1 Corinthians - Chapter: 10

>
10:1Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea,
10:2all were baptized under Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
10:3all ate the same spiritual food,
10:4and all drank the same spiritual drink. Because, they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
10:5But with most of them God was not well pleased, because they were scattered in the wilderness.
10:6Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
10:7And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."
10:8Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty three thousand fell;
10:9nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents;
10:10nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.
10:11Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
10:12Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
10:13There is no temptation that has come upon you except such as is common to everyone; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
10:14Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
10:15I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say.
10:16The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
10:17Because we, though many, are one bread and one body; because we all partake of that one bread.
10:18Observe Israel according to the flesh: Are not those who eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
10:19What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered in sacrifice to idols is anything?
10:20Rather, I am saying that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want that you would have fellowship with demons.
10:21You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord's table and of the table of demons.
10:22Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?
10:23All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.
10:24Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well being.
10:25Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience' sake;
10:26because "the earth is the LORD'S, and all its fullness."
10:27If any of those who do not believe invites you to a meal, and you desire to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no question for conscience' sake.
10:28But if anyone says to you, "This was offered to idols," do not eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for conscience' sake; because "the earth is the LORD'S, and all its fullness."
10:29I do not say your own conscience, but that of the others. Because why is my liberty judged by another man's conscience?
10:30But if I partake with thanks, why am I evil spoken of for that over which I give thanks?
10:31Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
10:32Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Gentiles or to the church of God,
10:33just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

10:1Moreouer, brethren, I woulde not that yee shoulde bee ignorant, that all our fathers were vnder that cloude, and all passed through that sea,
10:2And were all baptized vnto Moses, in that cloude, and in that sea,
10:3And did all eat the same spiritual meat,
10:4And did all drinke the same spirituall drinke (for they dranke of the spiritual Rocke that folowed them: and the Rocke was Christ)
10:5But with many of them God was not pleased: for they were ouerthrowen in ye wildernes.
10:6Nowe these things are our ensamples, to the intent that we should not lust after euil things as they also lusted.
10:7Neither bee ye idolaters as were some of them, as it is written, The people sate downe to eate and drinke, and rose vp to play.
10:8Neither let vs commit fornication, as some of them committed fornication, and fell in one day three and twentie thousand.
10:9Neither let vs tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted him, and were destroyed of serpents.
10:10Neither murmure ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
10:11Nowe all these things came vnto them for ensamples, and were written to admonish vs, vpon whome the endes of the world are come.
10:12Wherefore, let him that thinketh he standeth, take heede lest he fall.
10:13There hath no tentation taken you, but such as appertaine to man: and God is faithfull, which will not suffer you to be tempted aboue that you be able, but wil euen giue the issue with the tentation, that ye may be able to beare it.
10:14Wherefore my beloued, flee from idolatrie.
10:15I speake as vnto them which haue vnderstanding: iugde ye what I say.
10:16The cup of blessing which we blesse, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we breake, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
10:17For we that are many, are one bread and one body, because we all are partakers of one bread.
10:18Beholde Israel, which is after the flesh: are not they which eate of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
10:19What say I then? that the idole is any thing? or that that which is sacrificed to idoles, is any thing?
10:20Nay, but that these things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to deuils, and not vnto God: and I would not that ye should haue fellowship with the deuils.
10:21Ye can not drinke the cup of the Lord, and the cup of the deuils. Ye can not be partakers of the Lords table, and of the table of the deuils.
10:22Doe we prouoke the Lord to anger? are we stronger then he?
10:23All things are lawfull for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawfull for me, but all things edifie not.
10:24Let no man seeke his owne, but euery man anothers wealth.
10:25Whatsoeuer is solde in the shambles, eate ye, and aske no question for conscience sake.
10:26For the earth is the Lords, and all that therein is.
10:27If any of them which beleeue not, call you to a feast, and if ye wil go, whatsoeuer is set before you, eate, asking no question for conscience sake.
10:28But if any man say vnto you, This is sacrificed vnto idoles, eate it not, because of him that shewed it, and for the conscience (for the earth is the Lords, and all that therein is)
10:29And the conscience, I say, not thine, but of that other: for why should my libertie be condemned of another mans conscience?
10:30For if I through Gods benefite be partaker, why am I euill spoken of, for that wherefore I giue thankes?
10:31Whether therefore ye eate, or drinke, or whatsoeuer ye doe, doe all to the glory of God.
10:32Giue none offence, neither to the Iewes, nor to the Grecians, nor to the Church of God:
10:33Euen as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine owne profite, but the profite of many, that they might be saued.

10:1Brethren I wolde not that ye shuld be ignoraunt of this how yt oure fathers were all vnder a cloude and all passed thorow the see
10:2and were all baptised vnder Moses in the cloude and in the see:
10:3and dyd all eate of one spirituall meate
10:4and did all drincke of one maner of spirituall drincke. And they dranke of that spretuall rocke that folowed them which rocke was Christ.
10:5But in many of them had god no delite. For they were overthrowen in the wildernes.
10:6These are ensamples to vs that we shuld not lust after evyll thinges as they lusted
10:7Nether be ye worshippers of Images as were some of them accordynge as it is written: The people sate doune to eate and drynke and rose vp agayne to playe.
10:8Nether let vs comit fornicacion as some of them committed fornicacion and were destroyed in one daye .xxiii. thousande.
10:9Nether let vs tempte Christ as some of them tempted and were destroyed of serpentes.
10:10Nether murmure ye as some of them murmured and were destroyed of ye destroyer
10:11All these thinges happened vnto them for ensamples and were written to put vs in remembraunce whom the endes of the worlde are come apon.
10:12Wherfore let hym that thynketh he stodeth take hede least he fall.
10:13There hath none other temptacion taken you but soche as foloweth ye nature of ma. But God is faythfull which shall not suffer you to be tempted above youre strenght: but shall in the myddes of the temptacion make awaye to escape out.
10:14Wherfore my deare beloued fle from worshippynge of ydols.
10:15I speake as vnto them which have discrecion Iudge ye what I saye.
10:16Ys not the cuppe of blessinge which we blesse partakynge of ye bloude of Christ? ys not the breed which we breake partetakynge of the body of Christ?
10:17because that we (though we be many) yet are one breed and one bodye in as moch as we all are partetakers of one breed.
10:18Beholde Israhell which walketh carnally. Are not they which eate of the sacrifyse partetakers of the aultre?
10:19What saye I then? that the ymage is eny thinge? or that it which is offered to ymages is eny thinge?
10:20Nay but I saye that those thinges which the gentyle offer they offer to devyls and not to god. And I wolde not that ye shuld have fellishippe with ye devils
10:21Ye canot drincke of the cup of the lorde and of yt cup of ye deuyls. Ye cnanot be partetakers of the lordes table and of the table of deuelles.
10:22Ether shall we provoke the lorde? Or are we stronger then he? All thynges are laufull vnto me but all thynges are not expedient.
10:23All thynges are lawfull to me but all thinges edifye not.
10:24Let no man seke his awne proffet: but let every man seke anothers welthe.
10:25 What soever is solde in the market that eate and axe no questions for conscience sake
10:26For the erth is the lordis and all that therein is.
10:27Yf eny of them which beleve not bid you to a feest and yf ye be disposed to goo what soever is seet before you: eate axinge no question for conscience sake.
10:28But and yf eny man saye vnto you: this is dedicate vnto ydols eate not of it for his sake that shewed it and for hurtynge of conscience.
10:29Conscience I saye not thyne: but the coscieuce of that other. For why shuld my liberte be iudged of another manes conscience:
10:30For yf I take my parte with thakes: why am I evell spoken of for that thynge wherfore I geve thankes.
10:31Whether therfore ye eate or dryncke or what soever ye do do all to the prayse of God.
10:32Se that ye geve occasion of evell nether to ye Iewes nor yet to the gentyls nether to ye cogregacion of god:
10:33euen as I please all men in all thinges not sekynge myne awne proffet but the proffet of many that they myght be saved. Folowe me as I do Christ.
