9:1Then called hee his twelue disciples together, and gaue them power and authoritie ouer all deuils, and to heale diseases.
9:2And hee sent them foorth to preach the kingdome of God, and to cure the sicke.
9:3And he sayd to them, Take nothing to your iourney, neither staues, nor scrip, neither bread, nor siluer, neither haue two coates apiece.
9:4And whatsoeuer house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.
9:5And howe many so euer will not receiue you, when ye goe out of that citie, shake off the very dust from your feete for a testimonie against them.
9:6And they went out, and went through euery towne preaching the Gospel, and healing euery where.
9:7Nowe Herod the Tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he douted, because that it was sayd of some, that Iohn was risen againe from the dead:
9:8And of some, that Elias had appeared: and of some, that one of the olde Prophets was risen againe.
9:9Then Herod sayd, Iohn haue I beheaded: who then is this of whome I heare such things? and he desired to see him.
9:10And when the Apostles returned, they tolde him what great things they had done. Then he tooke them to him, and went aside into a solitarie place, neere to the citie called Bethsaida.
9:11But when the people knewe it, they followed him: and he receiued them, and spake vnto them of the kingdome of God, and healed them that had neede to be healed.
9:12And when the day began to weare away, the twelue came, and sayd vnto him, Sende the people away, that they may goe into the townes and villages round about, and lodge, and get meate: for we are here in a desart place.
9:13But he sayd vnto them, Giue ye them to eate. And they sayd, We haue no more but fiue loaues and two fishes, except we should go and buy meate for all this people.
9:14For they were about fiue thousand men. Then he sayde to his disciples, Cause them to sit downe by fifties in a company.
9:15And they did so, and caused all to sit downe.
9:16Then he tooke the fiue loaues, and the two fishes, and looked vp to heauen, and blessed them, and brake, and gaue to the disciples, to set before the people.
9:17So they did all eate, and were satisfied: and there was taken vp of that remained to them, twelue baskets full of broken meate.
9:18And it came to passe, as hee was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?
9:19They answered, and sayd, Iohn Baptist: and others say, Elias: and some say, that one of the olde Prophets is risen againe.
9:20And he sayd vnto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answered, and sayd, That Christ of God.
9:21And he warned and commanded them, that they should tell that to no man,
9:22Saying, The Sonne of man must suffer many things and be reproued of the Elders, and of the hie Priests and Scribes, and be slaine, and the third day rise againe.
9:23And he sayd to them all, If any man will come after me, let him denie himselfe, and take vp his crosse dayly, and follow me.
9:24For whosoeuer will saue his life, shall lose it: and whosoeuer shall lose his life for my sake, the same shall saue it.
9:25For what auantageth it a man, if he win the whole worlde, and destroy himselfe, or lose himselfe?
9:26For whosoeuer shall be ashamed of me, and of my wordes, of him shall the Sonne of man be ashamed, when hee shall come in his glorie, and in the glorie of the Father, and of the holy Angels.
9:27And I tell you of a suretie, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they haue seene the kingdome of God.
9:28And it came to passe about an eyght dayes after those wordes, that he tooke Peter and Iohn, and Iames, and went vp into a mountaine to pray.
9:29And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was changed, and his garment was white and glistered.
9:30And beholde, two men talked with him, which were Moses and Elias:
9:31Which appeared in glory, and tolde of his departing, which he shoulde accomplish at Hierusalem.
9:32But Peter and they that were with him, were heauie with sleepe, and when they awoke, they saw his glorie, and the two men standing with him.
9:33And it came to passe, as they departed from him, Peter said vnto Iesus, Master, it is good for vs to be here: let vs therefore make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias, and wist not what he said.
9:34Whiles he thus spake, there came a cloude and ouershadowed them, and they feared when they were entring into the cloude.
9:35And there came a voyce out of the cloud, saying, This is that my beloued Sonne, heare him.
9:36And when the voyce was past, Iesus was found alone: and they kept it close, and tolde no man in those dayes any of those things which they had seene.
9:37And it came to passe on the next day, as they came downe from the mountaine, much people met him.
9:38And beholde, a man of the companie cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, beholde my sonne: for he is all that I haue.
9:39And loe, a spirit taketh him, and suddenly he crieth, and he teareth him, that he fometh, and hardly departeth from him, when he hath bruised him.
9:40Nowe I haue besought thy disciples to cast him out, but they could not.
9:41Then Iesus answered, and said, O generation faithlesse, and crooked, howe long now shall I be with you, and suffer you? bring thy sonne hither.
9:42And whiles he was yet comming, the deuill rent him, and tare him: and Iesus rebuked the vncleane spirite, and healed the childe, and deliuered him to his father.
9:43And they were all amased at the mightie power of God: and while they all wondered at al things, which Iesus did, he said vnto his disciples,
9:44Marke these wordes diligently: for it shall come to passe, that the Sonne of man shalbe deliuered into the handes of men.
9:45But they vnderstood not that word: for it was hid from them, so that they could not perceiue it: and they feared to aske him of that worde.
9:46Then there arose a disputation among them, which of them should be the greatest.
9:47When Iesus sawe the thoughtes of their heartes, he tooke a litle childe, and set him by him,
9:48And said vnto them, Whosoeuer receiueth this litle childe in my Name, receiueth me: and whosoeuer shall receiue me, receiueth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, he shall be great.
9:49And Iohn answered and saide, Master, we sawe one casting out deuils in thy Name, and we forbad him, because he followeth thee not with vs.
9:50Then Iesus saide vnto him, Forbid ye him not: for he that is not against vs, is with vs.
9:51And it came to passe, when the dayes were accomplished, that he should be receiued vp, he setled himselfe fully to goe to Hierusalem,
9:52And sent messengers before him: and they went and entred into a towne of the Samaritans, to prepare him lodging.
9:53But they woulde not receiue him, because his behauiour was, as though he would go to Hierusalem.
9:54And when his disciples, Iames and Iohn sawe it, they saide, Lord, wilt thou that we commaund, that fire come downe from heauen, and consume them, euen as Elias did?
9:55But Iesus turned about, and rebuked them, and said, Ye knowe not of what spirit ye are.
9:56For the Sonne of man is not come to destroy mens liues, but to saue them. Then they went to another towne.
9:57And it came to passe that as they went in the way, a certaine man said vnto him, I will follow thee, Lord, whithersoeuer thou goest.
9:58And Iesus saide vnto him, The foxes haue holes, and the birdes of the heauen nestes, but the Sonne of man hath not whereon to lay his head.
9:59But he said vnto another, Followe me. And the same said, Lord, suffer me first to goe and burie my father.
9:60And Iesus said vnto him, Let the dead burie their dead: but go thou, and preache the kingdome of God.
9:61Then another saide, I will follow thee, Lord: but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at mine house.
9:62And Iesus saide vnto him, No man that putteth his hand to the plough, and looketh backe, is apt to the kingdome of God.

9:1Then called he the .xii. to gether and gave them power and auctorite over all devyls and that they myght heale diseases.
9:2And he sent them to preache the kyngdome of God and to cure the sick.
9:3And he sayd to them: Take nothinge to sucker you by ye waye: nether staffe nor scripe nether breed nether money nether have twoo cootes.
9:4And whatsoever housse ye enter into there abyde and thence departe.
9:5And whosoever will not receave you when ye go out of that cite shake of the very dust from youre fete for a testimony agaynst them.
9:6And they went out and went thorow the tounes preachinge the gospell and healynge every wheare.
9:7And Herod the tetrarch herde of all that was done of him and douted because that it was sayde of some that Iohn was rysen agayne from deeth:
9:8and of some that Helyas had apered: and of other that one of the olde prophetes was rysen agayne.
9:9And Herod sayde: Iohn have I behedded: who then is this of whom I heare suche thinges? And he desyred to se him.
9:10 And the Apostles retourned and tolde him what great thinges they had done. And he toke them and went a syde into a solitary place nye to a citie called Bethsaida.
9:11And ye people knewe of it and folowed him. And he receaved them and spake vnto them of the kyngdome of God and healed them that had nede to be healed.
9:12And when ye daye beganne to weare awaye then came the twelve and sayde vnto him: sende ye people awaye that they maye goo into the tounes and villages roundabout and lodge and get meate for we are here in a place of wyldernes.
9:13But he sayde vnto them: Geve ye the to eate. And they sayde. We have no moo but fyve loves and two fisshes except we shuld goo and bye meate for all this people.
9:14And they were about a fyve thousand men. And he sayde to his disciples: Cause them to syt doune by fyfties in a company.
9:15And they dyd soo and made them all syt doune.
9:16And he toke the fyve loves and the two fisshes and loked vp to heven and blessed them and brake and gave to the disciples to set before ye people.
9:17And they ate and were all satisfied. And ther was taken vp of that remayned to the twelve baskettes full of broken meate.
9:18And it fortuned as he was alone prayinge his disciples were wt him and he axed the sayinge: Who saye ye people yt I am?
9:19They answered and sayd: Iohn Baptist. Some saye Helyas. And some saye one of the olde prophetes is rysen agayne.
9:20He sayde vnto the: Who saye ye that I am? Peter answered and sayde: thou arte the Christ of god.
9:21And he warned and commaunded them that they shuld tell no man yt thinge
9:22sayinge: that the sonne of man must suffre many thinges and be reproved of the elders and of the hye prestes and scribes and be slayne and the thirde daye ryse agayne.
9:23And he sayde to them all yf eny man will come after me let him denye him sylfe and take vp his crosse dayly and folowe me.
9:24Whosoever will save his lyfe shall lose it. And who soever shall lose his lyfe for my sake the same shall save it.
9:25For what avauntageth it a man to wynne the whole worlde yf he loose him sylfe or runne in domage of him sylfe?
9:26For whosoever is ashamed of me and of my sayinges: of him shall the sonne of man be ashamed when he cometh in his awne glorie and in the glorie of his father and of the holy angels.
9:27And I tell you of a surety: There be some of the yt stonde here which shall not tast of deeth tyll they se ye kyngdome of god.
9:28 And it folowed about an .viii. dayes after thoose sayinges that he toke Peter Iames and Iohn and went vp into a moutayne to praye.
9:29And as he prayed ye facion of his countenaunce was changed and his garment was whyte and shoone.
9:30And beholde two men talked wt him and they were Moses and Helyas
9:31which appered gloriously and spake of his departinge which he shuld ende at Ierusalem.
9:32Peter and they that were with him were hevy with slepe. And when they woke they sawe his glorie and two men stondinge with him.
9:33And it chaunsed as they departed fro him Peter sayde vnto Iesus: Master it is good beinge here for vs. Let vs make thre tabernacles one for the and one for Moses and one for Helyas: and wist not what he sayde.
9:34Whyll he thus spake ther came a cloude and shadowed them: and they feared when they were come vnder the cloude.
9:35And ther came a voyce out of the cloude sayinge: This is my deare sonne heare him.
9:36And assone as ye voyce was past Iesus was founde alone. And they kept it cloose and tolde noo man in thoose dayes eny of those thinges which they had sene.
9:37And it chaunsed on the nexte daye as they came doune from the hyll moche people met him.
9:38And beholde a man of the copany cryed out sayinge: Master I beseche ye beholde my sonne for he is all that I have:
9:39and se a sprete taketh him and sodenly he cryeth and he teareth him that he fometh agayne and with moche payne departeth fro him when he hath rent him and
9:40I besought thy disciples to cast him out and they coulde not.
9:41Iesus answered and sayde: O generacion with oute fayth and croked: how longe shall I be with you? and shall suffre you? Bringe thy sonne hidder.
9:42As he yet was a cominge the fende ret him and tare him. And Iesus rebuked ye vnclene sprete and healed the childe and delivered him to his father.
9:43And they were all amased at ye mighty power of God.Whyll they wondred every one at all thinges which he dyd he sayd vnto his disciples:
9:44Let these sayinges synke doune into youre eares. The tyme will come when the sonne of man shalbe delivered into the hondes of men.
9:45But they wist not what yt worde meant and yt was hyd fro the that they vnderstode yt not. And they feared to axe him of that sayinge.
9:46 Then ther arose a disputacion amoge the: who shuld be the greatest.
9:47When Iesus perceaved ye thoughtes of their hertes he toke a chylde and set him hard by him
9:48and sayd vnto the: Whosoever receaveth this chylde in my name receaveth me. And whosoever receaveth me receaveth him yt sent me. For he yt is least amonge you all the same shalbe greate.
9:49And Iohn answered and sayde: Master we sawe one castinge out devyls in thy name and we forbade him because he foloweth not with vs.
9:50And Iesus sayde vnto him: forbyd ye him not. For he that is not agaynst vs is wt vs.
9:51And it folowed when the tyme was come yt he shulde be receaved vp then he set his face to goo to Hierusalem
9:52and sent messengers before him. And they went and entred into a citie of the Samaritans to make redy for him.
9:53But they wolde not receave him be cause his face was as though he wolde goo to Ierusalem.
9:54When his disciples Iames and Iohn sawe yt they sayde: Lorde wilt thou that we comaunde that fyre come doune from heven and consume them even as Helias dyd?
9:55Iesus turned about and rebuked them sayinge: ye wote not what maner sprete ye are of.
9:56The sonne of ma ys not come to destroye mennes lives but to save them. And they went to another toune.
9:57 And it chaunsed as he went in the waye a certayne man sayd vnto him: I will folowe the whither soever thou goo.
9:58Iesus sayd vnto him: foxes have holes and bryddes of ye ayer have nestes: but the sonne of man hath not where on to laye his heed.
9:59And he sayde vnto another: folowe me. And the same sayde: Lorde suffre me fyrst to goo and bury my father.
9:60Iesus sayd vnto him: Let the deed bury their deed: but goo thou and preache the kyngdome of God.
9:61And another sayde: I wyll folowe the Lorde: but let me fyrst goo byd them fare well which are at home at my housse.
9:62Iesus sayde vnto him: No man that putteth his honde to the plowe and loketh backe is apte to the kyngdome of God.
