8:1	Note: Cum turba multa esset cum iesu. Eft on þam dagen him wæs mide mycel manigeo. & næfden hwæt hyo æten. Ða cwæð he to-somne ge-clepeden his leorning-cnihten.
8:2	Ic ge-miltsie þisse manigeo. for þan hy þri dages me ambidiað. & næbbed hwæt hyo æten.
8:3	Gyf ich hyo fæstende to hyre huse læte be weige hyo ge-teorieð. sume hyo comen feorran.
8:4	þa andswerede him hys leorning-cnihtes. Hwanen maig anig man þas mid hlafen on þissen westen ge-fellen.
8:5	Þa axode he hyo hu fele hlafe hæbbe ge. hyo cwæðen seofen.
8:6	Þa het he sitten þa manige ofer þa eorðan. & nam þa seofe hlafes & gode þancede. & hyo bræc & sealde his leorning-cnihten. þt hyo to-foran heom asetten. & hyo swa dydon.
8:7	& hyo næfden buten feawe fisxe. & he þä bletsede. & het be-foren heom asetten. & hyo swa dyden.
8:8	& hyo æten & wurðen fylde. & hy namen þæt of þam brithmen (sic) be-laf seofen wilien fulle.
8:9	Soðlice þa þe þær æten. wæren feower þusendæ. & he hyo for-let.
8:10	End sone he on scyp mid his leorning-cnihten astah. & com on þa dæles dalmanu-ða.
8:11	& þa ferden þa farisei & on-gunnen mid hym smeagen. & tacne of hefene sohten & his fandeden.
8:12	Þa cwæð he reowsiende on his gaste. hwi secd þeos cneorys taken. Soðlice ic eow segge ne beoð þisse cneorisse tacen ge-seald.
8:13	& hyo þa for-lætende eft on scyp astah. & ferde ofer þanne muðan.
8:14	& hyo ofer-geaten þt hyo hlafes ne namen. & hyo næfden on scype mid heom buten ænne hlaf.
8:15	& he heom. bæd & cwæð. Lokiað & warniað fram farisea & herodes hæfe.
8:16	Þa þohten hyo be-tweoxe heom. & cwæðen. næbbe we nane hlafes.
8:17	þa se hælend þt wiste. he cwæð. hwæt þence ge for þan ge hlæfes næbbeð. gyt ge ne on-cnaweð ne on-gyteð. gyet ge hæbbeð eowre heorte ge-blende.
8:18	Eagen ge hæbbeð & ne ge-seoð. & earen & ge ne hereð. ne ge ne þenceð
8:19	hwanne ic bræc fif hlafes & twegen fixas. & hu fela wiligenne ge naman fulle. Hy cwæðon þa twelfe.
8:20	Ænd hwanne seofan hlafas feower þusende. & hu fele wiligene britsena ge namen fulle. hy saiden seofen.
8:21	Ða saigde he heom. hwi ne ongyte ge hyt.
8:22	& hyo comen þa to bethsaida. & hyo brohten hym þa ænne blindne. & hine bæden þt he hine æt-rine.
8:23	& þa æt-ran he þas blinden hand end lædde hine buton þa wic. & spætte on his eagen. & his hand on asette & hine axode. hwæder he aht ge-seage.
8:24	Ða quoth. he. þa þæ he hine be-seag. ic ge-seo men swilce treow gangende.
8:25	Eft he asette his hand ofer his eagen. & he ge-seah þa. & warð ge-eodneowed. swa þt he brihtlice eall ge-seah.
8:26	Ða sende he hine to his huse. & cwæd. ga to þinen huse. & þeah þu on tun gä nanen þu hit ne segge.
8:27	Þa eode he & his leorning-cnihtes on þt castell ceastre philippi. & he on weige his leorning-cnihtes axode. hwæt seggeð men þt ic syo.
8:28	Ða andswereden hyo. sume Johannem þanne fulluhtere. sume heliam. sume sumne of þam witegen.
8:29	Ða cwæð he. hwæt segge ge þt ic syo. Þa andswerede petrus hym. & quoth. Þu ert crist.
8:30	& þa bead he hym þt hyo nanen be him ne saigden.
8:31	Ða on-gan he hyo læren þt mannes sune ge-bered feole þinge þolien. & beo aworpen fram ealdor-mannen. & heah-sacerden. & bokeren. & beon of-slagen. & æfter þreom dagen arisan.
8:32	& spæcen þa openlice. & þa nam petrus hine. & gan hine þreatigen.
8:33	þa be-wende he hine & kydde petre. & quoth. Ga on bæcc sathanas for þan þu nast þa þing þe synde godes. Ac þa þing þe synde manne.
8:34	Ða cwæð he to-gædere ge-clepede manega mid his leorning-cnihten. Gyf hwa wile me felgien wið-sace hine sylfne. & nime his cwolmenge & folgie me.
8:35	Se þe wile his sawle hæle ge-don. se hyo for-spilð. Se þe for-spild his sawle for me. & for þam godspelle se hyo ge-hælð.
8:36	Hwæt fremed men þeah he ealne midden-eard ge-streonig. & do his sawle for-wurðe.
8:37	odðe hwilc ge-wrixl syld se man for his sawle.
8:38	Soðlice se þe me for-sihð & mine word on þisre unriht-hameðen & synfullen cneorysse. þane mannes sune for-sihð. þanne he cemð on his fader wulder mid his halgen ænglen.


8:1	In those dayes, when there was a very great multitude, and had nothing to eate, Iesus called his disciples to him, and said vnto them,
8:2	I haue compassion on the multitude, because they haue nowe continued with mee three dayes, and haue nothing to eate.
8:3	And if I sende them away fasting to their owne houses, they woulde faint by the way: for some of them came from farre.
8:4	Then his disciples answered him, Whence can a man satisfie these with bread here in the wildernes?
8:5	And hee asked them, Howe many loaues haue ye? And they said, Seuen.
8:6	Then he commanded the multitude to sit downe on the grounde: and hee tooke the seuen loaues, and gaue thankes, brake them, and gaue to his disciples to set before them, and they did set them before the people.
8:7	They had also a few small fishes: and when he had giuen thankes, he commanded them also to be set before them.
8:8	So they did eate, and were sufficed, and they tooke vp of the broken meate that was left, seuen baskets full.
8:9	(And they that had eaten, were about foure thousand) so he sent them away.
8:10	And anon he entred into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
8:11	And the Pharises came foorth, and began to dispute with him, seeking of him a signe from heauen, and tempting him.
8:12	Then hee sighed deepely in his spirit, and saide, Why doeth this generation seeke a signe? Verely I say vnto you, a signe shall not be giuen vnto this generation.
8:13	So he left them, and went into the ship againe, and departed to the other side.
8:14	And they had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the shippe with them, but one loafe.
8:15	And he charged them, saying, Take heede, and beware of the leauen of the Pharises, and of the leauen of Herod.
8:16	And they reasoned among themselues, saying, It is, because we haue no bread.
8:17	And when Iesus knew it, he said vnto them, Why reason you thus, because ye haue no bread? perceiue ye not yet, neither vnderstande? haue ye your hearts yet hardened?
8:18	Haue yee eyes, and see not? and haue yee eares, and heare not? and doe ye not remember?
8:19	When I brake the fiue loaues among fiue thousand, how many baskets full of broken meate tooke ye vp? They said vnto him, Twelue.
8:20	And when I brake seuen among foure thousande, howe many baskets of the leauings of broken meate tooke ye vp? And they said, Seuen.
8:21	Then he saide vnto them, Howe is it that ye vnderstand not?
8:22	And hee came to Bethsaida, and they brought a blinde man vnto him, and desired him to touch him.
8:23	Then he tooke the blinde by the hand, and ledde him out of the towne, and spat in his eyes, and put his handes vpon him, and asked him, if he sawe ought.
8:24	And he looked vp, and said, I see men: for I see them walking like trees.
8:25	After that, he put his hands againe vpon his eyes, and made him looke againe. And hee was restored to his sight, and sawe euery man a farre off clearely.
8:26	And hee sent him home to his house, saying, Neither goe into the towne, nor tell it to any in the towne.
8:27	And Iesus went out, and his disciples into the townes of Cesarea Philippi. And by the way hee asked his disciples, saying vnto them, Whome doe men say that I am?
8:28	And they answered, Some say, Iohn Baptist: and some, Elias: and some, one of the Prophets.
8:29	And he said vnto them, But whome say ye that I am? Then Peter answered, and saide vnto him, Thou art that Christ.
8:30	And he sharpely charged them, that concerning him they should tell no man.
8:31	Then hee began to teache them that the Sonne of man must suffer many things, and should be reproued of the Elders, and of the hie Priestes, and of the Scribes, and be slaine, and within three dayes rise againe.
8:32	And he spake that thing boldly. Then Peter tooke him aside, and began to rebuke him.
8:33	Then he turned backe, and looked on his disciples, and rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behinde me, Satan: for thou vnderstandest not the things that are of God, but the things that are of men.
8:34	And hee called the people vnto him with his disciples, and saide vnto them, Whosoeuer will follow me, let him forsake himselfe, and take vp his crosse, and follow me.
8:35	For whosoeuer will saue his life, shall lose it: but whosoeuer shall lose his life for my sake and the Gospels, he shall saue it.
8:36	For what shall it profite a man, though he should winne the whole world, if he lose his soule?
8:37	Or what exchange shall a man giue for his soule?
8:38	For whosoeuer shall be ashamed of mee, and of my wordes among this adulterous and sinfull generation, of him shall the Sonne of man be ashamed also, when he commeth in the glorie of his Father with the holy Angels.


8:1	In those dayes whe ther was a very greate companye and had nothinge to eate Iesus called his disciples to him and sayd vnto the:
8:2	I have copassion on this people because they have nowe bene with me .iii. dayes and have nothinge to eate:
8:3	And yf I shuld sende the awaye fastinge to their awne houses they shulde faynt by the waye. For dyvers of the came from farre.
8:4	And his disciples answered him: where shuld a man have breade here in the wildernes to satisfie these?
8:5	And he axed them: how many loves have ye? They sayde: seven.
8:6	And he commaunded the people to syt doune on the grounde. And he toke the .vii. loves gave thankes brake and gave to his disciples to set before them. And they dyd set the before the people.
8:7	And they had a feawe smale fysshes. And he blessed them and comaunded them also to be set before them.
8:8	And they ate and were suffysed: And they toke vp yf the broken meate that was lefte .vii. baskettes full.
8:9	And they yt ate were in nomber aboute fowre thousand. And he sent them awaye.
8:10	And a none he entred into a ship wt his disciples and came into the parties of Dalmanutha.
8:11	And the pharises cam forth and begane to dispute with him sekinge of him a signe fro heven and temptinge him.
8:12	And he sygthed in his sprete and sayde: why doth this generacion seke a signe? Verely I saye vnto you ther shall no signe be geven vnto this generacion.
8:13	And he lefte the and went into the ship agayne and departed over the water.
8:14	And they had forgotte to take breed wt the nether had they in the ship with them more then one loofe.
8:15	And he charged the sayinge. Take hede and beware of ye leven of ye pharises and of ye leve of Herode.
8:16	And they reasoned amonge the selves sayinge: we have no breed
8:17	And whe Iesus knewe yt he sayde vnto the: why take ye thought because ye have no bread? perceave ye not yet nether vnderstonde? Have ye youre hertes yet blynded?
8:18	Have ye eyes and se not? and have ye eares and heare not? Do ye not remember?
8:19	When I brake v. loves amonge .v.M. How many baskettes full of broke meate toke ye vp? They sayde vnto him twelve.
8:20	When I brake .vii. amonge .iiii. M. How many basketes of the levinges of broken meate toke ye vp? they sayde .vii.
8:21	And he sayde vnto the: how is it yt ye vnderstonde not?
8:22	And he came to Bethsaida and they brought a blynde man vnto him and desyred him to touche him.
8:23	And he caught the blynde by the honde and leade him out of the toune and spat in his eyes and put his hondes apon him and axed him whether he saw ought.
8:24	And he loked vp and sayde: I se ye men: For I se the walke as they were trees.
8:25	After that he put his hondes agayne apon his eyes and made him see. And he was restored to his sight and sawe every ma clerly.
8:26	And he sent him home to his housse sayinge: nether goo into the toune nor tell it to eny in the toune.
8:27	And Iesus went out and his disciples into the tounes that longe to the cite called Cesarea Philippi. Aud by the waye he axed his disciples sayinge: whom do men saye yt I am?
8:28	And they answered: some saye that thou arte Iohn Baptiste: some saye Helyas: and some one of the Prophetes.
8:29	And he sayde vnto the: But whom saye ye that I am? Peter answered and sayd vnto him: Thou arte very Christe.
8:30	And he charged them that they shuld tell no man of it.
8:31	And he beganne to teache them how that the sonne of man must suffre many thinges and shuld be reproved of the elders and of the hye prestes and scribes and be kylled and after thre dayes aryse agayne.
8:32	And he spake that sayinge openly. And Peter toke him asyde and began to chyde him.
8:33	Then he tourned aboute and looked on his disciples and rebuked Peter sayinge: Goo after me Satan. For thou saverest not ye thinges of God but the thinges of men.
8:34	And he called the people vnto him with his disciples also and sayd vnto them: Whosoever will folowe me let him forsake him sylfe and take vp his crosse and folowe me.
8:35	For whosoever will save his lyfe shall lose it But whosoever shall lose his lyfe for my sake and ye gospels ye same shall save it.
8:36	What shall it profet a ma yf he shuld wynne all ye worlde and loose his awne soule?
8:37	or els what shall a ma geve to redeme his soule agayne?
8:38	Whosoever therfore shall be asshamed of me and of my wordes amonge this advoutrous and sinfull generacion: of him shall the sonne of man be ashamed when he cometh in the glory of his father wt the holy angels.
