13:1Before the feaste of Easter, when Iesus knewe that hys houre was come, that he shuld depart out of this world vnto the father. When he loued his which were in the worlde, vnto the ende he loued them.
13:2And when supper was ended, after that the deuyll had put in the herte of Iudas Iscarioth Simons sonne, to be traye hym.
13:3Iesus knowynge that the father had geuen all thinges into hys handes, and that he was come from God, and went to God:
13:4he rose from supper, and layde asyde his vpper garmentes: and whan he had taken a towell, he gyrded him self.
13:5After that, he powred water into a basyn, and beganne to wash the disciples fete, and to wype them with the towell, wherwith he was gyrded.
13:6Then came he to Symon Peter. And Peter sayde vnto hym: Lord, dost thou wasshe my fete?
13:7Iesus answered, and sayd vnto him: what I do, thou wotest not nowe, but thou shalt know herafter.
13:8Peter sayeth vnto him: thou shalt neuer wasshe my fete. Iesus answered hym: yf I wasshe the not, thou hast no parte with me.
13:9Symon Peter sayeth vnto hym: Lorde, not my fete onely, but also the handes and the head.
13:10Iesus sayth to hym: he that is wasshed, nedeth not, saue to wasshe his fete, but is cleane euery whyt. And ye are cleane, but not all.
13:11For he knewe who it was that shuld be traye hym. Therfore sayd he: ye are not all cleane:
13:12So after he had wasshed their fete, and receaued hys clothes, and was sett downe, he sayde vnto them agayne: wote ye what I haue done to you?
13:13Ye call me master and Lorde, and ye saye well, for so am I.
13:14If I then youre lorde and master haue wasshed youre fete, ye also ought to wasshe one anothers fete.
13:15For I haue geuen you an ensample that ye shulde do, as I haue done to you.
13:16Uerely verely, I saye vnto you: the seruaunte is not greater then his master, nether the messenger greater then he that sent hym.
13:17If ye vnderstande these thinges happy are ye, yf ye do them.
13:18I speake not of you all, I knowe whom I haue chosen. But that the scripture maye be fulfylled: he that eateth bread with me, hath lyfte vp hys hele against me.
13:19Now tell I you before it come that when it is come to passe, ye might beleue that I am he.
13:20Uerely verely, I saye vnto you: He that receaueth whomsoeuer I sende, receaueth me. And he that receaueth me, receaueth him that sent me.
13:21When Iesus had thus sayd, he was troubled in the sprete, and testifyed and sayd: verely verely, I saye vnto you: that one of you shall be traye me.
13:22Then the disciples loked one on another, dowtynge of whom he spake.
13:23There was one of Iesus disciples, (which leaned on hym) euen he whom Iesus loued.
13:24To hym beckened Symon Peter therfore, that he shulde aske, who it was of whom he spake.
13:25He then when he leaned on Iesus brest, sayd vnto him: Lord, who is it?
13:26Iesus answered: he it is to whom I geue a soppe. And he wet the brede & gaue it to Iudas Iscarioth Simons sonne.
13:27And after the soppe. Satan entred into him. Then sayd Iesus vnto him: that thou dost, do quyckly.
13:28That wist no man at the table, for what intent he spake vnto him.
13:29Som of them thought because. Iudas had the bagge, that Iesus had sayd vnto him: bye those thinges that we haue nede of agaynst the feaste: or that he shuld geue some thyng to the poore.
13:30Assone then as he had receaued the soppe, he went immediatly out and it was night.
13:31Therfore when he was gone oute. Iesus sayd: Now is the sonne of man glorifyed. And God is gloryfyed by him.
13:32If God be glorifyed by him, God shall also glorify hym by hym selfe: and shall strayght waye gloryfy hym.
13:33Lytle chyldren, yet a lytel whyle am I with you. Ye shall seke me, & as I sayd vnto the Iewes, whyther I goo, thyther can ye not come. Also to you saye I now.
13:34A newe commaundement geue I vnto you, that ye loue together, as I haue loued you, that euen so ye loue one another.
13:35By this shall all men knowe that ye are my discyples, yf ye haue loue one to another.
13:36Symon Peter sayd vnto hym: Lorde, whyther goest thou? Iesus answered him: whyther I go, thou canst not folowe me now, but thou shalt folowe me afterwardes.
13:37Peter sayd vnto him: Lorde, why cannot I folowe the now: I wyl ieoparde my lyfe for thy sake?
13:38Iesus answered hym: wylt thou ieoparde thy lyfe for my sake? Uerely verely, I saye vnto the: the cocke shall not crowe, tyll thou haue denyed me thryse.

13:2And whanne the souper was maad, whanne the deuel hadde put than in to the herte, that Judas of Symount Scarioth schulde bitraye hym,
13:3he witynge that the fadir yaf alle thingis to hym in to hise hoondis, and that he wente out fro God,
13:4and goith to God, he risith fro the souper, and doith of hise clothis; and whanne he hadde takun a lynun cloth, he girde hym.

13:6And so he cam to Symount Petre, and Petre seith to hym, Lord, waischist thou my feet?
13:7Jhesus answerde, and seide to hym, What Y do, thou wost not now; but thou schalt wite aftirward.
13:8Petre seith to hym, Thou schalt neuere waische my feet. Jhesus answeride to hym, If Y schal not waische thee, thou schalt not haue part with me.
13:9Symount Petre seith to hym, Lord, not oneli my feet, but bothe the hoondis and the heed.
13:10Jhesus seide to hym, He that is waischun, hath no nede but that he waische the feet, but he is al clene; and ye ben clene, but not alle.
13:11For he wiste, who `was he that schulde bitraye hym; therfor he seide, Ye ben not alle clene.

13:13Ye clepen me maistir and lord, and ye seien wel; for Y am.
13:14Therfor if Y, lord and maistir, haue waischun youre feet, and ye schulen waische oon anothers feet;
13:15for Y haue youun `ensaumple to you, `that as I haue do to you, so do ye.
13:16Treuli, treuli, Y seie to you, the seruaunt is not grettere than his lord, nether an apostle is grettere than he that sente hym.
13:17If ye witen these thingis, ye schulen be blessid, if ye doen hem.
13:18Y seie not of `alle you, Y woot whiche Y haue chosun; but that the scripture be fulfillid, He that etith my breed, schal reise his heele ayens me.
13:19Treuly, Y seie to you bifor it be don, that whanne it is don, ye bileue that Y am.
13:20Treuli, treuli, Y seie to you, he that takith whom euere Y schal sende, resseyueth me; and he that resseyueth me, resseyueth hym that sente me.
13:21Whanne Jhesus hadde seid these thingis, he was troblid in spirit, and witnesside, and seide, Treuli, treuli, Y seie to you, that oon of you schal bitraye me.
13:22Therfor the disciplis lokiden togidere, doutynge of whom he seide.

13:24Therfor Symount Petre bikeneth to hym, `and seith to hym, Who is it, of whom he seith?
13:25And so whanne he hadde restid ayen on the brest of Jhesu, he seith to hym, Lord, who is it?

13:30Therfor whanne he hadde takun the mussel, he wente out anoon; and it was nyyt.
13:31And whanne he was gon out, Jhesus seide, Now mannus sone is clarified, and God is clarified in hym.
13:32If God is clarified in hym, God schal clarifie hym in hym silf, and anoon he schal clarifie hym.
13:33Litle sones, yit a litil Y am with you; ye schulen seke me, and, as Y seide to the Jewis, Whidur Y go, ye moun not come; and to you Y seie now.
