6:1	Soðlice wæs ge-worðen on þam æfteren reste-daige; ærest þa ferde he þurh þa æceras hys leorning-cnihtes þa ear pluccoden. & mid heora handa gnidon & æten.
6:2	Ða cwæðen sume of þam sunder-halgen. hwi do ge þæt eow alyfd nis on reste-dagen.
6:3	Ða andswerede se hælend heom & cwæð. Ne redde ge hwæt dauid dyde þa him hingrede. & þa þe mid him wæron
6:4	hu he eode into godes huse & nam þa offrenge-hlafes & hyo æt. & þam sealde þe mid him wæren. þa næren alyfde to ætene buton sacerden. anen.
6:5	Ænd he saigde heom þæt drihten is mannes sune. eac swilce reste-daiges.
6:6	Soðlice on oðrum reste-daige wæs ge-worðen. þæt he on ge-samnunge eode. & lærde. & þær wæs sum man. & his swiðre hand wæs for-scrunken.
6:7	Ða gemden þa bokeras & pharisei hwaðer he on reste-daige helde þæt hyo hine wreidon.
6:8	Soðlice he wiste heore þances & he saide þam men þe þa forscrunkene hand hafde. aris & stand her amidden. Ða aras he & stod.
6:9	Ða cwæð se hælend to hem Note: MS. him, alt. to hem. . Ich acsie eow alyfð on reste-dagon wel don oððe yfele sawle hæle ge-don hwæder þe forspillan.
6:10	And heom eallon ge-sceawedon mid eorre he saigde þam men. Aþene þine hand; & he aþenede & hys hand wæs ednywod.
6:11	Note: Ibat iesus in ciuitatem que uocatur naym. Ða wurðen hyo mid unwisdome ge-fyllede & spræcen be-twux heom hwæt hyo þam hælende dydon.
6:12	Soðlice on þam dagen he ferde on ænne munt. hine ge-byddan. & wæs þær wakiende on godes ge-bede.
6:13	Ænd þa þa hit daig wæs he cleopede his leorning-cnihtes & ge-cheas twelf of heom. & þa he nemnede apostles.
6:14	Simonem þanne he nemnede petrus. & his broðer andreas. Iacobum. & Iohannem. philippum & bartholomeum.
6:15	Thomam & Matheum. Iacobum alphei & symonem. se ys ge-nemned zelotes
6:16	Iudam Iacocobi (sic). & Iudam scarioth. se wæs læwa.
6:17	And mid heom farenden he stod on feldlicere stowe & micel werd hys leorning-cnihte & mycele manega fram alre iudea. & fram ierusalem & ofer muðan & sæ. ge-mare tyry & sydonis. þa comen þæt hyo hyne ge-hyrdon & wæren of heora adlen ge-hælde.
6:18	& þa þe waren of un-clænen gaste ge-drehte wæren ge-hælede.
6:19	Note: Misit iohannes duos de discipulis suis ad iesum dicens. tu es qui uenturus es an alium expectamus. Ænd seo manegeo sohte hine to æt-hrinnenne. for þam þe mægen of hym eode. & he ealle ge-hælde.
6:20	Ða cwæð se hælend beo-seonde to hys leorning-cnihton. Eadige synde ge þearfen on gaste. for þan þe godes rïce is eower.
6:21	Eadige synde ge þe hingrieð nu. for þam ge beoð ge-fyllede. Eadige synde ge þe nu wepad; for þam ge hlyhað.
6:22	Eadige beo ge þanne eow men hatiað & ehtað. & on-huscað. & awurped eowre namen swa swa yfel for mannes sune.
6:23	Ge-blissiad & ge-fageniad on þam dagen; nu eower mede is mycel on heofene. Soðlice æfter þisen þingen hyra faderes dydon þam witegan.
6:24	Þeah-hwæðere wa eow witegan. for þan þe ge eowwerne frofer hæbbeð.
6:25	Wa eow þe ge-fylde sinde; for þan þe ge hingriað. Wa eow þe nu hlehgad for þan þe ge heofað & wepeð.
6:26	Wa eow þanne eow ealle men bletsiað æfter þisen þingen heora fæderes dyden þam witegen.
6:27	Ac ic eow segge for þam þe ge hyrad. Lufiað eowre feond doð þam tæle þe eow hatedon.
6:28	Bletsieð þa þe eow weregieð. Ge-biððed for þam þe eow on-huscieð.
6:29	& þam þe þe slehð on þam wange. wend oðer agen. & þam þe þin reaf nymð ne for-beod him na þine tunecan.
6:30	Syle ælcen þe þe bidde. & se þe nymd þa þing þe þine synde ne munega þu hyra.
6:31	& swa eow willeð þt eow men do; doð hem ge-lice.
6:32	& hwilc þanc is eow gyf ge lufieð þa þe eow lufieð. Soðlice senfulle lufieð; þa þe hy lufieð.
6:33	And gif ge wel doð þan þe eow wel doð; hwilc þanc is eow. Witodlice þæt doð sinfulle.
6:34	& gyf ge leaneð þam þe ge eft on-foð; hwilc þanc is eow. Soðlice sinfulle sinfulle leaneð. þæt hyo gelice on-fon.
6:35	Þeah-hwæðere lufiað eowre feond. & heom wel doð. & leane sylled nan þing þanum (sic) eft ge-hihtende. & eower mede beod mycel on heofene. & ge beoð þas hegesten bearn. for þam þe he ys god ofer unþanc-fulle & ofer yfele.
6:36	Eornestlice beoð mildheorte swa eower fader is mildheort.
6:37	Nelle ge demen. & ge ne beoð demede. Nelle ge nyðerien. & ge ne beoð ge-nyðereð. For-gyfeð; ænd eow beoð for-gefen.
6:38	Selleð & eow beoð ge-seald. göd ge-met & full & ge-heapod. & ofer-flowende hyo sylled on eowrne bearm. Þam sylfen ge-mette þe ge meteð; eow beoð ge-metan.
6:39	Ða sæde he heom sum by-spell. Segst þu maig se blinde þane blinde læden. hu ne fealled hyo begen on þanne pet.
6:40	Nis se leorning-cniht ofer þanne lareow. ælc byð fulfremed gyf he is swilc hys lareow.
6:41	hwi ge-syhst þu þa eigle on þines broðer eagen. & ne syhst þænne beam on þynen eagen.
6:42	Ænd hu myht þu seggen þinen breðer. broðer læt þæt ïc ateo þa eigle of þinen eagen. & ðu self ne ge-syhst þanne beam on þinen eagenen eagen. Eala licetere teoh ærest þanne beam of þinen eage. & þanne þu ge-syhst þæt þu ateo þa eigle of þines broðor eage.
6:43	Nïs god treow þæt yfelne wæstm deð. & nis yfel treow godne wæstm doende.
6:44	Ælc treow is be hys wæstme on-cnawen. Ne hyo of þornen fic-æppel ne gaderieð. ne winberian of gorste ne nymeð.
6:45	göd man of goden goldhorde; hys heorte god forð-brincð. & yfele men of yfele goldhorde yfel forð-bringeð. Soðlice se muð specð swa swa sye heorte þencð.
6:46	Hwy clepie ge me drihten drihten & ne doð þæt ic eow segge.
6:47	Ælc þare þe to me kymð. & mine spræce ge-hyrð & þa deð. ïch hym ätewie hwam he ge-lic ys.
6:48	He ys gelïc tymbriende men hys hus se dealf deopne & his grundwall ofer þanne stan asette. Soðlice ge-worðene flode hit fleow in-to þam huse. & hit ne mihte þt hus astyrian hit wæs ofer þanne stan ge-trymed.
6:49	Se ðe ge-hyrð & ne deð; he is ge-lich þam tymbrienden men his hus ofer þa eorðen buton grundwalle. & þt flod in-fleow & rædlice hit afeol & warð mycel ryre þas huses.


6:1	And it came to passe on a second solemne Sabbath, that hee went through the corne fieldes, and his disciples plucked the eares of corne, and did eate, and rub them in their hands.
6:2	And certaine of the Pharises sayde vnto them, Why doe ye that which is not lawfull to doe on the Sabbath dayes?
6:3	Then Iesus answered them, and said, Haue ye not read this, that Dauid did when he himselfe was an hungred, and they which were with him,
6:4	Howe he went into the house of God, and tooke, and ate the shewbread, and gaue also to them which were with him, which was not lawful to eate, but for the Priests onely?
6:5	And he sayd vnto them, The Sonne of man is Lord also of the Sabbath day.
6:6	It came to passe also on another Sabbath, that hee entred into the Synagogue, and taught, and there was a man, whose right hand was dryed vp.
6:7	And the Scribes and Pharises watched him, whether he would heale on the Sabbath day, that they might finde an accusation against him.
6:8	But he knew their thoughts, and sayd to the man which had the withered hand, Arise, and stand vp in the middes. And hee arose, and stoode vp.
6:9	Then sayd Iesus vnto them, I will aske you a question, Whether is it lawfull on the Sabbath dayes to doe good, or to doe euill? to saue life, or to destroy?
6:10	And he behelde them all in compasse, and sayd vnto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he did so, and his hand was restored againe, as whole as the other.
6:11	Then they were filled full of madnes, and communed one with another, what they might doe to Iesus.
6:12	And it came to passe in those dayes, that he went into a mountaine to praye, and spent the night in prayer to God.
6:13	And when it was day, he called his disciples, and of them he chose twelue which also he called Apostles.
6:14	(Simon whome he named also Peter, and Andrew his brother, Iames and Iohn, Philippe and Bartlemewe:
6:15	Matthewe and Thomas: Iames the sonne of Alpheus, and Simon called Zelous,
6:16	Iudas Iames brother, and Iudas Iscariot, which also was the traitour.)
6:17	Then he came downe with them, and stood in a plaine place, with the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Iudea, and Hierusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyrus and Sidon, which came to heare him, and to be healed of their diseases:
6:18	And they that were vexed with foule spirits, and they were healed.
6:19	And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went vertue out of him, and healed them all.
6:20	And hee lifted vp his eyes vpon his disciples, and sayd, Blessed be ye poore: for yours is the kingdome of God.
6:21	Blessed are ye that hunger nowe: for ye shalbe satisfied: blessed are ye that weepe now: for ye shall laugh.
6:22	Blessed are ye when men hate you, and when they separate you, and reuile you, and put out your name as euill, for the Sonne of mans sake.
6:23	Reioyce ye in that day, and be glad: for beholde, your reward is great in heauen: for after this maner their fathers did to the Prophets.
6:24	But wo be to you that are rich: for ye haue receiued your consolation.
6:25	Wo be to you that are full: for ye shall hunger. Wo be to you that now laugh: for ye shall wayle and weepe.
6:26	Wo be to you when all men speake well of you: for so did their fathers to the false prophets.
6:27	But I say vnto you which heare, Loue your enemies: doe well to them which hate you.
6:28	Blesse them that curse you, and pray for them which hurt you.
6:29	And vnto him that smiteth thee on ye one cheeke, offer also the other: and him that taketh away thy cloke, forbid not to take thy coate also.
6:30	Giue to euery man that asketh of thee: and of him that taketh away the things that be thine, aske them not againe.
6:31	And as ye would that men should doe to you, so doe ye to them likewise.
6:32	For if yee loue them which loue you, what thanke shall ye haue? for euen the sinners loue those that loue them.
6:33	And if ye do good for them which do good for you, what thanke shall ye haue? for euen the sinners doe the same.
6:34	And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receiue, what thanke shall yee haue? for euen the sinners lend to sinners, to receiue the like.
6:35	Wherefore loue ye your enemies, and doe good, and lend, looking for nothing againe, and your rewarde shalbe great, and ye shalbe the children of the most High: for he is kinde vnto the vnkinde, and to the euill.
6:36	Be ye therefore mercifull, as your Father also is mercifull.
6:37	Iudge not, and ye shall not be iudged: condemne not, and ye shall not bee condemned: forgiue, and ye shalbe forgiuen.
6:38	Giue, and it shalbe giuen vnto you: a good measure, pressed downe, shaken together and running ouer shall men giue into your bosome: for with what measure ye mete, with the same shall men mete to you againe.
6:39	And he spake a parable vnto them, Can the blinde leade the blinde? shall they not both fall into the ditche?
6:40	The disciple is not aboue his master: but whosoeuer will be a perfect disciple, shall bee as his master.
6:41	And why seest thou a mote in thy brothers eye, and considerest not the beame that is in thine owne eye?
6:42	Either howe canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou seest not the beame that is in thine owne eye? Hypocrite, cast out the beame out of thine owne eye first, and then shalt thou see, perfectly to pull out the mote that is in thy brothers eye.
6:43	For it is not a good tree that bringeth foorth euill fruite: neither an euill tree, that bringeth foorth good fruite.
6:44	For euery tree is knowen by his owne fruite: for neither of thornes gather men figges, nor of bushes gather they grapes.
6:45	A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth foorth good, and an euill man out of the euill treasure of his heart bringeth foorth euill: for of the aboundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
6:46	But why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things that I speake?
6:47	Whosoeuer commeth to mee, and heareth my wordes, and doeth the same, I will shewe you to whome he is like:
6:48	He is like a man which built an house, and digged deepe, and layde the fundation on a rocke: and when the waters arose, the flood beat vpon that house, and coulde not shake it: for it was grounded vpon a rocke.
6:49	But hee that heareth and doeth not, is like a man that built an house vpon the earth without foundation, against which the flood did beate, and it fell by and by: and the fall of that house was great.


6:1	It happened on an after saboth that he went thorow the corne felde and that his disciples plucked the eares of corne and ate and rubbed them in their hondes.
6:2	And certayne of the Pharises sayde vnto them: Why do ye that which is not laufull to do on the saboth dayes?
6:3	And Iesus answered them and sayde: Have ye not redde what David dyd when he him sylfe was anhungred and they which were with him:
6:4	how he went into the housse of God and toke and ate the loves of halowed breed and gave also to them which were with him: which was not laufull to eate but for the prestes only.
6:5	And he sayde vnto them: The sonne of man is Lorde of the saboth daye.
6:6	And it fortuned in a nother saboth also that he entred in to ye sinagoge and taught. And ther was a ma whose right honde was dryed vp.
6:7	And ye Scribes and Pharises watched him to se whether he wolde heale on the Saboth daye that they myght fynde an accusacion agaynst him.
6:8	But he knewe their thoughtes and sayde to the man which had ye wyddred honde: Ryse vp and stonde forthe in the myddes. And he arose and stepped forthe.
6:9	Then sayde Iesus vnto them: I will axe you a question: Whether is it laufull on the saboth dayes to do good or to do evill? to save lyfe or for to destroye it?
6:10	And he behelde them all in copasse and sayd vnto ye man: Stretche forth thy honde. And he dyd so and his honde was restored and made as whoole as the other.
6:11	And they were filled full of madnes and comuned one with another what they myght do to Iesu.
6:12	And it fortuned in thoose dayes that he went out into a mountayne for to praye and cotinued all nyght in prayer to god.
6:13	And assone as it was daye he called his disciples and of the he chose twelve which also he called apostles.
6:14	Simon who he named Peter: and Andrew his brother. Iames and Iho Philip and Bartlemew
6:15	Mathew and Thomas Iames the sonne of Alpheus and Simon called zelotes
6:16	and Iudas Iames sonne and Iudas Iscarioth which same was the traytour.
6:17	And he came doune with them and stode in the playne felde with the company of his disciples and agreate multitude of people out of all parties of Iurie and Ierusalem and from the see cooste of Tire and Sidon which came to heare hym and to be healed of their diseases:

6:19	And all the people preased to touche him: for there went vertue out of him and healed them all.
6:20	And he lifted vp his eyes apon the disciples and sayde: Blessed be ye poore: for yours is the kyngdome of God.
6:21	Blessed are ye that honger now: for ye shalbe satisfied. Blessed are ye yt wepe now: for ye shall laugh.
6:22	Blessed are ye when men hate you and thrust you oute of their companye and rayle and abhorre youre name as an evyll thinge for the sonne of manes sake.
6:23	Reioyse ye then and be gladde: for beholde youre rewarde is greate in heven. After this manner their fathers entreated the Prophetes.
6:24	But wo be to you that are ryche: for ye have therin youre consolacion.
6:25	Wo be to you yt are full: for ye shall honger. Wo be to you that now laugh: for ye shall wayle and wepe.
6:26	Wo be to you when all men prayse you: for so dyd their fathers to the false prophetes.
6:27	But I saye vnto you which heare: Love youre enemyes. Do good to the which hate you.
6:28	Blesse the that course you. And praye for the which wrongfully trouble you.
6:29	And vnto him that smyteth the on the one cheke offer also ye other. And him that taketh awaye thy goune forbid not to take thy coote also.
6:30	Geve to every man that axeth of the. And of him that taketh awaye thy goodes axe them not agayne.
6:31	And as ye wolde that men shuld doo to you: so do ye to them lyke wyse.
6:32	If ye love the which love you: what thanke are ye worthy of? For the very synners love their lovers.
6:33	And yf ye do for them which do for you: what thanke are ye worthy of? For the very synners do even the same.
6:34	If ye lende to them of whome ye hoope to receave: what thanke shall ye have: for the very synners lende to synners to receave as moch agayne.
6:35	Wherfore love ye youre enemys do good and lende lokynge for nothinge agayne and youre rewarde shalbe greate and ye shalbe the chyldren of the hyest: for he is kynde vnto the vnkynde and to the evyll.
6:36	Be ye therfore mercifull as youre father is mercifull.
6:37	Iudge not and ye shall not be Iudged. Condemne not: and ye shall not be condemned. Forgeve and ye shalbe forgeven.
6:38	Geve and yt shalbe geven vnto you: good measure pressed doune shaken to geder and runnynge over shall men geve into youre bosomes. For with what measure ye mete with ye same shall men mete to you agayne.
6:39	And he put forthe a similitude vnto the: Can the blynde leade ye blynde? Do they not both then fall into ye dyche?
6:40	The disciple is not above his master. Every ma shalbe perfecte even as his master is.
6:41	Why seyst thou a moote in thy brothers eye considerest not ye beame yt is in thyne awne eye?
6:42	Ether how canest thou saye to thy brother: Brother let me pull out ye moote that is in thyne eye: when thou perceavest not the beame that is in thyne awne eye? Ypocrite cast out ye beame out of thyne awne eye fyrst and then shalt thou se perfectly to pull out the moote out of thy brothers eye.
6:43	It is not a good tree that bringeth forthe evyll frute: nether is that an evyll tree that bringeth forthe good frute
6:44	For every tree is knowen by his frute. Nether of thornes gader men fygges nor of busshes gader they grapes.
6:45	A good man out of the good treasure of his hert bringeth forthe that which is good. And an evyll man out of the evyll treasure of his hert bringeth forthe that which ys evyll. For of the aboundaunce of ye her his mouthe speakethe.
6:46	Why call ye me Master Master: and do not as I bid you?
6:47	whosoever cometh to me and heareth my sayinges and dothe the same I will shewe you to whome he ys lyke.
6:48	He is like a man which bilt an housse: and digged depe and layde the foundacio on a rocke. Whe the waters arose the fludde bet apo that housse and coulde not move yt. For it was grounded apon a rocke.
6:49	But he that heareth and doth not is lyke a man that with out foundacion bylt an housse apon the erth agaynst which the fludde did bet: and it fell by and by. And ye fall of yt housse was greate.
