Luke - Chapter: 15

>
15:1Then drew neere vnto him all the Publicanes and sinners, for to heare him.
15:2And the Pharises and Scribes murmured, murmured, saying, This man receiueth sinners, and eateth with them.
15:3And he spake this parable vnto them, saying,
15:4What man of you hauing an hundred sheepe, if he loose one of them, doth not leaue the ninety and nine in the wildernesse, and goe after that which is lost, vntill he find it?
15:5And when he hath found it, hee layeth it on his shoulders, reioycing.
15:6And when he commeth home, he calleth together his friends, and neighbours, saying vnto them, Reioyce with me, for I haue found my sheepe which was lost.
15:7I say vnto you, that likewise ioy shall be in heauen ouer one sinner that repenteth, more then ouer ninety and nine iust persons, which need no repentance.
15:8Either what woman hauing ten pieces of siluer, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweepe the house, and seeke diligently till shee find it?
15:9And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Reioyce with me, for I haue found ye piece which I had lost.
15:10Likewise I say vnto you, there is ioy in the presence of the Angels of God, ouer one sinner that repenteth.
15:11And hee said, A certaine man had two sonnes:
15:12And the yonger of them said to his father, Father, giue me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he diuided vnto them his liuing.
15:13And not many dayes after, the yonger sonne gathered al together, and tooke his iourney into a farre countrey, and there wasted his substance with riotous liuing.
15:14And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land, and he beganne to be in want.
15:15And he went and ioyned himselfe to a citizen of that countrey, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
15:16And he would faine haue filled his belly with the huskes that the swine did eate: & no man gaue vnto him.
15:17And when he came to himselfe, he said, How many hired seruants of my fathers haue bread inough and to spare, and I perish with hunger?
15:18I will arise and goe to my father, and will say vnto him, Father, I haue sinned against heauen and before thee.
15:19And am no more worthy to be called thy sonne: make me as one of thy hired seruants.
15:20And he arose and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ranne, and fell on his necke, and kissed him.
15:21And the sonne said vnto him, Father, I haue sinned against heauen, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy sonne.
15:22But the father saide to his seruants, Bring foorth the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shooes on his feete.
15:23And bring hither the fatted calfe, and kill it, and let vs eate and be merrie.
15:24For this my sonne was dead, and is aliue againe; hee was lost, & is found. And they began to be merie.
15:25Now his elder sonne was in the field, and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musicke & dauncing,
15:26And he called one of the seruants, and asked what these things meant.
15:27And he said vnto him, Thy brother is come, and thy father hath killed the fatted calfe, because he hath receiued him safe and sound.
15:28And he was angry, and would not goe in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
15:29And he answering said to his father, Loe, these many yeeres doe I serue thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandement, and yet thou neuer gauest mee a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
15:30But as soone as this thy sonne was come, which hath deuoured thy liuing with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calfe.
15:31And he said vnto him, Sonne, thou art euer with me, and all that I haue is thine.
15:32It was meete that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is aliue againe: and was lost, and is found.

15:1There resorted vnto him all the publicans and synners, that they might heare him.
15:2And ye Pharises and scrybes murmured, and sayde: This man receaueth synners, and eateth with them.
15:3But he tolde the this symilitude, and sayde:
15:4What man is he amonge you, that hath an hundreth shepe, and yf he loose one of the, that leaueth not the nyne and nyentye in the wyldernesse, and goeth after that which is lost tyll he fynde it?
15:5And whan he hath founde it, he layeth it vpon his shulders with ioye:
15:6and whan he commeth home, he calleth his fredes and neghbours, and sayeth vnto the: Reioyce with me, for I haue founde my shepe, yt was lost.
15:7I saye vnto you: Eue so shal there be ioye in heauen ouer one synner that doth pennaunce, more then ouer nyne and nyentye righteous, which nede not repentaunce.
15:8Or what woman is it that hath ten grotes, yf she loose one of them, that lighteth not a candell, and swepeth the house, and seketh diligently, tyll she fynde it?
15:9And whan she hath founde it, she calleth hir frendes & neghbouresses, and sayeth: Reioyce with me, for I haue foude my grote, which I had lost.
15:10Euen so (I tell you) shal there be ioye before the angels of God, ouer one synner yt doth pennaunce.
15:11And he sayde: A certayne man had two sonnes,
15:12and the yonger of them sayde vnto the father: Father, geue me the porcion of ye goodes, that belongeth vnto me. And he deuyded the good vnto them.
15:13And not longe therafter, gathered the yonger sonne all together, & toke his iourney in to a farre countre, and there waisted he his goodes with ryotous lyuynge.
15:14Now whan he had spent all that he had, there was a greate derth thorow out all the same lode. And he begane to lacke,
15:15and wente his waye, and claue to a cytesin of that same countre, which sent him in to his felde, to kepe swyne.
15:16And he wolde fayne haue fylled his bely with the coddes, that the swyne ate. And no man gaue him them.
15:17Then came he to him self, and sayde: How many hyred seruauntes hath my father, which haue bred ynough, and I perish of honger?
15:18I wil get vp, and go to my father, and saye vnto him: Father, I haue synned agaynst heauen and before the,
15:19and am nomore worthy to be called thy sonne, make me as one of thy hyred seruauntes.
15:20And he gat him vp, & came vnto his father. But whan he was yet a greate waye of, his father sawe him, and had copassion, and ranne, and fell aboute his neck, and kyssed him.
15:21Then sayde the sonne vnto him: Father, I haue synned agaynst heaue, and before the, I am nomore worthy to be called thy sonne.
15:22But the father sayde vnto his seruauntes: Brynge forth the best garment, and put it vpon him, and geue him a rynge vpon his hande, and shues on his fete,
15:23and brynge hither a fed calfe, and kyll it, lat vs eate and be mery:
15:24for this my sonne was deed, and is alyue agayne: he was lost, and is founde. And they beganne to be mery.
15:25But the elder sonne was in the felde. And whan he came, and drewe nye to the house, he herde ye mynstrelsye and daunsynge,
15:26and called one of the seruauntes vnto him, and axed what it was.
15:27He sayde vnto him: Thy brother is come, and thy father hath slayne a fed calfe, because he hath receaued him safe and sounde.
15:28Then was he angrie, and wolde not go in. Then wente his father out, and prayed him.
15:29But he answered, and sayde vnto his father: Lo, thus many yeares haue I done the seruyce, nether haue I yet broken thy commaundement, and thou gauest me neuer one kydd, yt I might make mery with my frendes.
15:30But now that this thy sonne is come, which deuoured his goodes with harlottes, thou hast slayne a fed calfe.
15:31But he sayde vnto him: My sonne, thou art allwaye with me, and all that is myne, is thine:
15:32thou shuldest be mery and glad, for this yi brother was deed, and is alyue agayne: he was lost, and is founde agayne.

15:1And pupplicans and synful men weren neiyynge to him, to here hym.
15:2And the Farisees and scribis grutchiden, seiynge, For this resseyueth synful men, and etith with hem.
15:3And he spak to hem this parable,
15:4and seide, What man of you that hath an hundrith scheep, and if he hath lost oon of hem, whethir he leeueth not nynti and nyne in desert, and goith to it that perischide, til he fynde it?
15:5And whanne he hath foundun it, he ioieth, and leyith it on hise schuldris; and he cometh hoom,
15:6and clepith togidir hise freendis and neiyboris, and seith to hem, Be ye glad with me, for Y haue founde my scheep, that hadde perischid.
15:7And Y seie to you, so ioye schal be in heuene on o synful man doynge penaunce, more than on nynti and nyne iuste, that han no nede to penaunce.
15:8Or what womman hauynge ten besauntis, and if sche hath lost oo besaunt, whether sche teendith not a lanterne, and turneth vpsodoun the hows, and sekith diligentli, til that sche fynde it?
15:9And whanne sche hath foundun, sche clepith togidir freendis and neiyboris, and seith, Be ye glad with me, for Y haue founde the besaunt, that Y hadde lost.
15:10So Y seie to you, ioye schal be bifor aungels of God on o synful man doynge penaunce.
15:11And he seide, A man hadde twei sones;
15:12and the yonger of hem seide to the fadir, Fadir, yyue me the porcioun of catel, that fallith to me. And he departide to hem the catel.
15:13And not aftir many daies, whanne alle thingis weren gederid togider, the yonger sone wente forth in pilgrymage in to a fer cuntre; and there he wastide hise goodis in lyuynge lecherously.
15:14And aftir that he hadde endid alle thingis, a strong hungre was maad in that cuntre, and he bigan to haue nede.
15:15And he wente, and drouy hym to oon of the citeseyns of that cuntre. And he sente hym in to his toun, to fede swyn.
15:16And he coueitide to fille his wombe of the coddis that the hoggis eeten, and no man yaf hym.
15:17And he turnede ayen to hym silf, and seide, Hou many hirid men in my fadir hous han plente of looues; and Y perische here thorouy hungir.
15:18Y schal rise vp, and go to my fadir, and Y schal seie to hym, Fadir, Y haue synned in to heuene, and bifor thee;
15:19and now Y am not worthi to be clepid thi sone, make me as oon of thin hirid men.
15:20And he roos vp, and cam to his fadir. And whanne he was yit afer, his fadir saiy hym, and was stirrid bi mercy. And he ran, and fel on his necke, and kisside hym.
15:21And the sone seide to hym, Fadir, Y haue synned in to heuene, and bifor thee; and now Y am not worthi to be clepid thi sone.
15:22And the fadir seide to hise seruauntis, Swithe brynge ye forth the firste stoole, and clothe ye hym, and yyue ye a ryng in his hoond,
15:23and schoon on hise feet; and brynge ye a fat calf, and sle ye, and ete we, and make we feeste.
15:24For this my sone was deed, and hath lyued ayen; he perischid, and is foundun. And alle men bigunnen to ete.
15:25But his eldere sone was in the feeld; and whanne he cam, and neiyede to the hous, he herde a symfonye and a croude.
15:26And he clepide oon of the seruauntis, and axide, what these thingis weren.
15:27And he seide to hym, Thi brother is comun, and thi fadir slewe a fat calf, for he resseyuede hym saaf.
15:28And he was wrooth, and wolde not come in. Therfor his fadir wente out, and bigan to preye hym.
15:29And he answerde to his fadir, and seide, Lo! so many yeeris Y serue thee, and Y neuer brak thi comaundement; and thou neuer yaf to me a kidde, that Y with my freendis schulde haue ete.
15:30But aftir that this thi sone, that hath deuourid his substaunce with horis, cam, thou hast slayn to hym a fat calf.
15:31And he seide to hym, Sone, thou art euer more with me, and alle my thingis ben thine.
15:32But it bihofte for to make feeste, and to haue ioye; for this thi brother was deed, and lyuede ayen; he perischide, and is foundun.
