foorth his seruants, to call them that were bidde to the wedding, but they woulde not come. |
| 22:4 | Againe hee sent foorth other seruants, saying. Tell them which are bidden, Beholde, I haue prepared my dinner: mine oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all thinges are readie: come vnto the mariage. |
| 22:5 | But they made light of it, and went their wayes, one to his farme, and another about his marchandise. |
| 22:6 | And the remnant tooke his seruants, and intreated them sharpely, and slewe them. |
| 22:7 | But when the King heard it, he was wroth, and sent foorth his warriers, and destroyed those murtherers, and burnt vp their citie. |
| 22:8 | Then saide hee to his seruants, Truely the wedding is prepared: but they which were bidden, were not worthy. |
| 22:9 | Go ye therefore out into the high wayes, and as many as ye finde, bid them to the mariage. |
| 22:10 | So those seruantes went out into the hie wayes, and gathered together all that euer they found, both good and bad: so the wedding was furnished with ghestes. |
| 22:11 | Then the King came in, to see the ghestes, and sawe there a man which had not on a wedding garment. |
| 22:12 | And he sayd vnto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither, and hast not on a wedding garment? And he was speachlesse. |
| 22:13 | Then sayd the King to the seruants, Binde him hand and foote: take him away, and cast him into vtter darkenes: there shalbe weeping and gnashing of teeth. |
| 22:14 | For many are called, but fewe chosen. |
| 22:15 | Then went the Pharises and tooke counsell how they might tangle him in talke. |
| 22:16 | And they sent vnto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we knowe that thou art true, and teachest the way of God truely, neither carest for any man: for thou considerest not the person of men. |
| 22:17 | Tell vs therefore, how thinkest thou? Is it lawfull to giue tribute vnto Cesar, or not? |
| 22:18 | But Iesus perceiued their wickednes, and sayd, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? |
| 22:19 | Shewe me the tribute money. And they brought him a peny. |
| 22:20 | And he sayde vnto them, Whose is this image and superscription? |
| 22:21 | They sayd vnto him, Cesars. Then sayd he vnto them, Giue therefore to Cesar, the things which are Cesars, and giue vnto God, those things which are Gods. |
| 22:22 | And when they heard it, they marueiled, and left him, and went their way. |
| 22:23 | The same day the Sadduces came to him (which say that there is no resurrection) and asked him, |
| 22:24 | Saying, Master, Moses sayd, If a man die, hauing no children, his brother shall marie his wife by the right of alliance, and raise vp seede vnto his brother. |
| 22:25 | Nowe there were with vs seuen brethren, and the first maried a wife, and deceased: and hauing none yssue, left his wife vnto his brother. |
| 22:26 | Likewise also the second, and the third, vnto the seuenth. |
| 22:27 | And last of all the woman died also. |
| 22:28 | Therefore in the resurrection, whose wife shall she be of the seuen? for all had her. |
| 22:29 | Then Iesus answered, and sayd vnto them, Ye are deceiued, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. |
| 22:30 | For in the resurrection they neither marie wiues, nor wiues are bestowed in mariage, but are as the Angels of God in heauen. |
| 22:31 | And concerning the resurrection of the dead, haue ye not read what is spoken vuto you of God, saying, |
| 22:32 | I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the liuing. |
| 22:33 | And when the multitude heard it, they were astonied at his doctrine. |
| 22:34 | But when the Pharises had heard, that he had put the Sadduces to silence, they assembled together. |
| 22:35 | And one of them, which was an expounder of the Lawe, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, |
| 22:36 | Master, which is ye great commandement in the Lawe? |
| 22:37 | Iesus sayd to him, Thou shalt loue the Lord thy God with all thine heart, with all thy soule, and with all thy minde. |
| 22:38 | This is the first and the great commandement. |
| 22:39 | And the second is like vnto this, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe. |
| 22:40 | On these two commandements hangeth the whole Lawe, and the Prophets. |
| 22:41 | While the Pharises were gathered together, Iesus asked them, |
| 22:42 | Saying, What thinke ye of Christ? whose sonne is he? They sayd vnto him, Dauids. |
| 22:43 | He sayd vnto them, How then doeth Dauid in spirit call him Lord, saying, |
| 22:44 | The Lord sayd to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footestoole? |
| 22:45 | If then Dauid call him Lord, howe is he his sonne? |
| 22:46 | And none could answere him a worde, neither durst any from that day foorth aske him any moe questions. |
| 22:1 | And Jesus responded and spoke to them again by parables and said: |
| 22:2 | "The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son," |
| 22:3 | and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they would not come." |
| 22:4 | Again, he sent out other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatted cattle are slaughtered, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage."' |
| 22:5 | But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his business." |
| 22:6 | And the rest took his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them." |
| 22:7 | But when the king heard about it, he was very angry. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city." |
| 22:8 | Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy." |
| 22:9 | Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you can find, invite to the marriage.'" |
| 22:10 | So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together everyone they could find, both bad and good. And the wedding was filled with guests." |
| 22:11 | "But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have a wedding garment on." |
| 22:12 | And he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless." |
| 22:13 | Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'" |
| 22:14 | "Because, many are called, but few are chosen." |
| 22:15 | Then the Pharisees went, and plotted how they might entangle Him in His speech. |
| 22:16 | And they sent out to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You gratify anyone, because You do not regard the person of men. |
| 22:17 | Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?" |
| 22:18 | But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, "Why do you test Me, you hypocrites?" |
| 22:19 | Show Me the tax money." So they gave a denarius to Him. |
| 22:20 | And He said to them, "Whose image and inscription is this?" |
| 22:21 | They said to Him, "Caesar's." Then He said to them, "Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." |
| 22:22 | When they had heard these words, they marveled, and left Him and went their way. |
| 22:23 | The same day the Sadducees who say that there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked Him, |
| 22:24 | saying: "Teacher, Moses said, that if a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother. |
| 22:25 | Now there were with us seven brothers. So the first died after he had married a wife, and having no offspring, left his wife to his brother. |
| 22:26 | Likewise the second also, and the third, until the seventh. |
| 22:27 | Then last of all the woman died also. |
| 22:28 | Therefore in the resurrection, whose wife of the seven shall she be, because they all had her?" |
| 22:29 | Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God." |
| 22:30 | Because, in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven." |
| 22:31 | But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying," |
| 22:32 | 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living." |
| 22:33 | And when the crowds heard this, they were astonished at His doctrine. |
| 22:34 | But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they were gathered together. |
| 22:35 | Then one of them, who was a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, |
| 22:36 | "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?" |
| 22:37 | Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'" |
| 22:38 | This is the first and great commandment." |
| 22:39 | And the second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'" |
| 22:40 | On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." |
| 22:41 | While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, |
| 22:42 | saying, "What do you think of Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "The Son of David." |
| 22:43 | He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him 'Lord,' saying:" |
| 22:44 | "The LORD said to my Lord, 'sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool?'" |
| 22:45 | If David then calls Him 'Lord,' how is He his Son?" |
| 22:46 | And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor did anyone ask Him any more questions from that day on. |
