>
6:1And in those dayes when the number of the Disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrewes, because their widowes were neglected in the daily ministration.
6:2Then the twelue called the multitude of the disciples vnto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leaue the word of God, and serue tables.
6:3Wherefore brethren, looke ye out among you seuen men of honest report, full of the holy Ghost, and wisedome, whom we may appoint ouer this businesse.
6:4But we will giue our selues continually to prayer, and to the ministerie of the word.
6:5And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Steuen, a man full of faith and of the holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Permenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch.
6:6Whom they set before the Apostles: and when they had praied, they layd their hands on them.
6:7And the word of God encreased, and the number of the Disciples multiplied in Hierusalem greatly, and a great company of the Priests were obedient to the faith.
6:8And Steuen full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
6:9Then there arose certaine of the Synagogue, which is called the Synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia, and of Asia, disputing with Steuen.
6:10And they were not able to resist the wisedome and the spirit by which he spake.
6:11Then they suborned men which said, We haue heard him speake blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
6:12And they stirred vp the people, and the Elders, and the Scribes, and came vpon him, and caught him, and brought him to the Councell,
6:13And set vp false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speake blasphemous words against this holy place, and the Law.
6:14For we haue heard him say, that this Iesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, & shall change the Customes which Moses deliuered vs.
6:15And all that sate in the Councell, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had bene the face of an Angel.

 

6:1In those dayes whan the nombre of the disciples increased, there arose a grudge amoge the Grekes agaynst the Hebrues, because their wyddowes were not loked vpon in the daylie handreachinge.
6:2Then the twolue called the multitude of the disciples together, and sayde: It is not mete that we shulde leaue the worde of God, and to serue at the tables.
6:3Wherfore brethren, loke out amonge you seue men, that are of honeste reporte, and full of the holy goost and wyssdome, whom we maye appoynte to this nedefull busynes.
6:4But we wil geue oure selues vnto prayer, and to the mynistracion of the worde of God.
6:5And the sayenge pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Steuen, a man full of fayth and of the holy goost, and Philippe, and Procorus, and Nicanor, and Thimon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas the Proselite of Antioche.
6:6These they set before ye Apostles, and they prayed, and layed their handes vpon them.
6:7And the worde of God increased, and the nombre of the disciples multiplied greatly at Ierusalem. And there were many prestes also obedient vnto the fayth.
6:8Steuen full of faith and power, dyd wonders and greate tokens amonge the people.
6:9Then arose there certayne of the synagoge, which is called (the synagoge) of ye Libertynes, & of the Cyrenites, and of the Alexadrines, and of the yt were of Celicia and Asia, & disputed with Steue,
6:10and they coulde not resiste the wyssdome and the sprete, out of the which he spake.
6:11Then sent they in certayne men, that sayde: We haue herde him speake blasphemous wordes agaynst Moses, and agaynst God.
6:12And they moued the people, and the Elders and the scrybes, and came vpon him, & caught him,
6:13and brought him before the councell, and set false witnesses there, which sayde: This man ceasseth not to speake blasphemous wordes agaynst this holy place and the lawe.
6:14For we herde him saye: Iesus of Nazareth shall destroye this place, and chaunge the ordinaunces which Moses gaue vs.
6:15And all they that sat in the councell, loked vpo him and sawe his face as the face of an angell.

 

6:1But in tho daies, whanne the noumbre of disciplis encreesside, the Grekis grutchiden ayens the Ebrews, for that her widewis weren dispisid in euery daies mynystryng.
6:2And the twelue clepiden togidere the multitude of disciplis, and seiden, It is not ryytful, that we leeuen the word of God, and mynystren to boordis.
6:3Therfor, britheren, biholde ye men of you of good fame, ful of the Hooli Goost and of wisdom, whiche we schulen ordeyne on this werk;
6:4for we schulen be bisi to preier, and preche the word of God.
6:5And the word pleside bifor al the multitude; and thei chesiden Styuen, a man ful of feith and of the Hooli Goost, and Filip, and Procore, and Nycanor, and Tymon, and Parmanam, and Nycol, a comelyng, a man of Antioche.
6:6Thei ordeyneden these bifor the siyt of apostlis, and thei preyeden, and leiden hoondis on hem.
6:7And the word of the Lord wexide, and the noumbre of the disciplis in Jerusalem was myche multiplied; also myche cumpany of preestis obeiede to the feith.
6:8And Steuen, ful of grace and of strengthe, made wondris and grete signes in the puple.
6:9But summe rysen of the synagoge, that was clepid of Libertyns, and Cirenensis, and of men of Alisaundre, and of hem that weren of Cilice and of Asie, and disputiden with Steuene.
6:10And thei miyten not withstonde the wisdom and the spirit, that spak.
6:11Thanne thei priueli senten men, that schulden seie, that thei herden hym seiynge wordis of blasfemye ayens Moises and God.
6:12And so thei moueden togidere the puple, and the eldre men, and the scribis; and thei rannen togidre, and token hym, and brouyten in to the counsel.
6:13And thei ordeyneden false witnessis, that seiden, This man ceessith not to speke wordis ayens the hooli place, and the lawe.
6:14For we herden hym seiynge, That this Jhesus of Nazareth schal destrye this place, and schal chaunge the tradiciouns, whiche Moyses bitook to us.
6:15And alle men that seten in the counsel bihelden hym, and sayn his face as the face of an aungel.
