John - Chapter: 10

>
10:1Verelye verelye I saye vnto you: he that entreth not in by the dore, into the shepe folde: but climmeth vp some other waye, the same is a thefe and a robber.
10:2He that goeth in by the dore, is the shepeherde of the shepe,
10:3to him the porter openeth, and the shepe heare hys voyce, and he calleth hys owne shepe by name, and leadeth them oute.
10:4And when he hath sente forth hys owne shepe, he goeth before them, and the shepe folowe hym, for they knowe hys voyce.
10:5A straunger they wyll not folowe, but wyll flye from hym, for they know not the voyce of straungers.
10:6Thys similitude spake Iesus vnto them: But they vnderstode not what thynges they were whiche he spake vnto them.
10:7Then Iesus sayed vnto them agayne Verelye I saye vnto you: I am the dore of the shepe.
10:8Al, euen as manye as came before me, are theues and robbers: but the shepe dyd not heare them.
10:9I am the dore: by me yf any man enter in, he shalbe safe, and shall go in & oute, and fynde pasture.
10:10The thefe cometh not, but for to steale, kyll, and destroye. I am come, that they might haue lyfe, and haue it more aboundauntlye.
10:11I am the good shepeherde. The good shepe herde geueth hys lyfe for the shepe.
10:12An hyred, seruaunte, which is not the shepeherde, neyther the shepe are hys own, seeth the wolfe commynge, and leaueth the shepe, and fleeth, and the wolfe catcheth them, & scatiereth the shepe.
10:13The hyred seruaunte fleeth, because he is an hyred seruaunte, and careth not for the shepe.
10:14I am that good shepeherde, and knowe myne and am knowen of myne.
10:15As my father knoweth me, euen so knowe I my father. And I geue my lyfe for the shepe:
10:16and other shepe I haue whiche are not of thys folde. Them also muste I brynge that they maye heare my voyce, and that there maye be one flocke, and one shepeherde.
10:17Therfore doth my father loue me, because I put my lyfe from me, that I myght take it agayne.
10:18Noman taketh it from me, but I put it awaye of my selfe. I haue power to put it from me, and haue power to take it agayne. Thys commaundemente haue I receyued of my father.
10:19And there was a dissencyon agayne among the Iewes for these saiynges,
10:20& many of them sayd: he hath the deuil, and is madde: why heare ye hym?
10:21Other sayd: these are not the wordes of hym that hath the deuyll. Can the deuyll open the eyes of the blynde?
10:22And it was at Hierusalem the feaste of the dedicacion of the temple, and it was wynter,
10:23& Iesus walked in Solomons porche.
10:24Then came the Iewes rounde about hym, & sayed vnto hym: Howe longe dost thou make vs doubte? Yf thou be Christe, tell vs playnely.
10:25Iesus aunswered them: I tolde you, and ye beleue not. The workes that I do in my fathers name, then beare witnes of me.
10:26But ye beleue not because ye are not of my shepe. As I said vnto you:
10:27my shepe heare my voice, & I know them, and they folowe me,
10:28and I geue vnto them eternall lyfe, and they shall neuer perish neyther shall any man plucke them out of my hande.
10:29My father whiche gaue them me, is greater then all, and no man is able to take them out of my fathers hande.
10:30And I and my father are one.
10:31Then the Iewes agayne toke vp stones to stone hym with all.
10:32Iesus aunswered them: manye good workes haue I shewed you from my father: for whiche of them wyll ye stone me?
10:33The Iewes aunswered him, saiynge: For thy good workes sake we stone the not, but for thy blasphemye, and because that thou beynge a man, makest thy selfe God.
10:34Iesus aunswered them: is it not wrytten in youre lawe. I saye: ye are Goddes?
10:35Yf he called them Goddes vnto whom the worde of God was spoken (& the scripture can not be broken)
10:36saye ye then to hym, whom the father hath sanctifyed, & sent into the worlde, thou blasphemest, because I sayed. I am the sonne of God?
10:37yf I do not the workes of my father, beleue me not.
10:38But yf I do: then thoughe ye beleue not me, yet beleue the workes, that ye maye knowe and beleue, that the father is in me, and I in hym.
10:39Agayne they went about to take hym: but he escaped out of theyr handes,
10:40and went awaye agayne beyonde Iordan, into the place where Iohn before had baptysed, and there abode.
10:41And manye resorted vnto hym, & sayed: Iohn dyd no myracle, but all thynges that Iohn spake of thys man, are true.
10:42And manye beleued on hym there.

10:1Uerely verely, I saye vnto you: he that entreth not in by the dore into the shepefolde, but clymeth vp some other waye, the same is a thefe and a murthurer.
10:2But he that entreth in by the dore, is the shepherde of the shepe:
10:3to hym the porter openeth, & the shepe heare hys voyce, and he calleth his awne shepe by name, and leadeth them out.
10:4And when he hath sent forth his awne shepe, he goeth before them, and the shepe folow him: for they knowe his voyce.
10:5A straunger will they not folowe, but wyll flye from him: for they knowe not the voyce of straungers.
10:6Thys prouerbe spake Iesus vnto them. But they vnderstode not what thinges they were, which he spake vnto them.
10:7Then sayd Iesus vnto them agayne: Uerely verely, I saye vnto you: I am the dore of the shepe.
10:8All (euen as many as came before me) are theues & murthurers: but the shepe dyd not heare them.
10:9I am the dore: by me yf any man entre in, he shalbe safe, and shall go in and out, and fynde pasture.
10:10A thefe commeth not but for to steale, kyll, and to destroye. I am come, that they might haue life, and that they myght haue it more aboundantly.
10:11I am the good shepeherd. A good shepherde geueth hys lyfe for the shepe.
10:12An hyred seruaunt, and he which is not the shepeherd (nether the shepe are his awne) seeth the wolfe comminge, and leaueth the shepe, and flieth, and the wolfe catcheth, and scattereth the shepe.
10:13The hyred seruaunt flyeth, because he is an hired seruaunt, and careth not for the shepe.
10:14I am the good shepheard, and knowe my shepe, and am knowen of myne.
10:15As my father knoweth me, euen so knowe I also my father. And I geue my lyfe for the shepe:
10:16& other shepe I haue, which are not of thys fold. Them also must I bring, and they shall heare my voyce, and ther shalbe one fold and one shephearde.
10:17Therfore doth my father loue me, because I put my lyfe from me, that I myght take it agayne.
10:18No man taketh it from me: but I put it awaye of my self. I haue power to put it from me, and I haue power to take it agayne. Thys commaundement haue I receaued of my father.
10:19There was a dissencyon therfore agayne amonge the Iewes for these sayinges,
10:20and many of them sayd: He hath the deuel, and is madd: why heare ye him?
10:21Other sayde: these are not the wordes of him that hath the deuyll. Can the deuyll open the eyes of the blynde?
10:22And it was at Ierusalem the feaste of the dedicacyon, and it was winter:
10:23and Iesus walked in the temple, euen in Salomons porche.
10:24Then cam the Iewes rounde about him, and sayd vnto him: Howe longe dost thou make vs doute? If thou be Christ, tell vs playnely.
10:25Iesus answered them: I tolde you, and ye beleue not. The worckes that I do in my fathers name, they beare witnesse of me.
10:26But ye beleue not, because ye are not of my shepe. As I sayd vnto you:
10:27my shepe heare my voyce: and I knowe them, & they folowe me,
10:28and I geue vnto them eternall lyfe, and they shall neuer perissh, nether shall eny man plucke them oute of my hande.
10:29My father which gaue them me, is greater then all, and no man is able to take them oute of my fathers hand.
10:30I and my father are one.
10:31Then the Iewes agayne toke vp stones, to stone hym with all.
10:32Iesus answered them: many good worckes haue I shewed you from my father: for which of them do ye stone me?
10:33The Iewes answered him, sayeng: For thy good worckes sake we stone thou not, but for thy blasphemy, and because that thou beynge a man, makest thy selfe God:
10:34Iesus answered them: Is it not wrytten in youre lawe I sayde, ye are goddes?
10:35If he called them goddes, vnto whom the word of God was spoken (and the scripture cannot be broken
10:36concernynge hym whom the father hath sanctifyed, and sent into the worlde) Do ye saye that I blaspheme because I sayde, I am the sonne of God?
10:37If I do not the worckes of my father, beleue me not.
10:38But yf I do, and yf ye beleue not me, beleue the worckes: that ye maye knowe and beleue, that the father is in me, and I in him.
10:39Agayne they went about to take hym: & he escaped out of their hande,
10:40& went awaye agayne beyonde Iordan, into the place wher Iohn before had baptysed, and there he abode.
10:41And many resorted vnto him, and sayd: Iohn dyd no myracle, but all thynges that Iohn spake of this man were true.
10:42And many beleued on him there.

10:1Verely, verely I say vnto you, Hee that entreth not in by the doore into the sheepefolde, but climeth vp another way, he is a theefe and a robber.
10:2But he that goeth in by the doore, is the shepheard of the sheepe.
10:3To him the porter openeth, and the sheepe heare his voyce, and he calleth his owne sheepe by name, and leadeth them out.
10:4And when hee hath sent foorth his owne sheepe, he goeth before them, and the sheepe follow him: for they know his voyce.
10:5And they will not follow a stranger, but they flee from him: for they know not the voyce of strangers.
10:6This parable spake Iesus vnto them: but they vnderstoode not what things they were which he spake vnto them.
10:7Then sayd Iesus vnto them againe, Verely, verely I say vnto you, I am that doore of the sheepe.
10:8All, that euer came before me, are theeues and robbers: but the sheepe did not heare them.
10:9I am that doore: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saued, and shall go in, and go out, and finde pasture.
10:10The theefe commeth not, but for to steale, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might haue life, and haue it in abundance.
10:11I am that good shepheard: that good shepheard giueth his life for his sheepe.
10:12But an hireling, and hee which is not the shepheard, neither the sheepe are his owne, seeth the wolfe comming, and hee leaueth the sheepe, and fleeth, and the wolfe catcheth them, and scattreth the sheepe.
10:13So the hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheepe.
10:14I am that good shepheard, and knowe mine, and am knowen of mine.
10:15As the Father knoweth me, so know I the Father: and I lay downe my life for my sheepe.
10:16Other sheepe I haue also, which are not of this folde: them also must I bring, and they shall heare my voyce: and there shalbe one sheepefolde, and one shepheard.
10:17Therefore doeth my Father loue me, because I lay downe my life, that I might take it againe.
10:18No man taketh it from me, but I lay it downe of my selfe: I haue power to lay it downe, and haue power to take it againe: this commandement haue I receiued of my Father.
10:19Then there was a dissension againe among the Iewes for these sayings,
10:20And many of them sayd, He hath a deuill, and is mad: why heare ye him?
10:21Other sayd, These are not the wordes of him that hath a deuill: can the deuill open the eyes of the blinde?
10:22And it was at Hierusalem the feast of the Dedication, and it was winter.
10:23And Iesus walked in the Temple, in Salomons porche.
10:24Then came the Iewes round about him, and sayd vnto him, Howe long doest thou make vs dout? If thou be that Christ, tell vs plainely.
10:25Iesus answered them, I tolde you, and ye beleeue not: the workes that I doe in my Fathers Name, they beare witnes of me.
10:26But ye beleeue not: for ye are not of my sheepe, as I sayd vnto you.
10:27My sheepe heare my voyce, and I knowe them, and they follow me,
10:28And I giue vnto them eternall life, and they shall neuer perish, neither shall any plucke them out of mine hand.
10:29My Father which gaue them me, is greater then all, and none is able to take them out of my Fathers hand.
10:30I and my Father are one.
10:31Then ye Iewes againe tooke vp stones, to stone him.
10:32Iesus answered them, Many good workes haue I shewed you from my Father: for which of these workes doe ye stone me?
10:33The Iewes answered him, saying, For the good worke we stone thee not, but for blasphemie, and that thou being a man, makest thy selfe God.
10:34Iesus answered them, Is it not written in your Lawe, I sayd, Ye are gods?
10:35If hee called them gods, vnto whome the worde of God was giuen, and the Scripture cannot be broken,
10:36Say ye of him, whome the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the worlde, Thou blasphemest, because I said, I am the Sonne of God?
10:37If I doe not the workes of my Father, beleeue me not.
10:38But if I doe, then though ye beleeue not mee, yet beleeue the workes, that ye may knowe and beleeue, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
10:39Againe they went about to take him: but he escaped out of their handes,
10:40And went againe beyonde Iordan, into the place where Iohn first baptized, and there abode.
10:41And many resorted vnto him, and saide, Iohn did no miracle: but all thinges that Iohn spake of this man, were true.
10:42And many beleeued in him there.
