12:1	Note: Homo quidam plantauit uineam & sepem circumdedit. Þa on-gan he heom bispell seggen. Summan hym plantede wingeard. & be-tynde hine. & dealf ænne seað & tymbrede ænne stepel. & ge-sytte hine mid eorð-tilian. & ferde on æðelðeodinysse.
12:2	Ða sende he to þam tiligen his þeow on tide. þt he þas wingeardes wæstme on-fenge.
12:3	þa swungen hyo þane & for-leten hine ydel-hende.
12:4	And eft he heom sende oðerne þeow. & hyo þane on heafde ge-wundeden. & mid teonen ge-swencten.
12:5	Ænd eft he heom sumne sende & hy þane of-slogen. & manege oðre. sume hyo beoten. sume hyo of-slogen.
12:6	Þa hæfde he þa gyt ænne leofestne sune. þa sende he æt þam nexten heom þane. & cwæð. Witodlice mine sune hyo for-wandigeð.
12:7	Ða cwæðen þa tilien. heom be-tweonen. Her is se earfednume uton of-slean hine. þanne beoð ure syo earfweardnys.
12:8	Hyo þa of-slogen hine. & wurpen wið-ute þanne wingeard.
12:9	hwæt deð þas wingeardes hlaford. he cymð & for-deð þa tiligen. & sylð oþren þanne wingeard.
12:10	Ne redde ge þis ge-writ. Se stan þe þa werhten awurpen þes is ge-worðen on þare herne heafed.
12:11	þis is fram drihten ge-worðen. & hyt is wunderlic on uren eagen.
12:12	Þa smægdon hyo þt hy ge-fengen hine. & hyo on-drædden þa manige hyo on-cneowen þa þt he þis bispell be heom saigde. hyo ferden þa & hine for-leten.
12:13	Ða sænden hyo to him sume of fariseum & herodianum. þt hyo be-fengen hine on his worden.
12:14	Ða comen hyo & þus mid facne cwæðen. Lareow we witen þt þu ert sodfæst & þu ne recst be anigen men. ne be-sceawest þu manne ansiene. ac þu godes weig lærst. on sodfæstnesse. Alyfð gafol syllen þan caisere
12:15	hwæðer þe we ne syllað. Þa cwæð he & heora lotwrences wyste. hwi fandige min. bringeð me þanne panig þt ich hine ge-seo.
12:16	þa brohten hyo him. Þa saigde he heom. hwæt is þeos anlycnyss. & þis ge-writ. Hy cwæðen þas caiseres.
12:17	Ða cwæð se hælend to heom. Agyfeð þam caisere þa þing þe þas caiseres synde. & gode þe godes synde. þa wundredon hyo be þam.
12:18	Þa comen hym to saducej. þa saiggoð þt æriste ne syo. & hyo axoden. & þus cwæðen.
12:19	Lareow moyses us wrat. Gyf hwæs broðer dead byoð. & leafð his wif & næfð nan bearn. þt hys broðer nyme his wif. & his broðer sæd wecce.
12:20	Eornestlice seofe broðre wæren & se areste þa nam wif & warð dead. ne læfden sæde.
12:21	þa nam se oðer hyo & warð dead. ne se sæd ne læfde. Ge-lice se ðridðe.
12:22	& ealle seofene hyo hæfden & sæd ne læfden. Ealre eftemesta þa forð-ferde þt wif.
12:23	On þam æriste hwilces þare seofene bið þt wif. hyo ealle hyo hæfden.
12:24	Þa andswerede heom se hælend hu ne dweleged ge. for þan þe ge nyten þa halgen ge-write ne godes mægen.
12:25	Soðlice þanne hyo of deaðe ariseð ne wifieð hyo ne ne yftigeð ac hyo synde swilce godes ængles on heofenen.
12:26	Be þam deaðen þæt hyo arised ne ræde ge on moyseses boc. hu god to heom cwæð. ofer þanne gorst-beam. Ic eom abrahames god. & ysaces god. & Iacobes god.
12:27	nis god deadre. ac he is libbendra soðlice swiðe ge dwelieð.
12:28	Þa ge-nehlahte him an of þam bokeren þe ge-herde hyo smegende. & ge-seah þt he heom wel andswerede. & acxode hine hwæt wære ealre be-bode mæst.
12:29	Þa andswerede he hym. þt is þt mæste be-bod ealre israele ge-herie urne drihten god. he is an god.
12:30	& lufe þinne drihten god. of ælre þinre heorten. & of ealre þinre sawle. & eallen þinen mode. & of eallen þinen maigne. þt is þt fermeste be-bod.
12:31	Soðlice is oðer þisen ge-lic. lufe þinne nexten swa þe sylfne. nis oðer mare be-bod.
12:32	Ða cwæð se bokere. lareow wel þu on soðe cwæðe. þæt an god is & nis oðer buten him.
12:33	& þt he si ge-lufod of eallen heorten. & of eallen andgytte. & of ealre sawle. & of ealre strencðe. & lufian his nextan swa hine sylfne. þt is mare eallen on-sægdnyssen & offrungen.
12:34	Þa se hælend ge-seah þt he hym wislice andswerede he saigde hym ne ert þu feor fram godes rice. & hine ne dorste nan man axian.
12:35	þa cwæð se hælend on þam temple lærende. hu seggeð þa boceres þt crist sy dauiðes sune.
12:36	Dauid self cwæð to þam halgen gaste. Drihten cwæð to minen drihtene site on minen swidren healfe. odðe ic þine feond asette to fot-scamele þinre fote.
12:37	Dauid self nemde hine drihten. & hwanen is he his sunu. & micel menige hine lufelice ge-herde.
12:38	Ða sæde he heom on his lare. Warnieð fram boceren. þa willeð on ge-gyrtlen gan & beon on stræte ge-grette.
12:39	& on fermesten lareow-setlen sitten on ge-samnungen. & þa fyrmesten setlen on beorscipen.
12:40	þa þe wudewena hus for-swelged mid heora langsumen ge-bedan. Þa on-foð længestne dom.
12:41	Ða sæt se hælend on-gean þane tol-scamel. & ge-seah hu þt folc hire feoh torfede on þane tol-scamel. & manige weliga torfeden fela.
12:42	ða com an earm wudewe and warp twege feorþinges.
12:43	Ða cleopede he his leorning-cnihtes & saide heom. Soðlice ic eow segge þæt þeos earme wudewe ealre mest brohte þare þe on þanne toll-scamel brohte.
12:44	Ealle senden of þan þe hyo ge-noh hæfden. Soðlice þeos of hire ermðe eall þæt hyo hæfde sealde ealle hire and-lyfene.


12:1	And he began to speake vnto them in parables, A certaine man planted a vineyard, and copassed it with an hedge, and digged a pit for the winepresse, and built a tower in it, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a strange countrey.
12:2	And at the time, he sent to the husbandmen a seruant, that he might receiue of the husbandmen of the fruite of the vineyard.
12:3	But they tooke him, and beat him, and sent him away emptie.
12:4	And againe he sent vnto them another seruant, and at him they cast stones, and brake his head, and sent him away shamefully handled.
12:5	And againe he sent another, and him they slew, and many other, beating some, and killing some.
12:6	Yet had he one sonne, his deare beloued: him also he sent the last vnto them, saying, They will reuerence my sonne.
12:7	But ye husbandmen said among themselues, This is the heire: come, let vs kill him, and the inheritance shalbe ours.
12:8	So they tooke him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
12:9	What shall then the Lord of the vineyard doe? He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and giue the vineyard to others.
12:10	Haue ye not read so much as this Scripture? The stone which the builders did refuse, is made the head of the corner.
12:11	This was done of the Lord, and it is marueilous in our eyes.
12:12	Then they went about to take him, but they feared the people: for they perceiued that he spake that parable against them: therefore they left him, and went their way.
12:13	And they sent vnto him certaine of the Pharises, and of ye Herodians that they might take him in his talke.
12:14	And when they came, they saide vnto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou considerest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God truely, Is it lawfull to giue tribute to Cesar, or not?
12:15	Should we giue it, or should we not giue it? but he knew their hypocrisie, and said vnto them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me a peny, that I may see it.
12:16	So they brought it, and he said vnto them, Whose is this image and superscription? and they said vnto him, Cesars.
12:17	Then Iesus answered, and saide vnto them, Giue to Cesar the things that are Cesars, and to God, those that are Gods: and they marueiled at him.
12:18	Then came the Sadduces vnto him, (which say, there is no resurrection) and they asked him, saying,
12:19	Master, Moses wrote vnto vs, If any mans brother die, and leaue his wife, and leaue no children, that his brother should take his wife, and rayse vp seede vnto his brother.
12:20	There were seuen brethren, and the first tooke a wife, and when he died, left no issue.
12:21	Then the seconde tooke her, and he died, neither did he yet leaue issue, and the third likewise:
12:22	So those seuen had her, and left no yssue: last of all the wife died also.
12:23	In the resurrection then, when they shall rise againe, whose wife shall she be of them? for seuen had her to wife.
12:24	Then Iesus answered, and saide vnto them, Are ye not therefore deceiued, because ye knowe not the Scriptures, neither the power of God?
12:25	For when they shall rise againe from the dead, neither men marry, nor wiues are married, but are as the Angels which are in heauen.
12:26	And as touching the dead, that they shall rise againe, haue ye not read in the booke of Moses, howe in the bush God spake vnto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob?
12:27	God is not ye God of the dead, but the God of the liuing. Ye are therefore greatly deceiued.
12:28	Then came one of the Scribes that had heard them disputing together, and perceiuing that he had answered them well, he asked him, Which is the first commandement of all?
12:29	Iesus answered him, The first of all the commandements is, Heare, Israel, The Lord our God is the onely Lord.
12:30	Thou shalt therefore loue the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy minde, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandement.
12:31	And the second is like, that is, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe. There is none other commandement greater then these.
12:32	Then that Scribe said vnto him, Well, Master, thou hast saide the trueth, that there is one God, and that there is none but he,
12:33	And to loue him with all the heart, and with all the vnderstanding, and with all the soule, and with all the strength, and to loue his neighbour as himselfe, is more then all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
12:34	Then when Iesus saw that he answered discreetely, he saide vnto him, Thou art not farre from the kingdome of God. And no man after that durst aske him any question.
12:35	And Iesus answered and said teaching in the Temple, Howe say the Scribes that Christ is the sonne of Dauid?
12:36	For Dauid himselfe said by ye holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footestoole.
12:37	Then Dauid himselfe calleth him Lord: by what meanes is he then his sonne? and much people heard him gladly.
12:38	Moreouer he saide vnto them in his doctrine, Beware of the Scribes which loue to goe in long robes, and loue salutations in the markets,
12:39	And the chiefe seates in the Synagogues, and the first roumes at feastes,
12:40	Which deuoure widowes houses, euen vnder a colour of long prayers. These shall receiue the greater damnation.
12:41	And as Iesus sate ouer against the treasurie, he beheld how the people cast money into the treasurie, and many rich men cast in much.
12:42	And there came a certaine poore widowe, and she threw in two mites, which make a quadrin.
12:43	Then he called vnto him his disciples, and said vnto them, Verely I say vnto you, that this poore widowe hath cast more in, then all they which haue cast into the treasurie.
12:44	For they all did cast in of their superfluitie: but she of her pouertie did cast in all that she had, euen all her liuing.


12:1	And he beganne to speake vnto them in similitudes. A certayne man planted a vineyarde and copased it with an hedge and ordeyned a wyne presse and bylt a toure in yt. And let yt out to hyre vnto husbandme and went into a straunge countre.
12:2	And when the tyme was come he sent to the tennauntes a servaunt that he myght receave of the tenauntes of the frute of the vyneyarde.
12:3	And they caught him and bet him and sent him agayne emptye.
12:4	And moreoever he sent vnto them another servaunt and at him they cast stones and brake his heed and sent him agayne all to revyled.
12:5	And agayne he sent another and him they kylled: and many other beetynge some and kyllinge some.
12:6	Yet had he one sonne whom he loved tenderly him also he sent at the last vnto them sayinge: they wyll feare my sonne.
12:7	But the tenauntes sayde amongest them selves: this is the heyre: come let vs kyll hym and ye inheritauce shalbe oures.
12:8	And they toke him and kyllid him and cast him out of the vyneyarde.
12:9	What shall then the lorde of the vyneyarde do? He will come and destroye ye tenauntes and let out the vyneyarde to other.
12:10	Have ye not redde this scripture? The stoone which ye bylders dyd refuse is made ye chefe stoone in ye corner:
12:11	this was done of ye Lorde and is mervelous in oure eyes.
12:12	And they went about to take him but they feared the people. For they perceaved that he spake that similitude agaynst them. And they left him and went their waye.
12:13	And they sent vnto him certayne of ye Pharises with Herodes servantes to take him in his wordes.
12:14	And assone as they were come they sayd vnto him: master we knowe yt thou arte true and carest for no man: for thou consyderest not the degre of men but teachest the waye of God truly: Ys it laufull to paye tribute to Cesar or not?
12:15	Ought we to geve or ought we not to geve? He vnderstode their simulacion and sayde vnto them: Why tepte ye me? Brynge me a peny that I maye se yt.
12:16	And they brought. And he sayde vnto them: Whose ys thys ymage and superscripcion? And they sayde vnto him Cesars.
12:17	And Iesus answered and saide vnto the: Then geve to Cesar that which belongeth to Cesar: and to God that which perteyneth to God. And they mervelled at him.
12:18	Then came the Saduces vnto him which saye ther is no resurreccion. And they axed hym sayinge:
12:19	Master Moses wroote vnto vs yf eny mans brother dye and leve his wyfe behinde him and leve no chyldren: that then hys brother shuld take his wyfe and reyse vp seed vnto his brother.
12:20	Ther were seven brethren: and the fyrst toke a wyfe and when he dyed leeft no seed behynde him.
12:21	And the seconde toke hir and dyed: nether leeft eny seed. And the thyrde lyke wyse.
12:22	And seve had her and leeft no seed behynde them. Last of all the wyfe dyed also.
12:23	In the resurreccio then when they shall ryse agayne: whose wyfe shall she be of them? For seven had her to wyfe.
12:24	Iesus answered and sayde vnto them: Are ye not therfore deceaved and vnderstonde not the scryptures nether the power of God?
12:25	For when they shall ryse agayne fro deeth they nether mary nor are maryed: but are as the angels which are in heven.
12:26	As touchynge the deed that they shall ryse agayne: have ye not redde in the boke of Moses howe in the busshe God spake vnto him sayinge: I am the God of Abraham and God of Ysaac and the God of Iacob?
12:27	He is not the God of the deed but the God of the livynge. Ye are therfore greatly deceaved.
12:28	And ther came one of the scribes that had hearde them disputynge to gedder and perceaved that he had answered them well and axed him: Which is the fyrste of all the commaundemetes?
12:29	Iesus answered him: the fyrste of all the comaundementes is. Heare Israel: The Lorde God is one Lorde.
12:30	And thou shalt love the Lorde thy God with all thy hert and with all thy soule and with all thy mynde and with all thy strength. This is the fyrste commaundement.
12:31	And the seconde is lyke vnto this: Thou shalt love thy neghbour as thy silfe. Ther is none other commaundement greater then these.
12:32	And the Scribe sayde vnto him: well master thou hast sayd ye truthe that ther ys one God and that ther is none but he.
12:33	And to love him with all the herte and with all the mynde and with all the soule and with all the stregth: and to love a mans neghbour as him silfe ys a greater thinge then all burntofferings and sacrifices.
12:34	And when Iesus sawe that he answered discretly he sayde vnto him: Thou arte not farre from the kyngdome of God. And no man after that durst axe him eny questio.
12:35	And Iesus answered and sayde teachynge in the temple: how saye the Scribes yt Christ is the sonne of David?
12:36	for David him selfe inspyred with the holy goost sayde: The Lorde sayde to my Lorde syt on my right honde tyll I make thyne enemyes thy fote stole.
12:37	Then David hym silfe calleth him Lorde: and by what meanes is he then his sonne? And moche people hearde him gladly.
12:38	And he sayde vnto them in his doctrine: beware of the Scribes which love to goo in longe clothinge: and love salutacions in ye market places
12:39	and the chefe seates in the synagoges and to syt in the vppermost roumes at feastes
12:40	and devoure widowes houses and that vnder coloure of longe prayinge. These shall receave greater dampnacion.
12:41	And Iesus sat over agaynst the treasury and behelde how the people put money in to the treasury. And many that were ryche cast in moch.
12:42	And ther cam a certayne povre widowe and she threwe in two mytes which make a farthynge.
12:43	And he called vnto him his disciples and sayde vnto them: Verely I saye vnto you that this pover widowe hath cast moare in then all they which have caste into the treasury.
12:44	For they all dyd cast in of their superfluyte: but she of her poverte dyd cast in all that she had eve all her livynge.
